I love the vibe of this diner! I came around close to Christmas and I love how they had festive decorations up! Food and drinks were great! I love that they had dairy free options! I had a vegan Oreo shake and it was delicious!
I love this spot and especially the Halloween theme decor. The food was a 10/10. We had the pizza, socal chicken sandwich and the chicken toco. OMG I couldn’t resist!!! I definitely will be coming back 😁🔥
Today we went with our large group of 13 people after hiking for breakfast to Fred 62. Our experience was superb & out of this world, everything from setting us up with a nice table to taking our orders quickly & serving us right away. We really couldn’t have asked for better service or more delicious food. It is so refreshing in a world that good food & service is so rare to get swept off of our feet. We all said we will go back because our experience was so pleasant! We are grateful.
I am from Texas, and I was meeting friends in California. I found this place online and saw there was an area for private parties. The general manager Ian called me, and I reserved the private area on the back patio. The staff was great. There is a variety of options to choose from on the menu. Food was great. Prices are reasonable. Ian followed up after our visit to make sure everything was great. I will be going back on my next visit to Los Angeles.
I love this Iconic Diner more than words. It is the quintessential LA neighborhood spot with delish food and the lovliest staff all of whom feel like family to me. I have spent many many days and evenings here whether sitting outside people watching and dreaming or enjoying the retro and cozy inside. Long Live Fred 62!
First time there tonight and the food was delicious. Our server was super sweet, and attentive. We had a grilled cheese sandwich, a burger, fries, onion rings and chicken tacos. Will be returning soon 😋
We had total comfort food when we dined here -- and there is a vegetarian section, and a vegan section -- plus desserts. Clean and old school charm, A-rating (health dept., when we dined there). Close to neighborhoods, the observatory, the Greek Theater, and more. Parking on the street can be hit-or-miss depending on the day/time - but we were able to easily park close. The staff are super nice here - we definitely were treated well. We'll be stopping by Fred's whenever we're in the area!!
What a great Dinner! 😋. We ordered the club sandwich, the classic burger, and the achiote chicken sandwich. They all come with fries but I substitute my fries with curly fries. Other substitutes; tater tots, sweat potatoes. They also come with pickle 🥒 cucumber on the side. For drinks my kids ordered an Almer Palmer, and a strawberry Limonade wich is not on the menu but our great waitress made it with their hand made mashed strawberry jam. Real fruit strawberry Limonade! Food was out quick which was good because we were hungry. After walking a couple miles in Los Feliz just shopping and site seeing those drinks were refreshing. I must add that their taste ofusic was good, sinatra was on the playlist alongside with other artists of the 50', 60s. Highly recommend this Dinner. Will need to come back and try the breakfast 🥞🍳.
Came here on a weekday morning after doing one of the hikes up to Griffith Park Observatory. Chill diner atmosphere, way less packed than I thought it would be. I ordered this Fred 62 Salmon lox variant, and the peach pie. Both were really good, but it was actually the customer service that was over the top. They went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable, just sitting there reading, taking up space. Free parking was a little difficult, but I found something two blocks up, and I feel like for LA this is normal.
I had an absolutely fantastic experience at Fred 62! The Shakshuka eggs were perfectly seasoned and had just the right amount of spice—an excellent start to the meal. The French toast was heavenly—soft, fluffy, and with just the right touch of sweetness. And don’t even get me started on the strawberry shake—it was rich, creamy, and tasted like pure nostalgia. The diner itself has such a cool and cozy vibe, and the staff was friendly and attentive. Whether you’re looking for comfort food or something trendy with a twist, Fred 62 hits the mark. I can’t wait to come back and try more from their menu. Highly recommend!
Wonderful Thanksgiving dinner here with the whole family on vacation. Couldn’t believe how speedy the service was with the healthy portions. Highly recommend the fried mac ‘n’ cheese balls for a starter. The turkey meatloaf had this nice glaze atop the crisped top. The Thanksgiving dinner special looked fantastic and filling. Really appreciated the friendly service. And I’ll note their corking fee was only $10, so bring a bottle!
I can’t believe I’ve never been here! It’s definitely such a warm and lovely space with incredible food! I was so happy to see such a huge vegetarian/vegan section of the menu and I got the impossible sloppy Joe which was AMAZING! The food came out so quickly and was piping hot. They have such fun and exciting menu options and I am so excited to come back. Their pie was perfect and I had the best experience here - thank you so much!

This diner is a gem! Reminded me of the iconic New Jersey diners, but with a California twist. The food was great and service even better.
The food is delicious, the prices are high, although that's not surprising for the neighborhood. I had the shaggy Mr Frenchie, actuated French toast, yummy! But the real STAR of the show was the loaded tater tots. I thought I wanted a sweet breakfast for dinner type of meal, but those tots hit the spot SO well, I all but ignored my French toast just for them. I'll come back just for the tots, they're enough to be a meal on their own.
I've never lived near Fred 62 but have literally decades of good memories eating here when I've been in the neighborhood. Not much has changed (except on the list latest visit the toasters were gone from the tables. I mean I've never used a toaster at a restaurant but have always loved the kitsch of it.) There's a lot of purposeful kitsch here and you either dig it or you don't. (I do.) I especially love the extensive vegetarian menu. I mean no less than 3 kinds of veggie burgers, always good french fries, and that Bearded Mr. Frenchy (cornflake encrusted French Toast...YUM! My wife dug her Carrot Ginger Bisque. I was okay with the Boss Mac n' Cheese. (Which actually may have been too cheese if that's even possible.) Our kid liked his "No Animal" burger. We left sated and maybe even comforted. I hope Fred 62 stays here forever...it's nice to have a neighborhood joint with comfort food galore. (Even if it's not my neighborhood.
A fine diner that is open late. It's close to the Los Feliz theatre and is perfect for post-movie burgers plus shakes.
Cute little brunch place in los Feliz. Really enjoyed the ambiance and style of the place\n\nI ordered a coffee and the French toast. Solid diner food. They came and offered a refill on the coffee…

Food was excellent. Waiter forgot to bring my coffee and misgendered me. (Please train your staff not to make assumptions about people’s gender.). Restaurant was cold because they propped the door open when it was 55 degrees outside.
I finally tried Fred 62 after driving by it so many times, and I'm glad I did. It's a cute little diner with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. They're open well past midnight, which is always a plus. I loved the vibe--the car-style booths and the hip hop playing in the back gave it a fun, lively feel. Just a cool spot to end the night. Seated right away and greeted by a friendly + attentive waiter. The coffee was a bit mediocre and watered down, but the food portions were solid and priced fairly. We tried the chicken tenders, a salad, and the cheeseburger--everything was okay. Happy to finally cross this place off my list.
This place is famous and just around the corner where I live. I asked for the veggie omelette and it was quite tasty. But the hashbrowns were almost cold and I got some hints of rancid oil in them. The place is old and it shows in the furniture and floor. For the prices they charge, I think the quality of the food could be higher. There seems to be a current motto in society to sacrifice quality for speed. Oh yes, the service is super fast, but it should not be at the expense of quality. If you are hungry and in a rush, go there. The amounts are generous. Friendly staff. Also, a guy without uniform brought a column of plastic glasses to the fountain area. Then he took a few of them and proceeded to fill them up with ice. He wasn't wearing gloves at all. I hope he washes his hands before doing this. It turned me off about their hygiene standards.
Still got the dang cases filled with gamer lights. Really ruins the old Hollywood vibe of the whole place. Are these the only pie cases they can afford or something? Why are they sacrificing so much …

Read before you go I am being honest with this review, I give honest reviews for other people to know before they go. We went on August 30, 2025. I give it two stars and let me explain why. First, $30 for a kids meal that is two small pieces of chicken strips with shoe string fries, the fries was generous, it was a lot but very thin fries, the chicken strips was a disgraced, small strips and didn’t taste that good and we ordered the Buttermilk pancakes which was 3 pieces of pancakes that had only a little bit of powdered sugar on top and pancakes was not that good, and a drink which was not even a big glass and it had a lot of ice meaning a little amount of soda with a lot of ice in a glass, all of that for $30. Waited long for our food. Over priced for a kids meal and 3 pieces of pancakes in a plate with a drink. Guy that took our order was nice but lady, with black hair that gave us our order not friendly. Place was too loud and too dark, if you are sensitive to sound it’s not a good place. Didn’t try to order other things as it was over priced and place was just too loud, music was too loud too dark not enough light. It felt stuffy inside. It just felt chaotic. Not a place where you can enjoy your meal. I am not a hater just an honest reviewer hoping owner would sit down on his or her own restaurant and try to see if he or she would enjoy his/her over priced meal with very loud music.
