Took advantage o the happy hour special with nachos, cheese fries, sliders 3-7$. I had the sliders with caramelized onions which were delish
I want to give a significant shout-out to Frankie for providing exceptional customer service!! We recently had an issue where a delivery order was canceled by the vendor. Because the food was needed for an onsite office meeting, I immediately placed the order again. Unfortunately, this resulted in two orders being delivered and us being billed for both. When I reached out to the restaurant, Frankie immediately assured me he would "make it right." The customer service he provided was truly top-notch!!
If my memory serves me correctly, I’ve only been to this location twice. Which was several years apart. The first time was when the movie theater first opened. Which was very expensive to see a movie at that time. Which is probably why I didn’t return to that particular location. The second time was when there was a Nordstrom Rack. However, the Nordstrom store wasn’t there anymore. I was like, what? 🥴… or maybe it is? My fiancé and I were in the area and decided to stop at Islands and have an early dinner. We waited like 3 mins to be seated, not bad at all… Overall, the area seems dead. Like hardly any action around. Maybe because it was a Sunday. Only Starbucks, that wing spot, the theater, and Islands were open. Pretty dull area. …and having to pay for parking is ridiculous. 3 mins free. What? Most people exceeded that time. So yeah, forced to pay to shop. Anyhow; the food at Island was delicious. Especially the smoothie I ordered. My impossible burger was delicious. Very reasonable price point. I would go back to Island, just another location.
We've been eating Islands for decades. We love the fries! Today though we had the best server, Danielle. Honestly, she was just spot on with making sure we had everything and she was super sweet and relatable. The whole family loved her! When you eat out, a server can really make the experience and she made it phenomenal. She should be a manager. Honestly. We hope to get her in the future.
It's been years since I had Islands! Moved away some time ago and couldn't wait to be back here in California to enjoy all the good food! Islands was one of the main places I really wanted to go! Took the wife and we made it a date! Burger was just as good as I remembered, and the fries were on point! I swear the burgers used to be bigger and the fries were bottomless! But that was 25 years ago! Still one of my favorite places to eat! Highly recommend!
My kids that are almost adults was raised at this location on chicken tenders, salad and etc. since 2011. Where in fact my son (pictured) first paycheck was at this restaurant. This location is Cheers to me and the family in my life as every one knows your name. Shout out to Frankie (Manager), Apollo (Manager), Linda (Manager). Bartenders Miguel, Mia, Chris, Dash, Alex, Patrick, Evon and a host of others like Eric and AJ.
I tend to stop by nearly every day, as the restaurant is close by, yet outside of the home where I can enjoy lunch and continue to work and read. The restaurant is always well prepared and ready for customers even if they show up early. The presentation when I walk in is always clean and in order, including the bathrooms. I’m always greeted with a friendly smile and the door is always opened for me. Another detail that I can appreciate is everyone for the most part always remember my name and set me up in my usual spot. Service and food is spectacular and I’ve never had an issue with the food. Service is very prompt and the servers make that all is well and do I need anything additional. The friendly atmosphere and chats keep me uplifted and is by far one of the main reasons why I continue to return to their location almost every day. RH >)))’>
I buy to go here regularly during lunch hour and it's great! I order online and by the time I walk there it's ready! The Double Stack burger is delicious, always fresh and always cooked just perfect, NEVER overcooked and dry. Their lunch burger deal beats out all of the nationwide burger joints in price, portion size, and above all quality, freshness and taste. I also like their Toucan sandwich, it is pretty unique and very good! Their fries are also fantastic even without salt, which is how I order mine all the time! I have to thank the kitchen staff, because they're always spot on and deliver with care a nice presentable meal that looks as good as it tastes! The staff is also amazing, from the host to the servers and Manager, everyone is always nice, friendly, courteous and welcoming! And finally, the restaurant has a pretty unique Hawaiian theme, always has great music and it is always spotless. Well done everyone!
Loved the place! Ran by great management! Sorry forgot manager name for the night. 😩 But the team was friendly, accommodating, nice, food was delicious! Wednesday margarita special is great!! 🔥🤤 I have to return to get the managers name! It was a great first time at this location. Haven't been to Islands in too many years. I took these pictures just for you guys!
First timer and was not disappointed. Ordered the chips and salsa/guacamole, wings and fries green beans for appetizers. The green beans were fantastic and the chili sauce for them was so good. Their guacamole was also super tasty. The burger (Pipeline) was really good but had a bit too much mustard for my taste. Service was excellent and our server was really friendly. They also played good music :)
Just go! It's good food good music, great drinks!! The only drawback hence the 4 stars instead of 5, you have to sit in the bar to have the happy hour prices. So get there early!
Food is pretty good, service a little slow. They forgot my drink, but it happens... restaurant was extremely cold and not sure if that was something put in place to hide odor or what was going on, but it was a good 65°F in the joint. Definitely tequila weather. Maybe the walk-in freezer had a leak IDK... Oh also the margarita tasted like a dollar store clearance can of swill... It might be a good idea to invest in a better quality margarita mix guys. Yuck.
As someone who grew up in San Diego, where Islands is based out of, I have had this restaurant countless times growing up. In high school we used to all go here often until Cheesecake Factory replaced it for us, but it also was a frequent stop during college and a lot of my 20s. It’s very nostalgic to me and it had been years since I last had Islands but this past weekend we stopped in for lunch and I am happy to report that the flavors taste exactly the same. This location is attached to the Howard Hughes Center and parking is free for the first 90 minutes and then after that it starts to climb. However, you’re able to park right next-door in the underground parking so it’s not a far walk to the restaurant from your car. Inside of this restaurant is quite large and they have many different seating options and cozy tucked away booths. I love the design on the inside and really feels like a surf and island vibe. Our waitress was very polite and as usual everything that we ordered came out very fast. I will say that one of the downsides is the pricing is quite high for what you get. For a table of two it was about $75 for a cup of soup, two burgers, and two drinks. I think that is what has scared away a lot of people and forced a lot of their locations to close. I was happy to see that the menu had all the classics on it and a few more new ones. As always, I started with the Chicken Tortilla Soup because it’s honestly delicious and one version that I really like. It’s very hearty and has a lot of chicken in it. For my burger, I chose the Bluenami and added avocado and thought it was great. I usually do the Maui so I wanted to try something different. I’m glad that I ordered it. The fries weren’t as good as I remember, but some things are just like that. We also tried their new strawberry cream soda, and I did like it. Wish they would do free refills of it though. Overall, I would recommend if you are looking for a place with great burgers and a lot of drink options in a casual atmosphere. Just know that the price can be a bit more than you’re expecting but overall we had a really nice lunch.
The employees were helpful and honest. I had a Bloody Mary and strawberry margarita. Highly recommend the strawberry margarita. UPDATE: the outside dining is horrendous. Me and my fiancé came this afternoon for lunch and we decided to sit outside and dine. BIG MISTAKE. There was food thrown around everywhere. It was all over the ground and on all of the tables and chairs. We had to wipe our own table and chairs off to sit down and start looking at the menu. It was pretty disgusting and unappetizing. However, the waitress was very kind and quick.
We recommend Islands We ordered Islands Nachos and Hula burger. The amount of salt/sodiom in the burger was enough. The level of carbs, fat and salt in Nachos however was more than expected and the torlilas were over fried and almost brown (see pictures). We thought that either chicken or beef was included in the price of Nachos. As you see in the receipt it wasn't. Chicken (which was not much at all) did cost $4.49 extra)!! The fries were tasty but a bit dryed and over fried. The menu was clean, organized and easy to understand. The strows were made of papper and environmental friendly (see all the pictures). The place has attractive layout and open space, The staff were friendly and helpful. The waiting time from ordering the food until we received it was acceptable. Here are some pictures I took.
