**Review for Staffy’s** ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Nestled in the heart of the city, Staffy’s is a charming restaurant that captures the essence of home away from home. From the moment we stepped inside, we were met with the warmth of the staff and a cozy ambiance that instantly set the tone for a delightful dining experience. Ben, our server, was not only attentive but also radiated an infectious passion for the food. He made us feel welcomed, like old friends catching up over a meal. Casey took our order with a smile, guiding us through the menu with a genuine enthusiasm that made selecting our dishes all the more enjoyable. We started with the chai tea—an exquisite blend where the cinnamon wove its way through each sip, creating a tapestry of flavor that warmed the soul. Lyann chose the chicken pita, which was bursting with taste, while I opted for a recommendation from the staff that turned out to be life-changing—the beef and magical lamb pita. Each bite was a revelation, leaving us both blissfully satisfied. As a delightful twist, Casey suggested trying a turmeric pickle back—a shot of whiskey accompanied by their house-made pickle juice. I decided to indulge in the pickle shot alone, and let me tell you, it was nothing short of amazing! The tangy burst of flavor was a surprising and delightful complement to our meal. The combination of fantastic food and exceptional service at Staffy’s truly sets it apart. It’s a place where good food meets great company, and I can’t wait to return for another culinary adventure. If you’re looking for a dining experience that feels like a warm embrace, put Staffy’s at the top of your list!
Another one on my todo list, the youngest sibling of Bestia and Bavel. Definitely seemed very popular and hence crowded. We sat outside and our waitress was attentive, provided excellent guidance. The food was outstanding: Examples included hummus and green tahini, hummus full, Peruvian scallop crudo, green falafel, tempura kabocha squash and fennel, wood-fired yellow cauliflower, chicken shashlik and lamb kebab. And the desserts did not last long either. (Originally posted by me on yelp)
Super delicious food and great service. The scallop ceviche is out of this world and the Snapper Tagine was superb. We also loved the smoked swarma from the open pit grill. They recommended pairing this chilled wine with all their unique flavors and it was spot on!!! This was a wonderful experience from start to finish and we can’t wait to go again.
My partner and I had a lovely date here last night! Hostess with long brown hair was super sweet, gave us a nice table as requested and took some pics outside the restaurant for us. Our server Lish was friendly and easy to talk to, I asked for her guidance on cocktails and she did not disappoint — the mango lassi was delicious. I also had the banana negroni, not very banana-y but still yummy. All the food was absolutely amazing, I’m honestly surprised at the restaurants ratings. I would’ve assumed it had 4.8/4.9. The service was attentive and professional, the food came out quickly. We were truly impressed with everything we ordered — the bread that came with the hummus was killer, the Peruvian scallops are a must try, and the tomato salad /+ the chicken & beef shashlik had us immediately planning our next visit. Everything was flavorful and unique in itself. I wish their dessert menu had a few more options but we will definitely be back! Highly recommend ⭐️
Absolutely crushed this place. It truly lived up to all the hype. Came to celebrate my brother’s birthday and they gave us a glass of bubbly to start the night off. Once the food started arriving, we couldn’t be happier. Every dish was delicious with incredible range of flavors. Would definitely recommend for a special occasion or fancy meal out. Our waiter was very sweet as well. Loved it!!!
I am still thinking about the shawarma plate 4 days later. It is that good. The meat is crazy flavorful and easy to chew, oozing with delicious animal fat and goes so well with the soft and fresh pita. The cumin flavor is not overpowering but works in strong combination with the saltiness of the meat. The dipping sauce in my opinion actually takes away from the simple beauty of the dish. The red snapper tagine is great, has a kind of curry flavor with a nice punch from the fresh chilis. The fish itself also tastes super high quality. The hummus ful is also great, very smooth and doesn’t have the bitter aftertaste of some hummus. The soft boiled egg is also flavored! A detail that really shows you this is an absolute top notch restaurant. The challah bread, while delicious, isn’t the best carbs for dipping the hummus for me because it’s too soft. I prefer a more traditional thick pita. As other comments mentioned the restaurant does get loud. But I didn’t really notice because I was so absorbed in the food.
A small, independent, Mediterranean place with delicious food and a cool vibe. It’s not dressy or fancy, but the food is delicious and costs more than your typical shawarma house. Valet parking was $13 on Saturday night. The outdoor patio in front is a cool place to sit, and they’ve brought in trees to give you some privacy from the street. Inside there’s a full bar and you can see through glass walls right into the wood-fired ovens. Because the tables are close together, it’s pretty loud here. Kids and families can dine here, but there’s no kids menu, so they need to be comfortable with Mediterranean food. It’s probably best for gatherings of 4-6 people, and date nights. In the early summer of 2025, it’s difficult to get a table - reserve online a few weeks ahead. Service was super fast, attentive, and friendly.
At first, I was a bit hesitant when I heard it was Mediterranean food, but I’m so glad I ended up coming! The hummus with bread was amazing, and even the red onion salad was surprisingly enjoyable. This was hands down the best meal I’ve had on this LA trip!
Incredibly savory lunch. The matcha was not too earthy. Everyone was very kind. The wi-Fi was really good. Great place to get some light work done.
One of the best restaurants in LA and perfect for dates and larger gatherings. Highly recommended and worth a trip out to try. The space was fairly crowded and it was very busy on a Friday, but the food and drinks came out at a good enough pace. The hummus is top notch, and the cauliflower is excellent. The shrimp toast was also good and our party also liked the falafel. For mains, we loved the fish, and the potatoes that came with it were the highlight of the dish. The shawarma plate was good, but we liked the skewers even more, the pita and dipping sauces were all on point. Dessert was good as well, we liked the cherry cobbler the most.
Great date night spot, food was unreal. My girlfriend loved the experience, so I loved the experience. Parking was a bit tough, we went on a Thursday around 7 and ended up just valeting for $13. Nice ambiance, friendly service. I recommend the chicken and beef shashlik. They deserve better ratings, we’ll definitely be back.

We ended up at Saffy’s somewhat unexpectedly after having a not so great experience at a bar nearby. With a group of nine and a concert to get to, we were just hoping to grab a drink and reset the tone of our evening. Despite being busy and managing a full dinner service with guests waiting, the Saffy’s team welcomed us without hesitation. They offered us side seating and happily served us drinks (we ordered multiple rounds), all with warmth and professionalism. After a less-than-great interaction elsewhere, their kindness stood out even more. Hospitality isn’t just about capacity; it’s about how you communicate. Saffy’s absolutely understands that. Will 100% be back again.
Thank you for letting us experience great food in LA ! It was amazing From the beginning to the end. Customer service , everyone is nice and friendly! Food was amazing, we’ve tried almost everything and couldn’t stop! My husbands fav is Lobster Mine would be mussels and shaslyk I even loved their banana bread Hot drinks great too! Well I highly recommend for those who wants to have a great time 🤍
Came here for a girls' dinner and were really excited since this is the team behind Bestia and Bavel (both favorites of ours). Saffy's did not disappoint. Even on a Tuesday night, the restaurant was full, bustling, and buzzing with energy. The crowd was definitely trendy, which added to the fun vibe. Parking-wise, there is valet, but I was able to find street parking without too much trouble. Heads up: they won't seat you until your full party is present. We were lucky enough to sit at the chef's table, which was a great experience to see the kitchen at work. Starters: • Peruvian scallops - super refreshing with the citrus amba, though it definitely has a little kick • Roasted celery root - WOW. I had no idea celery root could taste that good! Main Dish: • Saffy's Dish Kebab - we snagged the last one and it was mind-blowingly good. So tender and flavorful. My only wish is that it was served on a metal plate so it stayed warmer, as the meat cooled down fairly quickly. • Red snapper Tagine - Delicious and nicely cooked. Dessert sealed the deal -- the banana cake with swirl sauce was fantastic and the perfect way to end the meal. We ended up being some of the last people in the restaurant. They never rushed us, though we could tell they were starting to clean up, so we wrapped things up on our own. Service throughout the night was friendly and attentive, with staff checking in just the right amount. One thing to note: there is a 4% Healthy LA surcharge to support staff health and medical benefits. Overall, a great dinner and absolutely worth checking out if you love Bestia and Bavel.
We celebrated another night for our 5-year anniversary at Saffy’s and had a great time. Our table overlooked the open kitchen, which added to the lively, festive vibe. It’s definitely loud, but that energy fits the Mediterranean atmosphere. The skewers were delicious — especially the chicken — and the endive salad was a highlight. The starters are a bit pricey for the portion size, and we wouldn’t recommend the tomato dish. Friendly service and a fun, flavorful night out overall!
Good breakfast, solid cold brew and pastries. The lamb burger was a pleasant surprise, lemon zest on the fries was a nice touch
Welcome to a casual but unexpectedly great food and good service. This is where you can see your food and bread made before your eyes. This Israeli restaurant is a great introduction to perfectly seasoned meats prepared on charcoal, served with their oven baked flat bread and delicious coconut rice. For those of you, disliking the idea of rice and coconut together, you must try it. We tried the romaine salad, the shawarma, chicken kebab, beef shishlik and ground beef kebab, among other delicious dishes. I highly recommend the saffron lemonade. With their oven baked exception of a hiccup in the beginning, everything else was amazing.
The food is honestly really delicious and the flavor profiles are unique "upscaled" versions of several Persian classics. The value per bite is not great, and our kebabs took more than 30min to arrive, but I'd still come back here.

Saffy’s is the sister restaurant of Bestia and Bavel, two DTLA favorites I’ve heard about forever—can’t believe it took me this long to finally visit. Located on a street corner in Thai Town, the space is small but full of vibe, lively and cozy at the same time. Highlights: • Peruvian Scallop Crudo – Bright, tangy, slightly sweet with a touch of chili oil. Super refreshing and a solid starter. • Hummus Ful – Fava bean–forward with tahini, served with a tomato-eggplant salad and sesame toast. Very filling, and you can get more bread. • Turmeric Mussels – Rich, deeply reduced sauce without overpowering turmeric flavor. Great for dipping with the bread and crispy chips. • Wood-Fire Shawarma Plate – Lamb and beef wrapped under warm laffa bread. Generous portion, slightly salty, with a variety of sauces. • Pink Lady Apple Crisp – Baked apples with oats and cinnamon. Cozy, comforting, almost like a warm winter breakfast. Overall, a fun, flavorful spot with great atmosphere—worth the wait.
My favorite restaurant in LA for a long time was Bestia and I was excited to try Saffy's. We had a reservation and when we arrived we were told to wait outside, and someone would come take our drink order while we waited. We were outside for 30 minutes and nobody came, we went inside to check multiple times and each were dismissed back outside and still nobody came. Other people were also just standing around outside waiting. We couldn't get an inside table so got seated at the edge of the outside area where it was freezing because the heat lamps didn't really reach. The ambiance of the restaurant felt not warm or inviting. The food was tasty but I felt like it was really expensive for what you're getting. Overall it was not a great experience.

I've never experienced such terrible service! We placed our order, and after a while, we ran out of toast. I asked our waiter for some more, and he told me I'd have to go to the cashier to order it. This was while I was still eating my meal! Anyway, I went to the cashier, and there was a long line. I mentioned to another waiter that I needed toast, hoping he could help me out so I wouldn't have to stand in line with food still on my plate. But he insisted I either wait in line or give him my card, or I wouldn't get any toast! It's absolutely ridiculous and makes no sense. Even the food was good but they have a horrible customer service that I wouldn’t go back.

Happy New Year, generally, Saffy’s is enjoyable and the food good but the menu is wildly overpriced for the type of food that is being served - Mazal in Lincoln Heights serves similar fare, equally delicious if not more so, and at a far more reasonable price. Secondly, the front of restaurant service was simply appalling. If a few mediocre chicken skewers are billed at $42, the staff should be falling all over themselves to make the guest experience a good one. We arrived on time for our dinner reservation and were funneled into a soulless ‘holding area’ next door by a tremendously sullen Maitre’D, as our table wasn’t ready. There was plenty of space at the bar to wait so not sure why we were put into a ‘holding tank’. We did end up sitting at the bar but only because I pushed. The table took 30 minutes past our reservation time to sit down at. We ordered a lot of appetizers but weren’t allowed to put that order in until our main dishes were also picked - ridiculous as the table was late and we were hungry. As said, the food was generally good but the stand outs were the appetizers. If you do spend money at Saffy’s, order the appetizers-plenty of good things there (avoid the mushy cauliflower and the underwhelming beets). The shawarma main was very delicious but the skewers mediocre and lukewarm. The flatbread was chewy and tasted like it was a few days old. The best thing about Saffy’s was our lovely bartender - a stand out and I love that location on the west end of Silverlake!
