I was walking around the market and nothing really catched my attention until I saw their plates, I had the spicy Korean fried chicken and it was amazing, I rarely do reviews but this plate was a winner, thank you!!! I will be back
This is a very cool place to eat and relax—I love the atmosphere. I had never tried Korean food before, but this meal changed my life. The flavors were perfectly balanced, with just the right mix of sweet and salty. Plus, the price point was very affordable compared to other options at Grand Central Market
I walked around the market debating what to have for dinner when this Korean restaurant grabbed my attention. They had a special for Korean fried chicken with kimchi and rice for $15 and it even came with a drink! I chose the spicy option (you could have regular as well). Once I ordered they said 10 minutes as they make it fresh which I appreciated. The chicken was perfectly crispy, with only a thin layer of breading, moist inside and a good sauce. The kimchi was flavorful and came with a mountain of white rice. A huge, delicious meal for a low cost!
March 2024 I ordered a Korean chicken dish, which was really nice. There were plenty of pieces of nicely-spiced fried chicken served on a bed of warm rice with fresh herbs. I wouldn't mind returning.
Shiku Homestyle Korean is solid. Their menu is small but the items they serve are delicious. Shiku is located inside Grand Central Market in Downtown Los Angeles and depending on when you go, can get pretty busy. Thankfully you can order ahead. I ordered the LA Galbi and the Korean Fried Chicken and both were really good. The Galbi short ribs had a nice sweet-ish marinade to it and was quite tender. I really enjoyed the Korean fried chicken. It has the typical Korean spices that you would expect plus others that is unique to Shiku. I ordered spicy but I would consider it flaming hot. It’s more of a medium that hot. I’ll have to try the regular fried chicken next time I’m there.
The kimchi braised pork belly was definitely a must get. Tender and blowtorched to just the right amount of char. The accompanying ban chan of kimchi, curry cabbage salad, and jjajang macaroni salad were all great complimenting side dishes. The jjajang macaroni salad was especially flavorful and had potato too. Also got the pyogo mushrooms (aka shitake) which were ok but the original flavor felt like it was missing something
We never tried Korean food, but Shiku’s turned out to be awesome. The cashier was extremely cordial and available. We didn’t have to wait too much for the food and everything was fresh. I strongly suggest eating here if you never tried Korean and even if you tried it too. The vibe of the central market is very lively and there’s always a free table somewhere.
Great Korean food inside of the Central Market. There was a long line but it kept moving and the food arrived fast. Very flavorful food, and large portions, I would go again.
If you're in Grand Central Market right now and are looking at Google Reviews to figure out what you should eat, stop reading and order from Shiku. Yes, with all the food stall excellence around you, it's that good. Located across from Lucky Bird and near the line from Eggslut, Shiku is an excellent place to get some Asian food at Grand Central. On our recent visit, my partner and I ordered the pork belly and LA Galbi rice bowls and some spicy fried chicken on the side. We were not disappointed. The galbi was delicate enough to be cut off the bone with a fork and so flavorful that I wondered if it was really worth eating the rice because it would take the taste out of my mouth. My partner described the pork belly as melt-in-your-mouth good, and as she completed her meal, she was sad she didn't have more. The fried chicken was of similar excellence. Before I continue, the chicken would be best described as popcorn chicken. If you want legs, thighs, and wings Lucky Bird is right behind you. In addition, the chicken is breaded and fried in the Asian style as opposed to American. None of this takes away from the joy but you should know what you're buying. We ordered the chicken spicy and ate it almost as fast as our rice bowls. If I had to complain about anything, it may be that the flavor of the sauce was so strong I was happy to have the rice for the bowl to bring it in check. That being said, the spicy was not too spicy. Just enough to know you ordered a spicy meal, but not so hot that it takes over the experience. Now Shiku is inside Grand Central Market, so everything about Grand Central comes with it. If it's lunchtime on the weekend, especially during tourist season, order your food and then go find someplace to sit. It will be crowded, loud, and annoying. Shiku makes it worth it.

Food was good, the sides were very very small, just needed to have some more to balance out the meat flavors.
I got their Korean Fried Pyogo Mushroom, and it was pretty good. Wouldn’t say the quality was worth the price, but the mushrooms had such intricate flavors with the perfect texture. The banchan that came along with it had great seasoning too but wish there were more of it and less rice!
I tried the Korean fried chicken rice bowl. It is Korean Fried Chicken over white rice, with pickled mu radish, gochusriracha aioli, ahi verde, galbi glaze, mixed greens, cilantro. You can choose either Original Korean Fried Chicken or Spicy KFC. Quite small for the price and nothing spectacular. It was just good. The aioli and glaze were quite delicious and complimented the greens very well. The chicken was pretty basic, nothing fancy, looked and tasted like basic orange chicken- very disappointing. Good for a one time "gotta try it just to try it" type of deal. I will not go again. There are plenty of other places to try out. The whole market area is a great place to try a whole assortment of foods from all over.
Friendly staff. It's "fast Korean food". Definitely not the best Korean food but with an American-friendly flavor A bit on the saltier side but not bad I recommend going once. Not too expensive. $20 per person.

Their unique branding was really impressive. Waited about 30 mins to get my orders. Had a maekjuk chicken with a korean fried chicken. I enjoyed the maekjuk chicken, but fried chicken had some black chunks mixed in, as if it had been fried in old oil.

Shiku is a small Korean food shop in Grand Central Market; known for its homestyle Korean food inspired by traditional doshirak (lunchboxes). It offers dishes like Korean fried chicken, galbi rice bowls, and a variety of creative banchan. We came on a later afternoon for Lunch. I had a Grilled Chicken rice meal. It’s was very basic in taste and flavor; serving was somewhat small for the price. Staff was affable and competent. Overall, it’s was an okay Korean food.
Inside the Grand Central Market in downtown LA with many diverse food options, decided to try the Korean eatery. Ordered the Kimchi Fried Rice with fried egg, it was a smaller portion for the price though, also didn’t look like the picture. No vegetable or kimchi sides either. Better going off with their rice plate that has 3 sides just a couple dollars more.
Tried the Kimchi Fried Rice, Bibimbap from the Grand Central Market.. taste was good 👍🏻 since the area was crowded we could not enjoy the food like we would have expected!🙂 the Korean Apple 🍎 Soda was OK! For the Kimchi Friend rice, if there is an option to add Chicken 🐔 would recommend that boz we only got the rice and veggies! Overall a decent experience!
We visited during weekend for lunch. Grand Central market has a paid parking structure and we it was breeze to park and quickly head to restaurant. They took much longer time to deliver the food around 30 mins. Nextly the food , I would say mediocre. KFC was good, other than that rest was oki.

The pork belly was tender and flavorful. But rice was under cooked and banchan non existent. 2 leaves of lettuce, some seaweed and pinch of cole slaw is not banchan. I am a huge fan of baroo so I wanted to try here for the banchan but that part was a huge let down.

Kimchi braised pork belly was a let down for me. I came here to try this dish. Maybe it was due to the poor service at the front counter. The customer service was not good. I wish she would have been more approachable. There was a sauce that the meal could have used more of and when I asked the lady for more she was very rude about giving me more. For my first time experience I was let down. I found the pork to be too dry and the combination of ingredients off. Very little kimchi and to much rice. Overall I was hoping for some more bang for my buck.

I ordered the korean fried chicken bowl. The chicken was overcooked, rice was dry, and served with a lot of wilted and rotten looking greens. Be careful what your order here. It looks like a lot of pre-cooked and reheated food.
