Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf at LAX offers a convenient caffeine and snack stop for travelers. Many appreciate the strong coffee and blended drinks like the cookie butter latte. However, slow service and long lines, especially during peak hours, are common complaints, along with higher prices.

Lady at the counter was lovely and friendly. We had matchas and ice tea and it was refreshing and much needed.
If you like your coffee super strong and packed with high caffeine content, this place won’t disappoint. I ordered a large iced latte and wasn’t expecting it to be so intense — I only made it through half! That said, it had a rich aroma and great flavor. Definitely a solid pick-me-up if you need a serious caffeine boost.
Right next to Panda Express, terminal 7, at the start of 80's Gates. Healthy options for snacks and a light meal. Also caffeine if you need for a pick me up. Water to stay hydrated. Some yummy, if less healthy options available too. The Chai latte was extremely good. Less impressed with the to go oatmeals. Pretty pricey
The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf shop at Los Angeles International Airport always features fresh brewed hot and cold beverages, the best pastries, sandwiches and snacks for those family and friends anticipating the arrival of international guests and passenger's at one the worlds busiest airports. The servers are always courteous and serve their customers quickly.
Paradoxically, the Terminal 5 location is missing, so there's an understandable amount of reviews for that location, this one is for the Terminal 5 store too. I have never seen such a feverent display of California's consumerism culture than The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf at 5 in the morning. The line was over thirty minutes long, and even with prices what they are, the answer was universally clear, "We want coffee, and maybe food." I must agree to the extent that more staff is still needed to manage the queues, but once the order was placed the wait wasn't at all long. You have a cheaper option with the Dunkin, but do you really want to walk all the way to Terminal 4? It's all in what's in front of you, and with a local brand to welcome you to LA or to wave you goodbye, it stands to reason this is it.
We got a Caramel latte and hazelnut latte, both of our coffee were really good. Probably one of the best coffee. However, there was a communication barrier with the lady who took our order; we asked for soy milk and a pump of caramel and she kept saying, "both are powder" okay? When we asked what did she mean, she kept repeating the same statement. I also ordered a bagel and asked if they have a vegan cream cheese? She responded: Yes. Since it didn't convinced me. I asked if it has dairy, so she said "yes". So, I ended up ordering the bagel without cream cheese. 🤷♀️
I really enjoyed the coffee here, and the line wasn’t too long. Most airport coffees are usually rushed and watered down, so I didn’t have high expectations. The espresso in the latte was strong, which I like. This location is even pricier than starbucks. I paid about $10 for a regular size iced cookie butter latte. For that I give it 4 stars.
Terminal 5 disappointing choices for dining and prices are expected but outrageous. The Coffee Bean actually had more reasonable prices the (Mint Chocolate Iced Coffee) exceeded my expectations and was amazing I also ordered a chocolate croissant which, on the other hand not good. Great service and super friendly workers. TERMINAL 5 - location
First time to try this coffee shop and had an iced matcha latte. The drink had a good flavor and I liked it, but the service was slow even though it wasn't busy. I wonder if this place and the Panda Express that's next to it have the same management because the service at both places was slow...
We visited at 9 am on a Wednesday morning. The line was lengthy but it went fairly quickly and our drinks and food were prepared immediately after ordering. We ordered two original ice blended drinks- one was vanilla, the other was cookie butter. We liked both but we thought the vanilla was the best. We also ordered a jalapeño bagel. We didn’t realize till after we had our receipt that they charged us $1.75 for cream cheese to go with it. I may have skipped the bagel and gotten something else if I had known prior to ordering.
The staff members are always on their toes because this is the only establishment serves coffee and sandwiches inside the Tom Bradley terminal. A coffee could cost over $ 3 and bottle of water may cost roughly $ 4 depending on the brand. A Fuji bottle may cost more. Becareful what brand you choose. The bagel and other sandwiches are not pricey but average. Sometimes you may have to stand in queue for more than 15 minutes because of the crowd. The customer service is not brilliant but helpful.
Fast and friendly service with great coffee and tea as the base for their drinks. The way they add flavoring is odd though, and while the great flavors of the coffee and tea still make their way through, a lot of the flavors seem... off. Hard to describe. You may like it, but if you are interested in trying it I would see if there was one in your area first. Expensive as is the standard for airport food.
Since I liked the mocha latte I got a few days ago in Glendora, I thought I would stop by for a dark chocolate latte yesterday, and I was disappointed The latte wasn’t as good as the one I had in Glendora’s Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, and (while I know that it tends to be more expensive in airports’ coffee shops) it was way too overpriced – $9.99 for a single latte is way more than I would normally be willing to spend
Yelling out random drinks at an airport is not effective. Use numbers, names, stickers, something. Staff cannot remember what’s made on the counter and people are always going to assume that they are next when their drink is called regardless of when they ordered.
Terminal 7 United domestic has really limited cafe and food option so expect some very long lines especially during early morning madness rush hour. Coffee is however very much worth the long wait as it’s delicious. Baristas are very friendly and doing their best, but place is understaffed, there was just one person at lunch time, clearly not enough to serve amount of passengers. Prices are quite expensive e.g.$1.45 for an old and rotten banana is rip off. Some cabinet pastries and drink to go , grab options but not much and nothing vegetarian. Overall it’s good place for coffee but for food you are probably better off with the Panda next door
Drink was tasty (hazelnut latte) but I don’t get why they couldn’t remake the drink with almond milk when I didn’t drink from it at all after finding out my husband mistakenly ordered it with regular milk (I’m lactose). They said we would have to buy a whole new drink. Starbucks would have easily re-made it for us!
Dear Coffee Bean Managers, Your Terminal 5 store needs to hire more help. The workers are very nice and kind, however, there’s not enough help. The shelves were stocked and everything seemed cleaned. Just lack of help. It’s the morning, flights have arrived. We’ve been waiting in line and still am for over 30 min. #helpwanted
Part of the “Food Collection” at United Air Terminal 7. Like a food mall area, a few places here share the space so seating is limited. PRO - Serves coffee CON: - Honestly some of the weakest coffee ever. - Airport overpriced (of coarse) coming in at $6 - Limited seating as it’s part of the Food Mall SUMMARY: - Ive had several coffees and also iced ones. I honestly understand the need for caffeine, I really do. But you’re not really gonna get it here. I’ve had coffee here and gone right to sleep on my flight zzzzz…
I bought a cup of coffee and thought I had paid for it by tapping it, but an employee came over (I thought being helpful) and took my card from me and tapped it again. I thought that I might get double charged so I asked for a receipt. I was in a hurry to catch a plane and was tired from a 14 hour flight so I just stuck the receipt in my pocket. When I got home I looked at the receipt and the employee had given himself a $5 tip. A $5 tip on a $3.50 cup of coffee! I'm 85 and I must admit I was a looking a little "ratty" from the 14 hour flight but if he did that to every senior citizen he would be getting a good payoff for his thievery.
Coffee was good and price was listed. The bacon, egg, and cheese did not have the price listed, twice the price of my large ice blended coffee, stop being scummy and have all prices listed on the menu, service and people were kind but their corporate is a bad joke. List prices or keep getting bad reviews. Didn't know cost until it was time to put in my card.
Worst matcha I’ve ever had in my life and at an outrageous price! Actively gross and doesn’t taste anything like matcha at all. It is ridiculous to charge almost $7 for a cup of sickly sweet green milk. Service was wonderful, but the drink recipe was atrocious.
No prices on food. Got a ham sandwich that turned out to be $14. Shoulda asked… but Surprisingly was very tasty. One poor woman working the register. Line was around the corner took about 30min to get my food
Very crowded, and they don't manage to respond faster. I know this brand from long time ago. I have had their chai latte in Malaysia and Indonesia. Their Chai latte is much better than Starbucks. Update July 2018: I have to take another star!!! I can't remember how many times I have waited in the line and left it because they were slow (better say it was crowded). Anyway, from managerial stand point, this place is not costumer oriented. I don't know who runs the chain, but this one is the worst. Being bad does not bother me, having no motivation to improve is what I hate!
The staff are great, but the prices are INSANE! They also do not accept the app so I got NO POINTS and couldn't even pay through the app. I was very frustrated that I spent nearly $20 on drinks that would have been $12 max, and got no points. Yes, it's an airport, but the fact they can't even accept the app is so unacceptable.
Worst coffee I’ve tried in years! I took latte and cheese danish. I don’t know what kind of coffee they use, but it was so bad, I threw it away👎👎👎 there was no line when I ordered it, at least I didn’t spend time for this😖. And pastry was also bad, it felt like cheese danish was my age((
I'd like a refund. They wouldn't even give me my receipt. Very slow service and the croissant was the texture of rubber. The workers seem like they hate their lives. This does not live up to the expectation that every other location of this chain upholds. I'm so disappointed. I use to love this coffee shop.
One star is more than enough for barista attitude. We ordered at 3:30 a coffee with no line, then some guy that walked over and paid sometime after us already got his coffee. They skipped my husband drink. Ten minutes later when my husband politely asked them, she didn’t bother to check, but just had an attitude that she hadn’t got to it yet. Then she blamed it on multiple monitors to watch to make drinks, even though there were no other customers. Then when i wanted a refund, she handed it of to a manager with an attitude like my husband was wrong.
For the privilege of paying seventeen dollars I got two lukewarm brown waters and an ok muffin. I asked to replace my cold brown water with hot coffee but instead I received two hot brown waters. Seriously, how do you screw up coffee this bad? Save your money.
Some really bland and disgusting Chai lattes at this place, staff doesn’t care much as well, when I asked whether I can add some extra chai powder or chai tea syrup to make it drinkable, so the $6.70 I spent does not get wasted, they said it is pre-made chai tea…while it is not the end of the world,, just making this review so others can find a better tea/coffee option at LAX
My latte was way too sugary and tasted like they forgot the espresso. For a $10 drink, I expected it to be drinkable but it tasted like straight milk and syrup.
Had one of my worst iced lattes I’ve had in months here. Coffee taste is just bad and you’re charged 8 bucks for it. Should’ve looked up the previous reviews before buying here.
I can't find a positive thing to say: they don't have point accumulation or take the balance from the app; also, I bought a bottle of water $6+ and asked for half a cup of hot water, and the associate told me that they charge $1.08 for it and I can go next door even after I explained to them that my mother is having a sensitive stomach and can't intake cold water. Be considerate and compassionate at least...
Horrible! I got my drink after 4 persons they didn’t even remember they had to make my drink I was right there waiting for almost half hour… Bunch of girls talking to each other and not paying attention at all .. until I had to speak so they can remember my drink. Horrible dammm service no stars for me. And they get mad! Cause I speak up and made my drink and that girls slams it and says here …. Am like wow.. will not be coming here again these girls need training and how to speak to customers.. very unprofessional all of them. Am done.
I paid using my credit card. The server leaned over the credit card machine and pressed a button. I had a bad feeling about that and saw she added a tip!!!!!!! That's THEFT! Watch out
You don't need to wonder if these baristas hate his job it is very apparent. He seemed bothered when my order was placed and made my drink incorrect. When I apologized and said I'm sorry, I ordered it with.. he snatched the drink and added the smallest squirt of whip cream, and placed it back on the counter. Honestly, just make your way to Starbucks. dont be disappointed like I was. Get coffee from Einstein bros, Urth Caffe & Bar, or any other coffee place in LAX.
Six to seven people working and they took 10 minutes per customer just to take an order. They were more interested in chatting than helping. I was given a croissant in a pre wrapped bag whereas the girl next to me got a fresh warmed up one. I didn't get my drink until after the two people behind me did. Horrible. Struck me as racism.
The caramel "latte" has no espresso in it. I watched the guy pump some syrup then dump a scoop of powdery mix in and add the milk. I am trying to figure out who to email for a refund. It's too expensive not to get the half caff almond milk caramel latter I requested. I needs to have fresh espresso in it regardless of price. I know this taste- it's like those hot drink machines at the gas stations that dump the premade mix in and adds the water.
If you are looking for the worst possible coffee/food at the worst possible prices, you have found it! They substituted the chocolate in “chocolate” croissant with a paste. The egg sandwich at $15 is also a slap in the face. I would stay far away from this place. At the end of the day the owners are price gouging and are engaging in poor ethical business practices. I thought this was America!
Hands down the worst breakfast sandwich I’d ever had. Worse than an egg McMuffin. Wouldn’t even give it to the homeless. Wouldn’t eat it if you paid me the $10 I had to pay for it. Mediocre service.
I work at international terminal so this is my go to place. However I had terrible experience and management should fix the worker's attitudes. Night staff is always nice, but this morning two middle aged lady was very rude. I asked for less suger but casher didn't put it so I got the regular one. I told them that I asked for less suger and the casher and barista told me rudely that " I didn't ask". It's sad because whenever I go at night other staff is very professional and nice. Hope management correct their attitudes.
Horrible customer experience at this place. The cashier was not pleasant and rolled her eyes when I said, "Can I please have a white chocolate mocha?" She then proceeded to say white chocolate latte. Went to the other side, and all the employees were just standing there, not making my order. I got my coffee, and it was disgusting. I kindly asked if they could make a new one because it tasted like burnt coffee. They talked back and was annoyed about it. Will never go to any coffee bean & tea leaf.
Stopped here after my flight 2/29 around 2:15PM. The family in front of me made their order, one of the items was an iced coffee. The cashier brings over a hot coffee, they tell him they ordered an iced coffee, to which he smirks while saying “why didn’t you tell me?”. When they tell him that’s what they ordered, he doubles down and asks why they didn’t say anything while he was making the wrong drink, while smugly laughing. That’s right, he made his mistake their problem. It was rude and the family was clearly uncomfortable as they began apologizing. To top it off, when my drink came, the other employee hadn’t fully stirred in the powder to the espresso before adding it to the cold milk and ice, so it was clumped up. Side note / FYI - higher price than non-airport CBTL pricing and they don’t accept the CBTL app for rewards or payment.
Aussies beware. Despite how sleep deprived you are from your flight, avoid getting your first coffee from this place as you exit departures. It will scar you for life. Disclaimer: this review is based purely on Australian standards of coffee.
Absolutely terrible service!! The two girls behind the counter today, Thursday, December 7th, 2023, at 10:20am. were just messing around and trying different combinations drinks for themselves and not focusing on making the drinks. They were taking too long that one person walked out of the line. I placed my order many minutes after, and they only had my order to make. They had no other order. They forgot to make it. When they saw me standing there they asked what I was waiting for I told them my drink order and one girl told the other in spanish "you didn't make it". It was ridiculous!! It was the only order they had. How do you forget to make the only order you had? If they had stopped messing around back there, they wouldn't have forgotten. I asked for a refund instead because it was taking too long, and they said a refund would take longer and gave me my drink. Absolutely deplorable service.
- Stomach ache / irresponsible staff - I purchased an iced mocha latte with oat milk, for I am lactose-intolerant. When I picked up the drink, I asked the barista if it was made with oat milk, and they turned away and didn't say anything. I did confirm it was my order before I drank it, though. Later, I experienced severe stomach problems - you can imagine the rest. I contacted the CB CS online, and the first representative responded; however, I was connected to a manager that claimed I had reached the wrong person (yet that person seems to be in charge of some LAX CB stores? Unclear). I have contacted two more times over the month - it has been two months now, and I still have NOT heard back from them. I consider this a food poisoning case.
Worst coffee I have ever had. Ordered americano. Pure bitterness with no other taste. No wonder they are pouring all kinds of crazy flavor and syrup into the coffee.
Unbelievably rude staff messed up our orders 2 times in a row because they were chatting instead of listening to the customers (they let us stare at them talking for a good 5 minutes, and when we finally were allowed to tell them our order, they interrupted us to talk to each other again). When asked to fix it, they rolled their eyes and said “OH My Goddd!!!!!!!!” (as if it was our fault they messed up 2x) and absolutely refused to make it right. I never write reviews but today was extremely shocking. So shocking it’s almost funny 😂
Worst coffee and worst cold stale bear claw, this is the last time I’m ordering anything from this chain. As if the barista was doing me a favor by giving me what I ordered. There are so many people coming and going out of LA, at least there should be a scope for improvement and the stuff you sell to your customers be fresh.
🤣 how pathetic can people be. I selected 0 on the tips for the $6.59 coffee that I bought in the airport because I had about $5-6 left in cash and I was leaving US for a few months and wanted to get rid of it by giving it as tips. They served my iced coffee after 35 minutes because they could see there’s no tip on the order, so that kinda’ turned me off of giving any cash tips… 🤦🏻♂️
Probably the worst coffee I have ever had and that's a low bar. If you dont k ow what a flat white is, don't advertise it. Expensive burnt weak "coffee". For shame.
I came here around 7:45 pm and they were suppose to close at 9m on a Tuesday. A Very RUDE older woman named Felecia was working the front counter and as I was reading the menu patiently waiting to be greeted. She was busy complaining to a co worker about another co worker that apparently did not get fired but has received several write ups . When she finally acknowledged me she did gri with hello, or good evening .Her exact words were “I have no idea why your looking up at the menu, it pointless because I’m only serving coffee and hot tea. I ain’t serving anything on the menu up there” It was 7:46 pm. Her tone was unprofessional , rude , and over all uninviting. Felecia spoke to me as if I was her child . I didn’t mind the hot coffee or hot tea. I did mind her unprofessional and rude attitude. I will be following up with corporate . I am So disgusted with the way I was treated and I’m pretty sure she treats everyone this way . She was too busy charging her phone and trying to close she was not trying to be helpful or assist customers. I will never be back
March 19, 2025 at 3:43 pm I placed my coffee order at the above location . After 10 minutes of placing my order, I approached the cashier that had initially taken my order and advised her I was missing a coffee. She must've been triggered with my comment, she immediately started screaming at me in front of other customers asking me to not raise my voice at her. I clarified to her I was not raising my voice at her. She proceeded with yelling at me, at one point a co worker got involved and started hand signaling at the cashier to stop arguing. The second cashier asked me in Spanish what was going on so I replied to her in Spanish. The first cashier then continued to scream at me and replied with (do not speak Spanish to her and speak English if you have something to say) Her co workers and manager did nothing to address the matter. I have my receipts saved with the cashiers name I hope they start to train their baristas with great customer service ! It's unfortunate that a great coffee company like coffee bean hires unpleasant people like her.
Coffee is 8$ instant black coffee with maybe a minuscule hint of flavor. There were coffee grounds coating the bottom of my cup and it tasted nasty. The workers themselves seemed nice enough but goodness gracious is that stuff not pleasant, especially for that price. “Cookie Butter” tastes like absolutely nothing but plain old instant coffee. Could have made better coffee at home for cheaper.
Service was terrible, forgot one of my drinks, barista snapped at the customer in front of me, wrapped cookies smelled and tasted old and nasty, and finally my late drink cup and lid were dirty. I did not want to argue, so I paid and threw everything away. Find another coffee shop at the TM terminal.
This was at terminal 5, but it’s not coming up on the map. I got a large iced chai and it tastes nothing like chai. It’s mostly milk and the barista dumped a cup of some mystery white power/granules in there, maybe sugar, which would be disturbing. I also got a chocolate muffin which tasted bland. Would have much preferred anything from a Starbucks.
This might be a rage review but I paid for an iced coffee here (wildly mediocre) and requested a cup of water as well. It may be worth mentioning, I’m a very pregnant woman. I don’t expect special treatment in today’s day and age in California of all places, but denying me a water at a shop dedicated to giving out beverages, when I am a PAYING customer, is really insane. When I received my coffee, I requested a cup of ice (because I could see that at least they did have ice) and she said they don’t serve cups of ice. You’re joking me. You have ice and cups. Those are the only two ingredients necessary for a cup of ice. So I’m thirsty and pregnant and annoyed. And I paid $8 for a really gross latte.
Bad customer service from food handler. I received my breakfast sandwich but not the bagel and cream cheese. Not only did I have to ask about my order but it took forever and they didn’t call my name for pickup or said anything about the inconvenience of not completing my order.. customer service was bad enough to write this review.
On a bustling morning at the airport 26-Dec, they announced: “we only have decaf espresso and no hot coffee at all” You have one job as a business , and you failed.
Lady at the register gave me attitude for leaving a 1 cent tip on the card. I was planning to give cash but she rolled her eyes and said super sarcastically "Oh WOW, thank you SOOO much for that massive tip!" I'm flying out for a family funeral and that just left me gut wrenched. How miserable do you have to be about a tip at 8am ?
I was tired from my 18hr trip just to be welcomed by this rude (black lady) who seem so tired and unhappy of her work! Shes very unwelcoming, served Us the most bitter coffe we ever had! The worst coffe ever! No concern how their product taste like! Server seem dsnt care about their company (or maybe their company dsnt care about them and their product). My son (who is a chef and very knowledgeable about coffee) just stopped me from complaining cause its his first time coming to America and was welcomed with this rude and unhappy server with the worst coffe ever, just asked me to throw it away. Not coming back!
I was really disappointed with my experience at the coffee shop in the airport. The Carmel Macchiato I ordered was the worst coffee I've had in a while. It lacked the rich flavor and smooth texture I expected. The drink was overly sweet, and the caramel taste was artificial. The service was also quite slow, making it a frustrating experience overall. I wouldn't recommend this coffee shop to fellow travelers looking for a satisfying coffee break.
