Great space and insane portions. Ordered fish and chips and pot pie, great flavors and an amazing battered fish! We couldn’t finish the plates but they were good!
Rolled into this place since the other veggie friendly place (according to this app and meaning there might be a few veggie dishes on a mostly meat menu) nearby was packed, but expectations were fully surpassed. As a pescatarian who avoids greasy meaty meals, my arugula salad with added shrimp was divine. And the bean quesadilla, oh man, just super yummy. Wait person was fine, but since I was alone and an affluent looking 5 person table was nearby on this gorgeous-outside-in-the-back dining area, I was a tiny bit low priority, which is fine and makes sense. Maybe this review needs to be under the veggie old person alone category. Highly recommend based on this first visit.
We enjoyed lunch before a show at Hudson Hall. The breading on the fish & chips was delicious. Portions were generous. Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon on a latke was amazing. Cozy setting. Friendly staff.
This restaurant is a hidden gem for burger lovers. The burger was perfectly cooked, juicy, and packed with flavor, with a nice balance of toppings that didn’t overwhelm the taste of the meat. The bun was fresh and lightly toasted, holding everything together without getting soggy. The service was friendly and attentive, making the overall dining experience even better. I’d highly recommend this spot to anyone craving a standout burger and a laid-back atmosphere.
Stopped in for brunch on our travels back to PA. Sat outside as the weather was beautiful. Heather our server was fantastic! The food was delicious!! If we our back this way again we will definitely be back.
This is one of those truly GREAT surprises. We would always walk past, peep inside the cozy interior, review the menu and think "Hm this could be good but...how could thai curried vegetables, mussels marniere and a black bean quesadilla all be done well on one menu"? We took a chance one night and have been completely converted. The food is consistently impressive and there is something to be said for a place that always delivers on good, simple dishes with the highest quality ingredients. Hats off to the chef, Mark and the owner Alanna for providing what feels like a dying breed of restaurants that offer a cash discount, perfectly executed humble food in a historic space (ask Alanna about its past). What we can vouch for: the Caesar salad (with perfectly cooked chicken), the mussels (best in early summer), the fish and chips, shishito peppers and don't forget the fries and mashed potatoes.
We stumbled upon Red Dot Restaurant and were pleasantly surprised. This little gem offers good service and delicious food, with plenty of seating in the dining area. The hostess was fantastic and seated us at a nice spot up front. I'd definitely go back!
Our first time in Hudson, New York and were looking for a lunch place and happened to come across the “Red Dot” and were very pleasantly surprised. Food was great, ambience charming and service very helpful. Give it a chance, you will be glad you did.
The food was outstanding, the service was quick and efficient, and the garden was gorgeous! We randomly stumbled upon this place while walking around hungry and were NOT disappointed! The chicken meal was incredible, the fish and chips were perfectly crispy, and their calamari has ruined me from my local pizzeria’s calamari for life. All of the food tasted so fresh and well seasoned. Honestly shocked reading the reviews here, because we had an amazing experience.

Best brunch I have had in years! My friend, teenage son and I had brunch here in the Red Dot garden on a beautiful Saturday. Every dish was excellent! The eggs benedict on latkes was simply the best eggs benedict I have ever had. Every component of the dish was perfect...from the hollandaise on top to the perfectly cooked latkes on the bottom. The croque madam was also delicious and my friend was very pleased with it. My teenage son had the smoked salmon BLT and he gobbled down every bite in no time and said it was fantastic. Our bloody marys were also very good. I have been to a couple of brunch places in Hudson and this is by far the best I have been to. I will be coming back when in the area. Don't hesitate to try. You won't regret it!
We had a great brunch in the back garden.
Wonderful brunch, drinks and service. Have enjoyed the outdoor patio in the summer. Simply just great all around.
The red dot is the best restaurant in Hudson. I’ve never been disappointed the food is always great and Alana is wonderful and has become a dear friend. That’s how good it is.
Lovely garden dining. Mussels exquisite! Service kind & highly competent.
It’s a pleasure to have a respite from the trendy places that have been opening all over Hudson. A real neighborhood place, free of pretence. Great martini served in a chilled glass. Food was good, fresh, and hot served by Christopher, who was pleasant and caring. And it didn’t cost an arm and a leg. What a treat.
Been the best on town for many years. Our steady go-to for great food and fun atmosphere!
Thanks to Alana and St Nick for just about the most fun Sunday night ever!!! ❤️🔴
This is the best place in the world. Great bar staff Super cocktails Great conversation Jokes - no end of You can’t miss this!
This is my all time favorite restaurant in Hudson and has been for the last 20 years. The service is always impeccable, the meals are always delicious and perfectly prepared. Alana is always welcoming and friendly. This is the one place in Hudson that we can always go to and be happy with our meals. Must try calamari!!
Had dinner and drinks here on a Thursday night, it’s a warm and cozy longtime establishment with great cocktails and yummy food. Sampled the roasted chicken and the cod cakes, both delish. Plenty of seating, but sitting at the bar affords you the opportunity to chat to some very interesting people, including the gregarious proprietor. A must every time I’m in Hudson.
I ate here for brunch, and the food was delicious! The restaurant has a cozy, warm and welcoming atmosphere. It was extremely busy as there was a show happening so it took a while for us to get our food. However it was not an issue for us as we were not in a rush and the prosecco kept flowing!
I just had a lovely brunch today. I ate the Eggs Benedict with spinach and Canadian bacon. It also came with potatoes. I have been to the Red Dot but not in quite some time - I live by Copake Lake. The food was really good and portions were just enough. There was great music playing on the radio, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. I have been here for dinner and the place is packed. I will definitely come again - thank you. Susan
Staff and food was amazing! The Owner was very kind!
If you want the authentic Hudson, come here. There’s simply nothing better. The people who don’t like this place are just high maintenance, I’m sorry. Prices are higher because of inflation. If you want cheap, go to Burger King. The martini is like 14 bucks but they give you a shaker on the side with more in it, so it’s a 7 dollar martini. If you’re nice, they’re nice. Lovely people, great food, stiff drinks. This place has withstood 20 years, and it keeps getting better. It’s the real deal Hudson, it’s not the bs new stuff. Beautiful interior too.
Always, always great!! I have been coming to the Red Dot for 20+ yrs. Affordable, clean and down right good food. The owner Alana is worth the visit alone. And Marc, the chef, has always delivered.
We had a very nice experience. The menu is limited, but everything was great and fresh. The calamari was some of the best I have ever had. The wait staff was very attentive and pleasant. Will definitely return to try other offerings.
Very friendly service and nice range of menu options. I had the French toast, which tasted great and was the right size. The atmosphere is relaxed and the waitress was very friendly.
What a place! Down to earth. Beautiful garden seating with a Zen fountain and incredible plantings. It’s obvious the owner is invested in providing a memorable dining experience. The menu is imaginative but not out of reach of regular Joe. The Eggs Benedict over Latkas is scrumptious! The omelette of the day was flavorful and fluffy. The Caesar Salad is crisp with crunchy homemade croutons and not overly dressed. Bloody Marys are spot on, enough spice zip and boozy enough. Will be back for sure. Would love to try their dinner.
Eggs Benedict were fantastic! And Alana and Heather are great hosts! This is a REAL Hudson place!
Lovely quiet cozy atmosphere. Friendly and attentive staff. The potato latkes were to die for and naturally gluten free
Best Bloody Mary on Warren St! Incredibly friendly and efficient service. Warm and welcoming vibe. Excellent plates. Great place to saddle up to the bar or grab a window seat (or a spot in the back garden!) for a front row seat to experience life in Hudson and watch the day go by.
Caesar salad delicious! Chicken pot pie so great! Ariel the server so attentive and Dylan the bartender was amazing
Lovely atmosphere. The risotto special I was recommended hit the spot perfectly and the service was unmatched. Would come back anytime!
Great vibe and atmosphere. Fun to be there and great service, but not too fancy. The thai curry vegetables and fried calamari were awesome, but reasonable prices especially for the area. We had great ciders too.
We just bought a house in the area and this was our first stop! They have a wonderful little outdoor dining area with a beautiful garden and it’s properly social distanced so you really feel safe out there. I had the fried calamari to start and the aïoli was great! My wife had the fish and chips and it was delicious and for an entrée I had the Thai vegetables with chicken also really tasty! This will be our go to Monday night restaurant!
Always a great meal and great service at The Red Dot!
Exploring the town, this spot was the absolute highlight of my night. Great atmosphere, Alana and Patrick are SPLENDID, they had a guitar and I played it, great service, I heard the good was amazing but I didn't get a chance to try it. I know I'll go there again when I'm in town. So happy to have stumbled in. Thank you for existing!!!!
Food and desserts were excellent all around. But the highlight was the incredibly gracious service. The waitstaff of two handled the crowded backyard with efficiency, good humor, and charm. I'll be back next time I'm in Hudson.
Definitely one of my favorite places in town. This place is an institution of Hudson — can’t say you’ve been to Hudson if you haven’t been to the Dot. Things in Hudson have changed and it’s been drastically gentrified… but the Red Dot has stayed true to their original color. Old school vibe, great food, and funny atmosphere. Definitely should be on your Hudson hit list.
Put this on your list right now… When you’re in Hudson, you must come by… Friendly neighborhood atmosphere, wonderful staff, settle in and get ready to have a great time! We love the cocktails, delicious appetizers… Maine Cod cakes With spicy tartar and fennel, onion slaw were over the top! Definitely try the arugula salad. The lemon vinaigrette was fresh and delicious… Top with toasted pumpkin seeds and Parm…. had mine with shrimp had mine with shrimp. Fish and chips were crispy and fresh… Definitely recommend. Loved the red dot chocolate pudding that is house made… Don’t miss it! Be sure to try the crème brûlée as well it’s made in the house and exceptional.
Fun staff, fast service, chill vibe / ambiance - I had the burger and subbed fries for their famous mashed potatoes 🥔 so good! Burger was seasoned well and not overly salty which I appreciated. Also had chocolate pudding for desert. I came solo and felt very comfortable. A local gem 💎
Home cooking in a gorgeous setting. Everything was perfect from the special cocktails to the chocolate pudding. Sit in the back garden if the weather allows. We will be back!
Delicious food, delightful, charming waiter, Eric, and fabulous ambiance. 5 stars for the chef, the service and the elegant environment!
Beautiful outdoor seating, service was great, food was yummy. We had brunch- eggs benedict and a pork sandwich.
Heather was lovely and the eggs Benedict on potato latke were delicious! We sat in the booth next to the fireplace for a Sunday morning breakfast and it was so quiet! Even the music selection was great!!
Whether you sit at the bar or at a table for four or eight you will be satisfied by the food, drink and ambience But what makes the Red Dot special is that it is a true Hudson staple not a newly hip place…. When we first came here 25 years ago it was really the only place to hang out, see friends and have a great meal for a reasonable price . And guess what it still is !
Great place, food was excellent and the staff was friendly. Ariel was our waitress was outstanding 👏. She worked extremely hard to make our dinner, Perfect. Ladies like her deserve a hand ✋️ 👏
My husband and I had a welcome reception for our guests here for our wedding, and the Red Dot was the perfect place to do it! Alana and her team were super accommodating, and provided a beautiful and relaxed atmosphere. Most of the other places we checked out for events had ridiculous fees and limited flexibility, and wouldn’t have been any better. This place is an institution, a timeless and classic space that feels historic, while simultaneously fitting into the town that Hudson has become. Its atmosphere isn’t trying to be overly curated, it’s authentic and cool. Alana is hilarious; she’s a considerate and flexible host, and is full of great stories and opinions. If you want your guests to have a good time, go here. I couldn’t recommend this place enough!
Beautiful cabaret show! My wife and I went to the presidents’ day performance and loved it. Great food. Warm service - Heather was an absolute saint (the best in the world)!
The food is beyond delicious! Always a fun time, too. Xoxo
Sat in the beautiful garden and had the cod cakes to start and fish and chips + Sauteed Chicken. Delicious! Waitress was lovely.
If you looking for a fabulous breakfast or dinner on Warren St in Hudson, NY - The Red Dot is the place to be. Ariel was welcoming and friendly and knew just when to check in. The food was delicious! It’s a 5 star!
Great staff and service and amazing food 10 out of 10 definitely a must go every time we’re in town. Love the Garden!!!!
Absolutely beautiful outdoor garden, spacious bar and restaurant. Allows dogs in the garden if you walk around back and order drinks at the bar sans dog. They change their decor every winter season to a different theme. Alanna the owner and her nephew Jared made us feel very welcome.
Wonderfully Ah-mazing meatloaf, service and vibes. We will be back!.👍🏽
Some of the best food I’ve had, consistently deliver. Don’t be fooled by the eclectic menu, every item I’ve tried so far has been deliciously made with great quality products. Definitely a better choice than some of the trendier and more expensive neighboring options. I particularly recommend the mussels, the mashed potatoes and the Cesar salad with chicken. Give it a try, you won’t regret it!!
Best fish and chips ever!!! So delicate, delicious and scrumptious!
Anytime I’m in Hudson, I go to Red Dot. The ambience is fantastic, the food is delicious, and the service is wonderful. This is one of the OG places on Warren St at this point, and you can feel the love that’s been poured into it by the owner. Would highly recommend!
The Monday night meatloaf was amazing, and the chicken pot pie was excellent as well. Overall a great meal!
Food was delicious. Alana is great and very interesting a true local. A must if you come to Hudson
This cool funky spot was a surprise and delight in Hudson on our recent trip Food was delish The owner is a gem, the creativity was a pleasure
Brilliant experience from the minute you walk in. Warm, comfortable decor to super friendly service and INCREDIBLE fare. My personal favorite is meatloaf Monday!
Food is absolutely fantastic! Healthy options and huge portions with delicious, delectable dishes! Definitely a different atmosphere from most restaurants, unique and interesting. I would absolutely recommend!
Good food. Reasonable prices. Accommodated special request. Great low key atmosphere with lots of character. Clearly many regulars but greeted us warmly and made us feel at home. Will be our top choice when we return to Hudson.
I’ve been coming to red Dot for 15 years now. And I still love it. Food quality is excellent. Service is good. Wholesome atmosphere, great music, great service.
My husband and I have a pretty basic palate, so we were dying for a normal breakfast while in Hudson with just some good eggs, potatoes and bacon and red dot delivered! We were so happy! The coffee and OJ was great and the French toast hit the spot too! We were only bummed that we didn’t find it sooner. Wish we could remember our servers name but she had short blonde hair and was great! Thank you!
Cool spot! My wife got the chicken sandwich! It was just right. I got the eggs brunch special. The bacon was delectable. Service was spot on at the bar. Cool show going on next door. Free entertainment is always fun. We’ll be back when we are in Hudson.
Wonderfully eclectic little place. It's not too big, and either is the menu. They have a firm grip on what they do best, and they stick to that. Eric provides impeccable table side service, and Alana (owner) absolutely excels at crafting the perfect drink. She's honed her craft and it's second to none. Everything is the perfect balance of ingredients. Not watered down, not too strong, perfectly complimented with your preferred choice of mixer. If you don't come try this place out rhe next time you're in the neighborhood, it's your loss.

Love the ambience ( I sat almost alone in the back room). Fabulous, Super Cold martini..Generous size. Very limited menu, not much choice. Had to settle for a burger and fries. Was expecting a wider choice. Excellent service.
I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Warm, cozy pub, popular with the locals. I had a chicken dish that as listed as 'breast' but it ended up being a leg, but it was still very good. Fried calamari was a bit overdone, but the chipotle dip and the fried greens was a nice touch.
Waitstaff was pleasant and attentive. Decent beer list. I had the Mussels Marniere & Frites. The mussels were not overcooked and the broth was very tasty. Fries were crisp and well seasoned. I would definitely go back.
The menu here is a bit small, but each dish is incredibly different so there's definitely something for everyone. They also have specials that vary quite a bit from their menu. The food was pretty good - I got the Thai Curry dish and my husband got the chicken nachos (a special). The drink menu is definitely nothing to speak of. The wines are simple and the beers can be found at any place - nothing local on the menu, which was a bit disappointing. The service was quick and our server was very nice.
I've been going to Warren Street for over 20 years and never saw this place. In fact, we only went cause everything else was closed and I'm glad that was the case. The service was great, the food was very good. Other than the fake fireplace which gave us the giggles, we really enjoyed ourselves and we'll definitely be back. Calamari and fish and chips were really fresh!

The environment was lovely, but the food was disappointing. The fish in the fish and chips was bland, and the batter was far too thick, which completely separated from the fish. Overall, it just wasn’t good. I was also charged more than the amount I had written on the receipt.
I’m being generous with this review. The atmosphere, food and jazz combo were enjoyable, but the restaurant was horribly understaffed. I felt bad for the one and only server who was incredibly overwhelmed. What should have been an enjoyable, relaxing experience as part of the Hudson Jazz Festival was nothing but frustrating.

I’ve been to this restaurant multiple times and always had a great experience — the food has been consistently delicious and the service solid. That’s why I was surprised and concerned during my most recent visit when I found these small, hard, clear shards in my curry (see photo). I’m not sure what they are, but they were definitely not something you’d expect in a dish. A few possibilities come to mind — maybe others can help identify them: • Broken glass? • Pieces of plastic or packaging? • Crystallized salt or sugar (though unusual for curry)? • Hardened rice starch or something from cooking? • Desiccant beads from a packet? I’m really hoping this was a one-off issue, as I’ve enjoyed eating here before. Has anyone else experienced something like this?

Bartender was extremely rude. Called us "teetotlers" and made a face because we didn't order drinks, kept telling us that she was tired and couldn't wait to go home (even though they didn't close for another hour). We were there for maybe 30 minutes and halfway through our food before she offered a box and gave us the check. We were planning on ordering desert but she clearly wanted us to leave. She turned the music up really loud until we finally left because we couldn't hear each other talk. Very bizarre and off putting experience. The food was just fine but I wouldn't recommend this place if you want to dine in.
Really disappointing… very expensive for what we were actually served (recession sized?) I felt so bad for all the customers who came in and were turned away, they weren’t even halfway out the door before the bar tender started cursing them out, making faces at their backs and mother f’ing anyone who came in inquiring to those who were sitting at the bar. This happened the entire time we were there. Real mood killer. The hours were a bit confusing (the restaurant closes a few hours in between lunch and dinner it seems) so it happened pretty often. For such an “all are welcome here” front- the bartender had the actual meanest attitude to be in customer service. The only high points were our waitress and the Bloody Mary. Don’t waste your time you will be cursed out behind your back. Saddest 15$ chicken sandwich we ever had lol. Too bad because the ambiance could be really cool.
Billie the bartender(female) is very stuck up and makes bad drinks I won't return there. There's a lot of better ,classier places to eat
Tried this place last week because the photos looked beautiful. Environment is nice, food is horrible. Unfriendly vibes as well.
Came in on busy Friday night. Host came back and took away a menu from us "because we need one for another table". Like, okay, sure but also, having enough menus for all at a table is pretty basic. Never brought any water even though we asked for it when we ordered drinks then I had to ask for it again. Server couldn't tell me which items were gluten-free and said he would just go back and ask for every single one I may want. UMM, not the way. Really at this point it is 2025 and any restaurant not labeling these things is automatically docked a star. The food was simple but fairly tasty enough. Expensive for what you get. Tried to give us crap about having a gift certificate from 2018 but then said it was fine. Why even say anything then? Just, meh experience overall.
Whatever you do, don't get the chicken pot pie. $26 for a few pieces of chicken and what looked like mixed frozen vegetables in a stew. The calamari was the only highlight of the meal, and the vibe in the room off the bar is bizarre.

We went to the red dot and were forced to sit inside. It had been raining and cleared up, but nobody would wipe down a table for us. We should have known this place would be a bust based on how they spoke to us on the phone, but we gave it a shot anyways. Since we had to be inside, we asked to be seated away from people and were placed in a dark corner beside the service station. Still, we tried to give it a shot and ordered some drinks. Our server left our table in the middle of taking our drink order and it took a solid 10 mins to get drinks. I have worked in restaurants my whole life and so has my partner- we are always understanding and kind when a place is busy. After a few minutes, we decided to pay for the drinks and go elsewhere for several reasons. This is when the manager Alana came up to our table without a mask, very close and told us we had broken the law by not ordering food- which nobody had mentioned when we walked in. She continued to berate and interrogate us for another 5 minutes while we waited for the bill and tried to bully us into staying. They’re lucky we didn’t cause a scene and refuse to pay the bill because that is genuinely how rude she was. Not sure if they were understaffed or if Ms Alana owns the place, but you shouldn’t speak to paying customers that way. She had an attitude reminiscent of a 16 year old girl who’s parents told her she can’t use the car. Do not go here.
Showed up for a drink and we were greeted with service that was indifferent at best. The staff seemed somewhat annoyed that we were there. There was very little available (e.g. no sprite or ginger ale as mixers), and the very simple drinks we ordered were all over the place. The main reason we showed up was the garden patio, but we were told we could only sit on benches next to the door and not at the many empty tables on the patio because “those are for the dinner service”. Only two tables had sat down by the time we left.
The waiter was very nice, but the food wasn't good. My fiance couldn't eat her salad, a friend and I got burgers which were ok, but not worth $15, especially with the fries being terrible. My other friend got the chicken, she said it was ok, but again not worth the price. Don't waste your time, you can go so many other places on the same street and get higher quality food for a better price.
When you first walk in everyone looks at you strange, like you don't belong. I came in with a group of 7 and they were able to seat us right away which was a pleasant surprise. That's where the pleasantries end. A few of us in our group ordered some drinks. The two cocktails that were ordered had some strange black things in them. We brought this up to our server who was very understanding but the bartender, Alana, ( older woman with platinum blonde hair with a boy cut) was wretched. We were sitting by the bar so we could hear everything that was said but even if we were sitting across the room we would have been able to hear her complain about us sending the drinks back, since she was practically yelling at the waiter. She then proceeds to pour the drinks into a clear glass so prove us wrong that there was nothing in the drink and arguing with us about it. The whole group felt very uncomfortable about this so decided to pay for the canned beer that didn't get sent back. We asked the waiter for the check and he felt so bad for the experience we had that he said we didn't have to pay for the beer. We ended up leaving a tip for him because our interaction with him was the only positive out of this situation. As we were leaving to go somewhere else for food she is arguing and yelling at us for leaving. She kept asking what the problem was and we told her that there were things in the drinks and her response did not make us comfortable. She didn't want to hear what we had to say she just wanted to argue and curse at us as we walk out. Our group was very respectful and didn't want to make scene but she was on a mission to make everyone in the restaurant uncomfortable. I will NOT recommend this place. It was the worst experience I have ever had a restaurant. I'm not the type of person to write reviews but I feel this experience called for it. Enter this establishment at your own risk!
I usually don’t write reviews but this place deserves it because of my experience. The owner is one of the nastiest person I have ever come across. Food was okay, the patio is pretty and the service by all others was great - but by golly the owner is a spiteful, people-hating and self-absorbed lady. Some of the other reviews here say the same thing and I see why. She was rude, screamed at our group as well as the poor waiters who were so overworked. She was condescending and ill-mannered, just the worst type of person you can expect in a service industry. In today’s world, service is as if not more important than food quality - and we have come across many rude people in NYC but this was disgusting. Stay away - there are much much much better options along that street, I would recommend avoiding this spot at all costs. Feel bad for the waiters and hostess - they were so sweet but were clearly scared of the tyranny of the owner. I hope the owner reads this and tries to self improve and become a better person - she completely ruined our dinner.
The service was ok and the food was mediocre. I was "double-charged" for my to-go order and caught it about a week later. I tried to resolve it with the business but kept getting the runaround. Somehow, the store mgr claimed that she could not find the charge even with all relevant details (CC num, order items, time of order, etc..). She claimed she would look into it but after several calls, VMs, even text msg, they continued to ignore my inquiry. Incredibly unprofessional and inexplicable behavior by the manager. My group left a generous tip for the server, so Im confused why they would steal more money by altering the tip amt.
The food was decent, but the hostility and tense environment is at a level I have never seen in another restaurant, or any place of business. The person, who I assume to be the owner, is cursing at patrons and staff alike. She yells, is horrifically rude, and should not be in charge of anyone. I will not come here again and encourage others to do the same until it is under new management.
I don’t usually leave reviews unless I have great things to say about the place, but this place was so bad I gotta make a PSA. I paid $20 for 3 small latkes, and my buddy paid $15 for raw peppers in olive oil. Also, the waitress was unkind for no apparent reason. Super hostile environment. Would not recommend. The owner of the establishment followed us out of the restaurant to yell at us that we didn’t tip enough. Bad vibes in a town with so many good options.
Food was okay, and waitress was very nice, but the owner was rude to customers and her staff. Made for an awkward and unpleasant experience for us dining in, especially if you’re seated by the bar.
