The coconut soup was outstanding, yet a little too spicy hot for my taste. Maybe it should be asked if the customer wants it that spicy 🥵
Egg sandwich with lemongrass sausage is out of this world. Very good pastries & drip coffee as well.
I love this place. Everyone is so nice and ai love getting my coffee and mochi dougnut. Its the best.
I had the breakfast sandwich which was delicious now back for lunch trying out the vegetable green curry. Yum!
In a word.. delicious! Fresh tasting, delicately prepared... happy and satisfied.
Great lunch, amazing GF bakery, and just good people.
Great people making delicious coffee and pasties. All are welcome here!
I can't even with the mochi donuts. Divine!
Fantastic Cappuccino and the mochi donuts are amazing, get 2.
Excellent coffee and aesthetic. A must go if you’re in the 518

Incredible coffee, atmosphere and food.
The mochi donuts are divine!
Delicious coffee with sitting outside
Breakfast sandwich and mochi donuts are what I go there for, and they never disappoint. ♥️
I didn't end up eating anything but the options looked very good.. so i couldn't rate the food.
Très propre, très bon. Excellente adresse pour faire une pause.
Heerlijk gegeten leuke zaak
I cannot emphasize how much I love the breakfast sandwich here! I’m from the west coast and make it a point to come here every time I’m in town. The sambal, the fried egg, everything… oh so good. I hope the menu never changes!
Arguably the best mocha I have ever had. Super nice and helpful people, laid back, comfy atmosphere.
This is an amazing place to go for breakfast / brunch as we did. Everything here has a unique flavor and is delicious. French toast, egg sandwich, mochi doughnut, coffee was a great way to start the day. The owner and staff were amazingly helpful and very patient as we were quite lost when we walked in. They were great with our little ones. And place is dog friendly as well.
What stands out about the Morningbird cafe is the service, and the quality of the coffee. As baristas, Bennett and Konnie excel in presenting a delicious cup of java. Bennett and Konnie provide fast,, and friendly service. As a team they work seamlessly if delivering your food and beverage in a most efficient and timely manner.
A beautiful space with the most delicious treats and coffee!!!! The food and treats are stunning. Don't miss out on the well crafted pastries and the delicious food, shout out to the mochi donuts and the sausage sandwich wow!
An awesome coffee shop if you’re ever in town. Great coffee, and a beautiful light-filled location in a historic building.
First time. Great coffee and the homemade pastries are spectacular. We tried the gluten free doughnut and a coconut macaroon. Both were splendid.
Morningbird provides a delicious, friendly, and comfortable dining experience in a beautiful, well-lit, open space. Excellent coffee, exceptional pastries, and their lunch menu is sublime. We are fortunate Morningbird landed in our town!
Wonderful restaurant. Dropped by yesterday for lunch with my wife and daughter. The breakfast sandwich was superb as was the duck fried rice. Shrimp with glass noodles came in third place but everything was eaten . Will return.
Delicious breakfast sandwich, even with egg only. Mochi doughnut should not be ignored, and the coffee cake was also terrific. Kinderhook is such a cute town to walk around, with wonderful old houses to pass by.
Awesome spot to chill and get out of the cold. Great food at amazing price points for the quality being served. I had the Larb dish when I was there and also the Mochi donuts. Simply delicious. Will surely be stopping in on my next visit.
This place is awesome. A little slice of Brooklyn like coffee spot in lovely Kinderhook. Excellent food and drink in a warm and open atmosphere. Abuts The Aviary a delicious restaurant for dinner.
the most absolutely delicious spot! wow. truly blown away. had the rice noodles and they were incredibleee. my friend had the fried rice and said it was their favorite! really really good. highly suggested 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Wonderful addition to the square in kinderhook! Exquisite food great coffee charming staff. The egg sandwich is worth the drive from Hudson!
Excellent coffee, thoughtful service, and even a discount for bringing our own cups! Apple rye coffee cake was delightful and unusual.
We've only gone a few times, but each time we've gone in the morning. We grab lattes, gluten free mochi donuts, and GF chocolate coconut cookies. Lattes are strong (which we welcome!). Baked goods are delicious. It may sound ridiculous, but I think it's kind of brave when baked goods have a generous amount of salt in/on them. The savory-ness bring these into a different arena than typical sugar-laden "desserts". Makes them memorable. They even made our kid a special steamed milk drink when they ran out of hot chocolate for the day. She loved the heart on top! Everything is so good that we dream about the mornings when they are open so we can come back. Also best place to eavesdrop on conversations 😂 it's happened to us and we've done it to others-- at least to get the feel of what's going on in Kinderhook.
New place to have breakfast and lunch. Limited menu but food n drinks were great.
Ok, stopped by with several family members on Sunday. Perfect cappuccinos and lattes. The breakfast sandwich with spicy Thai lemongrass sausage and scallion aioli was perfect - and if you have never had a fresh from the oil mochi donut you have not lived. We had a toast special with papaya and other great green tasty treats on it (forget the name but see the photo! ) sweet but paired well with the spicy sandwich. The owner and staff couldn't have been nicer. The giant windows and white interior area are maybe a little stark for some but the vases of fresh tulips on the tables added a bit of color and cheer. Can't wait to come back for lunch/ dinner as my son and daughter in law have taken out on multiple occasions and have nothing but accolades. (and yes, I took a bite before the photo..... I will take that blame)
Cozy cutie spot with great vibes. The latte was smooth and creamy, and the mochi donut? Chewy, soft, and just sweet enough. Perfect for a chill coffee break.
I'm not sure what kind of culinary witchery the place does to make such a unique and delicious egg sandwich. I've never tasted anything quite like it. The mochi donuts are also out of this world. Very impressed with my first visit and will definitely return.
This is a great place to stop in kinderhook. The food is Vietnamese inspired with a Hudson valley twist. They serve lunch and dinner most days. We got the vegetarian glass noodles which were superb and the breakfast sandwich. The egg was cooked perfectly and the milk bun is made in store. They also sell a few odds and ends as well as some unique pastries. They had a mochi donut that is really unique and a must try, it was very good! The same aff here are also very friendly.
Stopped here during a bike trip along the Empire State Trail and it was just delightful! The food was delicious (we tried a breakfast sandwich), the coffee was excellent and the service was great. There’s also an adorable shop next door called OK pantry that is a great place to check out too! And I should mention we bought a mochi donut to enjoy later on the bike ride and OMG it was amaaaaazing!!!
When food tastes so good, you don't want it to end, your taste buds go on an adventure, and tell you mind, this is where it's at? That is the delicious lunch menu by First Class chef Hannah Wong. Highly recommend the Veg Curry from the lunch menu, my friends had the Spicy Tamarind Soup, and on several occasions said how delicious the flavors were. Thank you Hannah Wong, I'll be a regular there, and can't wait for your other upcoming businesses! DE-LICIOUS
Cute and clean little coffee shop with an inviting, chill vibe. Coffee and tea were great as well as the pastries!
Great breakfast sandwich and coffee and great staff, but when I went, the crowd was pretty pretentious. Not the places fault, I guess, but if I could I’d knock off half a star for it.

Very good lunch! We enjoyed the uniquely flavored duck basil fried rice, richly flavored glass noodles, and the awesome grilled cheese twist on the scallion pancakes. Also loved the mochi donut - texture/taste reminds me of a fave pastry growing up in Asia. Glad to have stumbled upon this gem on our drive back to the city. Highly recommend!
I love this cafe’s lighting and drinks. I enjoy the food but a personal take, I wish they would make the whole menu gluten free since it looks like they would only have to switch to an alternative bread and granola to do so. Their mocha donuts are delicious.
Loved this bright beautifully appointed Cafe. We had an EXCELLENT brekky sandwich and veggie curry! The mochi donut was warm and freshly sugared and SEXY! We also enjoyed the coffee cake and the chocolate cookie. Robert was a doll! I wish there was a bigger selection of food on the cafe menu but I'm imagining that will happen in time. The sell food related gifts like unusual tableware, teas, magazines. I thought the lemonade drink was way too sweet for my palate but there's water available to cut it, so you can get two drinks for the price of one. They carry high quality teas which makes me HAPPY as a tea person but I would add a strong black tea and a mint based tea to their selection as well. We will be back!
Morningbird has a beautiful, artsy, welcoming interior. The display wall with glassware and snacks for purchase is lovely. The menu is interesting and ever-changing. The dishes are thoughtful and well-executed. I agree with another reviewer who said "if you haven't tried a fresh warm mochi donut you haven't lived." My favorites are that, the potato croquette, and a new item this week- Vietnamese coffee French toast with coconut whipped cream and maple syrup. It's a real gem in the area!
I can’t believe it has taken me so long to eat here!! The most delicious breakfast sandwich I have ever had in my life, seriously. Great atmosphere and lovely staff.
Stopped here after a hike for a quick breakfast sandwich to-go and I am not exaggerating when I say it was THE BEST sandwich my boyfriend and I have ever had. Mouth is watering just thinking about it hours later. Perfectly crispy egg with mildly runny yolk. Juicy, sweet pork sausage. Fresh salad greens drenched in chimichurri. Lemongrass was the star of the show though… Will have to come back!!

Excellent breakfast sandwich, nice pastry selection, and very good coffee options.
Came in with 30 minutes until owing. No more coffee available but was able to work with what they had. This is a great stop in Kimderhook.
Very good food, pricy, but a nice treat
This is a cute place with some good food and coffee offerings. Food is limited, but they do it well, which I’ll take. I’ve been here multiple times, and the only complaint I have is the guy working the counter is the most emotionless person I’ve ever seen working a coffee shop.
Excited to see the Mill sending out its first shoots, Hannah Wong's food is loaded with flavor, from the curry to the tamarind soup, even transforming that most variable of staples, the egg-and-sausage breakfast sando into anytime delightful surprise. The space is forwarding the new esthetic of concrete, light, and yes, corrugated steel is definitely allowed. Not pretentious, but ambitious in its preparations and its relationship to the patron. Welcome to the square!
Nice ambience, rotating menu and nice coffee
DO NOT get the mochi donut… you will never stop thinking about it and you’ll eventually be shopping for bigger pants. Delicious food with veg options! The staff is awesome, coffee options are delicious but I wish there were more flavoring choices. Atmosphere is an aesthetic vibe but sadly, not very cozy. Nice to sit at the windows and watch the goings on in town though.
New Kinderhook restaurant has 3 or 4 breakfast and lunch choices and a separate menu for dinner. The food is delicious and the restaurant seating is well spaced and clean. There is also outdoor seating. We also enjoyed two of their wonderful pastries: hot cross bun and a heated donut.

Food choices are all spicy....too spicy
Straight to the point, I was not a fan of the dark roast. I went in there very enthusiastic and half expecting to become a “regular” after my first visit. I was really hoping to get a good brew and it tasted like something you’d get on an airplane; very similar to Cosmic Donuts, whose coffee was absolutely terrible. I cannot speak for other beverages or the food. The gentleman who served me was very nice. I grew up in Kinderhook and seeing what they did inside was a little upsetting. It is nothing like the old Treasure Shop which was so inviting and magical. People new to the area will never know what they missed. I actually had a “pang” in my chest when I entered and saw how stark and white it was inside, but that doesn’t really have anything to do with Morning Bird as a business. In the future I may consider giving them another shot.
The kitchen was closed the morning of my visit...but there were 3 pastry offerings available. I had a savory butternut and Gouda turnover- which was tasty. The cappacino was frothy and well crafted. Prices were in line with the "new Kinderhook" scene. As a longtime member of the old treasure shop staff (in several capacities over the years) I had to satisfy my curiosity- which I did. The interior is rather austere and not overly welcoming - but the young man working (alone it appeared) was extremely pleasant!
Do not care for it. Very expensive and do not serve cooked breakfast food until after 09:00 a.m.
The other day, the coffees were lovely, barista was friendly and efficient, but it did not seem like a place I’d want a friend to work. Management was visibly and audibly disrespectful of her. Not the first time I’ve seen the same here, but compelled to review, as it seems to be systemic. Also, are they understaffed? Maybe because of …? Who are these people that feel comfortable being that kind of boss in 2022?
I was traveling,I picked morning Morning Bird because they have a food menu. We order coffee and find out that the food in not available for at least another hour … The male staff was BEYOND rude… There’s a bunch of other coffee shops/ breakfast spots in the area I wish I would have went to instead. Coffee was good but expensive. Not worth the way the male staff treated us.
When we first moved to the area two years ago Morning Bird was our go to coffee spot. The barista at the time was excellent and the drinks were consistently great. Over the past year we have had one too many disappointing experiences which culminated in the following. My wife ordered a cold brew. It was served in an 8oz hot to go cup. She was charged $8.64. That’s right, eight dollars and sixty four cents for 8oz of cold brew in a hot to go cup.

Extremely disappointing experience here that could have been remedied if the staff cared enough to show any level of care. We ordered at the counter at 11:15am and only received 3 orders by 11:40 with 4 orders still missing around 11:50. The staff was completely unaware and seemed to have zero level of urgency in correcting this problem. The French toast that did arrive was drenched in over cup of syrup and the server spilled syrup on someone in our group as she was setting it on the table. They automatically added oat milk to one of our drinks when we never asked it as well as an additional meal (yogurt and granola). We noted to the girl who took our order at the register that we did not add these to our order and the response was snippy and rude, asserting that we must be mistaken - someone with a nut allergy does not accidentally ask for oat milk. The cashier tried to help us get a refund at our request because we were tired of waiting for this food at this point (30+ minutes later) but then she didn’t refund us correctly multiple times and was unable to give us a return receipt. The manager was suppose to come speak to us, but never showed. All in, we wasted over an hour here. It’s Unfortunate because of the few things we did receive - the fried omelette/ rice and mochi donut - were tasty, but would not return again given how bad the service was, even for a casual / order at the counter place.
