This place is excellent! We used to live in Thailand and I can say the food and the service are spot on. Friendly staff, delicious dishes. I even love the location and the feel of the place. Give it a try! You wont be disappointed!
We ate at Thai Kitchen tonight. It was the first time we had been in since before the pandemic. It was clean and the food was really good. It has been a good experience every time we have been there. We will definetely go back.
Great, fresh, authentic food at a low key, family owned restaurant. Better than a lot of Thai food you’ll find in bigger bustling cities.
Fast friendly service. Food was out in an excellent short amount of time. Combination fried rice was the best I've had in a while. Bring your appetite because one order is big enough for two.
This is my go-to spot. Pad Thai, Thai iced tea, and fried tofu are among my faves. I've been going here since I moved to Lubbock and recently learned they are now closed on Tuesdays which is kind of a bummer. I highly recommend this restaurant, the staff is always kind and attentive. The food is always delicious and portions are perfect.
Ate there today for the 1st time. Let me tell you everything tasted so fresh & can tell it was made to oder. Let's just say I highly recommend & will definitely be going bck. Found my new favorite places. The staff was awesome & very friendly. The appearance doesn't look so good but it's definitely a whole in the wall type of place.
Craving Thai tonight so we found this place on google. Decided to try it based on the reviews. WOW so glad we did. My new favorite place in Lubbock. Sa ta and eggrolls both delicious. I got the beef fried rice and my boyfriend the crab. My mom had the BBQ spareribs. Huge chunks of fresh crab , and the ribs were so tender with a great sweet chili sauce served with them. Everyone from the waiter to the cashier were extremely friendly. Can't wait to go back!!
Food was delicious. Seemed like it was more of a take out place vs a sit down location. Ordered drunken noodles, Tom Kha and Pad Thai. Absolutely LOVED the drunken noodles at the spiciest level.
Very good authentic Thai. A few things have been adjusted to appeal to the American taste but they do well with trying to stick to the authenticity of the dish. Try the Larb Gai, I'm sure you have never even heard of it, its a huge favorite in eastern Thailand.
This place is small inside and nothing to write home about, but the food is awesome!! I personally love the yellow curry, I get it every time and am never disappointed! I also get the chicken sa tay because their peanut sauce is great. The service is good and I always enjoy going there. Would highly recommend!
Great place! One of those great hole in the wall joints. Don't pass this up! Great service, great Pad Thai, and GREAT prices. Nothing above $8 on the menu. Will be my go to Thai place now.
This is a hidden gem. Don't let the location spook you. Food is great and service is fast and friendly!!!! Also they have covered parking. What other restaurant in town provides that?? (hint: none) Edit: Just ate here again after someone telling me it was closed down (it is not). The food was just as good. Their green curry was just simply amazing. I'm planning on eating here again very soon.
Taste, price, portion size, and service were all excellent. We had the Pad Thai and the Yellow Curry. The outside of the building doesn't have the greatest look, but as with most things in life, it's the inside that counts. The inside was clean and comfortable. We will be coming again and recommend to others.
Food is very fresh and provided very fast.
Friendly service. Clean, calm atmosphere. DELICIOUS, authentic Thai food.
Passing through Lubbock and wanted Asian food. SO happy we chose this restaurant! Green curry (with chicken) was as authentic as when we were in Thailand! Not too hot not too mild, just right. The Pad Thai did have thinner noodles than normal however the flavor was excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant. Do not let the sketchy location fool you... that is what makes it authentic.
Best thai in Lubbock very authentic they have great prices and the food is consistently good i would definitely recommend them.
Simple and really tasty food. The decor is basic but don’t let that fool you. This was all served one hour before closing.
The food was great! Very friendly service. Took good care of us. We sat at outside table to eat. Highly recommend the egg rolls. Curry was delicious! It is in an interesting spot and building. Worth the hunt!!
Out of the Thai places that I have tried in Lubbock. This is hands down the best. Not only is the service good, but this is the most authentic food that I have had here. The thing that sets Thai Kitchen apart from other Thai places in the area is the fact that they have the full traditional condiment set. That means no matter how they make your food, you can adjust the traditional Thai flavors to your liking.
Damn good food, I've eaten there about 20x's now and its always great. If you call in an order for lunch its ready in about 5-10 minutes on average. The best part about this restaurant is they are actually nice and seem to care that you have chosen to eat here (unlike other Thai restaurants in town)
By far the BEST Thai food I have ever eaten. Would definitely recommend to everybody. I had the chicken fried rice spicy. And let me just say it’s was SPICY! will be ordering often from Thai Kitchen!
You know you've got the right Thai spot when the focus is on the food, not the decor. We couldn't go in due to COVID restrictions, but the food was amazing. The red and Panang curries were great with a good amount of spice. I highly recommend this location for wonderful Thai fare.
We just discovered this restaurant! We've had a booth at El Mercado Hispano for going on 6 months now and never noticed it. 🤦🏻♀️ So we went for lunch today and I had the green curry with chicken which was fabulous! One of the best I've ever had in fact. My honey ordered the medium pad Thai with chicken & shrimp which I snagged several bites of as well. Also a fantastic dish from this establishment. I will definitely be returning often for my lunch needs while we are working.
Delicious! The fish cakes were a little rubbery but flavor was good. Only complaint is the spicy food I ordered was not spicy at all, next time will tell them to make it extra spicy.
My boys are students and love Thai Kitchen. They took us, and the food was fantastic. The low key and basic setting made it even more enjoyable.
Best pad Thai in Lubbock. Also great yellow curry. I know everything else is good too but I can’t help but order my favorites!
You have to love people who are passionate about their food and are working hard to deliver great tasting food with their community. We were visiting Lubbock and dan no idea what to expect. We pulled up to the restaurant and was wondering if we were in the right place. We went in and reviewed the menu and decided it looked great. We ordered a lot of different menu items and were impressed with each. Most notably is the effort that they make to use authentic ingredients like Kafir lime leaves which I am sure are hard to find in Lubbock, I know they are hard to find in larger cities like Dallas. We had the spring rolls which came with both chicken and shrimp. This is the first time that I had chicken in a spring roll, but it was very tasty. The spring rolls were served with a delicious peanut sauce. Next, we had the coconut chicken soup. This was a very traditional version of the soup and had lots of flavor. For our entrees, we had drunken noodles and green curry. Both dishes were very traditional in style and had some great vegetables included in them. There was the perfect amount of spiciness to each dish.
If you have been in the streets of thailand, this is so nostalgic. The food is really good. Taste is authentic and not those commercialized taste we always see somewhere else. They are out of mango sticky rice and the papaya salad but for sure will go back here and get those tasted when available.
We ordered the coconut milk red curry with chicken, hot and sour soup, egg rolls, and chicken fried rice. Everything was very good, the chicken fried rice was a little bland for my taste but my daughter enjoyed it. The portion were generous, enough for 2 meals for me. The service was pretty fast, about 10 minutes to receive our entrees. We will go back, often!
Best Thai Curry I've had since moving to TX. I've tried several other places but this was so much better. Genuine Thai chef. Food is amazing & authentic
Love this place and location and will continue to support whenever I am in town. I bring my friends and I constantly get takeout from here to take to my friends and or work colleagues. I’ve even bought enough Thai fried rice to take to a luncheon as a food item and it was a big hit! The owner here is super nice and friendly and I definitely recommend coming here even though I know the drive is kind of out of the way for a lot of us. Definitely recommend there Thai fried rice as I think they have the best in town. That and the chicken coconut soup is super delicious! Best wishes to your business and I applaud your expansion.
We live in Houston with great Thai food. This is still some of the best we have had. Had Pad Thai noodles and Chicken Coconut soup. Second time, still delicious and we can add sticky rice and mango to the list of great food. Ignore the outside of the building and go inside to enjoy wonderful Thai food.
We always order for pickup and have never had a bad order. Food is amazing and service is quick and efficient. Favorite Thai food for downtown hands down!
I was passing through Lubbock and needed vegetarian food and was concerned about it being 6 pm and we were the only ones there. But the food was really good! I had red vegetable curry and the wife had pad ty. There is no table service but they did bring the food to the table.
Thai food is my favorite and I live in a small town so I can only get it when I go to a bigger town (Lubbock). They stay open later than the others and I came in probably about 20 mins til close. They where more than willing to serve us. Just loved them. The food is great, very cozy. Would definitely recommend 👌
She was friendly when we picked up the order. The soup has fresh garlic or ginger and the wonton chicken was tasty. Our pad thai was delish. You get a good amount of food. So worth the drive.
We are a family with two teenagers so the portions were great for our small family. Both of my teenagers came out filled up and even had a tiny bit left over. There were no complaints at all about taste oh, they were very prompt, and efficient.they checked up on us three or four times as we ate, even bringing us lovely chopsticks when we asked. The prices were great for our budget And the food was really good. I would recommend this place to anybody
The food here is ALWAYS fresh and bursting with flavor. My current favorite is the Drunken Noodles, they come spicy so be careful with adding more spice. I have had the green curry, yellow curry, Special fried rice, Tom Yum soup... I could keep going, but honestly all the food is so delicious. Plus the staff is super friendly. They do have some beer and wine selection.
Best drunken noodles in Lubbock!! This is my go-to Thai spot in the city and my recommendation to anyone seeking out consistently tasty and authentic Thai food.
Be forewarned that Thai Kitchen is not 5-star fancy, but some of the best Thai food I have ever eaten. Conveniently located just a few blocks off I-27. Don’t be scared off by the run down appearance, the inside is tidy and clean, with plenty of tables. The owner or waitress are quick to greet you, and the food comes out surprisingly fast. There is a nice selection of appetizers, soups and entrees to choose from. The descriptions on the menu are accurate, but similar enough to each other it pays to ask questions. First everything was made with fresh quality ingredients. The spring rolls were awesome – light, yet very flavorful with a delightful peanut sauce. The portions are just right and prices are very reasonable. If you like to spice things up, be sure and ask for the spice tray – with several sauces of different intensity. One of my favorite places to eat in Lubbock.
Flavor rich food and attentive staff! Didn't run out of water while having my spicy drunken noodles. I also asked for my pineapple chicken fried rice to have the chicken on the side and they made it happen. Food didn't take more than 10 minutes to come out. It was delicious, affordable and the staff was attentive. 5/5 would eat here again!
Live music, and good food! i think all food could use more flavor. overall it always good to eat here. The staff is attentive and beautiful ladies I eat here everytime I eat in Charlotte
This is a delightful, quaint little Thai restaurant, run by Thai staff who are wonderful ambassadors for Thai food and Thailand. The Thai decor is simple but pleasant. On entering we were graciously greated, given a menu, and we chose our own table. After deciding on our selection, we placed our order at the order window and paid. The order was out in less than 10 minutes. My wife had Won Ton soup with plenty of Won Ton dumplings, veggies and a flavorful broth. An appetizer of shrimp wraps with sweet & sour sauce were also enjoyed by her. I went with an appetizer of Fresh Spring Rolls that were filled with sticky rice and, long shredded carrots, scallions and a chopped peanut paste in the side. The Spring Rolls were fantastic but I leared to go easy on the crushed peanut paste as it over powered the delicate taste of the Spring Rolls. The trick was just a light dab of peanut paste and a light dip of sweet & sour sauce to compliment the Sring Roll. For my entree, I had Basil Strir Fried Rice with pork. This dish was complimented with cloves of garlic, diced onions, scallions, cilantro and a slightly sweet sauce with maybe a touch of ginger. The first taste was fabulous and each bite just got better and better. We were both completely satisfied with our meals.
The people and the quality food make this restaurant a winner. The quality of their food is exceptional. If one is looking for something other than the usual Thai restaurant with authentic Thai cuisine, you should try this restaurant. You do order at the counter and the food is brought to your table. Water and ice are available by the entrance. WARNING: if you are not use to the heat of authentic Thai cooking get mild.
Absolutely incredible. You can smell it from the outside (which is always a good sign), service was what you'd expect from a small kitschy place with attentive staff but a stand-offish nature, food tasted wonderful and was very cheap at only like $8-$10 per plate. For appetizers we had the Angel Wings and Crispy Fried Tofu. For our meal o had Beef Krapow and pretty much everyone else at the table had Drunken Noodles of some kind.
Food is excellent, service is prompt. Although the interior needs some renovating. Looks very "hole in the wall". I enjoy green curry dishes which this place offers and it was very good and extremely hot. I will be coming back to this place! I gave 4 stars but only because of the shabby appearance. Else it would be 5.
Ordered the drunken noodles with beef for carryout and it was very good. The food was hot and ready when I picked it up and the service was fast. The drunken noodles weren't spicy at all, but I'm sure you can specify to have it hotter by request. I'll definitely be coming back to try some of their other items.
The food is really good, doesn't get much traffic inside. For the most part, people make pick-up orders instead. Their other location is very good as well.
Went with large party for first visit to Thai Kitchen. We were waited on promptly and they were attentive throughout. Favorite dish was Green Curry-$6.99-with chicken and vegetables. Red curry with beef -$6.99- also very good. I thought the Pad Thai was excellent-$7.25- though it was a little sweet for some of our company. Beef Salad-$6.99- had excellent flavor but meat was a bit tough. Ground pork Larb-$6.99-was good but could have used some chilis and more lime juice. Thai Kitchen stir fried noodle-$6.99-was very tasty, a bit sweet. Spring rolls were freshly made-2 for $3-and served with a peanut dipping sauce. Wonton soup -$3.50-was too garlicky for kids in group but the adults enjoyed it. BBQ spare ribs were giant with a good flavor. Overall, looks like we have a great new addition to Lubbock!
Love the yellow curry chicken amongst the other items. Service is a bit cold, but their food balances it out. Overall a wonderful Lubbock spot to get something tasty!!!
A very decent Thai food restaurant, do not let the neighborhood deter you from trying it out. I have chickened out on a few occasions because I was sketched out by the neighborhood but now I don’t regret actually coming in at all. Wish I took pics. Inside is nice and very friendly staff. My food came out in 7 mins. I will probably dedicate my Thai food cravings here from now on while in Lubbock.
Be sure to order Thai Tea, for only $2, at this place. It is super sweet, with a wonderful authentic flavor. The Pad Thai here doesn't have the depth of flavor that other places in town have but it is still tasty and worth ordering. This is a hole in the wall place, which is not super easy to find but it is a gem
Thai Kitchen is always a good experience. It's easy to make a takeout order online and the staff will notify you when the food will be ready so that you can time your arrival. Today we had the green curry with tofu and the larb na noodles with vegetables. The curry was especially flavorful. The noodles and rice were perfectly cooked. Vegetables were tender but still firm. Portions were appropriate for each person and the price was very reasonable.
Thai Kitchen is Lubbock's most reliable & accessible, affordable & friendly, hospitable & delicious Thai restaurant. Open daily from 10:30am to 9:00pm (Closed Tuesday), the owner is always on site and the food comes quickly with the freshest ingredients you would expect for food from the ancient Kingdom of Siam. The covered parking is a plus with our West Texas weather. For Thai food in Lubbock, Thai Kitchen is where it's at, on Texas Ave at 23rd St near where I-27 bends West south of downtown.
Moments of brilliance, but disappointing overall, twice we've asked for vegetarian options for our kids and twice they've either put chicken or bacon in the dish. Spicy designation is very arbitrary; sometimes "spicy" is just "mild", other times "spicy" means corrosively inedible, and I am a spicy food veteran. That said, owners and staff are wonderful and when they're on, they are on point.
Was ok. Good price but very generic. Clearly like the tofu Where's your generic package stuff. Etc
In the beginning I had really good experiences with this restaurant— but the past few times ive gone there has been atleast one thing wrong. There seems to be a consistent issue of receiving a incorrect order (sealed in a bag so unless you are checking at the restaurant and not in a rush you won't know) It might just be my experience of not learning to check it at the restaurant, but you would hope you were receiving the correct order... Besides the Take-Out issue, their food is tasty and delicious!
In my opinion, the food didn't stack up to the reviews on yelp at all. I ordered the pineapple fried rice and it was pretty bland. And it literally only had two shrimp. Also there was no pineapple chuncks as i wouldve expected. Thr flavor was bland and didn't taste like pineapple fried rice, my wonton soup was also bland. The food came out quick though and the portion size was good / filling. The service was ok.
I’m not from Lubbock, and went to this place based on reviews. I had the spring rolls and pad thai and was sadly disappointed with both! The rolls were very plain and their peanut sauce wasn’t pretty nasty. The pad thai, which had good reviews was very very bland. You can’t return anything, because they have stated in their menu that if you don’t like it, you still pay for it. The servers were friendly though, but I’m not likely to ever go back again.
Got food to go, asked for soy sauce and the lady behind the counter had an attitude and didn’t even hand it directly to me, as if it was an inconvenience for her. Food was bland. Take your money elsewhere.
The food was okay. Drunken noodles was good, but pad Thai was bad. Service was okay. It was raining heavily when we came, so we did not smell anything. However, outside of this place smelled like urine after the rain. We would not come back here again.
Well the environment is ok simple but clean. But the food is like just fine. Not really authentic and some of the noodle we ordered is different than all the Thai restaurants we went to before don’t know why
I came to Lubbock on business and chose this restaurant based on the reviews and for its proximity to the hotel I was staying in. I got two dishes just in case one was disappointing. Unfortunately, both were really quite difficult to stomach. The food was rather salty and oily, resembling more Americanized Chinese food than Thai. Given the high reviews, it seems to be well received none the less, but the few locals I asked recommended other Thai restaurants in the region. I certainly wouldn’t go back myself. Turned out to be a waste of money. Service was otherwise prompt and the food was reasonably priced.
We were really hoping to enjoy our visit to Thai Kitchen in Lubbock, but unfortunately, it missed the mark. The atmosphere felt dated and lacked the warm, inviting feel. As for the food, it was just okay—overly salty for some dishes or too sweet for others. It lacked that bold, savory depth that Thai cuisine is known for. We left feeling underwhelmed and unlikely to return.
Service was horrible, waitress was rude and food was awful. Ordered pad Thai and it didn’t look or taste like it was supposed to. Got a refund and left immediately
Horrible. Won Ton soup is bland. Ordered drunked noodles, not sure what I got. No flavor. Ordered fried rice, not sure what they gave me. No flavor whatsoever. I've had better Thai TV dinners. Big mistake coming here.
My family is very confused about the high reviews, in comparison to the food we just had. Strange smell from shrimp pad thai, chicken pad thai, and, panang curry. We almost decided not to try at all, it was that off-putting. After 3-5 bites from each of us, we lost our appetites completely. Pad thai was gummy, with minimal sauce, and no peanuts or spice. Partner eats panang curry regularly, and said it tasted nothing like the dish he has eaten all over the country. Fried tofu was gummy-to the point our 2 year old choked on a piece that wouldn’t break apart (already cut into quarters). Chicken egg rolls also gummy, and strange flavor. Can’t say we’d order from here again.
I ordered the single most popular dish all Thai restaurants are judged on, Pad Thai. Not sure what the hell I was served but I tried not to judge a book by its cover and I tasted it, Nope. It was watery and super sweet. I wanted to add that all other pics of their Pad Thai dish on Google reviews looked great which is why I wanted to try this place. Not sure if the quality of their dishes has declined in recent months or what. Unfortunately I had a bad dish. The pic speaks for itself.
Not very friendly. Ordered soup without mushrooms(allergic) and it looked like extra. I think it was the wrong soup. Padthai was ok. I've better other places. Over all bland. No spice no thank you
Lady was super rude when I asked questions about the menu. Almost like it was a burden to explain things to me (1st time there). We won’t be going back. Food was too salty and didn’t taste authentic Thai.
This was a very prejudice experience. I called in for my wife and friend graduation eat in, and was told if party less than 20 we were fine. I had 19 guest, the restaurant was extremely unpolite, very mean spirited and bad communication and dismissive, they made the experience unpleasant for my wife graduating party and guest, we had to leave for the rudeness and attitude. I will never recommend to an enemy. The atmosphere was also very dirty inside, the chairs disorganized. The external had many strya dogs that could be threat to kids and family ....DONT GO!
The lady that took our order was awful. She was so rude. My husband order tom yum spicy. It was so bad, There were tons of red chili flakes. I will never eat here again 😒 😑
I was craving pad Kee mao so bad and was left so disappointed 😞 Not really flavored until I poured the whole sweet and sour container on it.. I asked for combination and I got a few pieces of each meat and a pc of shrimp.. there's no egg in there, no vegetables besides a few onion and bell pepper pieces.. not spicy.. I'm so sad.. and the portion wasnt that great...
I don’t know how to put this in the most respectful way but you will not get Thai food from this restaurant. Maybe it’s Thai food for those that has never had it before, but the flavors are extremely watered down and the recipe is something extremely different. I would say it’s “Thai food” to white Texans. I ordered “pad kra pao” and what I got was stir fry pork in oyster sauce. This is extremely disrespectful to the Thai cuisine and culture. I left the restaurant after taking a couple of bites. I know it’s tempting for those traveling to stop by because it’s close to the highway but I would recommend you to go somewhere else. You will be disappointed here.
You have to serve yourself, it's not a normal restaurant experience needed to get all the utensils. I ordered the egg rolls and Thai barbecue chicken, the egg rolls would be 3/5 they were really doughy and had almost no filling. The BBQ chicken was just a rotisserie chicken from the store chopped up in pieces, it had no BBQ on it and when I asked for some sauce they said no that's the way it comes. I spent $19 on this meal. Would not recommend, if you are in the area go to Fun Noodle you will like it better.
