My wife and I went here for our anniversary dinner, and it was an outstanding idea!!! Our server Jared W. was just amazing!!! Very attentive and yet not too much, had answers when asked, and great upselling skills as well, we'll get back to those in a min. To start we got the Banh mi nachos and duck wings...wow were they good, no great!!! The duck was just right and so tender and the wonton chips made the nachos so much better!!! For the meal we had the PB&J burger which was so big I could only eat half, what I did finish was the side of smoked gouda shells and cheese that Jared upsold me...and i am so glad he did, it was the creamiest ive ever had. The wife got the Shrimp po boy which was also very very good. All around Griffon Gastro pub in East Aurora is a top notch establishment and we will be back again. Also very good Covid-19 precautions!!!
Great food, a bit pricey but worth the cost. Mahi Mahi with mango salsa was absolutely delicious, it was moist and tender and fell apart in your mouth. I would make a trip to East Aurora just to have this sandwich. Best I've had north of Florida! Nacho are also a good choice for an appetizer, not a fan of the pizza egg rolls, there are better ones at the Chinese food restaurants. It is a bit dark in the restaurant, I saw and heard complaints about needing to use a phones flashlight to read the menu. Overall great food and place to eat.
Food is excellent. TONS of gluten free options available on the menu - the most I have seen!
Great service. We came in early for our reservation but the staff was very accommodating. Food was excellent. Definitely recommend.
Three of us stopped for a late lunch on 11/1 and I'm so glad we did! It was actually our 2nd choice, because The first place we went to was packed. So glad that was the case though, because this place was fantastic! I had the beef on weck, my husband had the steak tips and pasta, and our friend had poutine. And our server was great, despite her having her one arm in a sling. Poor girl, I felt so bad for her, but she did a fantastic job!! Will definitely stop again if we're in the area.
Griffon Gastropub was the perfect spot for our larger group! The staff was friendly and accommodating, and everything came out quickly despite our size. My personal favorites were definitely the cocktails and appetizers. They were creative, flavorful, and perfect for sharing. The entrées were also very good with generous portions that left everyone happy. Great atmosphere, great food, and a great place to go with friends or family!
We stopped here during a roadtrip on a Wednesday evening, there was plenty of availability despite a steady flow of customers. The menu is extensive and has several allergens/dietary preferences marked clearly on the menu. They have many dishes that can be made gluten free including GF buns. The server we had, Paige, was extremely friendly and observant as well as funny and very attentive. The food came out quickly and was well done and tasty. They offer beer samples and have wine, ciders and other options, they have something for everyone. The atmosphere was fun and comfortable with plenty of natural light. Highly recommend this place if you are in the area.
First time here for date night and everything was delicious, and our server was so nice. I got the chicken caprese which the chicken was so tender and the basil pesto/balsamic dressing was so flavorful. My husband got the wild game burger and the meat of the day was duck which was yummy and unique. We loved the the french fries as well. Drinks were good. Overall would definitely go back.
We both loved our meals and drinks! She had the GF Mac and smoked gouda cheese with chicken and asparagus while I stepped out of my comfort zone and had the P,B &J burger. The service was great and restaurant just clean enough to keep the 5 stars. Our 2nd visit was just as good as the first. She enjoyed the Salman.
If I could give it more than 5 stars I would! Was visiting the area for a weekend and the food was so good, I had to eat there a 2nd time before heading for home (Pittsburgh). Chicken and waffles sandwich with a side of mac & cheese was one of the best meals I've had in a long time. Everything that came out of the kitchen looked amazing. Staff was super friendly and the atmosphere was lovely. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the Buffalo area.
Very friend staff, clean establishment, and great food. I had a wonderful experience. I got the Wild Game Burger. The game of the day was Ostrich and it was the BEST burger I've ever had! Very tender and flavorful. There is a parking lot, so no hassle of having to search for parking 😊
I went here tonight after a few past attempts to get a table but met with wait times past an hour. My partner and I were able to get a table with no wait. Our server Matt was very friendly and polite. He was very helpful when I asked about a cocktail menu and gave us a dessert menu following our meal. The S’mores Martini was to die for! It was so good. Same with the fried grilled cheese bites, they were so favorable. My meal was the chicken caprese gluten free which was so good, probably the best pasta I’ve ever had. I have four stars because my partner’s griffin burger was way too salty, he still ate it but said it was just too much salt. All the food and drinks came out quickly with barely a 10 minute or less wait for them. Which was surprisingly considering it was 6pm on a Friday!
Good experience eating here. The staff was very friendly and happily answered questions and made adjustments to our meals as needed. I had the panko chicken sandwich and it was good but a bit salty. We also had the pizza logs which were different, interesting, and delicious though I wish I had let them cool down a bit before eating. I also enjoyed the root beer on draft. Overall glad we chose to eat there and. Sd passed through town.
In all fairness I need to say that I am extremely disappointed with my experience here. My wife and I have been to the location in Niagara falls and had a great dining experience. I remember my waffle in my chicken and waffles was a little dry, but everything was very tasty. When we looked at the menu at the East Aurora location, we were having trouble choosing what to order because everything looked so amazing. The selections are different from many restaurants we've been to, and we were excited to try a few different things. The calamari was really good, but that's where it all ended. My wife ordered the crunchy fish fry, which is the main reason we traveled to East Aurora on a wintery day. She had been talking about it for a couple of weeks and was really looking forward to it. However, it was overdone and burnt. I ordered steak tips that sounded absolutely amazing on the menu, but my first bite into a piece of meat was an instant no thank you. The meat was cooked in a way that made it have a liver taste. That happens when beef is cooked in a crowded pan and steams, or if the meat is high in iron or possibly from an older cow. The waitress hadn't even stepped away from the table and I told her to take the plate away because it was awful. She apologized, and you can tell felt bad, then asked if I would like something else. So I said I'll look at the menu again and let her know. It took a little longer for her to return to order what I wanted, but I decided on the wild game Burger. I asked for it to be medium with pink in the middle. I knew that some of the proteins in the burger could dry out fast because they were leaner. The burger that I got was overcooked and very dry. I ate about a quarter of the burger. I unfortunately had to tell the waitress that it was not good and that I wouldn't be eating that. She again apologized and asked if I would like something else, which at that point I was not interested and waiting any longer for something else. So she said that she would talk to a manager. She came back and said that the manager would discount the bill and take off my original steak tips. I would expect they be taken off because I didn't eat them to begin with. I also told her that I wouldn't be eating the burger. She came back after talking to the manager and said that they would take 15% off the bill and reiterated that they took the steak tips off. As if to say that was something they shouldn't be doing. So my bill comes and they took 15% off of a $27 burger. She told me that the restaurant manager had left for the evening and I asked to speak with whoever was the manager in charge. The bar manager came over and apologized and seemed very understanding and said that she would take off the drinks, which were I believe a glass of wine and maybe a beer or two. I also mentioned to her that my wife wasn't really complaining about her fish but I explained to her that it was burnt and she didn't really enjoy it. The bar manager asked if we would like maybe a dessert to take home, on her, to make up for a little of our inconvenience. The waitress came back with that receipt, which was over $70. I looked at her and said I'm not even eating the burger. She asked if I wanted to take it home I said no I won't eat it. When I said that I was not feeling that they were really resolving this well, she mentioned that she took the drinks off and discounted the burger and fish fry while also giving us a free dessert. I told her I didn't even care about the dessert that that was something that the bar manager offered. I told her to take the dessert back if it makes a difference. She then assured me that this would be passed off to the general manager and I would have somebody follow up with me within the next couple of days. It is now 3 weeks later and I have heard from no one. I even explained to her that we drove from Amherst area to East Aurora just for their fish fry and were disappointed with a majority of all that we ordered. I was really hoping I didn't have to write this review.
Some of the most chewy filet medallions I've ever had... I'd say they were sirloin tips over filet ones. Corn fritters were raw inside and crab rangoons were super chewy. For how amazing we were told the place was... I hope it was just an off night.
I was very excited to be here as it was my first time. The place was elegant and nicely decorated, but then they had dead plants as decor right where you walked in, and that made me feel kind of sad for them. We ordered drinks, appetizers, and entrees as well as desserts, and I have to say their food is on the spicey side. The lobster curry soup had a great flavor, but I felt it was over powered with heat and wish I saw that when I ordered it, but then ate some corn fritters and those absolutely stole the show! The best corn fritters I've ever had! Absolutely delicious. I then ordered their signature mac with some steak, and it is smoked gouda, so you have to be a gouda fan. I enjoyed that. We also ordered the crab appetizer and did enjoy it as well, but it seemed as though again there was some spice that was added to it that was giving some heat, so it took away from the savoryness of the dish. The chocolate cake was pretty good as well. If you like heat to your food, you will absolutely love it, but it was kind of unexpected for Mac. I can totally understand the curry, but I wished the menu mentioned the curry was spicy. Our server and service, though, was impeccable, and I absolutely felt very cared for and taken care of and treated wonderfully. She was amazing! The only other reason for the 3 starts when it comes to the atmosphere besides the dead plants was the floor was extremely slippery. It was a very strange coating of some sort that I totally don't get, even in the bathroom. The place is clean and tidy with great centerpieces, but older people better watch it because they could fall, so I would consider maybe a liner to make sure that floor texture is more secure. I'd go back again and try new things because of the service, and perhaps it was an off day, but now this place has huge potential.
My burger was the worst I've ever had. The bun was dry and almost stale, the burger over cooked, smelled and tasted funny. Like it was grilled with wild game. $22 for meh fries and a horrible burger. My husband like the steak sandwich, but still pricey.
Good looked amazing. I’ll give them that much. Our appetizer is really what saved our meal. The fried “grilled” cheese was amazing. Delicious and came out fast and hot. I got the beef on weck, I took a bite almost as soon as it got there and the meat in the sandwich was freezing cold. Ended up taking some of the meat out so it wasn’t so cold. My partner on the other hand had a double order of boneless wings, he tasted them and so did I and it was so over cooked it was barely edible. I’m typically not one to write reviews but this one I had to, especially for the price we paid for food we barely ate because of issues with the food. It was crazy. I should have said something at the restaurant but luckily for them I don’t like to start issues. Our server was amazing though.
Went last night for dinner and ordered the umami bomb with chicken instead of tofu. The wrap had 3 ingredients and missing most of what the menu listed. All I got was chicken with rice and carrots. No green onions, sliced cucumbers, pickled ginger, cilantro or umami sauce. Tried to eat the other half for lunch and just too plain and dry to even eat. Been here a bunch of times and never had this problem before. I guess I should have ripped it apart last night while I was there to see why it tasted so bland.
When a place smells as soon as you walk in, thats a bad sign. It smelled like they hadn’t cleaned the bar in years. They serve the wings in these tiny bowls, so they end up all piled on top of eat other. This causes the wings on the bottom to get steamed. It was like eating rubber. I think I got food poisoning. Avoid this place at all costs.
