One of our favorite pubs to come to when visiting the area. Food and atmosphere is fantastic!! It’s honestly, the best fish and chips plus they have a good wine selection. Our service, this time, was a bit too relaxed and our young waiter seemed to forget we were there at times (had to order drinks at the bar). However, I would recommend you visit this pub. It’s a dog friendly pub too!

A beautiful and well looked after pub in the Cotswolds. Our favourite part of our meal here was the service. The staff are warm, friendly and accommodating. The garlic, parsley dressing on the lamb was incredible. I'd have a whole bowl of that. The team here knows how to make a good sauce/gravy. Also recommend the cheese soufflé - soft fluffy and not eggy. Place comes with a bit of a price tag - we spent £100+ on a 3 course meal for 2 with one pint and a soft drink.

Wow wow wow! Wonderful restaurant! My wife and I came here for a Sunday lunch after a short stay in the Cotswolds and it was the perfect end to our trip before the drive home. The staff are friendly and very accommodating. They served both of us with a smile and made excellent recommendations. The food was delicious and you are served plenty of it. Usually portions sizes shrink as quality goes up. Not here. They are unapologetic in their sizes and do not compromise on quality or price! The whole meal was extremely reasonably priced! If you are in the area, do your self a favour and stop by. You will not be disappointed!

Beautiful country pub and Sunday lunch was lovely. Had the butchers mix and it was a big meal with a great variety of vegetables. Service was great and a decent range of drinks. I would certainly recommend and return

Amazing food! We came here for my wife's birthday with the kids and have to say both service and food were top notch! The pub is beautiful. With the world the way it is the staff were brilliant and attentive. This was our first pub visit for months and we had a great time. I'd highly recommend the butchers block, there was more than enough for one hungry adult and the ice cream desert was delicious. Generous portions, friendly staff and great location.

Enjoyed a tasty Sunday lunch here recently. Starters of black pudding scotch egg and beatroot goats cheese salad.Fir our mains, I had the belly pork, which came with a separate section of greens, and my partner had fish and chips. It was very busy and hence a little noisy too.

My picture doesn’t do justice, this was the very best Sunday roast I’ve ever had. Everything was so perfect, especially the side cheesy cauliflower! Great food, great atmosphere, great service. 5/5 pub!

An increíble and cozy place. The food was amazing. We had the "Cecina de leon", The twice-baked Double Gloucester soufflé, some tendersteam broccoli with chili, but the star of the night was the Pan fried chicken, creamy mash, seasonal greens, madeira sauce... for dessert lemon, salted caramel, and straberry with mint ice cream and sorbet. With a double Laphroaig whisky. Top of this trip to UK so far. If you happen to be around this part of the world... you should make a stop for sure.

We have driven past many times and it has always been busy, decided to book and was not disappointed, in the reviews Tom Parker- Bowles rated The Potting Shed. Don’t risk being turned away, make a reservation and if you want a certain meal eg Roast Beef make sure you request as it may go in later sittings. Please visit and you will not regret it.

This was a really nice place. Dog friendly. Cosy, nice aesthetic, friendly. Great food. Nice outdoor area. We walked in to get dinner without a reservation and not knowing that they didn't start serving dinner till later. So I asked to reserve a table. Due to being busy, it was going to be 2 hrs later. We were staying at a hotel just next to the pub. They called us not long after to say they had a table available. Would recommend this place for food or just a relaxing drink.

I recently dined at this restaurant and I have to say, every dish was absolutely delicious. The flavors were well balanced and expertly prepared. The service was also top-notch, the staff were friendly and attentive. The restaurant exceeded all of my expectations and the food was of top quality. One dish that stood out in particular was the sticky toffee pudding. It was the perfect end to a fantastic meal. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great dining experience.

Great menu with something for all. Top recommendations are the cheese soufflé and the very tasty burger. All was good. Service was attentive. Great selection of beer on tap. I would definitely come back.

Outstanding pub meals, pork steak special was a highlight, the burgers were great and i loved my linguine with chilli and crab cacio e pepe, huge portions. Lovely cheerful service in a super location. The wine profit mark up for a glass only (£12!)was the only sour note in an otherwise great meal.

As I get to older and morph into a grumpy old man I like to leave grumpy reviews, sadly I cannot since The Potting Shed is fantastic !! I nearly said 'its awesome' and the outside beer garden was terrific to sit in the shade with a cider in the sunshine. it even refused to rain on us, we snuck back inside and enjoyed an incredible lunch. Order the black pudding scotch egg and thank me later 😄

During our 3 day stay, we ate here twice. The food is really good and the service is excellent. If you're staying at The Rectory Hotel, it's only a few minutes walk away so perfect for guests.

Absolutely beautiful countryside pub in a historic building with excellent food and a cosy atmosphere. Staff were great, perfect balance of attention. Ample parking around the back of the building for anyone driving.

An amazing old English pub with great food, really friendly professional staff. The pub interior is so quaint and decked out beautifully. I really enjoyed their scotch egg special of the day, haggis, and their double baked cheese souffle that they are known for. Can highly recommend this pub for lunch or dinner. So glad we were able to get a dinner booking.

I had a wonderful Sunday roast pork belly. I wouldn’t normally choose pork but it was recommended to me. So glad I did! Delicious and so much of it! All the veg and Yorkshire pud were so yummy. I took home what I couldn’t manage. Staff were so helpful and kind. Thank you

Cannot recommend highly enough. We were made to feel so welcome despite arriving with a dog and a toddler who insisted walking around the pub all night. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our meal despite this and even entertained her for us whilst we ate! The food was delicious, we left feeling very round. Thank you!

Such a lovely pub. Visited with family (6 adults 3 kids under 10) on 30th Dec. Great food and reasonably priced. Large portions and all seemed to be homemade/ fresh. Really tasty food. Lovely vibe/ atmosphere to the bar and restaurant. Service was good.

One of the best meals I have ever eaten. We went as a family and everything was delicious and pretty much perfect. There are so pub friendly options (such as steak and chips), very inventive options (korean pork balls), and also classic options (meat and veg with really amazing sauces). I think the last time I had a meal this good it was either Woods, Dulverton or Auberge de l'Île, L'Île-Bouchard. It just hit the perfect balance between inventive and "solid" without a hint of pretense. Well done to everyone involved, and thank you.

Youthful, vibrant atmosphere in the pub (great for millenials and gen-z). Families seated throughout the restaurant, occasionally with children. Service was great receiving a menu for each person. A minimalist approach to the menu, but with everything you could need. Artwork, candles, fireplace and wooden interior contributing to this rustic feel. Excellent atmosphere overall (see the images posted). This is my third time at The Potting Shed, and all my friends - even those recently introduced - rave about the place. A little costly with a 4 party meal coming to ~£30 per head (£122 total).

Nice food and ambience. The food was top notch with reasonable proportions for a gastropub. The staff were happy and helpful checking at regular intervals. The devilled crab and trout starters where fresh and fragrant with not too much mucking about. The mains where equally well prepared and presented with little embellishments to what was expected. The desserts were delicious too. Our party of 4 had an optional 10% surcharge on the final bill of £140 for two starters, four mains, three desserts and drinks. Overall we would eat here again.

The scotch egg and the cheese soufflé are so delicious! And the chocolate mousse is yummy too. Though the ribeye steak is ok but not great, overall it’s a pleasant experience. Do make reservation!!!

We had a wonderful celebratory dinner for an anniversary. We even had our own small room which was very cosy. The food was delicious and the staff were lovely. Good selection of local and international beers and a well.priced wine list. Highly recommended.

Perfection through simplicity. Beautiful decor, warm and friendly ambiance, impeccable service (by Olivia👌) and a wonderful evening meal experience. Food was delicious and elevated with small touches such as cracked rock salt over fresh butter with our bread, we enjoyed starters of asparagus with egg, black pudding scotch egg, seabream with grilled vegetables for main, and delighted with the thoughtfulness of a happy birthday brownie for dessert. Will be back very soon 😊

Perfect balance of relaxed ambience and top end food and service. I love all the decor which respects the building's heritage yet enhances it and makes it feel fresh at the same time. Our food was amazing . Beautiful twice bakled cheese souflee. Pheasant schnitzel, really good local cheese board and lovely desert wines. Great service from a new young lass. It was busy and they were all rushing around but the food came quickly. One of the best meals out fir a long tune time in terms of service, ambience, food and environment. A Superbly crafted restaurant pub but not in the least over done or pretentious. Completely recommended.

Very nice Gastro pub. Very good food. We especially enjoyed the fish stew. Decent wine and beer selection. The staff did a very good job and were very welcoming. The building itself is also very nice and has a very good vibe.

Our third visit this summer to the Potting Shed and this will become a regular from now on. Rarely you go out to a Restaurant where every aspect works so well. Lovely atmosphere, smiling efficient waiting staff, nicely paced and most importantly great food.

As a tour guide in the Cotswolds, I took a party of American clients to the Potting Shed for lunch and were really impressed by the food and service. On a personal note whilst waiting outside, Luke, the manager came out and invited me in to enjoy a scotch egg as he knew I would have time to do so whilst my guests ate their meals. A really kind gesture and delicious to boot. I look forward to returning very soon. Top service.

Popped in for a drink. The garden is always lovely but too wet to enjoy. The pub is busy, with most tables booked for food. The staff were great at fitting us in for a drink only. The only downside was the volume of the piped music. A bit too loud to be able to talk easily. Overall a lovely pub.

Stayed at the hotel across the road and had a dinner reservation here. The decor is nice and the restaurant is pleasant. Our starters were 10/10…delicious Mains 2/10… I had the pan fried chicken and my wife the mac and cheese. My chicken was dry and so was the mashed potato (v.dry), veg good but carrots rock hard….uncomfortably so. My wife said the mac and cheese was far too heavy on the truffle sauce and mushrooms and more like a veggie Alfredo. She ate maybe 1/4 of it. We ordered fries (don’t judge) and in my view, pubs need to stop this daylight robbery of ‘presenting’ a thimble of them in a cup which is 70% paper. Not good enough for £5 in my view. Service was ok and the staff were friendly if a little busy elsewhere.

D
Don Welch

We arrived early for an 8.30 booking expecting to be able to have a drink in the bar only to find that they have max packed the pub with tables that are exclusively for dining. There was barely room to stand in a miniscule bar area. The staff member resetting tables was curt, borderline rude. We were seated at 8.30 to be told the kitchen was closing soon. The dinner service was pressured and rushed. The food was good and is no doubt responsible for the success of this establishment. However, in our experience it is less a pub and more a restaurant with a tiny bar.

Mostly good food but we probably won’t be returning any time soon sorry. Some big positives but a couple of mishaps took the edge off for us. It’s always a gamble eating out on Boxing Day and this wasn’t a disaster but had a couple of things been done differently we almost certainly would be back. Scotch Egg and cheese soufflé starters were fantastic. My cod was cooked fine, but my mums halibut wasn’t handled very well and came overcooked, over-seasoned and dry which was a shame for a £30 “special”. After asking me to taste it to double check she wasn’t overreacting, my mum mentioned this to the waitress, who later said she couldn’t do anything about it as my mum had eaten most of it. (She left over half the fish in my opinion, but hey!) All I think was required here was to pass on the chef’s apologies and offer a free coffee or something, and it wouldn’t have been an issue. As it was, it kind of left us feeling like the place just didn’t really care about the quality of food served or customer satisfaction. Then, after we’d ordered pudding and coffee we were told we had just ten minutes left to finish up and pay up. That was the first we’d been told about this - and hardly a relaxing Boxing Day lunch! I’d phoned to book and phoned more recently to check the booking and hadn’t been given any warning about this, either time. Why let us order puddings and coffee and only then tell us we have to leave? Hmph! Had it not been Christmas I’d have asked to have the automatic 10% tip reduced. This was a place midway between me and my mum, and we’d both driven an hour to get here - there are plenty of other places to choose from of course so we’ll look for somewhere else next time. Must be a great pub to have on your doorstep for a quick pint or two - and not unreasonable prices for gastro pub style food, if the quality was at the right level across the board - but I won’t be making a special trip again to here. Shame because it could be a really lovely place with just a little better customer service, care and attention! Ps - top-tip for management - consider doing something about the step into the little dining area before someone has a nasty accident - either better lighting or better warning signs - my 82 year old mother fell flat over on her way into the room. No harm done thankfully!

Its okay, good location and popular with the locals. Menu had a good range, decent portions. Service was just okay, given the automated service charge.

Visited for lunch. Lovely meal but were abruptly ushered off our table to make way for another booking. A great shame to have our lunch cut short in this way

Came in for lunch today around 12pm 06/09/2025. Food was amazing and my table server was lovely, believe she said her name was Ellie. We enjoyed everything however , I would recommend choosing new bar staff. The lady that greeted us wasn’t very welcoming and quite honestly felt a bit rude. Everyone else greeted us with smiles but it felt she didn’t even want us to be eating at the pub. Once we arrived at the table we were glad to see that our server was a different girl. The food was incredible. I had the fish and chips and the portions were huge. Definitely would recommend to others. Maybe just some better training for the bar lady regarding her hospitality skills.

We were recommended this place for a Sunday lunch, Unfortunately it wasn't worth the 30 minute drive. To start It took too long to get seated, our table was positioned in one of the most inconvenient positions available. Chef got starters wrong so had to wait for them to be corrected. The black pudding scotch egg was fantastic. The roast beef dinner was warm, cauliflower cheese was hard, roast potatoes were pre cooked and dry. Due to the messing about at the start and table only available for a time limit it seemed like the waiting staff were in a hurry to get us off the table for the next guests. I'm sure this place has its good days but for us once was enough.

L
Lauren Jackson

Very average food with minimal taste, coke tasted disgusting like it had zero syrup. We sat on the table that backs onto where the food is served, and the female member of staff moaning she wanted to go home. We asked for the service charged to be removed when the male member went straight to the female staff memeber and moaned as we left they continued to moan we hadn't left a tip! Im sorry but if the food, drink had some taste, and staff moaned behind closed doors then id score higher and of paid the service charge.
