Food was really lovely, we did the 3 courses for £50 with wine which was great value, the service was also amazing, thanks again!!
My new favourite Sunday Lunch in town. First time had beef, then tried chicken and got hooked. Had chicken 3-4 times now and each time it was succulent and cooked to perfection. Gravy is sooo delicious too. To top it off, Velvet has the best wines in the Village and a great outdoor sitting area along the canal.
Best Yorkshire puddings ever! Meat was real tender The team were really friendly Classy bar with great music Really enjoyed it thank you I will recommend
Absolutely faultless!! Present for me and my beautiful girlfriend from my children and what a lovely place! Amazing staff and service and the food is second to none! Well recommended 5⭐️+ from us , thank you ❤️💙
We popped in and had the double hanging chicken kebabs, very tasty, could’ve happily eaten them again, great atmosphere and service
Can’t fault it here. Lovely meal and great service. Well apart from Maxi serving us. Only joking he’s a top man. Thank you very much
Love the Village Brasserie. The service, food and decor is excellent.
Max is the most helpful man on planet Earth
Great Sunday dinner great place great team thanks
My wife & I came here with Virgin Experience Gift Card. We had three courses c/w bottle of wine. Excellent, service, friendliness & courtesy and best of all, the food!. Very good quality / quantity food for all three courses. Can't fault anything Highly recommend to anyone. PS - Enjoy a cocktail, or two, before your meal upstairs in the Lounge Bar. Many thanks, Jen & Dave.
Located in pedestrian area of the overtly gay village - however the restaurant itself quite traditional and isn't specifically "gay". Food and service are very good, possibly there might be access problems for prams and wheelchairs as the main venue seemed to be below street level in the basement.
Ferdinard] has been amazing! Their exceptional service and genuine care made every experience a pleasure. I’d happily return and highly recommend them to others!
6 friends and I had a wonderful time here. The food was delicious and our waiter, Mason, was fantastic. He was so knowledgable in regard to one of our parties food intolerances, courteous and friendly. Will definitely be back when in Manchester.
Dined in here as part of group of 11 this past weekend. We were on the Sunday Menu and food was excellent. The bottles of Wine were also well chosen. Staff were super friendly and helpful. They put us on a great square table/booth which allowed us to talk to each other rather than on a long table where chatting is limited. There was no complaints among any of the party. Highly recommended.
Nice cozy brasseries on the Velvet Hotel. Ordered prawns and BBQ pork ribs for our starters. Prawns were good but the it could be seasoned more heavily; BBQ pork ribs were braised to tender, pretty great. For mains, we ordered fish & chips and coq au vin. The fish was crispy which means the batter was good, and the triple-fried chips were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, though again, more seasoning should be added. Coq au vin, unlike traditional one, this one was made with chicken breast only and glazed the sauce on top when served. The taste of the wine wasn’t very obvious which could improve a bit, the sauce was fine overall with some sautéed potatoes, mushrooms and onions mixed together. Staff was welcoming from start to finish, friendly and always having a great smile, added to the vibe of a brasserie, made it a fabulous atmosphere.
Very good food great ambience brilliant service
Lacked any atmosphere, downstairs with a random collection of music that didn’t suit the space. 00’s rap to 80’s ballads. Needed to be more a cosy restaurant playlist. Staff very attentive, food ok but nothing special.
4 of us came for Sunday lunch, the hostess wasn’t friendly when we were shown to table. Menu not explained, was a set menu £20 per person 2 people sharing. Includes wine. I’m sober so asked about other options, weren’t very helpful with this. Was like it was too much trouble. Lights kept going bright then dark, when asked what’s going on, staff again weren’t helpful. Food was ok. Nothing special for the money. Music so random spoiled the atmosphere. Service was slow, we didn’t end up having dessert because of this. Overall disappointing experience, haven’t been for years and won’t be returning for many more now. 4 of us left without anything positive to say. Hope you guys take this feedback on board.
No Atmosphere at all.in fact dead ....don't bother.coming here...
Staying near by for a business trip. A group of 11, we struggled to find anywhere that would fit, and were so pleased that Village Brasserie accommodated. Until we got there. The rudest staff I have ever encountered. The food was vile. The atmosphere non existent. DO NOT GO.
Went on a Saturday night but its closed! Google says for refurbishment but no-one has a refit during the busiest time of the year. They do it in January. velvet events still closed after zero hygiene score....Sad this used to be one of the best places to eat on canal st Replies are clearly AI
A friend booked a table 3 months ago, we entered a near empty restaurant to be challenged whether we had booked. Our waiter didn’t greet us, didn’t offer us drinks, just handed us menus. After feeling ignored we left. Never felt so unwelcome in a venue!
Unfortunately, I had a really disappointing experience here. When I told the staff about my allergies, I wasn’t offered an allergens menu or clear advice, which made ordering stressful. Some dishes were marked as vegan on the menu, but when I double-checked with the waiter (who asked the chef), I was told they were actually not vegan — very confusing and misleading. We ordered the Sunday roasts, but they were quite bad: the potatoes were dry, and the roasts were salty. For dessert, we had the cheesecake, which was warm and strange texture, and worst of all, the blueberries had white mould. Overall, very disappointed with both the service and the food.
Was out with my friend to have lunch. We are both nurses with young kids so rarely get out. Was interrupted half way through meal and was asked to pay. When I asked why she said it was restaurant policy. Was really offended, insulted and embarrassed. We ate our meal and left. Will never be back.
