It was my baby girl’s first birthday dinner and Celeste and Kat hooked us up! Even gave us some tortilla dough to play with! Best restaurant experience I’ve had in a long time!

The food was delicious, as always. The atmosphere was nice. The service was fantastic. Charlie, our server, was better than fantastic. Besides being a fantastic server, she was a great hostess. I am disabled and walk with a cane. She saw this and pointed out a table and asked if it was too far away before seating us. I can't tell you how many times I have gone into a restaurant and they make me walk to the very back of the place when there were numerous tables open closer to the door; completely oblivious to my needs. Charlie is the first one to pay attention to my situation.

Our family frequents this restaurant, it’s my son’s favorite. We always get good food and service. Tonight, we had Lamar as our server and he did great. Friendly and personable. He was hard working, he must have been doing 6 tables on his own, I heard they were short staffed. Our order was accurate. He was attentive - he refilled drinks, salsa and did it all with a smile. I'm going to continue to give this location 5 stars, even though the woman bartender seemed to be ignoring me every time I looked at her to get her attention and started talking she would look away or walk away like I wasn't even there. Sat with empty chips and salsa until the new bartender took over. He was very attentive, and was able to relieve some of the tension I felt. So for that reason I'll leave 5 stars he was very good at his job and almost made me forget about the poor service I was getting initially. The happy hour is why I go, I can eat and have a few drinks with out breaking the bank, it's quite good and they don't cut corners on the reduced prices items. For 15-20 bucks plus a tip i get nice and full on good hot food, and cold drinks.

I had the absolute WORST experience here last night! I called to check the hours. Online they said one thing, I got to the restaurant and they closed.... after they sat me at my table and I was ready to order. Now, for my trouble they gave me coupons for my next visit.🫩 Being a little under the weather, I came back for my Chicken Tortilla Soup....... and it was phenomenal! My food was piping hot, and Mr. D'Angelo made it all worth the trip back! He was polite, and I got this very smile every time he came to the table!! He checked on me often, brought whatever asked without complaining!! Yes ma'am, No ma'am, please and thank you to myself and all the tables around me!! I will definitely be back!! Waitress Crystal is the best! From making jokes to ensuring the best quality she can do it all. After my group was a little difficult with splitting bills she worked with us and even gave us stickers which brightened our day on this freezing afternoon. If I could write a review just on her it would be 200/10 she’s amazing and so sweet!

Sitting at the bar was the best idea ever! Will was incredible! He kept us laughing and entertained with his wittiness and personality, completely taking the edge off from our long and tedious drive. My specialty margarita with the orange liquor was really delicious! Compared to the regular margarita, mine just had that extra flavor amd kick. The food was served up hot and fast, and totally hit the spot. I will definitely return! Thank you!!!

We just finished eating here for the first time since Pappasitos took over- WOW! First of all, the chips are so much better and you have authentic Papa's salsa now! The queso seemed pretty much the same but with fresher ingredients. We ordered the ultimate fajitas and all of the meats were much better quality and flavor! The vegetables they were served with were amazing! Don't forget the divine butter sauce you get from a Papa's Restaurant!!! Yum! Margaritas and service were on point as always! We will definitely be back more often now.

Caitlin was an amazing waitress! Though I think the small Queso bowl doesn't give enough Queso, it was still good and the rest of the food was delicious as well. I had my birthday dinner here tonight after previous plans fell through. We showed up last minute with a large party and everyone from the hostesses to the servers were so kind and accommodating. I haven't been to OTB for years and thought had become a mid choice. I have been hearing about the changes since Pappasito's bought them out and wanted to see for myself. The very first bite said volumes. I can taste a huge improvement. Essentially what I got was a Pappasito's meal for an OTB price. I'll be returning.

I always enjoy a yummy (and great value!) lunch at On The Border when I'm in the DFW area visiting family. It's been one of our go-to spots for lunch & catching up for years now - I absolutely LOVE the value of the lunch combos you can order in the afternoon here and also getting one of the big margaritas from time to time. I've never had any issues with regards to anything on any of my multiple visits - from friendly and quick service, to tasty and hot Tex-Mex food, and a dining space that is always clean and very spacious. One of my favorite orders here is the lunch combo with an enchilada and fish taco - it also comes with rice and beans. Everything always HITS and I love the sauce on the enchilada and the big, juicy chunk of fish in the fish taco! YUM! This is a great location for On The Border that I always enjoy my visits to - I definitely recommend!

What an experience we have just had at the On The Border in Mansfield Texas! My wife and I ate here this Saturday evening and it was incredible. The fajitas, chips and salsa were great but it was our waiter who made the trip so exceptional! Caleb took fantastic care of us and made sure we felt like welcomed guests. He was attentive and courteous and made sure we had everything we needed. It is not very often that we see this kind of dedicated service. We will definitely be coming here again and asking for Caleb!

I treated myself to dinner today & received excellent service from Bartenders Taylor & Gabby! The food was excellent (I highly recommend the beef enchiladas, and the queso/guac combo), service was expedient, it wasn’t crowded so I was able to enjoy my meal peacefully. I came in between 4-6p on a Friday, so I was able to catch the Happy Hour & half priced appetizers (applies to bar/patio only, started to pick up around 5ish). Gabby was especially great, she served with a smile & made sure that I was well taken care of. I highly recommend this location. Thank You both!! I will definitely be back!

Haven't really ever been impressed with On The Border, and this one didn't change my mind. Food is not bad, but it's not memorable either. If you're hungry for tex-mex, it'll do. If you like On The Border, I think this one is typical. I just think there are ones with much tastier food. The server we had was definitely not proactive. Never came to ask how things were going (the restaurant was not busy). Had to flag her down to ask her to refill the drinks every time, and she would only refill the drink of the person who asked. Then she'd disappear, so everyone else had to wait until she came back around.

Been to this chain numerous times and just about every time we've gone the food, service, and drinks were great. The last time we went we unfortunately didn't have the best experience. The food wasn't of their normal quality and the service was bad. While it wasn't the best experience we've had more positive experiences and will definitely go back in the future.

Just wanted to take a minute to share the Great service me and my family received from our server Hector. He was so friendly and attentive to our needs. Made recommendations on the menu and we were completely satisfied with our meals. He made sure we were ALL taken care of the whole time we were there. We live in SW Ft. Worth but would definitely make the drive back and ask for this server again and tell friends and family about this location. On the Border this young man needs a Kudos or Recognition for sure. Crystal was the light of my day! She was so warm and cheerful. Great asset to your company!! She came by frequently and offered assistance promptly. The hostess, on the other hand, could barely get off of her phone screen to seat us, was apparently unable to smile, and tried to seat us next to the door on a freezing cold day when the restaurant wasn’t even half full.

New owners beef fajita meat was tough, and not chewable quality poor

So after being a life long fan of OTB (pretty much more Friday lunches than not) I gave them a wide birth from their latest ownership change. Today I decided to give the new updated experience a chance and I have to say 🤮. I have always ordered the lunch steak fajitas with refried beans and rice. The fajita meat was top notch, yet they were lacking big time on seasoning. Their new style of salsa which is complementary tastes like someone is cleaning out the bottom of a pan and poured liquid smoke in it. I will say that unless I hear of them going back to their old ways I will never step foot in an On The Boarder again.

What the heck OTB?!! WHO in their right mind serves a patron a literal spoonful of rice WITH a queso bowl smashed into it - in the tiny part of togo box?!! Honestly it doesnt even look like (way LESS!) a whole normal adult mouthful of rice to eat all that grilled chicken & queso with!??! *****Hector was a pleasant and very helpful gentleman. The food was tasty and our server was kind and personable at the start of the meal. My wife ordered the Sunrise cocktail, but it was a bit too syrupy and she didn’t finish it. It would’ve been a nice touch if the waiter had noticed and offered a replacement or asked about it, but I understand that’s going above and beyond. The restaurant was surprisingly quiet for a Saturday night, and I noticed several staff members sitting around chatting while the dining room was mostly empty. Toward the end of our meal, service dropped off—we waited quite a while to get our check, even though it wasn’t busy. Overall, a decent experience, but it felt like the team was a little checked out.

Javier was our server and I'd like to start out by saying he was an excellent server. He was attentive without being annoying. The hostess was very nice and greeted us with a smile. The chips and salsa was good but the guacamole had very little flavor and was turning gray. My chicken fajitas were lacking in flavor and spice also. It was a chicken breast that had been grilled whole and then sliced and laid over some grilled onions. I was disappointed with the chicken but the rice and beans were good. Husband said his margarita was really good for 6$. We love Pappasito's but this is not a Bolder, better On the Border.

However, if you’re simply hungry and need a quick meal, it could suffice. That said, the prices felt high for food that was just average in taste. Overall, it’s not a bad option, but it’s not one I’d go out of my way to recommend.

The wait to be seated was long even after calling it in. After we put in our order, we were informed that they were out of rice. When we finally get our food after a very long wait, the beans were sent in a small bowl for family style. We were told the rice would be out in five minutes. We finished our food and still no rice.

Back to the food. I was so disappointed in my half full stale taco shell that barely had any meat in it that I was just ready to go. Leaving would be nice if we could. Our server has helped their other tables around us but can’t seem to find their way back to our table and really we just want to leave. Is this a hostage situation ?! Are we being kidnapped?! We just want to pay and go home. If you’re in a hurry just go to the grocery store, get all the items you need and cook it yourself. I somehow feel like it would be faster than coming here for 4 tacos and some margaritas. The quality has been slowly dropping and my last few visits here I’ve left saying I won’t be back. This is just a heads up. If you order the brownie sundae to go, it's not going to be as good or what is advertised. There's no fudge, just plain vanilla ice cream. The brownie is cold and dry. Definitely not worth the money. When I ordered inside it was good, but definitely will never order to go again!

Every time they have given me Mexican rice instead of the cilantro lime rice (vegetarian) that is supposed to come with the meals. This last time I checked and pickup and they reassured me it was. A party of 3 went in to dine. It was not busy. We waited several minutes watching a couple servers hanging out, no one acknowledged us. When we asked a couple of servers if they had our table, they didn’t know. One young waiter was struggling with no hope from the others standing around. We decided to leave. As we were leaving, we told the host and she said ok. Clearly didn’t care. This was very disappointing as we were looking forward to the food here.

The food and the service are both excellent! Friendly and fun place, with delicious food. Rating 1 star instead of 5 for the scolding hot water in the bathroom. On the cold setting, if anyone in either restroom flushes, you will get burned. See photo of steam coming out, this is insane.

It’s been a long time since I’ve had service so poor. Ordered table side guacamole and 20 minutes later, when we finally received our Pepsi and glass of water, the waiter decided to bring the ingredients out. At no point did he apologize for the delay. I instructed him to take it away, which he did and immediately returned with our meals. He never checked on the accuracy of the order and wouldn’t refill our drinks. It took another 10 minutes to receive our bill after being told by the waiter that it was clear we didn’t need a to go box, which would have been appropriate, if the meal was correct and was worth taking home. With the number of restaurant choices in the dfw area, you would think companies would go above and beyond to earn your business and loyalty but it’s clear there are those who don’t get it and don’t care. Needless to say I will never return to this establishment.

Horrible experience. Walked in the host was clearly flustered, sat us then moved us twice after that. Our server was very short with us but not his other tables. He’d walk past us and not check in but constantly check in with the surrounding tables. Didn’t help with suggestions as far as the menu considering this was my first time eating here. Left my food on a vacant table to go chit chat with other tables so by the time I received it it was cold. Overall horrible service and I would not come back.

We have been going to OTB forever. Had dinner here on Veteran's Day to enjoy the OTB free meal for Vets (thank you). Tipped $7 (about 20%) based on what meal, etc. would have cost. When Credit Card charge came though, the tip amount was increased to $11.35 (the actual bill amount was doubled). Disputed charge with Credit Card and overcharge was credited back. But I am very upset that someone at this restaurant would even do this. Check your Credit Card charges after eating at this location. I did reach out to OTB through their feedback system. We'll see if they truly try to address this issue. Update: Their feedback system reply was thanks for the positive review. You've got to be kidding me. Obviously, OTB doesn't really care about feedback. Time to file a police report.

Food always cold not even warm !! Servicer aren't friendly at all. Sunday March 30th we Went to eat .I had to go to the lady's room. To the left at the door way .I just turned my Head .. Food all over the floor it was nasty. I had already had tried eating it was nastytasting. If I had seen that before we eat We would walked out and not ate there. Now it’s a little late but hey they are open until 11pm so we didn’t think it would be that big of an issue that we wanted to grab a bite and you know a restaurant where that’s what you do. Full disclosure we were a group of 9 but the restaurant was relatively empty so again didn’t think much of it. Originally we were told a wait time which was totally fine and after that is when things started to go south. As mentioned the place was pretty empty so we were patiently waiting hoping it wouldn’t take too long but that’s when we noticed hosts, servers and even managers all looking at us and having hushed conversations about our group. Someone in our party asked if it would be easier they could just push two tables together which we were was against policy which I do understand. Then a few minutes later and more hushed conversations between employees while clearly talking about our group kept occurring. At this point we’re uncomfortable from the obvious tension in the room. So again someone asked from our party if it would be easier to seat us at two different tables and simply not push them together and we’d be okay with that. Again we were told no and then at this point the story changed about our wait and we were now being told they couldn’t guarantee they’d even be able to seat us. I find it hard to believe at 9pm on a Friday you only have one table you can seat people at. And again the restaurant was basically empty and there were maybe 4 or 5 employees just standing around up at the front. However at this point the whole group made a decision to take our money and business elsewhere as we’d have an extremely uncomfortable experience. We all agreed that it felt very obvious that on the border simply did not want to serve us for who knows what reason and honestly I don’t plan to be back anytime soon if ever again.

We waited so long for the food, finally fajitas came. They have special vegetarian and vegan menu as well. With sizzling fajitas no tortillas was served, we waited quite bit thinking that some one will serve. Finally when every thing was getting cold like almost 15 mins passed, I got up to find if fajitas are suppose to have tortillas. They were very casual and said that we will get them. I had ordered flour tortillas, they served corn tortilla. We had gone as family for my bday and guess it was a real happy one for me.

As MUCH as I LOVE On The Border (OTB), I do NOT love nor will I tolerate someone not wanting to be at work and openly showing it. The waitress approached the table where my spouse, son, and I were sitting and had such a nasty attitude she didn’t even speak-she only asked what we wanted to drink. As I ordered cranberry juice for my toddler son, she immediately told me that she KNEW they had orange and apple but not cranberry. With the kid’s menu in my hand, I pointed to the listed cranberry juice and said, “the menu says you do.” Her response was “oh, I’ll check and confirm.” I asked the hostesses for another server immediately. The waitress delivered our drinks and said, “oh I heard you want a new server, she’ll be right over.” After she took our drink order, I watched her go to another table in the corner and celebrate something; once the hostess told her we wanted another server and her head snapped looking in my direction. When the new server came I apologized and told her we wouldn’t be staying, we tried paying for our drinks and allowed us to have it on the house. On the way out the door, the hostess apologized and I told her it wasn’t her fault. I’ve eaten here before and I know this isn’t the reputation this establishment has.

Was our favorite place, but they changed the salsa and menu. They don't have the brisket tacos anymore, which were our favorite. Original salsa was also better than what they serve now.

I ordered beef and queso enchiladas to go. I got home (apx. 10 min away) and discovered whatever this is. It looks disgusting. A total waste of my money. Shame on your establishment for letting this leave your kitchen.

Stripped the menu. Smaller portions. Food no longer made from scratch . Nasty and soggy. Took away ranchillas. Stay away!!!! go across the highway to Cha Cha. Way better food there

Last night we were served lukewarm queso, refried beans and rice. The only thing that was good was the chicken and beef on the fajitas. My daughter and I got a severe case of food poisoning after eating the lower that mediocre food. Not sure what's going on there but the quality has really gone down. I normally would not have posted, but I felt like after the food poisoning. We needed to do a review. Our server was courteous but someone needs to watch the kitchen.

Service was excellent however the GM came to our table at my request with an attitude . After frequenting this place for several years after dinning at Uncle Julios since the late 80's I feel sad that I won't be returning after I return one last time to thank the friendly staff and say good bye. I will be returning to Uncle Julios as the result of a GM that lacked people skills. In addition I do not believe he placed any credence on how many competitors were in the area such as Cha Chas . Los Molcajetes Mexican Inn Jalisco's El Arroyo and many more

This restaurant has really gone downhill. Everything about the food has changed including much higher prices. Less food, they charge for any alteration to the menu. They seam to love cilantro, guacamole, and no onions on your fajitas. The meal came with mostly squash (yuck) as a vegetable. Refried beans also are not included on your fajitas. Salsa is the worst so even the chips are no longer an option to fill up on.

We have LOVED OTB for a while but it seems like they are trying to cut cost which in turn has made the food abysmal. The salsa is garbage and the chips taste worse than what you could simply buy at the store. Queso is not great as well. I ordered the southwest chicken tacos which I have been ordering for easily a decade now and I truly could not finish it. Everything tastes microwaved and nasty. Change your recipes back or I will never walk through those doors again. Have also been warning everyone : ) I will sooner buy food from Taco Bell then eat the gnarly crap they have decided to serve us here.

This all started out with our waiter, and his inability to multitask. After lunch I paid the bill and was just a little annoyed but then both my wife and her father said the food was awful and tasted like someone poured a bottle of salt in it. I tasted hers and she wasn’t lying, I like salt and it was overbearing for me. We called the manager over and because I’m a very loud person, my wife did the talking. The manger just said she would talk to the cook. Great lady!! Thanks for the food flavored salt.

Im just wondering why change something that works? Change the fajitas, change the chicken enchiladas, but do not mess with the salsa and queso. Pappasito’s your food is amazing but honestly no one likes your salsa. So changing on the border to mimic yours is a no! 😡

I always loved there southwest chicken tacos, but the last time I went there they were completely changed. The change they did made the tacos taste gross, the Mexican rice tasted gross as well.i wish they had kept there old food, even the chips and salsa tasted wrong. The chips were stale and the salsa looked like poop, along with not having any heat to it. They should put back in their old menu.

Complete waste of money. Called in a phone order for SW chicken tacos and double mexican rice. Pick up the food and the lady doing to go orders was amazing. Reason for the 1 star is the salsa, tacos and the rice were all COMPLETELY DIFFERENT than what I have had from On The Border. Salsa was dark brown and disgusting, Tacos had cooked slimy onions and pico (which I don't eat either) and the mexican rice had tomatoes in it. I call back to talk about my order lady tells me "well if you haven't eaten here in the last few months, we changed our menu." then I was placed on hold for 10+ minutes so I hung up. I have ordered the exact same thing for 30 years, how would I know that then menu has changed unless someone told me prior to ordering. Complete waste of $22. Will NEVER eat at ON THE BORDER again!!!!

When did OTB change their salsa? The new “salsa” is horrible! You think that if they were gonna make such a drastic change that they would at least still serve the “original” salsa also for the people that don’t like the new stuff. ALSO, They need to fire the entire kitchen staff and hire people that can read! Ask for NO rice they give you double, want medium rare steak, they overcook it, get cheese enchiladas when you order beef. This location has slowly been going down hill for a while now which is sad because we used to frequent this location once a week….Not anymore! I will never take my family back here again So sad Just close the doors! The food is horrible since new ownership has taken over which is sad. Why would you change or remove staple items from a menu? **UPDATE** They took the “Ranchiladas” off the menu also….bad enough they stopped putting the red sauce on the steak a long time ago, NOW they have just completely removed it from the menu, Just like the guacamole live is gone! Bring back the original salsa and all of the original items from the menu that y’all have removed…lower your prices back to what they were and serve good food! Is that too much to ask?

Wait time to get a waitress take our order was ridiculous. Then we waited an extremely long time to get our food. People who there way after we did were getting their food while we just sat and waited. Then our order was screwed up. Waitress asked if I wanted it redone I said no cause of the wait time and we had things to do and obviously we were late. Definitely not going back to this place

LONG TIME CUSTOMERS, READ THIS BEFORE GOING!! The service was incredible, this isn't about that. This is about the food under the new Pappa's acquisition being REVOLTING. Every one of my 3 family members gagged more than once while eating or thinking about their food here, and so did I. The first disappointment was the Guacamole Live. THEY TOOK IT OFF THE MENU! It was not only the best part of going to OTB, but the best guacamole in the restaraunt game. We still bought the new guac, which was NINE DOLLARS for HALF the portion. Worse, it had absolutely no fixins, not even onions, and was too salty with the new oversalted chips. The new salsa is completely unremarkable and not worth leaving the house for. It's not inedible, but it's not what I want salsa to be. Whatever, I thought, it's just the appetizer; surely the food will make up for it. The chicken was instantly a concern. They used to have the best chicken fajitas I'd had at any restaraunt, incredible seasoning and texture. Now, it looks completely white and unseasoned like boiled chicken. How could sizzling grilled fajitas end up looking like they'd never touched a grill? The taste was even blander than I'd expected. The texture was even worse. It came apart like gelatin, and had rubbery fatty bits and a generally gelatinous consistency that felt nothing like meat. It was unbearable, and there was no flavor to make up for it. You can see the bland color and the odd way the chicken moves and pulls apart in the video and picture attached. I promise it's not tender - it does not have the consistency that tender meat should have at all, nor the taste. I did not try the steak, but my mom gagged when she bit into the steak nachos. 3/4 of us are a clean plate family, and I usually eat everything I have, appetizers, and get leftovers off of other people's plates. I have NEVER, in sickness or in health, eaten only half of my meal, nor have I ever seen my mother or partner turn down an ENTIRE plate of food. All of us ended up sad that our family's favorite restaraunt, that we'd been going to together for what is nearly a DECADE now, has been ruined. And we didn't even get a decent meal from it. Again, service and management was phenomenal and everybody was very kind to us and listened to our feedback, this is not a criticism of them at all - but even so, I cannot reccomend anybody ever eat here again, especially not if they have been a customer in the past.

New management has genuinely ruined the food, first they got rid of guacamole live which i was mildly disappointed about, then the guacamole we got was barely seasoned, no cilantro, no tomatoes, no onions, and was overly salty. Next all of us got chicken meals, I got fajitas and they were completely unseasoned and their texture was jelly like, my fajitas tasted like boiled chicken and had the texture of jello... Completely unseasoned disgusting chicken i genuinely gagged while eating it, and I remember the chicken fajitas used to be great! And what sucks is I'm allergic to beef so my only option is chicken. I'm extremely disappointed how can you mess up fajitas... The worst part is it wasn't just my food it was every single meal that had this gelatinous chicken. This restaurant used to be my family's go to place to go for celebrations and just to spend time together. Now we legit will not come back i don't understand how you can mess up such a good restaurant. Just so you know the service is great though! The workers are amazing it's just the food that was not enjoyable.

Wish I could rate the food but we didn't get to taste it. We were greeted and seated promptly at 7. For a Friday evening it wasn't busy. Ordered quickly, D'Angelo was awesome! However we waited 45 minutes and still did not get our food, just enchiladas. We Paid for drinks and queso then left. It shouldn't take over an hour to get enchiladas. We were very disappointed as we had high hopes for this place.

Went to OTB today and was unaware of changes to menu. Can only order bowl of queso .. The chicken enchiladas were not edible. The sauce tasted like flour. The chicken in chicken tacos was unseasoned and seemed boiled but the cooks really seemed to like the "garlic aoli" that was overly used and just led to dish leaving lasting disgusting flavor. We will never come back with all the other options out there for far better food. Wait staff never asked if food was even edible or ok after seeing plates full and pushed aside out of disgust.
