The mixed molcajete at Callejón de los Milagros in McAllen was absolutely delicious! Full of authentic flavors and perfectly balanced. The corn tortillas were super fresh and handmade — the perfect match for the dish. The service was outstanding, with staff being kind and attentive the whole time. This place is a must-visit if you’re looking to enjoy amazing Mexican food in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended!
If you never been to McAllen Texas...and you haven't visited this great eatery..you must put it in your bucket list... Every single time i have been to anybof their locations..IT NEVER dissapoints...always fresh made to order great great authentic food and alcoholic conjectures..and the staff fast and friendly as you can ask for...prices are very very fair in comparison to what u would expect to pay at Papasitos chain in San Antonio Texas...but this place having waaaaay better food authentic wise.... Been here at least 15 times...i rotate my restaurant eatery scenery... See u here one day.. Mike
We were craving some delicious Mexican cuisine and decided to try this restaurant based on a recommendation from the hotel concierge. We were not disappointed! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a vibrant and inviting atmosphere. Our waiter promptly brought us menus along with three types of salsa and some thick, crispy homemade chips—such a nice touch! My husband ordered a lemonade, which was decent, but I felt it didn’t quite justify the $4.99 price tag—just a minor complaint. Now, onto the food—it was fantastic! The beef fajitas were incredibly tender and bursting with flavor. The large potatoes topped with cheese were rich and creamy; I’ve never tasted anything quite like it. The charro beans were superb, packed with bacon, sausage, and cilantro, giving them an amazing depth of flavor. I opted for the chicken tacos and asked for them to be topped with quesadilla cheese, which was simply divine. The homemade corn tortillas added an authentic Mexican touch that truly enhanced the dish. Overall, it was a delightful dining experience!
You gotta love a restaurant with colorful murals! It is fun to read all the "dichos y refranes" while you wait for your food. We went on a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty busy. We started with 'Queso Fundido con Chorizo' (melted white cheese) as an appetizer. It really was delicious and the highlight of our lunch. The flour tortillas were good. The 'Parrillada Milagrosa' dish (for 2 people) was a treat. It is a combination of beef and chicken fajitas with grilled cactus, sausage, onions, cheese, and avocado served with quesadillas, rice, and charro beans. I loved the charro beans! Unfortunately, they don't have a good cocktail menu. I tried the Margarita with a Corona beer on it. In order for the beer to not tip over, you need to order it as a frozen Margarita (which I'm not a fan of to begin with). I chose the lemon-flavored Margarita from the relatively large selection of flavors. It was tasteless. I don't recommend it.
Restaurant has noticeable declined in last year. My dinner ( Ribeye specialty dish ) was excellent and flavorful. My wife's dinner ( Ribeye steak ) was average at best and overcooked. While I understand food prices have increased significantly, and Enchilada with Bisec is now $40! The tablecloths are gone as are the cloth napkins, lessening the experience. There were far less evening diners this time, usually a sign of a restaurant struggling. Unfortunately, we had friends diners with us for their first time and they weren't impressed. Overall, a "C" experience when it had been a "A" in the past. I hope they improve as they can have great Mexican food.
Food took way too long for the end result. My enchiladas were room temp, and the chicken filling was the size of a nugget. They didn’t even shred it. Taco palenque would have been the better option.
This is the place that introduced me to Pulpo! It was a succulent, whole grilled 🐙, bursting with flavor. However, this time I ordered just the carnitas del pulpo, and it was over-cooked and tough. The waitress was super sweet, but service was extremely slow both times I've dined here. Not a plcae to go when you're in for a quick bite! With many open tables, the hostess didn't even acknowledge me when I entered, and took time to finish her cell phone activity before considering to seat me. Interior decor is aesthetically appeasing, with some cute Spanish quotes painted on the walls. There is outdoor seating available, and it's conveniently located in a strip with many other restaurants, and walking distance from hotels. I will try this place one more time, and perhaps update my review.
I have eaten here several times, but this last time I was impressed with the high prices they have in their menu. For example, a queso panela (appetizer) for about 25 dls., or the elotes for 20+ dls…. Si,.. elotes… food tastes ok, but not amazing. I won’t be coming back anytime soon.
Food was overcooked, bread burnt , cheese over veggies tasted like it came out of a can. Not a lot of elbow room, The long sea/ bench cushion is filthy covered in stains 🤢. I was scared to sit on it. you’d think such a nice would steam clean and disinfect that it was so dingy 🤮 They took my boyfriends card for payment and automatically tipped themselves 😡, it was not all that 1st and last time going there
I am completely disappointed and angry with the management of this place. The waiters' service was excellent, but the prices and the tip are outrageous. I am very disgusted. 100% not recommend going to this place; visit it and see for yourself.over $110 spend in 2 plates 2 beers an margarita+ $20 tip without asking you just added have to pay for it first and last time on that place
I went on my bday this past Saturday and it was the worst birthday dinner I’ve had, the server was arguing with me, the music was good but if u don’t have a big crowd with u they don’t even acknowledge ur bday, the fajita is very low quality, it was not worth the prize, my party and I just ate and left, never again!!
Paid $71 for 2 parrilladas for 4 people... I’m not sure whether to laugh or be angry... 2 flour tortillas and 3 honestly sub par corn tortillas. Fajita was very good, everything else looks to have been done in a hurry. Drove 8.5 hours from Dallas, to the valley to have Mexican food with my parents. Called for 15min to try and get this resolved but it looks like the phones been left off the hook. Big let down. Go elsewhere. Update 2/11/20 Parents ordered a parrillada for 3, got what you’d get elsewhere for 2 people. At least this time they gave us enough tortillas for 3 people. Can’t complain about the food quality, it’s good.
