Stopped in for breakfast at Cracker Barrel but this review is not about the food.. it’s about our check out experience. After months of searching, my husband finally spotted Big Red soda in the glass bottles for sale…something he’s been craving for a while. Unfortunately, by the time we were ready to check out, they were all gone. We mentioned it to Diego at the register, and without hesitation, he went to the back to check for more. He came back with a few bottles, and my husband was thrilled. It may seem like a small thing, but it meant a lot to us. Thank you, Diego, for going the extra mile…simple indulgences like this make all the difference! P.S. they have the funnest fighting Turkey pens right now 🦃 🥊

The food was great with fast service and an amazing waiter. The biscuits and cornbread were fresh and absolutely delicious. Our server was attentive and kept checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. What makes this place even more unique is that it’s not just a restaurant—you can also shop for souvenirs, clothes, candy, toys, and more. Overall, a fantastic experience. Highly recommend!

Whenever I visit a city that has Cracker Barrel I visit one. Great food, service was a bit slow.

Who hasn't heard of cracker barrel? As far I know they're all over the country. The strange thing about these restaurants is the retail store that is right inside their door. You're faced with clothing, auto accessories knick knacks hats. A couple thousand square foot of products that have nothing to do with food. I don't find that appetizing in the slightest. Actually, it's rather an annoyance. And then there is the help. We had the most energetic and cutest waitress I think I've seen in a while. I'm not sexist and I'm not going to say she was sexy I'm just going to say she was very appealing and helpful and her service was second to none. The food; I had a salad and I think any restaurant would be hard pressed to mess that up and they did not. It was very attractive and presented in a positive manner. See waitress above.

This place is very well known , and so so good for any meal...🥔🥕🌽 Just be ready for a small wait time. IT'S SO WORTH IT...

Yesterday, I took my kids for the first time to dine in for breakfast. There was a wait in the line. While we waited we thought we glance at the merchandise sitting in the store. I uploaded a few pictures of items for those who need to gift a wedding item. There are cute birthday cards which you will find in the pictures I provided. There are excellent gift items for any occasion birthdays, Christmas or a simply a thank you for a special someone. My kids liked the kids section they have toys. You got to go see for yourselves. Once your table is ready your last name will be called on the intercom. While we waited at our table the waiter brought us hot chocolate which was just perfect for the weather. Hmmm. My kids ordered the momma's pancake and momma's toast with bacon and scrambled eggs for their breakfast. We ordered an extra cup of hot chocolate, a glass of milk and a glass of orange juice. I ordered the momma's blueberry pancakes with scrambled eggs. I told the waiter I am not eating meat he recommend a sausage patty which does not have pork or any meat substance. I do recommend this restaurant. We paid a round estimate of $59.00 for us three to dine in. Aside of the amount we paid we tipped the waiter. Our waiter provided us with great costumer service. Thank you, so much Cracker Barrel for the experience. Head out there to Cracker Barrel for those who have never been there it's in the corner of Ware Road in McAllen, Texas.

Wow! Fried turkey was delicious. Everything tasted as if made just as I ordered it. Fried okra, green bean casserole, and even the cranberry sauce...nothing more to say about the food. The location was clean and the wait staff was attentive and courteous. Even the country store had many nice items. Gotta go back and have the fried turkey before it is taken off the menu...

We spent some time in the store an Angel named Maricela was EXTREMELY helpful. She noticed what i was wearing and recommended a couple of dresses I loved. She also help me with Holloween items. I loved my witch broom that walks around on its own around the house and gave me some tips on how to maintain it at its best. I love encountering people who have a beautiful Spirit. A Gem of a Shop! I recently had the pleasure of visiting this wonderful establishment, and I left feeling absolutely delighted. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with excellent customer service. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to enjoy helping customers. They were knowledgeable about their products and offered assistance without being intrusive – a perfect balance. Beyond the stellar service, the atmosphere was truly friendly and cozy. The shop had a warm and inviting feel, making it a comfortable place to browse and linger. It wasn't rushed or overwhelming, which made the entire shopping experience so much more enjoyable. What truly sets this shop apart, however, is the shopping options and the unique inventory. Cracker barrel is always a delicious and a great place to visit. No line when we arrived and service was fast enough. It's not fast food but they make the food at the moment. You can order and go to the store while you get your food ready. The menu is really country food that your mom makes. Portions are the right size and the menu has new stuff to try every time.

You can enjoy traditional American food done right here. The pancakes are absolutely delicious—fluffy, soft, and full of flavor. Always enjoy CB, especially since we don't have a franchise in our home area. This time I chose the Sampler with two entrees. Huge portions. Usually I think of samplers as smaller portions so you can taste a variety. These must have been full portions. Great leftovers the next day.

One of the only places I will get breakfast from. I am not a big breakfast person, but their strawberry cheesecake pancakes are absolutely amazing. And their hash brown casserole? Even better. My only complaint is that sometimes the service is slow but this location is almost always filled when we visit. Which explains the wait, but that's what happens when the food is worth it. The prices are also great, not overly pricey and you get a good size portion for what you pay. They also have a gift shop to browse while waiting for a seat or just leaving with a little something for home or your child.

Today we got a stack of 3 pancakes,3 piecesof bacon, two large pieces of chicken fried chicken with 3 sides, mashed potatoes, green beans, and loaded hash browns casserole, and 2 drinks And 2 take home meals for about $40.00 + . All that was shared amongst 2 adults and 1 child and we still had left overs. Shout out to our server Carlos who went above and BEYOND with his kindness, speed, and upbeat energy.

Another great stop at Cracker Barrel. The Thursday Turkey and Dressing Dinner was delicious. It could have been a little hotter but I still gobbled up every bite. The chicken tenders were great. They were out of chipotle honey sauce. The other two sauces did the trick . We had a nice browse around the gift shop and got some clearance Giardelli chocolate for 70 percent off. That was a bonus.

Update: 9/6/24 My dad wanted fish so we came here. Still very clean, food still great and the service was exceptional. We had Abby as our waitress and she was very helpful and always attended us. She also answered some questions we had. Idk how long she has been there but she was very good. Next time I come I'll make sure to ask for her. Update: 4/19/24 Went in to get meatloaf, and let me tell you I was very good. I got the Samper, which came with the chicken and meatloaf and 2 sides that got mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese it was delicious. They all were the sides and everything Update: 02/02/24 Took a phone order and this person who took my order was very nice, polite and respectful. She even waited while I look for the name of a certain dish. Her name is Alex. Anyway no pictures this time but our two go order was pretty good. No complaints. Update:10/20/23 Food was great service was better place was very clean and I like the small shop they have chicken fried chicken is what I ordered. Food was really good, service could have been better but it was ok.

The place lovely inside, really wonderful decorations everywhere you look. I love feel of this place from the moment you walk outside to the moment you get inside. The sampler food was very tasty, really good portions of food for just 8.99, my eggs were cooked perfectly over medium, my ham and bacon were good, the sausage here had a taste i didn't quite like. The coffee was hot and flavorful. My new favorite is Bacon n’ Egg Hashbrown Casserole, I would definitely recommend this one, very filling and delicious. The staff was friendly and courteous. Overall an amazing place to bring your family and have breakfast, i wish they made home made salsa, i would come here more often if they did.

Extremely busy! Very chaotic experience, especially waiting for a table to become available. This was my first visit to the Cracker Barrel in McAllen. My colleagues and I arrived just after noon and the restaurant was already packed. For a party of three our wait time for a table was 30 - 40 minutes. Once seated the service was excellent and our lunch delicious. Ben, our server, provided excellent table service. My colleagues and I enjoyed the menu selections we ordered. I ordered my favorite veggie plate; Mac & cheese, hashbrown casserole, fried okra and turnip greens. All of my veggies were served hot and fresh. My colleagues enjoyed a fried shrimp platter and a catfish dinner. Unfortunately for myself, we were seated at a table directly in the middle of the dining room, which I greatly dislike. Normally, I request a table against a wall or window. Due to the extreme wait time, I didn't make a request and, naturally, was assigned my unfavorable table location. Although I really enjoy browsing the country store area of Cracker Barrel, the crowded conditions made it nearly impossible to shop and browse. I'm unsure if this Cracker Barrel location is always this crowded or if this was a special circumstance. Regardless, my colleagues and I give this Cracker Barrel location a high recommendations for food quality and customer service. However, the large, noisy crowd in a confined space made for a rather unpleasant dining atmosphere.

OMG! This place is so good, and I often forget about it. It's across town for me, but it's so worth the drive. If you are going on the weekend, get there early because they fill up fast. Both the service and the food are TOP NOTCH! I don't usually enjoy hash browns, but their cheesy hashbrowns are amazing and make a great base to add your breakfast on top of. First off our waitress Abigail L, was awesome! She explained plates in detail and was patient! Thank you Abby ❤️ Management, please consider changing your text message to customers regarding information to your customers about the table readiness! Me reading a message stating I will be seated in 30 mins and then another message one minute later stating my table is getting prepared , gave me the understanding that it’s not quite ready. Food is mid, quite honestly. Still deciding which side of theirs is my go to. So far, I've liked their baby carrots and the gravy was pretty good. You do get good portion sizes, I'll admit. I liked this item(?) that was a sample platter that had steak bits (not sure what they were called), grilled chicken, and shrimp but I didn't see it last time so I chose a country fried steak that was pretty good. One of my fam members likes their breakfast items and their pancakes and bacon were pretty good. Others in my family really like the fries and the dumplings. The biscuits they give are really good; we don't eat the corn bread as it's always very dry. The shop is fun with lots of cute things though you'd do better buying the toys and other licenses merch somewhere else as the prices are a tad excessive in my opinion. I have a very picky eater and this is one of those places that they're alwaysaune excited to go so there's that. Serve and staff have always been friendly though some do better than others. Bathrooms have been clean in my experience and that's always nice. Oh yeah, it got an interior update though I kinda miss the older one. Still, it's nice.

We had the ribs and the homestyle fried chicken for dinner. The ribs were tasty but the fried chicken was a bit overcooked. Looked way too dark instead of golden colored. Overall it was still decent, but probably won't order their chicken again. The service was fantastic, our waiter was excellent and friendly. .

Although my server wasn't very attentive and kept forgetting to check on the table when we needed drink refills and we were sat without any plates, so when they finally brought out the bread, I had to eat it on a napkin. Went for dinner. I needed some comfort food and knew where to go. Ordered turkey with dressing and masked potatoes. The turkey had a savory gravy that was delicious. Buttery mashed potatoes with a brown gravy that was equally good. My wife opted for mashed sweet potato and casserole hash brown. All served by the nicest server-Tiare. It was a very satisfying meal. Food is ok, I guess I was expecting more flavor on the eggs, I wonder if they use powder and not real eggs. Service in the other hand, is top-notch attentive all the time. So we had breakfast again in this place, my wife really liked from last time we had the I believe the grandpa plate which is served on a deep caserol 2 eggs, hassbrown I had the one with meat, onions and my wife the one with bacon. I have eaten here for years; great food and service. Today ( 3/30/25) between 2-4 pm is the first time where service and food were lacking. For example, the glasses were not clean and had a foul smell. I ordered several glasses of water and a ice tea, and could noticed a dirty water smell in each of the glasses. The pancakes tasted like they were cooked on a grill containing onions. We weren't offered biscuits and didn't get napkins until a little after our food arrived. It was a bit hard to contact our waiter. Overall, it seemed like an off day, but it wont stop me from coming back again. 🙏🏼

We are fans of Cracker Barrel but...today you fell quite short of what we expect when we choose to visit. The server was very good and attentive but... the food was not. There were no corn muffins to be had and were told it would be a 40 minute wait before ready. Pass, didn't want biscuits. Hubby's pinto beans were flavorless, dry and not very warm. My chicken tenders were dry, tough and appeared to have been left over from lunch rush and put under a heat lamp, not very warm. The hashbrown casserole was dry, cool and was probably under the same heat lamp as the chicken tenders. We were just very disappointed in our meal today. Hope this doesn't become the norm.

They forgot my food on a large order for work and I could not go back to pick it up. They only "refunded" that one meal. To make it right I feel they could have done more. I recommend checking your order on take out orders.

The coffee was very weak, The pancakes were dense and not very tasty. However, the service was the best and the atmosphere was great. It doesn't make up for weak coffee and heavy pancakes. I did enjoy having great service.

I wanted to share our recent experience at CB during our office’s annual Thanksgiving Luncheon. We were put on the waitlist, which was about a 40-minute wait, but once we arrived, we had to wait an additional 20 minutes. After being seated, we waited another 10 to 15 minutes before the server even approached our table. When the server finally arrived, we were ready to place our drink and food orders, so we can head back to the office asap! The food itself took another 20 to 30 minutes to arrive, and when it did, it was cold. The fried turkey had a rubbery texture, and the broccoli cheese casserole was the worst of the sides. I’ve attached a picture of it, and it looked nothing like what was shown on the menu. When we called the manager over, he explained that this is how it is served, but we disagreed, pointing out that it didn’t resemble the menu image at all. We asked if we could replace it with something else, and while he agreed, he didn’t seem too happy about it. In the end, everyone took their food home, but I’m sure most of it ended up being thrown away. We were really disappointed with both the service and the quality of the meal.

It's okay. Not great. Not bad. Servers were nice. Paying via QR code was something I never had to do before, and honestly preferred being and to pay with card. But overall it was an okay visit. I probably would look for other places next time if I was only looking for food. It's a good option to connect with family or friends over okay food

Since roast beef is no longer available, I tried the pot roast. I was extremely disappointed. Beef needed to be cut with a knife, there were 3 1” pieces of carrots, tepid mashed potatoes with extra gravy. The gravy is no longer the homemade beef gravy. It looks and tastes canned. I will never eat this again. Cracker Barrel was my favorite place to eat. At this point, I have no desire to return, sadly.

I just wanted to open this review and live it open until my next visit, i truly would love to give a second chance, to fully review this lovely restaurant, that it has been a family favorite for the last 10 years, i have not been in this particular location for 5 years, but all i can tell you that i remember to be a quiet nice place ware my wife and I used to go during the winter months and share a nice dinner and desert, in front of the fire place, anyway, today unfortunate was not one of those days, without going to the details on my experience this afternoon, I wanted to truly be fair, and give this restaurant a honest second chance, all my concerns have been addressed to the store general manager. Mardalena, she was a truly professional, and voided my bill even after I requested to pay my bill several times, She definitely asked me to please return, so I will definitely accept her request. Ambiance is really nice. But I don't know what the fuzz is all about when it come to food. I've come here like twice a year trying to convince myself that food is at least ok. Portions are a joke. Service is ok though. As you can see in the picture plate is mostly empty... and it was like $10 for that... 🙄

Food was not hot. Had to send a dish back 3 times to get hot enough. Had trouble at this place many times before. The place was almost empty and there is a reason for this. Cracker Barrel Headquarters needs to take control of this facility and bring it back to why we used to love Cracker Barrel.

Atmosphere is always on point! However , food and service on this visit was not the usual service I get when I have come to a crackle barrel! Food for myself one my friends was lukewarm! Not once did our server ask if we needed of our tea

Unfortunately, this experience was not pleasant. Took forever for our waiter to bring the bread out (meanwhile other diners who had been seated well after we'd placed our order had received their bread promptly). Our food took over 45 minutes for it to be brought out to us, and when it came out, all 4 of us got cold or barely warm food. We requested to speak with the manager. He said they were under staffed. We understand that, but it's more that they orders had been sitting out for a long time before they brought it to us. Dry, cold, unappealing. They did remake 2 of our meals at our request, but they then said they threw the grits that I had ordered away and asked what I'd like instead. When the new food came, one order was great. The other order (meatloaf) was still not very fresh and only somewhat warm. On a good note, the onion petals and sauce were good. The okra with the 2nd order was nice and hot, and the green beans were hot and tasty. Overall, there is much to be improved on at this location.

Unfortunately, this visit to Cracker Barrel was quite disappointing. It took around 30–35 minutes just to get our drinks, and we had to place our food order at the same time simply because it was the only moment we managed to get a server’s attention. Drinks arrived about 5 minutes later, and the food followed roughly 15 minutes after that. When the food finally arrived, we were served with dirty cups, plates, and utensils, and the meals were only lukewarm. We chose not to say anything because we didn’t want to prolong the wait even further. At one point, we considered leaving but decided to stay to avoid the awkwardness of canceling the order. All in all, this experience has made me reconsider returning in the future.

They were out of chicken and dublings and plus the brown gravy was real sweet for my meatloaf. The manager came after about 15 minutes after we order to let us know about the chicken. Plus they were also out of corn bread and told us it would be ready when we got our food, but it did not come then. After we ate and was ready to pay we were then told the corn bread was ready if you wanted to take it home. Is this what we wanted when we went to eat, no not at all. There was not even an offer to change our price on our ticket. I will go to other Cracker Barrels but not this one.

Staff was off regarding service. Terrible food. Looked it was under a heat lamp too long. Instead if hasbrowns I got crunchy chips. Eggs were shriveled up. I asked for soft bacon and got crunchy. Every time I go in lately something is off. They do offer to fix it but it has become a common thing

This was one of my favorite breakfast places but they changed everything and now it is terrible. The pancakes and sausage are different in the worst way. The food was cold, eggs were cold and rubbery. Even the biscuits are not the same. They were dry and over cooked. Sooo bad! Never again.

The coffee cup had lipstick the utensils were very dirty. The pancakes were very sweet the sausage patty was dry the eggs had no flavor .When the waiter brought our plates a plate of pancakes was placed on top of the eggs and sausage. They bring out our drinks, coffee, he forgets the creams, the Splenda. When requested them, he comes back after a while and only brings the creams. The waiter took for ever to come to our table, regardless I had called him several times and even had another waiter call him. He brings part of the stuff missing, and a BASKET of biscuits. When I told him that is not what we were missing, he said “ yes, it’s the same thing.” I am sorry but a basket of biscuits alone is not biscuits with gravy!!! Spoke to the manager but that was useless. A waste of our time and money.

I went in hoping to have a delicious brunch the way the pictures show online. The food was cold. The bread used for the French toast was the thin dinner bread they use for spaghetti dinners. Small thin and was white looking. Didn't taste like French toast and so I left it there. It came with a small chicken piece and that was hot and was juicy. It was just very small. They also didn't have any chicken strips. They said they ran out but I was there at 11 am so that was odd. My husband ordered ham, sausage, hashbrowns, eggs and pancakes. All items were cold. The pancakes did not look brown like the pictures. They were tan looking and the eggs were flat not fluffy like the pictures either. The waitress never came around to refill my coffee. I had to call on different staff members for assistance. I ordered the biscuits and cornbread and the biscuits were cold and stiff. The butter was frozen and would not spread on nicely. The cornbread was good. I just wish I could have spread butter on them. Instead it crumbled and fell off. Needless to sat we won't be back.

Had made a reservation in advance because I was going to be short on time but yet I waited an hour and a half to be seated after everyone that came in (with out a reservation) after me was sat simply because I had a “bigger party” it was a party of 4 adults and 2 children… it just shows bad management and poor customer service skills. Definitely will not be returning to an establishment that offers such careless service

Went for dinner with the family. After our drinks asked for the biscuit and cornbread while we looked on the menu for our order for 7. The server argued she couldn't do that because she needed to see what we were ordering to determine if our plates qualified to get the biscuits and corn bread. Never in the years that we have visited had we ever had that happen. Such poor customer service!! we won't be going back!

Avoid this place for large groups, Took too long to serve, burned pancakes, disorganized service, not capable of serving large groups. Many other tables were served way after we arrived, ate, paid and left while we still were not served.

I ordered food and when it got here everything is cold. It does not taste good at all. There is absolutely no flavor. Highly disappointed

For the service I give the host a 1 star. Th ghost a older lady, short, hair colored n glasses.... She is so rude not jst to us but to other people.she should be in the front. The rest our server she was excellent!! Food excellent!!! Caisher great!......just that host almost made us leave the restaurant but at the end great services frm other people.

We waited over an hour for the food after being seated, plus another 30 minutes waiting in the store beforehand. When the food finally arrived, it was cold. The waiter was extremely busy with other tables and had a very bad attitude.

I'm a regular customer here at Cracker Barrel, my kids love it. But we are extremely disappointed on the way we got treated at the service desk by the employee named Edwin. Extremely disrespectful to the Mexican nationality before us and my family as well that we understood everything he said because we know English. Edwin was extremely disrespectful and he seemed like he didn't care at all. Very disappointed on the way we got treated today.

Disappointment...with the food. Ordered what i think was a grandma plate of breakfast. From the get-go.. bacon was ok. It's not great, just ok. Ham dry like leather. Sausage all i could taste was smoke. Eggs even failed in texture taste...and Wow...the hashbrown with cheese... even my wife spit it out. The pancaks somewhat ok. She ordered platter with multiple sample. Steak was well and not medium well.. and just dry. Broccoli was good. Corn was straight out of a can. Shrimp were ok. Hey but the biscuits were ok. Not the corn muffins.

This place used to be delicious, not sure what happened. I ordered the plate with the garlic steak tips and chicken tenders and shrimp. The steak was dry, no sauce or garlic or any seasoning on it and the masked potato was gross. It was so dry. When we asked the manager about the steak tips he said sorry they came out of a frozen bag! My daughter ordered chicken and dumplings and it looked like the chicken came out of a can and the dumplings were just rolled up bread smothered in gravy. Not recommended at all.

Probably the worst CB in Texas. Our party of 9, half of us got our food, the other half did not. The manager needs more training! He cannot handle this place.

This is the worst cracker barrel in the country. I have traveled all over the US, this takes the first place 🏆of the worst in all categories. Long wait times, horrible service, and their menu is ALWAYS missing something, they always say: “we are out” or “we don’t have it”.
