It was my first time going to this restaurant. I have to say it was absolutely delicious. Service was amazing, the drink I ordered was very very good, and food delicious! We saw someone get engaged and the restaurant did a great job it was beautiful. I will definitely be going again.

Salt on the Water has become a summer tradition for me and my husband. We always kick off the season with a Summer Friday lunch here, and it never disappoints. We’ve been coming for years, and it continues to set the tone for a perfect summer—great food, refreshing drinks, and that unbeatable waterfront deck. I keep a running Excel list of my favorite Long Island spots, and this one consistently makes the cut. The lobster rolls are a must—always fresh, perfectly made, and generously portioned. It’s one of those places I truly look forward to returning to every time the weather warms up.

Oysters were great! Wish the burrata appetizer came with bread or something more dense aswell. The zucchini chips were pretty good. I got the Caribbean salmon which was to die for, seasoned well and we got sangria which is always good , group of 9 , good atmosphere and it was busy for a Monday night but the staff and servers were nothing but kind and attentive . Will be back’

Nice waterfront view, relaxed atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff. The menu offered a solid variety of options, the food was fresh, had good flavors and the portion sizes were appropriate in my opinion. Small hiccup as our baked clams were delivered cold but the rest of the food ordered was all fine. Easy to make reservations. Dock and dine options as well. Parking/valet available

Couldn't have spent a better evening! Beautiful night on the water with exceptional service, food, and drinks, with a server that was friendly, fun, and efficient and a manager who kept coming by to chat and check on our satisfaction... We'll be going back!!

Amazing food, atmosphere and service. Making reservations was a breeze. You can do it right on their website. Once there, our waitress was wonderful. She was very attentive, friendly and offered suggestions on the menu. The location is great too. On the water with a beautiful view. Very clean. The food and drinks were awesome. Highly recommend the cold lobster roll (they offer hot too). Prices are a bit steep but worth it. I traveled from out of town and would definitely make the trip back for SALT on the water.

My friends and I had such an amazing time at Salt this weekend. Our server Gianna was so sweet and accommodating she really made our experience 5-star worthy. Everything we ordered was delicious. The watermelon and feta appetizer was balanced perfectly and the watermelon was SO juicy. Gianna suggested the Seafood Risotto and we weren’t disappointed! The warm lobster roll with butter was fresh and delicious, and the french fries were super crispy. I know they’re known for being very busy especially on the weekends, but we went a little earlier than normal dinner rush and had no problem being seated inside. The view of the water can be seen from inside and outside seating! I definitely recommend coming here if you’re in the mood for some great seafood and amazing service!

Wow, I can go on about the food, service and atmosphere….not cheap, but probably one of the best lunches I’ve had in a while..splurge and go for it! Manager Mike and server Vinny took great care of us.

Perfect spot for a south shore Nassau county lunch on a sunny day. Great ambiance, fantastic service and awareness of the menu, fabulous food. Loved the strawberry salad, warm lobster roll and risotto cooked well. Drinks were great too. Looking forward to coming back again.

Everything was on point. The food was delicious and we didn’t wait forever to get it. Our server Stephanie was awesome , she gave us recommendations which didn’t disappoint. The atmosphere was just as nice, we stayed on the deck.

Final meal before my wife and I headed to JFK. This place helped me forget about the impending doom of reality of having to go back to the UK. The staff were fantastic and had a great chat to the manager, even him talking about Man Utd didn’t spoil it for me! The steak was perfect and literally melt in the mouth. We both loved this place and would definitely go back at the next opportunity.

Exceptional waterfront location with ample seating both inside and out. The servers were attentive and kind in making recommendations. The food was artfully presented, fresh, and delicious. An extra star for the chef and purchaser of such fresh seafood! For two foodies watching their waistlines, we did well here. I opted for a side of roasted seasonal vegetable and shrimp cocktail while my girlfriend chose an amazing shrimp salad. Although, I may have to go back and do without thinking about that next time as the entrees passing us by looked terrific. There is also a most inviting interior seating area with an expansive bar, panoramic windows, and an expert on-site manager ready to attend to your wishes. Make your way to SALT for a desirable gastronomic experience.

Really fabulous place on the water. Lively, friendly service, great atmosphere, fantastic views..we ate inside because rain was on its way and it was lunchtime. It still was so pleasant next to the sliding doors with the breeze and the view. Now the food was excellent..I had fish tacos so tasty and so many! My companion had the poke bowl they are still taking about it and especially the dessert a lemon pound cake with ice cream and whipped cream strawberries etc just so refreshing and delicious on the hot day we were there...I can't wait to go back and for dinner this time

The restaurant is over seeing the water. Beautiful scenery. The service was exceptional. The food was fresh and flavorful. I really enjoyed the drinks. I can tell they were handcrafted. I will definitely revisit this place. There is a parking lot there which was a big plus.

If you’re looking for an amazing restaurant that serves a wide variety of seafood 🍤🦞🐟 , where the drinks are strong 🍹, and the vibe is unforgettable, SALT on the water is the place for you 🥰! Tip: It’s only open during the summertime and it stays BOOKED and BUSY ✨ so make sure you book a reservation online or call in advance to reserve your seating 📝 I loved our experience so much that I took the time to create a YouTube video that shares my experience in further detail…simply copy/paste OR search 🔎 “📝 Seafood Review 🦞🧂📍SALT On The Water in Merrick, Long Island, New York 🐟” … to see the ratings we gave ALL our dishes 😉 During our recent trip we tried a variety of cocktails and dishes: from their classic cocktail, to their rum punch & mojitos, to their Thai calamari, shortrib sliders🍔 , coconut shrimp 🍤 lobster tails 🦞, rainbow cake 🍰 & chocolate 🍫 mousse cake.. and I must say we really enjoyed the quality of food served here and I can assure you that you too will enjoy your dishes here 😀 The servers & management team are exceptional & super friendly… we always have an amazing experience here ❤️ There’s also tonnes of FREE parking in this facility too which is an added plus 🥰 We will 1000% be back very soon!

Food was amazing. The appetizers such as the spinach and chips dip were fresh and delicious. The lobster mac and cheese tasted good but the portion was too small. The seafood risotto was delicious , perfected with natural seasoning , creamy yet with substance from each bite. The salmon with pineapples was delicious and sweet. Their drinks were great with flavour and more than enough liquor. The desserts was a perfect end as it was rich and savory. Amazing restaurant with a nice outiside area to sit in. Although i got lucky , always make a reservation a day ahead.

We enjoyed a wonderful anniversary lunch here at Salt. Beautiful waterfront table, with delicious food, great service and great atmosphere. Would definitely recommend. Our server Arielle was super nice, and we got a dessert on the house, which was thoughtful! Thank you for a special anniversary meal!

Tip: Reserve a table if you want the best view. This is a great brunch spot and very popular, especially on weekends. I love looking at the marina and the boats. The soft shell crab is delicious and the staff are very welcoming.

Took my Fiancée here for her 30th Birthday. Was our First time. Food was Great all around. Great selection. Great non seafood options. Great dessert. Nothing we didn’t like. I did get the cold lobster roll. One of the best I’ve had all summer. I got a beer which only come bottled which is not a problem so I can’t speak on the cocktails. My fiancée seemed to enjoy the mule she got. Chris took care of us well. Loved the ambiance. Nice summer spot. It was on and off drizzling when we went but the staff was quick to dry the tables outside. The bar seems to be buzzing later in the night. Valet Parking. If you like to park your own car there is street parking available with a small walk back. Nothing bad to say about SALT. Can’t wait to go back. “Stay Salty!”

Went to an early lunch today with a friend. We dined outside. It was peaceful, enjoyable. The servers were friendly. All service was excellent and the food was absolutely amazing. Had the lobster roll with their summer vegetables-cooked and presented perfectly. We ordered cheesecake and cappuccinos for dessert and dined inside for that part because we asked to be seated inside since it seemed that some nearby bees were interested in our dessert as well! We were kindly and promptly shown more seating indoors. The entire experience was wonderful. Will certainly be going back!

Went to salt again this summer (and the last few seasons) and Andrea has always been the best! She always checks in and knows what’s good on the menu. Definitely the best waitress! The outdoor seating is great. Looking forward to it cooling down a bit and sitting by the heaters.

C

We were accommodated last minute, which was a definite plus. We ordered the lobster roll it was really good, actually! The baked clams, which were just okay (too heavy on the breadcrumbs), and the watermelon salad, which is always a summer winner. My virgin piña colada was the perfect blend of summer. The cross-breeze when sitting inside is everything. Overall, it was a great experience. I didn’t give a perfect score only because the desserts were disappointing.

Ive been going to Salt for years! It’s a fantastic atmosphere, right on the water: absolutely beautiful for the sunset. Definitely would recommend their drinks and their appetizers; theyre entrees are a little overpriced for the quality.

My first time here. Celebrated my birthday with great friends. Outside seating was perfect! Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. We had the tuna tacos and fried vegetables for appetizers , and they were delicious! I also had a tuna bowl which was amazing! Would be nice to have a few more healthy choices for appetizers. The sliders were great too! Looking forward to going back.

Great location that gets quite crowded when the weather is nice as most seating is outside by the water. I took a friend out for dinner here at their request. The menu cators to most with a mix of mostly seafood and other land selections. We started with a dozen raw oysters, $38 that were very good, even though one was tiny, and they should have included another to make up for it. But they tasted great. I had asked my waiter if the Halibut on the menu was good, and she wholeheartedly recommended it as her favorite dish there. When it arrived, it looked amazing, but it was clearly a previously frozen fish that was hard and dry. It was as if it were left on a warming table too long. The mixed veggies in a nice clear sauce helped to moisten it up as did a requested cup of drawn butter. To be fair, when the waiter finally came back to check, I had already eaten half when I was offered another. But I refused to have them bring another. This was my friend's night out, and I did not want to delay our meal. In any case, the hot lobster roll $43 was well liked by my guest. This is a popular place and I can see why with its nicely presented food and atmosphere outside. I am not sure I would oder fish here, but I might consider something else if I find myself in this area again.

Great water front views and an expansive deck with lots of outdoor seating. Salt offers a comfortable atmosphere with great food and drinks. The calamari, mussels, and oysters were all great starters. For the main course, the short ribs and seafood pasta were great selections. Our waiter was Anthony, who handled our group of 9 with ease. Salt does get very crowded, so make reservations to secure your outdoor seating.

Outdoor dining is great. Large space between tables. Large umbrellas at tables. Might need a cap still if you don't like the sun. Small bees fly by here and there. Self parking available in huge parking lots, directed by attendant. Staff is very friendly and courteous. Prices are high and overall quality is good. Salt burger was decent. Seafood risotto was better and had a nice portion of seafood in it. Lava cake with coffee ice cream was great. Salt express drink was ok, (taste like if a mojito was made with cucumber instead of mint) but it's not strong. Calamari was nicely fried.

Honestly would’ve given three stars if it wasn’t for our server Chris, he seemed to be the most attentive and accommodating. Our drinks took 20 minutes to come out (He told us it was taking longer than usual), our food even longer. One of my friends ordered the clam chowder and it was extremely watery. The sever took it off our bill without a question. My “martini” was served in a snifter glass and the chili flakes that were supposed to be on the rim were just sitting my drink, a bit odd. We sat with dirty appetizers plates right up until our food came, at a small table when there was 5 of us. The pasta dish featured here is what saved the night, the kitchen let me substitute the shrimp for lobster for $10 more, sold. The owner also did come up to our table and seemed very friendly. We live far away so it’s probably not something we would travel back for, but it was good for what we got!

Wonderful Service!! Staff was excellent friendly and attentive at all times. Great Atmosphere/Location! Delicious Food! Unfortunately no seperate lunch menu, so it was very expensive. It may not be a concern to others, but we were not a fan of the Choice of background music. Music is a part of the Atmosphere. Listening to familiar music while eating/drinking makes for a better experience. ( The volume was perfect) We did have a great time!

On Sunday 9/28/25 my family enjoyed dinner at Salt. Vinny our server was excellent. The food was delicious. The bathroom attendant was kind and helpful. However, we ordered 3 Casamigos margaritas. They were $20 each. We love margaritas and we love Casamigos. But, with the first sip, we got a strong, acrid alcohol flavor. That is not indicitive of Casamigos. I knew the alcohol was not what we ordered. We tried to struggle through the margaritas to not make waves, but we finally informed Vinny that the taste was just too strong and acrid to consume them. Vinny comp'ed us back for one of the drinks. The problem is when my husband and I got home we were terribly and violently sick. This made for a very bad, sleepless night. I think switching out the alcohol in a beverage for a cheaper one does not promote trust in the establishment. We are disappointed in Salt.

Decent food, you mostly pay for the view and atmosphere. The salmon Caribbean was delicious, but did not come with enough potatoes. The calamari was good but I’ve had better. My boyfriend got filet migon and for the price I thought it would be good. It came practically burnt and didn’t have enough salt on it. He asked for it medium rare and it came out dry. Overall, decent place, cool to have a few apps and drinks and chill. Probably wouldn’t come here for the meals, it’s not bad but for the price and amount you get it not worth it.

K
Kat Hoskins

The service and atmosphere in this restaurant are impeccable! You can really tell that they put tremendous effort into presentation from the ambience to the food on your table. My husband and I ordered the land and sea and surf and turf, respectively. My steak had absolutely no flavor, was overcooked and my lobster tasted like it was dragged across the bottom of the harbor before being served.

C
Cliff Frost

Great atmosphere, service got better throughout the dinner. Food was good. Fries were half soggy, garlic bread was literally bread with jarred chopped garlic on it, raw. We didn't eat it. Burgers were decent. Others had watermelon and feta, chicken and waffles. They thought it was amazing. Go have a nice dinner outside, enjoy the beautiful views.

DO NOT order oysters and clams. Very disappointed over half of the seafood tower we ordered. Oysters and little clams were not fresh at all (you can see it’s yellow & the meat is dry) a staff said we just “didn’t like it” and that no one complained that day (well they should’ve, I’m not kidding when I said I had $1 oyster that exact weekend in NY better than that). If the source of the oysters and clams does not change, don’t get them! The restaurant replaced the oysters with fresher ones and didn’t charge for the little clams. I still left 20% tips since our server was nice.

Gotta say very disappointed....1st the positives atmosphere was pleasant being outside by the water definite plus. Service was ok.... The drinks heh ordered a margarita casamigos upgrade prob top 5 worst cocktails I ever had at $20 thought at the very least would be mediocre. It was absolutely undrinkable it had an artificial sweetener that tasted disgusting and sent to back the seafood risotto was unfortunately bad it was definitely not Italian rice but seemed to be Jasmine rice. The Salmon the ok... Mac and cheese was not toasted top wise. U fortunately I cannot give this place a second chance.

P
Patrice Nolan

Very disappointed!! Avoid at all cost the only positive thing was the view..everything we ordered was dry from the burger that was over cooked for both of my guest to the bacon that took forever to come out that they forgot on one. Lobster Mac n cheese was edible but the consistency wasn’t good. And having corn in it was unexpected. I ordered short rib sliders for 24 dollars and by the time I got to the third slider I was over it buns was old! not soft at all, no seasoning on meat just dry no sauce what so ever tough meat on a dry bun for 24 dollars! I also ordered a ceaser salad and wanted olive oil and vinegar was sold they didn’t have any olive oil she gave me a honey vinegar but it tasted off. So again I had a basic dry salad for 17 bucks. Place is a rip off yeah the view is nice but for the amount of money I spent I left hungry and disappointed. The service was not the best either. You have to put your whole order in together can’t get apps first to table. I asked for more water for all that dry food I was eating and she never came back to give me water. After spending 265 in this economy and leave hungry feeling like we ate at a school cafeteria is crazy. If your going to be charging these prices for food it should be at least good food.

The atmosphere here is the only thing that we enjoyed. I saw a similar review and I couldn’t agree more. I’ve been here twice before just last year and didn’t have the same experience. The quality of the food and the taste declined significantly. The customer service poor- the waitress was extremely inattentive. Sadly, I brought my guest there and he too was extremely disappointed. We ate because we were hungry, but we did not enjoy and we still left hungry because we couldn’t eat all of the food. The calamari was only good because of the Thai sauce that came with it - had it not had that it would be flavorless. They changed the muscles from the lobster muscles to a regular lemon garlic muscle that had absolutely no taste, and the texture of the muscles were not great. Then our mains- fish tacos and lobster roll, also a disappointment - no taste. We had to ask the bus boys for things like salt and pepper, napkins and to call our waitress several times. Truly, not worth the expense.
