We ❤️ the Sunrise diner been going for years! The salmon ,the scallops are delicious always .The avocado toast with lox is the best Thae lox is cut thin and is the best lox I've ever eaten .The guacamole is very good just a little less jalapeños make it the best ! Food has always been excellent. Service has always been amazing and consistent. Consistency is important, this place seems to be on their game all the time, even when they are super busy. I mostly get my orders delivered, and they always get to me on time or quicker. Nothing to complain about. Read on for some specific feelings about this amazing diner. They always give you plenty of napkins, sauces, and utensils as well. That's a big peeve of mine when an eatery doesn't supply you with those amenities of their own accord. So many y places have given me a bag with NOTHING to work my hands with and NOTHING to eat with...this place DOESN'T do that to me, and I think that says something about their dedication to servicing their customers. One of the best diner's I've ever eaten from (and I have been inside to pick up orders, very nice inside as well).

I love this place. The waitstaff is consistent and nice. The food is consistently good. Price is what it is - no more expensive than anywhere else in the area. There are healthy options to with the make your own plate if you're looking for simple American dining with a protein, carb and vegetable.

We haven't been here in a long time, and wanted a good meal after coming home from a day in NYC. Our waiter, Rudy was friendly and funny. The service and food was very good. My burger was cooked perfectly, and my wife's chicken souvlaki was terrific. Can't wait to go back!

Very clean and always packed. When diners are busy you know the food is being made freshly and not sitting around. The server was excellent and didn't miss a beat. We came here for breakfast on a Sunday. They have specials but everything has gone up in price thanks to this administration so don't expect to dine out for cheap. Overall great experience.

***UPDATE. Went to get take out as the deli was closed. Ordered 2 sandwiches and a Greek salad. Was surprised the bill was $65. Even more surprised when I open a sandwich and there's only 2 slices of meat and the crusts on the bread are hard! They also forgot the cole slaw and pickle! Unbelievable! We ordered the 20oz Ribeye. All 3 were cooked perfectly. It was also nice that they offered a few healthier sides most diners don't. We have eaten there 3x this past week. 2 breakfast and 1 dinner. Great eggs Benedict. The only thing I didn't like so far was the home fries. Kind of bland and mushy. Not real home fries. But then again I'm from the south. I would definitely recommend them.

Food was fresh & delicious! My son has a Belgium waffle that he devoured happily. I had the avocado omelette that was really delicious. My daughter had the mac'n cheese grilled cheese which she said was "yummy". The service was excellent. We didn't wait long for our food and our waited checked back on us during our meal. My friend Cathie's review: My friend and I just enjoyed an outstanding meal. The Lobster Tail was by far the best that, I have ever had. It was incredibly tender and tasty. The Filet Mignon was cooked for me perfectly the way that I would hope, my steak to be. Nicely browned on the outside, with the whole inside PINK and tender. With no waste to this steak. The baked potato was soft. The asparagus was not stringy or hard, each piece was good. And served before the meal comes a beautifully made fresh salad. My server's name was Bobby. He was polite, personable, pleasant and efficient! I eat out a lot in restaurants and also diners. This diner is: the BEST diner experience that I, have ever had. Cottage-like, with a very comfortable feel. Very well organized and well-run with attention to detail. I highly recommend the Sunrise Diner.

My daughter and son in law now live in Wantagh and order takeout frequently from sunrise diner and always rave about the large portion size, speed and quality of the food!! My family and I had dinner here for the second time tonight as we were in the area again for my daughter’s CYO game. The service was great. The food was brought out super fast. We had the Mediterranean Spreads for app. The hummus tasted freshly made. We also had the Mediterranean Panini and Greek Salad. And avocado toast. Everything was super delicious! Definitely will be back whenever we are out this way.

I went there after a wrestling show at Mulcahy's near by on 6/29/25. Samantha was my waitress. Had a great Chicken wrap with curly fries. While there I recorded a video of how the wrestling show went. Samantha was very kind.

1st time eating at the Sunrise Diner and it was a pleasure! This is an old school joint and it has all AMERICAN theme as most AMERICAN DINERS DO. However, this diner had a 99.9 % Hispanic servants, which is a plus. They took our orders and served our meals in about 15 minutes. The wait was worth it. The food was 100% spot on! Low sodium and juicy flavors to melt. I wiped my entire plate with my appetite! It was so! Good! That I even ordered pancakes afterwards. Trust me folks, this is an American diner you should not skip on. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS JOINT for anyone who wants an excellent meal at a classy place. Best diner on LI! My go to diner for 20 years and it just gets better every year. While other diners stay in a time warp, the sunrise diner updates their menu frequently, while keeping the classics. Looking forward to the EV charging stations so I can charge up while getting a good meal. Great food, service and by far the cleanest diner you will ever dine at. I always recommend this diner to friends and they all agree.

Unfortunately, the price to eat out is up everywhere. Fortunately, the food and service were good here. I had the usual diner fare; hamburger, fries, and a shake. I don't know if you can get any more American than that.

Pretty solid diner breakfast. My wife got the quesadilla which is huge and she LOVED. I got the eggs and ham breakfast with pancakes. The pancakes are light and fluffy which I love. I wish they used a higher quality syrup or provided warm syrup.

Recently enjoyed our breakfast at Sunrise Diner. Had a nicely cooked sunny side ups, bacon, and homefries platter. Other folks had similar breakfast fare. The staff was friendly and attentive. No complaints here. Just complements.

My meal was fine....nothing exceptional and nothing bad. Truthfully ...it was good. Where they lost a few points... No bread or cracker basket on the table. No Cole slaw or pickles on the side. No ketchup...had to ask. Bathroom.. (Mens) tiny and cumbersome. Most folks were enjoying their food. Quality was good. Portions were good. Enjoy your dinner!

Been coming here with my family for a while and always enjoy the great food and service. This recent visit was a bit jarring because of the prices. I was here a little over a month ago and don't remember the prices being this high. I get these days everyone is affected by the rise in costs etc. But $97 for 3 people? Almost $20 each burger (2x), ~$37 for skirt steak, ~$11 for frozen mozzarella sticks? In the past we would get these per usual and the total used to be around $60. Plus tip, to spend over $100 for 3 people at a diner, not in Manhattan or fancy restaurants?? It's heartbreaking but we will think twice about coming here as frequently as we used to. If this is the future, it's looking bleak. 😕

Visit Date: September 2, 2025 My girlfriends and I started doing a monthly breakfast. Mostly we're trying to hit diners but we're open to other places as well. Mostly we're trying to have breakfast but depending on schedules one day might be lunch one day might be dinner. For this time we picked Sunrise Diner in Wantagh for the letter S. We are also trying to go through the alphabet in restaurant names but we are going out of order. Our service was good in the fact that our waitress checked on us, asked us what we needed but she didn't seem very friendly. She did her job but without much of a smile. The food was okay I was back here a few years ago and felt the same way about the food. I had the breakfast burger. It wasn't terrible but I wouldn't feel like it was anything to write home about either. So overall to me Sunrise diner is okay. I wouldn't say not to come here but I also wouldn't jump to come here.

Was pleasantly surprised by this diner, we could tell it’s a neighborhood staple as we were just visiting for the beach nearby. The brunch options really hit the spot and the service was great. There’s quite a long list of items you can choose from and both of our dishes were good. The potatoes were a bit overcooked for my dish but it was still edible. Would definitely stop by again if I’m in the area.

Food was excellent! The parfait is absolutely delicious. But the service was subpar. Don't know if our waitress was having a rough morning or not (didn't seem to be the case by the friendly interactions with other guests). This is normally an excellent Diner, had some hiccups w/take out, but I will continue to come based on what is being served around & near here. Normally, I order the same item, probably 20 times, Turkey Club, Russian, Fries & rings and a burger or something for my wife It started at under $ 10, now $ 16, no problem and I understand. We are particular, as all of you, price isn't an issue, the food and the place is. I ordered from the car coming from a 2 hour trip. I could of picked up anywhere. I ordered the Turkey club on rye, fries w/rings, We would split the sandwich. Now that is an important sentence!! This is based on what we had always received for years, I could never finish half and hate the left over. So I ordered! First, I was told, they can't split fries & rings, only comes with the burger? Not sure what that meant, I said I had always received it, He said he would put in 2 rings in, again, not sure what he meant, or where this was going. We picked up, went home and opened The pickles and coleslaw are now child size, and I understand! I opened the now smaller box, it used to hold just the fries and NOW THE SANDWICH WAS IN THERE, It was smaller, & had 4 thin slices of turkey on it. I can only say, this must be a mistake, as I had it a month ago, or I would not of come, ordered, OR SPLIT IT. EMBARRASSING, BTW, it was easily finished. The mountain of fries you used to get were in a small burger size box. Is it a mistake and you raised the price, cut the portions by 1/2 of turkey slices, trying to make it up on portions, & the fries etc, to make a difference, then I understand. But you have to change the menu pictures then as that is deceiving. I'm confused who's idea this was, and did you think doing this to the once large and feared club would go unnoticed. And the fries, limp,,soggy, and also happy they were not the normal over powering order. I know you have a great business, people were lined up but I HATE TAKEOUT SURPRISES!, Especially when I am a repeat customer, and count on you. I also don't want to be part of mistakes, not to be practiced or tested on, or given & not given, anything by mistake as that is unprofessional. When its take out, I can't call you to the table, send it back or ask for anything, so we are stuck with what you decided to give us or not check on. If you feel this is now it, sending a smaller sandwich version of what was expected, and a small portion of soggy fries and that's all you can do, then change the menu picture & I apologize in advance and will move on. I also know if you served this at the restaurant or at my table, it would of been an issue, I would of returned it or left but that was not case. I just wasted more valuable time writing this, as with your order last night. I hope it was all worth the cuts you made, a few extra slices and fries.

Breakfast wasn't very good and overpriced. But it It was a nice diner and waiters.

Looks nice on the outside. Service was sub par. The food was decent except for the plastic wrapper we found presumably cooked into the burger. That wasn't too appetizing and definitely not healthy. The waiter didn't seem to care in the least. So I would recommend this diner ONLY if you're desperate and don't want to make the U turn and check out one of the other choices on Sunrise highway. I'm sure any one of them would have been better!

I ordered two eggs with sausage and homofries. The food was served barely warm. Service wasn't great either.

Ordered a Chicken Parm sandwhich with sweet potato fries using uber eats. The chicken cutlet had barely moisture to it, it was clearly overcooked. The sweet potato fries came soggy and some of it is overcooked as well. Definitely won't be ordering from this diner again.

The ratings on this diner were not honest. We went as a party of three and a toddler and not one of us enjoyed or wanted to finish our meal. I got a chicken shish with rice. The chicken was not fully cooked when I took them off the the skewer. I also burnt my finger trying to take the food off the metal skewer. With the chicken uncooked, it compromised the rest of the meal. By the time the waitress came to check on us, we were all ready to leave. We were never offered refills or asked how our food was. We will not return. The worst part was we were still hungry and stopped someplace else for dinner after.

This place was good when we first started ordering from here. The last few times have been an awful experience. I asked for no cheese on my burger and they put cheese on both sides of the bun. Asked for RED onion only they covered in white onions Yes, there's a difference). Patty on the burgers the last few times have been literally peeling and falling apart like they are putting it frozen on the grill and the meat is peeling. French fries were soggy and undercooked. Breading on mozzarella sticks and onion rings is bland and battery. I won't be ordering from here ever again. $50 for a burger and a gyro and the food is gross and they consistently mess up the order. Something is usually missing from the order as well. Forgotten soup, etc. Sunrise Highway has about 5 other diners in this vicinity I will be going to one of them instead.

Me and my partner came here for a late lunch. I got the tex mex salad and he got a Greek salad. Both dressings that came with our salads were not authentic.. the lime dressing was very weird, I ended up asking for ranch dressing. and the Greek one was too sweet also a bit weird. The flavors were all wrong. My chicken was very bland and not seasoned well. I honestly will not come back here and I dont recommend.

Always my first choice of diners in the area, but after this weekend that may be changing. The food was good. The problem was the service. Our waitress had an attitude as if she did not want to be there. Literally slammed our coffees on the table and sighed when asked for a refill. To top it off as we were ordering she was literally staring off out the window and completely ignoring us as we were speaking. And we again had to repeat our orders. She never came back to check on us or ask if we needed anything. Never did I receive such an attitude from a server anywhere.

There are a bunch of scammers. They don’t want to honor the prices on the menu which charged $13.99 for a bacon cheeseburger not the deluxe and when I got to the register to pay the nasty nasty waitress who is behind the register when I pointed it out to her, she said oh those are old menus and we don’t honor that anymore. Well, then you shouldn’t be giving them to people so instead of paying $10.49 for a burger that we couldn’t even eat because it wasn’t cooked properly we were charged $13.99. These businesses don’t deserve customers when they don’t know how to treat them properly and they lie and try to gouge and she was what they wanted to choose each day differently. No, thank you would never go back and will never recommend.
