Very good food and service. Pleasant country style vibe. They have various types of BBQ meats and burgers. Homemade pies too! Yummy veggies and all types of sauces!
Always great , food and service... the pies are superb.. our favorite is the lemon pie !
I was surprised by this location. We've only eaten at a few locations. But the food was good. You can definitely get full by the selection they have of meats and sidedishes. But my biggest joy was dessert. The bread pudding is absolutely one of the best I've eaten. This is done in-house. So you can tell how much love is put into it. Make sure you leave room for dessert.
Really good platter best all around BBQ, always with a great service.
Esby is a real one, she makes this place go around I'm not even tryna be extra. I normally wouldn't go out of my way to leave a review but nah she cool, makes sure everyone gets what they paid for but also doesn't take things too serious...we need more people like her in the industry fr...also shout out to the chefs too who prepped these meals, very very delicious and hot like it should be!!! Mac and cheese bites were 6/10 though not very good, didn't want corn inside my Mac and cheese but hey you win some and you lose some, but tonight, we came up big...all thanks to eBsy and the wonderful staff..keep it up.
Great food and service. Loved the brisket and apple pie 😋
Brisket loaded baked potato was a great delight. Great portions for a really great price
Me and my 3 yr old grandson went here to grab some food and everything from the service to the food was good . I had a taste some chain bbq and Famous Dave’s did the trick . I would definitely recommend them !!! My drink was good as well !!
My 1st time here and I loved it 🥰 The atmosphere, service and food AMAZING !!!
What can I say, this place is amazing. The waiter we had was awesome! He new the menu very well even the drinks and could make suggestions of his faves. The food came out prompt, hot and was delicious. Absolutely loved the rib tips, stlouis style ribs and coleslaw. The cornbread muffins were good too. We went on my birthday and I got a nice complimentary sundae to share with my family. Will definitely go here again. Update 2019: I still Love this place and happy hour Sunday.
I was looking for a place to eat and came across Famous Daves. I am so hlad that I stopped by. Great food in a nice atmosphere. I sat in the bar area and enjoyed my meal awhile watching NFL games on the 5 large screen TV"s. Definitely recommend Famous Daves.
Love barbecue and Famous Dave's delivers. Awesome, friendly staff. Great food. Me and my brother both liked it very much.
It was a top 10 BBQ experience with their brisket and burnt ends. Vanilla pudding topped it off for a great night after our Halloween ride with Onewheel AZ. Yummm
What a great place to eat! Love famous Dave's already and this location is fabulous. The staff are all so friendly and helpful. Our waiter was so nice! We got in right away on a Friday night at 5. The food was excellent as always. Love the famous burger with rich and sassy sauce. The cheesy grits were awesome too!
Stopped by for a good meal Saturday night and got that and a great experience as well. Roman was out server and had a great positive energy that set the perfect time for the night. Service was friendly and fast. Food was hot and fantastic too! Thanks for making our dinner great!
Espy is hands down the BEST every time we visit Famous Dave’s! The service is always top-notch—friendly, fast, and genuinely welcoming. You can tell she cares about her guests and takes pride in what she does. We always leave with full bellies and big smiles thanks to her! Highly recommend asking for Espy if you want excellent service. ❤️
Everyone there’s is great, plus my aunti works there so we always get a booth far away. This is the place my buddy’s and i celebrate milestones. And I love the country music
Shasta-Kay was the perfect person for us. She was friendly, knowledgeable and extremely efficient. Our lunch was extraordinary food, ambiance and service.
My lady and I ordered some takeout for two in this barbecue place is one of my favorites. Then going here since like 2019. I highly recommend it
We were seated right away. Wait staff was friendly and efficient. The manager came by and visited and brought us more delicious muffins. We are well fed, happy and feel like a part of the family! 😁
Fantastic and fun. Superb waitstaff and bartenders. full bar. Close to Cubs . Very easy spot to get an Uber. Perfect for taking a pedicab from a baseball game. happy hour M-F 3-6 has the best deals in the area.
Came here to celebrate my anniversary with my wife. If you like. Barbecue, you can't go wrong with the ribs, bread pudding, or heck.... I can't remember ordering anything that I didn't like here. Service is great! The atmosphere was comfortable and relaxing.
Consistent food quality. Wide selection of different types of food especially if you have a picky eater. Casual atmosphere with a sink to wash your hands after eating the ribs. Tables are spacious so you're not squeezed in . Staff are well trained and very happy to see you.
The food was great. I loved the chopped pork and baby back ribs. My favorite was the corn muffin. Greatest thing ever
I have been coming to Famous Dave’s since I was a little girl, so of course I always love stopping in for some ribs and bread pudding. However, this location brings me extra joy because of Espie, the best waitress ever. We specifically come to this restaurant to see her. She is always so kind and takes such good care of us. We love you Espie! 🫶
A great place to enjoy a big, delicious meal with the family. The food came out quick and the service was phenomenal. Esperanza made the entire experience feel lively with her character and sense of humor. Great experience overall!
We went with friends on a Friday night and honestly i was impressed. The server had so much knowledge I wish I could remember his name. I did tell him that I've never met a server so knowledgeable about meat and it was awsome. The food was really good too. No waiting. Totally will go back!!
Always a great place to have a me, a date night or just meet with friends. I wish they would bring back the smoked iced tea. The food is always hot, flavorful amd good portions. The server was quick, attentive and had good suggestions. The supreme sampler is always a great go to for a variety of smoked meats.
Nice atmosphere. The food is good with large portions at burgers friendly prices
We love Famous Dave’s. The food is always really good! Tonight was no different… the flavors were spot on. I ordered 6 cornbread muffins for my family as an appetizer and the second they hit the table, they were disappearing (see my picture). Famous Dave’s cornbread is my favorite of any restaurant. Dominic was our server and was very attentive. 5 stars for his service. The reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 is because the food came out warm, but not hot. That’s my only criticism of this location compared to the many others I’ve eaten at. We will definitely return.
Bummer they no longer have the potato salad! Food was as good as we remembered! Service was not the fastest…we waited for almost half hour before our order/ drinks were brought to us and the restaurant was not full. This was the server’s fault but the hostess as she sat us in a section where the server was not scheduled yet.
Famous Dave's has always been consistent. It's pretty okay BBQ grub, for the masses, but it's missing the depths of flavors and personality that comes from a joint run by a true Pit Master. The downside of pleasing and serving en masse is that their dishes are somewhat average. Their menu seemed a bit smaller that it used to be. A few new items. I typically order a mixed meat plate, because I can rarely make up my mind. This visit we had the St. Louis ribs, burnt ends, and Texas brisket. All were good, as always. The Mesa location is very casual and clean, not as rustic as some of the other locations I've been to. Several TV's showing sports - many with planters hung directly in front of them, which made no sense. Very good service and the food always comes quickly. A good choice to get your BBQ fix.
The sweet water catfish is AWESOME! and I usu never order fried fish at a restaurant...esp not a bbq restaurant. The bread pudding is amazing too! The don't buck with Dave's chicken sandwich tastes like fish...gross
Great service and good food. Meat was tender, and they had 3 options for bbq sauce you could pick and choose and mix to suit your liking.
Omg delicious !!! BBQ sauces are all good catfish fingers are awesome just to small. Brisket was amazing sausage was delicious right texture and flavor. Mac and cheese and red skin mashed potatoes not worth it. Corn bread muffin sweet and savory nice hard outside soft sweet inside. Would have been five stars except for the portions were way too small.
I was pleased to have happy hour after 6 years! Famous Dave's closed Kansas City, Kansas so being in Arizona was nice to have again. The waiter was on point he was very attentive. I love the pickles here,I had rib tips and fries and my daughter had wings baked beans . I'm sure we will visit again
Food was very good as expected as we've been to multiple FD's. It wasn't very busy either for a Saturday, our party of 7 was able to be seated right away. Staff was friendly but our server left a bit to be desired. They weren't busy so not sure why we had to ask twice for straws, twice for a "to go" box & refills were late. Otherwise good visit. No hesitation on visiting again.
The food was good. There was really nothing wrong with it it just wasn't anything outstanding. Our server was rather abrasive but I think she was doing it on purpose thinking she was funny, so I won't fault her for that. Maybe that's the way they are there. I couldn't tell as I was shoved in a corner and couldn't see what was going on in the restaurant. Really my only gripe was they put us at a table that really wasn't suitable for our size of party. We had six people and they put us in a corner booth. The way the table was made it really awkward to eat and very difficult to talk to one another. So if you come with a party of six or more don't let them talk you into a corner booth. We tried to protest but they assured us it would be fine. It wasn't.
The service is always excellent at this restaurant. The waitstaff is always very attentive to my needs. The food is good but not great. They keep portion sizes low to cut costs, and I'm always suspicious when the food arrives within minutes after ordering. This means the food is kept on warmers, not cooked fresh to order. Perhaps because of this, the BBQ chicken I received during my last visit was a little dry. This isn't going to stop me from going back. No restaurant is perfect, and the food here is good for its price. Another thing: I noticed one other reviewer complaining about paying full price for a happy hour drink. But if you look at the time on the receipt she posted, it is not happy hour.
This location has really gone down hill since my last visit. The service was great, the food was quick. But I feel that my pork was sitting out all day, it was dry and most of it was burnt. It took me some time to notice that my pork was burnt because it came out covered in BBQ sauce (likely to hide the blackened char). I told the server that I was unhappy about how crispy and crunchy my pork was, so they got me a new one. When the second pork came out it was also covered in sauce, I moved it and saw a few very charred pieces. Very disappointed. I ordered the sweet potato souffle for the first time. Since it was my first time ordering this item from this restaurant, I am not sure if the taste was standard. The sweet potato souffle was bland and the marshmallows were raw. I have never had raw marshmallows on sweet potatoes before, it was extremely underwhelming. The purpose of my visit was to try the food before making a large catering order. Needless to say that I am still looking for a caterer for my event.
Food quality has taken a huge dip. My server was amazing. The food is MID AT BEST!!! Food wasn't as good as it was when famous Dave's started they got comfortable.
I feel like the food is not like it used to be. The portions are smaller and the menu was not the same. I miss the Georgia mustard bbq sauce, it was the best! The place was really dead but maybe the lunch rush hadn’t come in yet.
Meat was dry. Took forever for them to bring plates after they delivered appetizer. (For heaven's sake, we're not heathens.) Chopped salad was so-so. But the gal who delivered our food was great. And the sticky corn muffin was good. Sweet tea wasn't quite sweet enough for me.
This is mostly just a little warning to pet owners that despite this restaurant having an outdoor patio, it is *not* pet friendly. I'll get into some details in a second. But first, this is ok! Restaurants don't have to be pet friendly, though honestly this is the first restaurant in the entire valley that I've ever been to with a patio that wasn't. That's a big reason I'm writing this warning, because it's quite unusual. But I don't want people to think that I'm some sort of Karen expecting every restaurant to accommodate dogs. We usually leave ours at home for that reason, but for a little while we can't do that - we're in a situation where we have to take our little chihuahua in a carrier pretty much everywhere we go, so we've specifically been looking for restaurants with outdoor seating areas. Anyway, it's not that the restaurant isn't pet friendly that's causing me to leave a negative review. It's the explanation we were given. First, we were told that dogs need to be "under the table" at all times (we were told this several times) and that it's a "health code violation" otherwise. We were told this applies to the patio as well as the inside of the restaurant; we had actually asked for the patio and were initially told that pets were not allowed there at all, again due to health codes. That explanation is 100% false. First, the restaurant needs a permit for their patio to accommodate pets, and they clearly just haven't gotten one. Second, there is nothing in the Arizona health code at all about dogs needing to be kept "under the table". There are rules, certainly, especially if you don't have a patio permit(!), but that is not one of them. So the manager, which is who I assume we were speaking to (he seemed to be someone of authority), was either lying or simply does not know the health code he was referring to. Either way, we didn't argue. I was there to eat lunch, not cause a problem. My wife briefly suggested that maybe we could keep the dog under the table, but I said "no, let's just go". I'm not going to argue but I'm also not going to patronize a restaurant that's both too cheap to get a patio permit and then lies about it. I will, however, leave a negative review later. If you don't have a permit, just say so and apologize and tell us you're sorry but we can't be accommodated. Alternatively, just say the restaurant's own policy is that dogs need to be kept under the table. Do not lie. I owned a business for many years and worked in customer service for years before that; it's *always* to everybody's benefit to tell the customer the truth. Now, here's the kicker. Two days before, we had visited with the same dog in the same carrier and were accommodated on the patio where we ate a perfectly good meal with no issues. So, if they don't have a patio permit for pets, that certainly *was* a health code violation! But that is ideally how it's supposed to work. Get the permit and let pets be on the patio like any normal restaurant with an outdoor seating area. The food is fine. Not the best barbecue I've had but I wouldn't be giving a 2 star review if the food was all I was reviewing. It was obviously good enough for us to go back. It just would be nice if their staff actually understood the rules and applied them consistently. And hey, maybe actually get that permit like every other restaurant with a patio.
I've been coming to this Dave's since the day they opened. I came in today and even though the sign says $5 for wine on happy hour they charged me $6:50, if your going to put up a sign saying $5 for a glass of wine, then charge me $5.00 not $6.50. The manger in charge George would not correct it and did not care that they just lost there longest customers due to over charging.
First time in with my wife tonight, and it will be our last. I will never come here again. Ordered cheese curds, never got them. Was charged for them. Asked to see an itemized bill and was given a hard time about it. Got the item removed that we never got after asking a few times. Our server GABE was ABSOLUTELY freaking HORRIBLE even after we told him it was our first time in. You think that would have been your time to step it up a notch to ensure you get a repeat customer, BUT you didn't. Literally took our order, didn't bring everything to us but charged us for it. Brought one refill to the table for ONE person, even though there were two of us at the table. Not to mention the couple of HEALTH CODE VIOLATIONS that I saw while we were here. Servers are NOT supposed to have painted fingers nails. This dude's nails were power blue. The table wasn't cleaned very well before we sat down. The paper towel roll had bbq sauce on it. I mean, at least take the time to clean the table if you aren't going to check on people. The service was so HORRIBLE that this was the second time in my life that I didn't leave a tip for a server. That should be enough to make you realize that you are HORRIBLE at your job.
I called to see if my order is ready on Thanksgiving it wasn't they said they'd have it ready by the time I got there. When I got home the food was not great the ribs to not taste right and I realize that they weren't cooked all the way I actually had to put them back into the oven to get in so they were cooked and tasted the way they shed the pickles and flour mixed in with the meat it should have been in a separate container the pork was on the piece of toast and the toast was soaked and flat. The barbecue pork wasn't cooked all the way either I put them in the oven again with the ribs. Poor customer service I was told to place it online it wasn't even ready when the time came I called and the food wasn't kicked all the way very disappointing
Three of us went here for dinner. We had the burnt ends, brisket, and sausage. Everything was beyond dry. The brisket was like freeze dried boot leather. The burnt ends were nothing but fat covered in way too much BBQ sauce. The sausage was ok. Even the cornbread was drier than a bone. Spent well over $100 for the 3 of us. Will never go back here again. Service was impeccable is the only positive thing I can say. And the place was clean.
I have been going there for about 5 years, the first time I had ever been in a Famous Dave’s and I sat at the bar, the bar tender that was there Espy helped me out and man was she great! I’ve built a customer relationship with her and she knew exactly what I wanted. It’s hard to find someone that knows your likes and dislikes. Espy, was the main reason I would stop by at least once or twice a week! Lately I’ve been going in there for a few weeks now and I have not seen her so I asked a waitress about her and she told me that she is no longer with you guys. I’ll be honest with you guys… I will probably not be coming back anytime soon and if I do I sure hope Espy is there to take my order.
I came to famous Dave looking for Espi the waitress because she is always helpful in taking care of our order. My family and I deeply saddened because she no longer works there, my entire family looked forward to going to Famous Dave’s just to see her. We will probably not be coming back because I don’t want my kids to be looking for her and asking for her. Good luck to Espi on her endeavors.
