Free ice cream.lots of variety food by weight. Spices. Water. Liked this place a lot. To be able to select what you want and pick broth is nice. It's got that Mongolian BBQ feel to it.

All my friends know that I am the biggest Big Way fan there is. So when I got the email that this new location was open in Monterey Park, I literally could not contain my excitement. I told my group chats immediately. This location is both closer to me and is in the center of Atlantic Times Square. So you can literally watch a movie at the theaters, eat hot pot, and then still get boba afterwards at Heytea granted that it's not closed yet. As for the hot pot ingredients, it's just as fresh as the Rowland Heights location. The inside isn't as large as Rowland, but it's still more than adequate seating for a space like this. Great broth, great ingredients, great sauce bar. Oh, and speaking of boba, they literally serve boba milk tea and other drinks on the menu, so you can literally have it with your hot pot. The service is amazing as always. The staff is so caring too, they constantly replace your water pitcher if they see it's getting low and even give you extra napkins. It's little things like that that make every visit special. Special shout out to Paul and the other servers as well. They did excellent for a first day soft opening. I'm ashamed to say I will be coming here very often 😅😅 and will be recommending everybody to come here for their hot pot cravings! 😋😋😋

Excellent service. Constantly refilled my water and was super attentive. Got to meet the owner and he was super nice. You get to pick what you want from the food bar, weigh it, then pay. Kinda like yogurtland. The food was good although they kinda overcooked the meat and the miso base was a bit salty. Lots of people so food at the food bar is always fresh and being replenished.

Delicious pot based on weight and good variety for the sauce bar! I love the soft serve that they serve at the end. They are generous with it if you want two. (Trust me you’ll want two.)

What impressed me most was the incredible variety of ingredients and soup bases. The vegetable section has over a dozen types of fresh greens. For meatballs, there's everything from standard fish balls to cheese-filled ones and crab roe balls. The meat choices are plentiful too, with options like beef slices, lamb rolls, and pork belly. And they have four or five kinds of noodles, including instant noodles, glass noodles, udon, and sweet potato noodles. There's truly something to satisfy every taste. The soup bases are the real highlight! Besides the classic original bone broth and spicy broth, they also have unique options like tomato, cabbage, and miso broth. I ordered the tomato broth—it was perfectly tangy and sweet, very appetizing. My friend got the spicy broth and said it was aromatic, rich, and had a great lingering flavor. They also provide a free sauce bar with minced garlic, cilantro, chopped scallions, crushed peanuts, and more, so you can mix your own perfect dipping sauce. The biggest surprise? Free ice cream! After a steaming hot bowl of Malatang, grabbing a scoop of ice cream for that hot-cold contrast is pure bliss. It's vanilla flavored and surprisingly creamy—you'd never guess it was free. The prices are very reasonable too. You can easily get a filling meal for 20-30usd. The place is clean and tidy, and the staff are friendly. I've already recommended it to my friends and will definitely be coming back!

I went their Rowland location, and today I found their Monterey Park one is opening. Plenty of choices of meats and vegetables, select your own pot flavor, and so many refreshing drinks! Plus free ice cream! Well done!!!

I love how we get to choose what we want to put in our pots. The food was great and service was good. I like how they give out ice cream at the end of the meal😊

Our first try. Food was good! There are like 10 different soups that span most Asian/south east Aaian taste buds. $3.69/100g which is a little pricier than our usual Boiling Point, Yintang, and Jazz Cat but, late night (after 10pm) will get you a free drink (4 flavors to choose from) and they are yummy!

Free ice cream, free drink on happy hour, good sauce bar. Sign up for their loyalty program and they have free drinks every two weeks. Their broth is so good, my fav is sauerkraut sadly they no longer have it. But the kimchi dry pot is also good and spicy.

If you thought hot pot meant sharing one big, messy pot, get ready for a surprise! Big Way is way better because everyone gets their own hot pot. No more fighting your friends for the last noodle or trying to agree on the spice level. You get to be the boss of your own bubbling bowl! The best part, hands down, is the huge selection. Do you want beef, chicken, or every kind of seafood? They have so many choices, it feels like a fun challenge just picking your toppings. It takes a while to choose, but it's worth it! And seriously, the sauce bar is crazy—you can mix up any kind of dipping sauce you want. Just go easy on the garlic, unless you really love garlic. Go to Big Way when you're super hungry and ready for a good time. It’s a lot of food and a lot of fun. Five out of five stars! This is the only way to do hot pot.

Absolutely love this place! The ingredients are always fresh with plenty of options to choose from, and the broth is flavorful without being too heavy. The restaurant is clean and well-organized, and the staff are friendly and attentive. The free ice cream at the end is such a nice touch! Definitely one of my favorite spots for a comforting meal. Highly recommended!

Pretty cool concept of paying by weight. It’s $3.69 per 100grams which is 0.22lbs. You grab a bowl and tongs. Then start at the first station and work your way through. They have meat, seafood, veggies and noodles. When you pay, the bowl is weighed and you pick any of the 10 broth choices. You can also purchase drinks from the tea station menu. Your bowl goes to the chef, you can watch him through the glass window. He’s cooking up the ingredients in your broth of choice and then it gets delivered to your table. During their happy hour, you get 1 free drink from the 6 choices. I’m not sure what promo they had but we went at noon on LNY and got to pick a free drink from two of the premade choices. For the free drink, we got grape lemonade. For the hot pot broth, we got mushroom broth. We wanted tomato base but they sold out. Hard to believe when it was only one hour into opening. The mushroom broth was a bit salty. I wanted to dilute it with water but that would cool the entire pot. There’s a DIY sauce station. Afterwards, don’t forget to leave without getting your free ice cream. If you eat there, it’s a cone, we got it on the go and got popsicles. Overall, I really like this concept and we were able to share pots. If you dine here often, they have membership points to redeem prizes.

I had a great experience at Big Way Hot Pot in Monterey Park! I love that you can choose exactly what ingredients you want — everything was fresh and delicious. The pricing is very affordable, and the servers were friendly and helpful. I came on a Saturday around 3pm and there was no wait at all. Plus, free parking is a huge bonus. Highly recommend if you’re craving hot pot!

Build your own bowl concept. There was no sign indicating the price but they charge by weight. Food was prepared well. Sauce area was messy and needed to be cleaned. They don't mention it unless you ask, so ask for free ice cream cone for dessert.

Semi-buffet cook to order kind of hot pot 🍲 place. Very interesting and unique! They don’t have chicken meat or salmon on Friday night when we tried this place for the first time. We were told that “guess the pound game with free meal deal” was not available on Friday. Really?? The promotion flyer did not list the day or time the game would be available though.

Another day, another build your own hotpot joint. Pick your own ingredients + broth and the kitchen handles the cooking. There's no upcharges per se, you pay by the weight of your food. Not sure why the reviews are shy about showing the price, but its $3.7 for 100g, or about $16.72 per pound.

I tried the tom yum broth, they need to work on that one. But it wasnt bad. Happy hour came with a free tea/lemonade and a lil satisfying ice cream cone after you're done. Service was good, the employees are very attentive and nice, unlike most chinese restaurants. Gonna be my new dinner spot for when I wanna catch a movie after work. Looking forward to trying the other flavors they have.

We tried Big Way Hot Pot at the Atlantic Times Square last month, and it's located next to the AMC Theatre. The ambiance was modern, brightly lit, and clean. Just like any Malatang place, you first grab a pot and choose the ingredients you want. The price is $14.99 per pound for a DIY style hot pot, where you pay by weight. There is a minimum purchase of a half-pound. They have a lot of ingredients to choose from, including meat, seafood, vegetables, and noodles. (They even have abalone to choose from.) For the broth choices, they have a total of 10 choices, such as the signature spicy malatang broth, a slow-simmered collagen bone broth, Tom Yum (with coconut) broth, tomato broth, miso broth, and they also have mushroom broth for Vegan, etc. I picked the top #2 collagen bone broth. The broth was on a lighter side and could be more flavorful. My hubby prefers the pot to be super hot; however, the temperature was not that hot, though. We also ordered a few drinks, and the flavor was very light. They provided water on the table, and we got a free soft-serve ice cream cone at the end.

I come here almost weekly and I have been enjoying this place since it was opened. I liked the variety of food they have and then I really like the Sacha broth. The free ice cream after the meal is always a bonus and they always give out free drinks which is nice. Checking out can be a little bit slow here and it’s always a bottleneck because sometimes they only have one cashier working but the other good parts outweigh this so I always come back. But today I noticed my meal is more expensive than usually because I usually just get the same thing every week. I was so confused and then I realized they changed the price. I found it a bit sneaky that they were doing it the unit of 100g instead of lb so you can’t convert it quickly at the spot. And the price is next to the cashier so I didn’t even notice until I checked out. By the way, it’s roughly a 20% increase. It used to cost $13.99/lb which is not cheap by any means but I guess still reasonable and suddenly it became ~ $16.74/lb which is pretty expensive even for LA. And of course, finding out with a surprise it’s not a pleasant experience either. I think because of that I might have to reduce my visit here.

I don’t usually write bad reviews, but my family and I had such a disappointing experience here. We came in on a Sunday afternoon - it was a bit busy, and the host could have done a much better job managing check-ins and seating. He pointed us toward a table in the back, but when we got there, other customers were already seated there. Thankfully, another hostess helped clear things up and found us a new table, but the whole situation felt disorganized. This location recently opened, and they had a promotion where you guess the weight of your bowl for a discount. However, there was no sign or poster anywhere stating that it was only valid Monday through Thursday. That should’ve been our first red flag. When we finally got our food, the soup, drinks, and fixings were good, but the beef chuck was very dark, tough, and overcooked. I’ve been to two other Big Way locations (Richmond, British Colombia and Rowland Heights), and I know the beef isn’t supposed to be like that, so I was disappointed. I politely mentioned this to one of the staff, but she only said it was because of “how they cook it,” didn’t offer any solution, and even declined when we asked for another round of ice cream cones. For what we paid, it just wasn’t worth it. Hopefully, management takes this feedback seriously because the service and food quality need improvement. Seriously, go to the other location in Rowland Heights where the staff were so much more attentive and helpful and the food was so much more delicious.

Would not come back here, the service is terrible. None of the employees smiled or were friendly; it felt like none of them wanted to be there...maybe they're understaffed and/or overworked, who knows. It took so long for our food to come out... They didn't come out until we asked about it. We were all so, so hungry by the time our food came. We did not get refills for water...not even once. The cashier shoved the paper menu in our faces when we asked what type of broths they had. We also had to flag someone down to 1. Give us napkins and 2. Give us our complimentary ice cream. Overall a very unpleasant experience. Would not come back here. I'd rather go to Shabuya.

Pro- great variety of soup broths. They cook the food pretty fast. Con- Meat is brown, slow to restock, the broth tastes bland, the food isn’t too fresh, my friend found a strand of hair in his broth. We didn’t feel good after eating the food here. Slow lines. I’m a Malatang lover and have gone to 7 different Malatang brands in SoCal.

I give full marks for the service and atmosphere. However, I cannot accept finding a puddle of brown meat scum in my food I chose some vegetables and a lot of meat (50-60% of my meal). If you've ever stewed meat at home, you might understand what I'm talking about – a brown foam that floats to the surface. I understand that the staff aren't professional chefs, but the trainers need to understand how to cook food properly. Your training staff needs training on food preparation

Second time here and definitely the LAST TIME!!The worst service EVER and the whole restaurant smell SO SO BAD:)) . Nobody takes care of you at all!! So why u guys put the minimum tips selection when the customer s finish the order ? Fine we trust you guys and put the tips first before we got our food and the service. How come we just got NO SERVICE AT ALL!!! ????Thats how this place treats customers:).Also no one told me about the “guess the pounds” until I noticed that there was an interesting things that we might get some discount. Wow! Unbelievable! !The white dude server seems the only one who try to do his job. Funny thing is that he check the table next to me and ask the big party how’s everything but just walk away from me. LOL I sweat so bad and obviously need the NAPKINS and that white dude can’t be BLIND right?? No wonder such a bad review u guys having now but pretty sure one star is the best review for this place.
