I had the chicken teriyaki, spicy, and it was great. I also added some of the red chili they bring out and it kicked up the flavor and the heat! I have been back twice more and had the Mongolian beef and chow mein with beef, both are fantastic! If you haven’t stopped by and grabbed something to eat here, please do! Service is great, fast, and always very friendly!
I absolutely LOVE 💘 the Pineapple Fried Rice from here! I usually get it with Shrimp and Tofu (there are several protein options); it's my"go-to" dish. Picked up take-out my last visit there. It was quite busy and packed with folks dining-in, but it was a Saturday night and the weather in town has been lovely for the past week. Service is fast and friendly and the dining area has a great family friendly vibe. I have pix of the menu posted here. Enjoy!
We came late on a Sunday night for dinner. We were greeted with a friendly smile and hello. We ordered three dishes: the BBQ Beef Short Ribs which were very tender and flavorful; the Thai scallops which were cooked with chopped vegetables, and the Thai Pad See Ew noodles with large shrimp. The portions were large, and all the food was excellent. With the tip, the bill came to $60 which I thought was fine for the quality and portions. We took home enough food for another meal. We will return to this place again.
This is a little local place that's absolutely delicious! I have a plant-based diet, and they were more than willing to work with us to make sure we were satisfied. Would definitely go here again next time we're in town.
Open for takout during pandemic. Made a walk up order, which was ready in 10 minutes. Vegetables, tofu, pad see ew, and orange chicken all equally good quality, flavorful, fresh crisp veggies. Fast service and very nice staff. Wish I had a Thai restaurant near home this good!
Delicious food! Excellent service. This is some of the Best Thai food we have ever had. We are visiting and have been here 2x already. Taste and see it is good!
Literally the best Thai food we’ve ever had! We live in the L. A. area and visit the central coast at least once a year. Thai Elephant is the one restaurant we look forward to every time!
Ordered from here a few times. Red and green curry were good recommendations from the restaurant. Definitely can’t go wrong with their fried rice.
Curry Noodle Soup with pork on regular menu... HUGE Bowl 🍜 had to take some home. Delicious too!
Oh mi word, they had the best curry noodle soup! Plus so many gluten-free vegan options for me and some more traditional meat options for my meat lovin hubby!🐘
Thank you to everyone who works at Thai Elephant. The food is incredible, the service is delightful. I only had four dollars to tip, i wish i had more to giveat that moment. Ontop, i asked for super spicy and they delivered. Thank you Thai Elephant! :) such delicious food. Higjly recommended. Don't let these strange times keep you away :) They will make sure to get you fantastic food for you and yours.
Lovely Thai restaurant in the centre of Morro Bay. We ordered Tom Kha soup , satay chicken, and yellow curry and all we're excellent. The service was excellent, with the people very attentive. Loved it ! And we'll return.
Great cozy dinner tonight on a chilly rainy night! Our Room Kha Soup was perfect! We shared the large one before dinner. I ordered the drunken noodles which was very flavorful and tasty! My husband ordered the red curry and asked for Spicy! It was really good! We will come back next time we are in Morro Bay.
Wow! The best service I’ve seen in a long time. Homemade bubble tea in mason jars. Great vegetarian and gluten free options-mock duck! Beautiful delicious food with three levels of heat. A cute little place and amazing experience overall.
This is my favorite place to have lunch and I'm never disappointed. The food is fresh and delicious each and every time. The young waiter that works there is friendly and always greets me with a smile and even knows my favorite dish. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for authentic Thai cruisine that is second to none! Diana, office manager.
Great food and always busy. Reach on time so that you get a place to sit or order ahead for takeout.
Fantastic flavors. My family eats Thai food often, and we have a lot of experience so we think this restaurant is wonderful, the food is very delicious. When I eat here, my stomach knows it is getting full but my brain wants me to keep eating as if there is some addictive alkaloid in the meal (there are no alkaloids, I am saying "as if" there were). Today we had green curry with chicken and yellow curry with beef, both were amazing.
Pineapple Thai curry is very good, we liked it. Traditional Thai restaurant, with the most amazing flavors and service! Cozy small restaurant just near to most of the popular stay places and hotels. We ate 3 dishes here and all we're extraordinarily cooked.
This is a cozy little restaurant that serves excellent Thai food. I had a huge serving of Mongolian beef served with Jasmine rice that was hot and very delicious. Great prices and I had enough food for leftovers the next day. A great stop in Morro Bay for all types of Thai cuisine and Vegan friendly meals!
Authentic Thai food, delicious and beautifully presented. Wait staff was efficient and answered any questions. The spice was as ordered. My favorite dish here is the pineapple shrimp curry. It is served in 1/2 pineapple. Gluten free items clearly marked on menus.
Such a great spot - I never had Thai food where the sever points out what has fish sauce so diligently! As a vegan - this place is amazing! Highly recommend!!
This place serves awesome Thai dishes. All the items that we ordered was simply delicious. Even my kids enjoyed it a lot.
really tasty food! had the pad Thai and I’d say it’s one of the best ones I’ve ever had. the yellow curry was nice too. kind staff as well. will definitely be back whenever I’m in morro bay
Excellent Tai food I had the spicy chicken fried rice my wife had the rice noodle tai soup. Good sized portions. There are not many seats just a couple of sidewalk tables due to covid19 but the quality of the food is not lost in take out containers like can happen to some food places.
Ordered tom kha, tom yum, and spicy noodles, everything was great, quick service, maybe I would suggest to say, that you would prefer Not everything at a Same time
Good food and service! Ive had the chili basil lunch special which comes with soup for $8.95. It was good but Ive had their tom kha soup which is even better! The chicken skewers are really good too. You get the peanut sauce which is standard for thai restaurants but it is also covered in a tasty creamy sauce that Id never seen before at other restaurants. Try it out!
5 stars for everything. One of our favorite restaurants in the SLO area. Excellent food and service, not too expensive.
Excellent food and their ginger tea is so good. We ordered chicken pad thai and pineapple tofu and pumpkin curry with rice. Singha beer is yum! The service is amazing.
Our group of seven was delighted with our menu choices on Saturday 2/9. Fried rice, green curry, chicken satay, pad thai and more were gobbled up. The staff was very gracious and responsive. I loved the freshness of the vegetables in my dish. Absolutely perfect experience!
Excellent Thai food, friendly and efficient service. I had the Jungle Curry lunch special. The curry had just the right amount of spice (I like it medium), it was coconut creamy deliciousness! I think I could be addicted. I would definitely come back to try other dishes.
Decided to get takeout here last night as we were staying in town nearby and wasn't disappointed. Got the honey ribs, pad thai, and the small order of won ton soup. All were delicious. We'll definitely come back the next time we come back to Morro Bay.
As frequent visitors in Morro Bay (at least 2x a year the last 3 years), we've been looking for an opportunity to try this restaurant and finally snagged our chance! It's a busy restaurant, so you may have to wait for a seat unless you're ordering carryout. The food was delicious and worth the short wait, though. We ordered chicken satay, cheese puffs, red curry, chili basil, and pad-see-ew and everything was amazing. We will definitely be coming back!
Absolutely love this place, grew up in Morro Bay Area and always come back to it. The food has always been incredible and lives up to my expectations of some great Thai food. I can’t think of a time I came here and either had a bad experience or disliked the food. On top of the amazing dishes, their service is amazing with relatively quick orders, inclusive staff and lack of issues ordering. Love the area and location, just wish maybe one day the seating area is expanded to invite more people to enjoy Thai elephant. I recommend either the green curry or of course some good chicken pad Thai.
Absolutely love the pad Thai here. Staff is warm and friendly and service is great. This is a popular family run business that clearly attracts a lot of local customers (and for good reason!) The other reviewers who made a bunch of mean spirited jabs about the ambiance and decor of this restaurant should go eat at a PF Chang's or something. Good Asian restaurants don't break the bank on furnishings, they put most of their effort into the food! In my opinion, Elephant punches above its weight class and would put a lot of subpar restaurants in the Bay Area out of business. A favorite local haunt for my family and I.
Thai Elephant had a super chill atmosphere. The food was fantastic and the servers were so sweet! I got the pork cashew nut with rice and it was Amazing!!!! My husband got the pineapple shrimp fried rice and he definitely loved his! We will definitely be back!! If your looking for a very chill vibe and great food this is the spot!!!
The food is great, prices are reasonable and the service is excellent. The restaurant is small but the food and service make up for it. Will definitely stop by next time we are in the Morro Bay or San Luis Obispo area.
Amazingly fast service. Delicious food, generous portions. Everything I tried was top notch. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Thanks for a great dinner!
Yummy. So good I came back the second day in a row. The place was full mid week and fairly early with locals. With also a fair amount of take out going on. I eat Thai frequently and this was up there. Not a fancy place, but, friendly, quick and clean. Family friendly I'd like to add.
Three years in, this is still my favorite place to eat in SLO. Their curry noodle soup is my go-to but their fried rice is also amazing, and the portions are so good for the price! Everyone on staff is always incredibly nice, even when they're busy.
We've been ordering our Thai food here for a few years. Everything is delicious.
Very good food. Fresh ingredients and cooked perfectly. Also great gluten free options on just about everything.
Tasty food and generous portions. Highly recommend.
Our go-to Thai! Always holds a special place in our hearts. Everything we order is delicious and consistent! Service is like no other. Very kind and quick!
When I walked into this restaurant, it was packed! I knew it had to be good based on the crowd, and I was right. Great service, delicious food, and fantastic prices! I definitely recommend it. The Jungle Curry was delicious and came in a good portion, and the Pad Thai was also very good. There is plenty of 2-hour free street parking, and after 6 pm, you can park for as long as you want.
What a delicious Thai food we had yesterday night. We were traveling on Highway 1 and decided to have a night stay in Morro Bay. After a full day of travel we all were hungry and decided to find a Thai Restaurant for dinner. The food was great, service was fast and portion size was perfect. We enjoyed our dinner.
We visited this restaurant twice during our stay. Yes! The food tasted great. They have enough vegetarian options with three spice levels. The staff are friendly. Their service is faster. The appetizers, soups and entrees were all good including the dessert. The fried spring rolls, drunken noodles, pad Thai noodles, Tom kah soup, saki beverage were something we tried and felt completely satisfied. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone with good appetite. Enjoy!
You know it's authentic because of the broken English on their menu and signs :). Enjoyed the pad Thai, wonton soup, and yellow curry. Service was quick and friendly and the food was excellent. We came in hungry and left very full after sharing three dishes between the three of us. Portions are great and the taste is better. Will definitely stop in next time we are in town
Huge portions and delicious freshly prepared Thai food. They make Vegan and Vegetarian options too. Must visit if craving some delicious Thai food. Gracious staff and very helpful too. She packed us paper bowls and spoons etc too.
I absolutely love Thai food and I think this is one of the top two places I’ve ever eaten. My now husband introduced me to Thai 20 years ago when we were passing through Salt Lake City. It was so amazing I’ve been chasing something as good since. That is the reason I can’t say which is better. Did I build them up for the last 20 years? This is the only place I have ever questioned which is first place. So I absolutely would recommend that you eat at this restaurant. We had Tom Kai soup. I’ve never had it with seafood so I figured this would be the place to do that and it didn’t disappoint. The pad Thai was probably the best I’ve ever had. Atmosphere is simple but nice. Not in the high traffic area but worth the effort!
Awesome delicious and authentic food at reasonable prices. It took about 15 minutes to serve our food and it was perfectly at the right temperature. The customer service level was also excellent. Everyone whose into Thai food should try this place at least once. You'll immediately see the difference.
The service was fast and kind. We sat for dinner, as we sat the waitress gave us ice cold water with lemon. We ordered rice teriyaki and noodles, the food came out fast and very good, fresh ingredients and large portions.

Hands down the best Thai food in SLO County! Never disappoints. The dishes are absolutely delicious. The friendly staff make for an enjoyable experience. They cater to vegans, just let them know!
We come here about every time we are in town visiting. Very fresh with a variety of different Thai options. The dinning area is clean and service is fast.
Today was my first time actually going in to the restaurant to eat - I normally order delivery. It was an excellent experience making me rethink ordering next time. The restaurant is very clean, cute decor and quaint and the servers were the best! They were both very friendly and helpful. The food is always top notch! I highly recommend the Curry Fried Rice and the Pineapple Fried Rice.
We arrived before closing. Was greeted by a friendly waitress and she took our order. Used the restroom while we waited. Men's restroom was spotless and my wife confirmed that the women's restroom was the same. We ordered: Papaya salad..Refreshing and delicious! Tom Kha Shrimp...Heavenly! Pad See Ew Beef...Amazing! We ordered a total of 5 dishes and all of them were made with so much love that you could taste it! Staff whipped out our orders fast and were very friendly. Sorry I forgot to take photos, we couldn't stop ourselves once we started.
Love this cozy Thai Restaurant in the heart of Morro Bay. For vegans and vegetarians, I highly recommend the Drunken Noodles with tofu. Meat eaters have options of beef, pork and chicken. Fresh ingredients and made to order spice level for your taste buds. Quick service and generous portion size for the cost 💸. You won't be disappointed if you give this restaurant a try on the boulevard!
My family and I eat here fairly regularly, and every time it is among the best Thai we’ve had. The Pad See Ew and Tom Yum Kun are perfect. Service is great too. We love this place!

Our Los Osos That Food options were closed, so we branched out and headed to Morro Bay. Good food. Soup, curry and noodle dish were all tasty. Portions were just about right. A little too small for a third meal of leftovers and a little too big for dinner. Service and prices were good.
I was in Morro Bay with my family and we seek out veg-friendly food, so Thai Elephant fit that bill. We also wanted to eat outside as much as possible and there are a few tables in front, so we were good to go. Parking was easy, some people ate indoors while others waited for their food to go, all on this funky street with the veg Shine Cafe, thrift stores, a music store, and other cool places. The food was good, the service was kind, almost everything can be made veg, and the evening went very well.
It's a great choice for Morro Bay if you're looking for something more than burgers or Mexican. Don't get your hopes up on it being overly tasty. Personally, I found it bland but some people prefer Indian fusion without spices?
Great dinner, loved the eggplant (too much sause but still tastes good) and the papaya salad. We also ordered the red curry soup, it's the first time we arrive to a Thai restaurant which doesn't have Panang curry, but still was good. The restaurant itself is small and you can hear every conversation near you.. When we left the restaurant around 19:30-20:00 they were a few homeless people very near, it was less pleasant.
Great Thai food served in a beautiful dining room with carved wooden panels and statues. They offer tasty dinner specials and assorted delicious appetizers. Their wonton soup contains ground chicken instead of pork which was super tasty.
Small but popular Thai restaurant in Morro Bay. The food was fresh and came quickly. Service was good.
I've had great food here a couple times. Excellent curries and everything tasted fresh. Service couldn't be better. Good sized menu with a great selection. Great thai tea. Oh and the fried rice is amazing!
I really enjoyed my drunken noodles with shrimp, although I thought they were a bit too sweet and the portion was kind of small for the price. The service I received here was very good. The dining room is small and I imagine on a busy day you will have to wait to get seated here, but you will probably be glad you waited.
Very nice food and the staff is very kind, pricing is okay. The only thing I'd like would be to have more protein on the curry, I ordered pork and it had very few chunks. Wonton soup was delicious and well served! More than enough for one person.
Great food, good drinks. The green curry was so tasty, the drunken noodles were delicious, the beef salad had a ton of actual salad, and the appetizers were great. Beer and wine selection was adequate. Wait staff was a bit disorganized but very kind. Definitely a must if you're in the area and want some tasty Thai!
No elephants were harmed in the making of this delicious food. We had the fresh rolls for starters they were some of the best I've had. Fresh herbs and the peanut sauce had just enough kick to let you know it wasn't sweet. For our main dishes we had the yellow curry with tofu and the tofu Pad Thai. The yellow curry errored on the sweet side, for my liking I wanted more curry. The Pad Thai was tangy, not as sweet as the curry. I was very delicious with fresh green onions and just the right amount of egg. The portion size was perfect for sharing. The pricing is on par and worth it. The service was excellent, fast and friendly. I would definitely eat here again and explore other menu options.
Ordered : Cashew nut chicken - 4/5 Spicy fried rice tofu + veggies - 4/5 Will order again : 4/5 , most definitely if we are in the area. Food is really good, tasty, has great portions for a very reasonable price. Chef is very accommodating with the dietary restrictions and still ending up with flavorful dishes. Would rate the service as average, hence knocking down 1 star, but definitely my favorite thai place in Morro Bay.
The location is good in downtown morro bay. Staff are always accommodating and quick to serve. The food, overall is good. I do have issue with asking for medium or high spice, but getting mild/little spice on multiple occasions. They otherwise are consistent on other areas.
Overall I liked the place. Good food, really good friendly quick service. Pineapple fried rice was really good. The curries could have been a bit thicker but still good. Tasty food. Good place to take family. Parking can be a bit difficult on the street. There is a parking lot nearby but be careful and watch for signs. In a place that’s dominated by seafood restaurants, this was a good find.
Very good soup and veggies tofu but beef in the green curry was hard
They had good food. I enjoyed the curry and drunken noodles really well. The fried spring rolls was not very impressive. It could use more time on the fryer on higher temp. I love the decors and the ambience. Usually, visitors to Morro Bay will choose fish n chips an restaurants by the water but this Thai restaurant was a better choice for us that night since we wanted a break from seafoods. Service was quick and servers were attentive.
Our go-to for Pad Thai here locally. Have also enjoyed the Mongolian Beef and fried egg rolls. We always do take-out.
We enjoyed a lovely lunch with friends. I had the chicken pad Thai lunch special which was very.good and a lot of food. The soup was yummy. My husband had teriyaki chicken bowl and loved it. Very inexpensive and our waitress was good.

Great food... Fantastic flavours... Tom yum and Tom Kha soups lovely... Thai green and pineapple curry both great... very nice Returned in June 2025 and a bit underwelmed... 3rd visit here over 3 years and whilst spring rolls and beef Thai were great the, allegedly large, Tom Khair mixed seafood soup was seriously lacking in seafood... A couple of pieces of fish and squid and a king prawn was it!!!! Very disappointed
Great Thai food. The waitress was not Thai style though, mostly worried about us two moving from a windy cold table for two to a better four person table. “If people comes you have to move”, not Thai manner I would say. The restaurant did not fill up, lucky us ;)
Visited the area for a long weekend and had dinner here our first night. Service was great, enjoyable atmosphere, and easy to get vegan/vegetarian options. We got tofu pad thai, tofu yellow curry, and tofu fresh rolls. Fresh rolls were great, loved the peanut sauce. Yellow curry was more like soup consistency, we were expecting it to be thicker like we’re used to at other Thai restaurants. Pad thai was decent, though certainly not the best we’ve ever had. Overall, the dinner was alright, but we would probably try a different thai place before going back.
Great lunch specials. Not a place I would take a guest due to decor and interior.
Location; Good, Parking; Street, Service; Good, Price for food received; okay. Overall; A first time try and it was worth a stop. The place seemed busy when we entered. We noticed the meals were family style so a plate can feed 3 people at minimum. With a taste for seafood we ordered the Pad Thai Noodle with seafood and combination rice also with shrimp as part of the meal. The disappointment for both plates was the lack of shrimp and for the Pad Thai, scallops. We hope this was a mistake but will look other at other places before we land here again. The taste was good but it was minimal on the best items.

I haven't seen more rude people in my life. I'm waiting with my pregnant wife to be seated, there are tables available and a line start to form for people to be seated, yet no one cares from the staff to help. After 10 min I tell them there's a line of people waiting to be seated so please have someone help, the rude lady tells me "wait and you will be seated". After additional 5 minutes no one shows up and we left. I'd understand if the place is busy, but it wasn't. They are simply lazy and don't want to do their job.
Don't make a to go order for Tom Yum soup unless you want hot and sour zucchini, cabbage, broccoli, onion, tomatoe soup....cause that's what I just got instead of the traditional ingredients. I never complain about my food and have major sympathy and understanding for food service workers and how hard it is to keep a restaurant operating and open during these trying times. I called to let them know and thought maybe I'd get a "we'll make this right somehow" comment and all I got was "I'm sorry that's too bad!" Super sad
What a disappointment! This place is such a hole. First, the ambience is anything but authentic; a dumpy and filthy “dining room” playing R&B music instead of music that captures a Thai experience. The pot stickers were low-grade FROZEN product instead of fresh made. The pad Thai was a disgusting plate of over-cooked and gelatinous noodles with the bean sprouts—and all other ingredients—just cooked in at a high temperature. Anyone knows that proper pad Thai should have numerous FRESH ingredients on top, but this place is too lazy and uses substandard ingredients to do that. My wife had curry that had RAW/HARD potatoes and carrots, yet the low-grade chicken was tough as leather! Don’t go to this place! A complete RIP-OFF!
