Best place to go for breakfast. Friendly waitresses, food was fast to the table and delicious, we have been come to Hungry Fisherman for several years,and will continue.

Incredible service and great food. I got biscuits and gravy, wife got mexican eggs, and daughter got california eggs. We all loved our food. We never ran out of drinks because they were constantly checking on us. I would recommend this place for breakfast. It is a little pricey but I think it's fair.

Great experience. Staff was very friendly. Restaurant is family friendly. It's just off the normal beach path so there was plenty of parking available. They have breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu available all day as well. Great selection of pies. We had blueberry creme and chocolate creme. Absolutely would recommend.

The Hungry Fisherman has been a favorite of mine for many years. It has a great menu with good home style cooking. It's my go to place when I'm not looking for fancy just good cooked food with a family style atmosphere.

I had one of the Rubin Sandwiches ever. The meat was sliced very thick the way I like. Also we got a philly cheese steak, it was also fantastic! The service was very polite.

Great diner style restaurant, with a huge menu selection and absolutely enormous portions. I had a taco salad, which was very good, my partner had a turkey club with great curly fries. The zucchini starter is also recommended. Leave room for a slice of their excellent pie... Fast and friendly service too. We will be back!

We had a great experience bringing a large party here for our son’s high school graduation celebration. The person who took my original reservation was very sweet, and everyone I spoke to when I had to keep calling back to add people last minute was very accommodating. We ended up with 13 people, who all found something they really enjoyed on the menu. All the food seemed very fresh, looked great, and the portions were large. A nice, reasonably priced, bottle of wine & yummy pies & cakes that looked house made added to the fun! The staff was very kind, and even brought out a dessert with a birthday candle, so we could sing to our guest who turned 16 that day. Our guests were also remarking on how they enjoyed the decor of the restaurant, from the seaside decorations to the video screens running current shows. Overall, I’m super happy we chose this great local spot for our family gathering.

We stumbled upon this eatery because of the very short walk from our hotel. Not ocean front but the price is right with family friendly seating. Friendly service. American & Mexican menu items. You'll get a delicious plate of plenty. Mouthwatering Carnitas plate has been my go to. He's happy with his flaky Fish n Chips w/Beers. I never have room for a slice of homemade pie. Can't go wrong with breakfast menu & sharing a piece of pie w/coffee with your LOVE.

The food is consistently delicious! And the service has always been top notch! It’s a nice casual environment where everyone is welcome - both locals and visitors alike. Plus, the prices are very good, and you get a lot of quality food for your dollar (especially compared to the pricier places a block or two away on the Embarcadero) They have yummy daily specials, including local seafood, but their regular menu is full of amazingly varied and good food …everything from classic diner food, including my favorite Philly Cheesesteak, to really good homemade Mexican dishes (the carnitas are amazing). It’s really a hidden gem in morro bay — if you haven’t tried it, give it a try — you won’t regret it

The food is truly amazing. Coming from someone who lives out of state. It's worth it to eat here. I have had the fish and chips, and they are really amazing. I also had the traditional hamburger and fries. Again, if you're in CA and in the Morro Bay area, please go check them out.

I went for breakfast here during my first trip to Morro bay. Every time I go out of town, I like to try local restaurants, not the chain restaurants. I had the Veggie scramble and hash browns. It was delicious.

We were looking for clam chowder in the morning , and happened to come across this place in morro bay. Let me tell you I am glad we did. The clam chowder was amazing . We end up having breakfast there instead. The staff is very friendly . The food was really great too. There's something about bacon along the coast that just blows my mind. The decor inside is very nice too.

A local family favorite!! Seasoned Curly Fries need I say more?! Friendly fast service! Breakfast, lunch and dinner can’t go wrong!! Like a classic diner they have traditional American breakfast, delicious burgers and sandwiches, Fresh seafood out the fryer, and bomb Mexican dishes!! Kids love the chicken strips and curly fries. Just because it’s not on the water doesn’t mean anything don’t sleep on this place!

We eat here often. We are locals. The staff are always friendly. When my mother passed we stopped going. When we were finally ready to return they still remembered our favorites. The food and service are wonderful. Don't wait for a holiday or special occasion go today you will see what I'm talking about.

Great hospitality their deserts are to-die-for had the most delicious coconut cream pie, They gave you a full plate of fries when you order any type of Sandwich dish mine was a cheese bacon burger, not too bad although I probably would have liked the hamburger to be a little bit bigger than the bun they gave you a lot of bread. But I definitely want to try the tuna melt those are always my favorite I'll be back!!

We had a yummy breakfast at the Hungery Fisherman! Those chefs in the kitchen really know how to make an great meal. We had a chili verde omelet with hasbrowns! It was so flavorful! Came here on Saint Patrick's day because an Irish neighbor told me the corned beef and cabbage platter was delicious. I had to get it to go because I gotten there about 20 min before they closed. I was greeted immediately and they took my order. I took my food to Morro Rock to eat and IT WAS DELICIOUS!!!! It came with a creamy horseradish that was also AMAZING.

I have been eating here since I was a little girl, like 4 years old, I am now 29 and still my absolute favorite place to eat of all time. Never once have I had a bad experience and even after the remodel my grandmother says the biscuits and gravy is still great! And my personal choice is the clam chowder, just finish eating it and still just as great as I have always remembered! Edit: I was visiting my grandparents over the weekend and OF COURSE had to eat here, but needed to share a photo of my amazingly delicious burrito I can't ever finish cuz its HUGE. Do not sleep on this restaurant, try other foods not just fish and chips. These are my favorites 1. Clam Chowder 2. Grande Burrito Plate - Pork meat 3. Machaca Scramble 4. Chocolate chip waffles 5. Pretty noisy place. Much quieter in October.:) Excellent service, especially being as busy as it was. Food was very tasty. An unusual take on Chicken Fried Steak. It is pounded very thin and large, to cover most of the plate. It is easily cut with a fork, as it should be. Over easy eggs were cooked perfectly. Toast is included, but you have to request it. Coffee was kept topped up. (: Generous portions I couldn't help finishing.

Truly one of my favorite breakfasts, The Hungry Fisherman Benedict. It's rich in flavor & includes fresh crab meat w/ a side of crispy hash browns. A very genius combination, thank you for blessing my taste buds!! Will be back

We had a group of 10 for breakfast and they took care of us so well. The biscuits and gravy were awesome.

We ate here as a large group. I had clam chowder with the backbay chicken sandwich. My husband had the sandpiper sandwich with curly fries and cream of mushroom soup which was soup of the day. The mushroom soup was very tasty, thick and creamy. The clam chowder was very thick, creamy and had quite alot of chunks of clam in it. The chicken in the backbay sandwich was very tasty and the green Chile and bread made the sandwich so very good. The turkey and bacon in the sandpiper was so good. The waitress did very well with our 11 person group. She was pleasant and handled everything perfectly.

Had the Popeyes scramble, it was absolutely delicious! The veggies were fresh and crunchy, the potatoes were seasoned perfectly, the avocado was fresh and tasty. The biscuits, although a little rubbery, were tasty as well. Wish we would’ve started eating here years ago!

My husband and I have been here before but it had been some time since our last visit. Why? I have no idea! The food here was absolutely fantastic. It's pretty difficult to find a chicken fried steak made in the restaurant these days and I always ask before I order, "Is the chicken fried steak made in house?" The waitress assured me it was and boy, it did not disappoint. All the food was excellent. It says on the menu that you have to ask for toast if you want it to accompany your meal. Apparently, my husband missed that. Needless to say, I shared mine with him. There was no way I could finish my meal and we ended up taking food to go. We are looking forward to our next visit to Morro Bay and I know where we'll be having breakfast. The Hungry Fisherman is probably the best breakfast you'll find in town.

Lovely restaurant in Morro Bay. The menu is huge from tradition American breakfast options to Mexican cuisine and pasta. Went there for lunch and picked a salmon salad and chicken Alfredo pasta. Recommend to have a good time and enjoy good meal in Morro Bay. The restaurant is well located and staff was nice.

Nice paintings on the wall and the employees are friendly. If you travel between Los Angeles and San Francisco go here to eat. We came here from Germany and we would come here again haha.

What a wonderful friendly local business in Morro Bay, CA! The Hungry Fisherman has been around for many years serving up both fresh seafood and other dinner items such as burgers and steaks. Our visit came in the morning so a delicious breakfast was in order. The waiter was very nice and made sure to keep our coffee mugs as full as we liked. I got a combo plate with pancakes which really hit the spot. Sometimes one's belly just calls for the sweet concrete that is a proper flapjack. I really enjoyed the 1970's colored glass windows along the ceiling too. They just don't make glass like that any more. There is plenty of parking available so be sure to stop in the next time you are in town.

This family-owned, family style restaurant is a Morro Bay Institution and serves yummy food at a decent price. nothing particularly fancy but without a doubt satisfying. the service is personal and quite friendly. I am sure they are able to keep the cost down due to the location not being on the Embarcadero but I am fine with that because there is ample parking and prices that are appealing to the locals and any lucky tourists who happened to stumble across this place. the hours are quite accommodating as well and it's a great way to start off your day exploring Morro Bay or the Central Coast. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I've gone twice now and liked it each time. The food is pretty good and service has been friendly and attentive. I had a soft spot for the decor. I think it's cute in that grizzled, nautical way. Parking can be a pain but there is a lot of space to park around the place, too.

Portion of french fries was very small. Bisque was very good. Good portion of fish with the fish and chips.

This was our 2nd time ordering from here. We had a great experience the 1st time so came back again. I ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes gravy and seasonal vegetables. My meal also came with a house salad that I ordered with ranch dressing. My hubby ordered the fish and chips. We loved our food for the most part. The only thing about my food was that they automatically put marinated beets on my salad. 😳 I do not like beets and especially didn't want them on my salad. It was so fun picking out all the pieces before I soothed my growling belly. But we did a take out order so.. The ranch was good and we liked everything for the most part except that they didn't give us any utensils.😳😳 How am I supposed to eat a chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy with no utensils?? Luckily we were staying at a hotel with metal kitchen utensils. 🙏🏽 Other than those couple things we had a great experience and will be back. The customer service was great and the dining room was full. They must be doing something right.😊 They also sell baked desserts that looked delicious. I need to try one next time!!

This place was good. Very typical "small town" diner. Very ordinary fare and priced fairly as well, especially for the area. Our server was attentive and nice.

Very good diner with seafood menu. Got the battered onion rings, crispy and not greasy. Also had shrimp scampi and grilled rock cod, both prepared well, no fancy sauces so you can taste the seafood. Parking lot was easy and service was great.

Good decor and excellent service. The prices are great and big portions for your money. Fed a family of 5 for 100 before tip. Food was good. Not the best ever but no complaints. Great spot away from the crowds with excellent parking. The chowder bread bowl is a winner.

We were heading home from SLO after a family wedding. Walked the beach then searched for a breakfast spot. Enjoyed it - busy on Sunday. We would stop there again. Only wish was for outdoor seating so our dog could join us. 🪴😎 I particularly loved my Egg California. Happy to have delicious and generous avocados and fresh tomatoes. My hollandaise sauce was very good, not heavy.

This place is great! The menu is varied, and the prices are better than along the waterfront. Service as friendly and the food came out quickly. I only have it 4 stars because I only ate there once. Also, be advised that google maps took us down an ally that dead-ends. The restaurant is on Beach St between Main and Monterey.

At the time that I went it was nice and quiet and the servers were very friendly. The food wasn’t bad but it also wasn’t five star. This place is a nice little place to go for coffee, breakfast and some pie. I noticed that the crowd was local and a bit older than myself which was just fine for me. I sat and read the paper and ate fish and chips and next time try some breakfast. I spent around $28 with tip for myself. I would definitely go here again.

Had breakfast and the over medium eggs were perfect. Chicken-fried Steak could have used a bit more seasoning for my taste but otherwise we had a good meal. The service was awesome and the inside is clean and has a great vibe and decor. You can’t tell from the outside how cool it looks on the inside. The even have one of those revolving pie cases that had delicious looking pies. Will have to go back for pie and coffee.

My husband and I got the eggs benedict. His was California style. The only real problem I had was it was on buns and not English muffins. It did not taste horrible. It just wasn't what is expected with eggs benedict. The coffee was okay.

The menu was a mix of traditional American food, seafood, and Mexican. My burrito was plentiful and tasty. My wife's fish and chips could have used more seasoning.

We stopped here to eat when getting into town late. The place is homey and the portions large. We are out for and had leftovers. The waitress was nice. Service pretty quick. The bathroom was amusing, kinda sochi-style. Overall, a good experience and they fed us well.

My family and I were traveling from out of town, seeing the positive reviews we had very high expectations for this restaurant. All of the food was sub-par at best but the worst of all was a pan fried steak my mother had received. It had a horrible fish taste and was not cooked thoroughly, though the service was excellent, it didn’t make up for the disappointing meal after a long day of traveling. The server was very compassionate and replaced the meal right away but at the end we were charged full price for it regardless. Traditionally when a meal is made incorrectly, the restaurant comps the meal, while I understand that is not the case at all establishments I was hoping they would attempt to save their good name. The perks of this place were the servers and the dessert we had received… outside of that, I would save your money.

My husband and I recently came down to Morro Bay to celebrate our anniversary like we always do. We usually eat somewhere near the embarcadero but this time we decided to try something new. We both got severely sick after finishing our food and we spent the next few hours taking turns vomiting in the hotel bathroom. Our whole trip was basically us laying in the hotel feeling like we’re on the verge of death. Definitely wouldn’t recommend eating here if you want peace in your life.

Went on a very bad day or something.. Sunday morning walked into some very unfriendly faces, we were starving so we stayed.. One lady just pointed and said there's a table there in the middle. No hi, good morning. To top it off , table and chairs were sticky. And how dare us for asking for a wipe down. The worker was annoyed. Every single worker looked pissed. My waffle was cold and I didn't want to wait for another one or have them spit in it so I didn't send it back. Very disappointed for the over all, very sucky experience.
