One of the best meals I've ever had in my entire life. The staff was incredible, friendly and informative. The omakase was absolutely out of this world and every single plate was delicious. The drinks were equally as enjoyable with an extensive Sake menu to indulge in. I would recommend this restaurant for any special occasion because while incredible it is a pricier option

Easily in the top 2 omakase experiences of my life (including the time I had it in Japan proper). It gets right what a lot of places get wrong: you feel amazing and delighted the entire experience, even after you finish the full course. Couldn't recommend it more. I don't want to spoil anything - just come experience it!! (And get the Yuzu Sake, especially if you're an alcohol pleb like me. What a great cleanser and so approachable, basically juice 😂)

Great omakase experience for a reasonable price ($135). The kanpachi was pretty perfect and the sawara was so flavorful. The seared chu toro was perfect and not overly cooked like some other places (they only sear one end of it briefly). They have some creative takes on nigiri, like egg yolk on the akami tuna. If you venture into the à la carte menu, they have a lot of awesome fishes rarely found in other places, like nodoguro (black throat sea perch), which has a most exquisite multidimensional taste that melts into a buttery finish. The chefs are great to talk to and the server was very attentive and thoughtful too.

Just had mt favorite sushi meal in a while. I loved everything. they have a japanese lemon zester that really is a game changer. there was a slight hiccup with our order but it was immediately remediated and we just loved every single piece of sushi. we will definitely be back. this is now my favorite sushi. the hojicha tea was great too. suggestion: - when finishing the sushi course, it would be good to remind us what we just had (with a list?) also you can ask what we liked the most

Highly recommend! My boyfriend surprised me with my first omakase experience for my birthday and it was amazing. We went there with two of our friends who do omakase a good amount and they enjoyed it as well! Each item on the tasting menu is so satisfying, I also opted for their uni sampler from 3 different regions of Japan. They ended the night with some fruity flavored sake, on the house, that tasted like a lychee martini in a way.

The sign at the front door is so small that I am sure you will miss this gem if you don’t look carefully … if you pass the coin laundry and enter into Safeway, you past it already. Excellent services and fish/seafood are very, very good. Compared to other Omakase in the Bay Area, they are cheaper (all in relative $$ - LOL). Apart from the really good sushi selections, I really like the Uni (sea urchin) samplers (not part of the Omakase, sorry). Yum yum…

We love omakase and this place provides an amazing experience with one of the best quality fishes we tried in the Bay Area. Finally there’s no need to drive all the way to SF for this level of sushi 🍣

Ate here solo at the bar and did a La carte. The food and service were both fantastic. I can’t wait to come back and try the counter menu/omakase.

The omakase courses are excellent, All foods are refined. This restaurant made our anniversary wonderful!

The place is expensive but TASTEY! The menu is mostly nigiri. I tried the nodoguro and hon maguro, it was soft, salty, sweet, fresh, and interesting. The sushi rice is amazing. The miso soup was in a cute bowl with cute mushrooms too. I will have to come again to explore more of the menu.

So so good!! Great service and even better food. I loved the cherry blossom green tea and highly recommend it to go with the omakase! The plates were absolutely stunning, and the seafood was so fresh with incredible flavor!! I’ve also been to Sasa in SF Japantown, and I like this place better :)

Boutique Japanese restaurant serving A La Carte and Omakase. The food quality here is top notch. The first is tender, the tempura is crispy and crispy and fluffy. Definitely the best tempura that I ever have so far. The presentation of the food is amazing and beautiful, along with the decor. The place is small, they are serving all the guests with the same dish at the same time, so it might take some time for the dishes to come. Please expect a slightly longer than normal dinner. Other than the food, they have a good selection of sake. The service is top notch of course. The average price is about 150 per person. Please make reservations.

The omakase is beautifully presented, and the freshness of the ingredients is to be noted. Several Ala-cart options were added to the omakase. It is not a typical sushi place that serves your usual tuna and salmon only. There is many fish and seafood option I have never seen before. I would say their sake selections make it hard to choose what to get. In the end, I opted for two different sake in a glass format to adequately paired with the meal. The waitress is knowledgeable about the sake list on what pairs well. Not a place to be missed if you want a proper omakase.

Great omakase for a good price. Chefs are super friendly and welcoming. We were celebrating anniversary and were pleasantly surprised to see a card they left at our table. 10/10 would come back again!

Sushi Jin has been on my list for a long time, so I was excited to finally try the omakase. The quality of everything was solid. The presentation was great and they were efficient. It's always worth it to get sake or a bottle of alcohol during omakase to soak in the experience and slow the time down. Service was stellar as well and ambiance was just right. Everything was tasty, but if I had to pick standouts, it would be the toro, silk tofu and uni dishes. There is also an extensive menu to pick from, with other items like tempura or an uni sampler. I think it's interesting to have another extensive menu like this, since the omakase would usually stand on its own, but it makes sense, so people can order more and become full. They can do a birthday or celebratory treat at the end, so I recommend coming here for a special day.

E

Had the 14-course omakase and loved every bit of it! We also tried 5 kinds of uni and ended with a delicious sake crème brûlée. Great place to celebrate something special!

W

Definitely try the omakase and add some a la carte dishes too. If you’re starving, the omakase dishes are petite, so adding 2-3 dishes for two people is perfect. We had the kettle rice crab TWICE because it was so wicked good. The uni ikura on rice is delicious and a perfect portion as well. We were blown away by the clam nigiri. Definitely high quality and very very satisfied.

We had a wonderful omakase experience, sitting at the bar. The food was delicious. Chef Jin and his staff were warm and friendly. The omakase menu on the evening we went, there were 3 early courses, 10 pieces of Nigiri, and a finishing course. We felt full and it was a lot of fun! Would recommend. Reservations required.

First time having omakase and I was blown away by sushi Jin. It is the sister restaurant of Hinata in SF. Right from the start I was greeted by super friendly staff and sushi chefs. Service was excellent with constant checks by the staff to make sure everything was ok. The sushi chef explained what each item was before we ate and everything was so delicious and tasty. I was very full and satisfied after this experience and highly recommend it to anyone who loves sushi and nigiri. Make sure you make a reservation on Yelp! I will certainly be back and it is well worth the money.

Had an amazing experience at this omakase place in Mountain View. The servers and chefs are super welcoming when you walk in! If you here for a celebration or treating yourself to a nice meal, you need to get the omakase tasting menu! The fish was so fresh and melts in your mouth!!! I really like their chawanmushi (steam egg with seafood) , it was so light and flavorful. I recommend this spot for Omakase! :)

Came here to celebrate my birthday and enjoyed the omakase menu($155 per person) with my partner. We added 2 sake flights ($55/$75) and 1 uni flight ($65). It is tucked in the corner of a shopping center which is a little different, but as soon as you walk through the door and are greeted by the host and chefs you totally forget where you are. The place is very small and intimate with a traditional feel. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable of the offerings and the fliw of dishes was at a good pace. The quality and variety of the fish was impeccable and the seasoning was on point, no need for extra soy sauce or wasabi. The sake flights were a great way to try many different high end sake without committing to a whole bottle. The uni flight was a must for any uni lover and featured 2 different options from Hokkaido 1 from Santa Barbara, and 1 from British Colombia. Overall it was a great value with our whole check being about the same cist as 2 omakase menus alone at other near by options

Amazing dining experience at this low-key Japanese restaurant in Mountain View. Located next to a busy Safeway, you can easily walk by and miss the entrance as they only have a small sign. The interior is small (seats only 24 people), but the sushi was super fresh and very well prepared. The hot dishes were also very good, and the sake menu was surprisingly large. Fast and friendly service. Large free parking lot. Highly recommend it!

Tried the Omakase tasting menu and really enjoyed it! The food was fresh and nicely presented, and the service was attentive without being intrusive. The restaurant is on the smaller side, which makes for a cozy and intimate dining experience. The pacing of the courses was also well done—we never felt rushed, but there was no long waiting between dishes either. A great spot for a relaxed yet refined sushi night.

Sushi Jin in Mountain View is an absolute gem! We recently visited for my wife’s birthday, and we opted for the omakase tasting menu. From start to finish, every dish was crafted with such precision and care. The freshness and quality of the fish were outstanding, and each course was a delightful surprise. The balance of flavors and textures was impeccable, showcasing the chef’s incredible skill. The ambiance of the restaurant made the evening feel intimate and special. The staff was warm and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed to make the night memorable. My wife was thrilled, and so was I. If you’re looking for an unforgettable dining experience, Sushi Jin is definitely the place to go. Highly recommend!

Sushi Jin left an indelible impression on me. The excellent quality of the food was matched with cordial and attentive servers and chefs. I hadn’t seen an iced matcha being offered at a sushi restaurant before so naturally, being a matcha lover, I had to order it and was not disappointed. There was a nice froth at the top and it tasted refreshing and light. I opted for the 14 course omakase which came with 3 scrumptious appetizers, 10 pieces of nigiri, and a soup, but they do have an a la carte menu as well. The omakase was beautifully presented and perfectly seasoned from start to finish. The gap between courses was well timed and left me feeling satisfied but not overly stuffed. I’m already thinking about the next time I can come back.

14 course omakase costs $155, with additional $55 uni tasting. Both experiences meet my expectation. The uni is fresh and you can tell the differences between Canada Uni, Santa Barbara Uni and Hokkaido ones. Most of the nigiris are made of white fish, but not too fishy. Worth trying.

Food is very good. Good variety and very well prepared. Atmosphere is a little stiff — both the waitstaff and the chefs. Nice counter and comfortable chair. We ordered a la cart. Forgot to take pictures of fish but it was all very good. Some items on omakase menu is not available a la cart. House made sesame tofu was amazing

TLDR: Sushi Min was an exceptional upscale Japanese dining experience with fresh, high-quality raw fish and sushi. We opted for the 14-course tasting menu, and each dish was outstanding. The menu consists of four small (bite-sized) plates and 10 assorted raw fish bites, priced at $155 per person. The location is somewhat hidden in an unassuming strip mall near Safeway, but that adds to its charm. With only 20 seats, the intimate atmosphere is enhanced by warm, attentive service. Sitting at the bar gave us the added bonus of watching the chefs expertly prepare each dish. The standout was the black sesame dessert, a perfect balance of unique flavors, creamy texture, and crunchy sesame tuile—not too sweet, just right.

Truly exceptional quality of fish, and an overall wonderful experience for lovers of sushi like us!!! 😍 We chose to order a la carte to lean into the nigiri , although the omakase looked excellent as well. It is a pricy meal, but that reflects the artistry and care as well as ingredient quality. Arigatou!

Best sushi in the south bay! I've been going two times already since it opened. Both times I had omakase. The menu changes according to the fish in season. Every sushi tasted amazing. I was truly impressed with my experience here. It is a little hidden gem with a sushi bar and just a couple small tables inside. Ideal for date nights or a special occasion with a loved one. My group of 4 sat at the bar and had a fun time chatting about each thing we ate. For the $145 omakase course, it included two appetizers, a mix of nigiri + handrolls, and a soup to finish. Had a reservation here on Friday at 5:30 for counter service and we got the corner, which was great since we got to see all of the dishes being brought out to the tables and gave us an idea of what people were eating. We had ordered the omakase ($155 pp) with one order of the uni add-on ($45) to share along with several other additions, which we added throughout our meal up until 30 mins of our seating (2 hour limit). We both ordered tea, which came in different pots and we noticed the variety of tea pots they had that all looked fantastic! The omakase dinner comes with 3 appetizers, 19 piece Nigiri, and a soup to end up. This is a pretty good amount of food but we also added on a Chawanmushi (wife's favorite), 3 additional Nigiri, and the ice cream to finish off and we were beyond stuffed but it was all so worth it! My wife wanted me to add that the first appetizer could have done with some added texture to it, something like jellyfish may have been a good compliment. We really liked the tempura and it really blew us away with the taste and texture. The Kinki was also pretty amazing and had an excellent texture and wasn't oily/buttery as we were fearing and had great balance. . The nigiri came out one at a time with around a 3-5 lag between pieces so nice to be able to enjoy them (recommended with your hands and they give you a nice finger towel as well) and have a bit of conversation with some drinking in between before the next one came. They were all excellent pieces and it wasn't an easy 'better as you go' type of experience, which I love. Each piece was well selected to bring your taste experience through a journey. The chefs were very talkative and interacted with us throughout the meal along with the wait staff. I love uni and was really excited for the uni set that we ordered and they had a few different types/regions with two of them being brined in their own salt water, which gave them an interesting twist that you don't experience much. Overall they were enjoyable but didn't quite hit the quality we were expecting. Our add-on Nigiri were all excellent, with two of them being recommended by the staff, the hairy crab and the steamed prawn. Both were really great but my wife's favorite was the amaebi. She rated that Nigiri as the best out of everything we ate with the chanwanmushi coming in a close second. Overall, one of our best sushi experiences in the states.

Sushi Jin, though challenging to locate in its plaza, is accurately marked on Google Maps. The music is slightly on the louder side. The staff is amiable and informative. Consider the $155 per person Omakase menu. The Nigiri was flawless. Be sure to double-check your bill, as we nearly paid twice for our sake. Despite minor issues, Sushi Jin offers a great experience for special occasions.

Absolutely delicious! It’s a bit pricier compared with other places but the taste and sizable portions deliver a ton of value. Some of the more outstanding pieces have that sear and smokiness deep in every bite. You also know this is a quality place when the sushi rice is done well and served at the right temperature. It’s so good I’m sharing the news with my friends and will be back in a few weeks!

We went to Omakasa dinner in Mountain View last night, “Sushi Jin”! $135 person and started with bottle of Sake @ $81, the Uni tasting was $55 each and it wasn’t the freshest I’ve had and a few more pieces of sushi for $10.5 and $13.5 each! The whole dinner ended up be to $280 person! I liked the Omakasa we went in Bangkok for wife’s birthday last October much better, more food and every tasted much better at $180 per person! The rice from last night was the only thing that was really good and memorable! But I wouldn’t come again! The service was very good and the menu and food was explained clearly!

Ideally, I'd give this place a 3.5, but that's not an option, so I'm rounding up. My friend and I went to Sushi Jin for dinner and tried their Omakase ($145 pp + taxes). Our omakase experience included 3 appetizers, 10 piece sushi courses, and a soup course. We also added a $55 uni set, which included 4 different types of uni (2 from Hokkaido, 1 from Canada, and 1 from Santa Barbara). The shrimp appetizer with fig was decent. It had a lot of different textures and flavors. The grilled ayu appetizer was supposed to be deboned, but my friend found 2-3 bones in there. The fish was also dry and didn't really have any flavor. Thankfully, it came with a sauce and Himalayan sea salt. Our third appetizer included japanese sea water eel, and it was good. For our 10 piece sushi course, we got a wide variety. The fish was fresh, but the thickness of the cut of the fish was inconsistent. Some nigiri had a generous (thickness) cut of fish, and some had a thin cut. In some nigiri pieces, wasabi was overpowering, so we couldn't really taste the fish. The uni set was good. Surprisingly, the Canadian uni tasted better than the Hokkaido uni. Regardless, the uni just melted in our mouths and had a slightly sweet taste. The service was good, and the staff was attentive. I wish they were a bit more mindful. Almost every time we finished a dish, we got interrupted by the server to ask us if they could take our plates (when we had already placed the empty plates on the side). It's not a big deal, but something that stood out. It's a very cozy restaurant that offers an intimate dining experience. We definitely had a few groups that were there to celebrate birthdays/anniversaries.

Friendly staff, with just mid-tier sushi. For the price point, i was expecting more. Ordered tempura on the side, which was also decent.

Omakase is good but there are better values in some newly opened competing restaurants. Some of the sashimi didn’t taste that great. Some are great. The service is great and the staff is exceptionally courteous.

The overall experience was good, the food was tasty and the flow for Omakase was decent. We added the Uni which total per person was $200. I would love it if they add a few more nigiri to the Omakase menu alone is $150 per person. Is it worth it? Maybe for special occasions.

First, I have to say the food was very good! If you have small stomach, you may get full! BUT for $125+tax+tips = $160 per person, I cannot get even close to be full after 2 hours dinning (95% of time, I was waiting). The time length between each course is long, the food portion is tiny. Have to go to Burger King after this! Lol Sorry very bad experience for me!

Not bad but didn’t think the omakase was worth the price. Most of the nigiri was a little inconsistent either being too heavy on wasabi or yuzu.

For how expensive it is (and it is expensive), the consistency simply isn't there. The food is painstakingly slow at times, and while it is oftentimes very delicious, the consistency is poor. 6/10 times you will leave thrilled with your meal and feeling that the at-times-spotty service was worth it, but 4/10 times you will leave questioning why you spent hundreds of dollars a person (pre tax, no alcohol) for a disappointing meal. And those 4/10 times add up to hundreds if not thousands of dollars spent on disappointing meals. Worth a try, but it's not somewhere you can count on for a consistently excellent meal.

The sushi rice keeps falling apart. The waitress is too aggressive, other than that, it’s okay.

3.5 stars - in what world is it acceptable to call us after our dinner to let us know our gratuity was below average? Let us start with the fact that the omakase is 14 courses (10 of which is their nigiri - each is considered one course) for $155 per person (as of 10/05/2025), a mid price range for omakase. We walked in, friendly staff greeted us and seated us. There was a card that said "Happy Anniversary!" with nothing inside it. We've went to other similar restaurants where we were presented with the staff's signatures or something small to commemorate the occasion. We were then offered the food menu and a drink menu. It's a small place but had a lot of staff in comparison. When we were offered recommendations for the sake - we were offered the ones that costed $45+ per glass. Fine, we'll splurge since we were there for our anniversary. I thought it was odd that the waitress kept "recommending" when we did not ask for her recommendations. For example, she "recommended" that we get a full bottle if we will drink more than 3 glasses because a bottle is the price of ~3 glasses even after we let her know that we're not big on drinking and will get drunk because we have low alcohol tolerance so we will share a single glass and that will be enough for us. No water was offered until we asked for it and it was a little while after we had already received our sake in a glass. The first course was good (the balance of texture and flavor was good), second was meh (fish had no flavor at all even with the mushroom wrapped inside and had to rely on the sesame sauce for taste), and the 3rd (classic steam eggs with crab) was good - the highlight was the sauce on top. Each of the fish that was served was tasty, no complaints about the food. I've had better omakase but this was good. We are big fans of uni so we even ordered their uni tasting sampler which was $44 per person. They offered us a yuzu drink at the end to celebrate and we had our last course along with the Japanese yam ice cream which tasted exactly like eating Japanese yam ice cream. We felt like we ended on a pretty good note. Disclaimer: I will admit we are not big tippers (perhaps even on the lower side) and I've worked as a waitress at a sushi restaurant before so I understand the hustle to want a large tip. We also grew up in Asia where gratuity/ tip is an unfamiliar concept. If we like the food, we'll order more or we'll come back next time is what we're used to. For reference: the recommended tip on the check that evening was ~$100. We're not by any means wealthy, so we left a tip that we were comfortable with after splurging for the night. Isn't that what gratuity is? It should be up to our discretion. My take: If Sushi Jin wants to mandate a 15 - 20% gratuity like some omakase restaurants do then do that, but don't go calling customers while they are on their way home after they are tired and slightly intoxicated. We were on a Waymo so we panicked thinking we had left something at the restaurant. Then the person on the other phone said "I see that you've left us a tip that was BELOW AVERAGE, can you tell us if there's something wrong with service tonight?" I answered, "no". This is because it's very late, we are tired, and if I wanted to give you feedback I would have done it in-person. To me, you just wanted to call to let me know that I left a tip that you were unsatisfied with. What outcome were you hoping for by calling us? You could send us a survey, not call us when we're on our way home. We ended the night with a bill that was almost doubled what we went in for, that should be enough for an establishment. That leads me to question whether the staff are being fairly compensated. When is it the consumer's responsibility to make sure the restaurant's staffs are adequately compensated? This experience has left a very bad impression for us and we will not be going back nor will we recommend this restaurant for our friends and family. There are better omakase out there, ones that will not call us to passively aggressively complain about tip.

Came here for my father’s bday dinner last night. He grew up in Japan and loves sushi. Says this place has rare types of fish which he’s never had. So that’s cool. From my perspective pretty good food but overpriced (800ish for omakase for 3 and a bottle of sake). The sushi rice kept crumbling and falling apart. The tea was weak bland and not at premium level that I expected. They gave the two ladies next to us a complimentary bday dessert but didn’t give my dad anything… after taking 800USD from me, confirming it’s his bday multiple times… can at least comp my dad a dessert for his bday…no? My rec to the restaurant management is if you’re going to comp someone something for an occasion (esp sitting directly next to another customer who’s celebrating their bday) you should comp all celebrating their bday to make them feel just as welcome. Left a terrible aftertaste when they didn’t give my pops a bday dessert is all I’m saying. Esp for a premium price 250+ USD/person. Not coming back. But that being said if you’re willing to pay the money, this place has rare and good fish.
