We love their food and come often. Their service is very good! Speed of getting food ready is also good. Their sticky mango rice dessert is very good, sweet and ripe mangos. Still many dishes to try!
This actually turns out better than we expected! Guess it's not yet broadly shared on xiaohongshu but already got full house on a Friday evening. Food has 锅气 which is very authentic. Rotti with peanut sauce, papaya salad, spicy basil with ground pork all are very good. Their mild spicy level is probably medium in other American-Thai restaurant, authentic in its way. Prices are reasonable, we got more than we could finish.
While visiting Castro Street we decided to try this Thai restaurant and were very pleased with the quality and taste of the food, the service and the environment. The Mango salad with crispy tofu was exquisite. The spicy eggplant stir fry with prawn was also amazing. We paired it with steamed brown rice and after our first few bites decided we will definitely be back to try other dishes.
The owner was very nice and generous. The food was really good and the service was fast.
Everyone in our group loved their food. I recommend their curry dishes (Mussaman & yellow curry), spring rolls, ginger tea, and roti with cashew sauce appetizer.
We visited this place for team lunch. Great Thai place with excellent food! I loved the authenticity of the food and their service was great and friendly! Great vegetarian options too! Deserts were okayish! Worth a try!
One of the best Thai restaurants I have been. Hot Tom yum soup was made of shrimp, mushrooms and tomatoes and it was very sour. Hoa Mok Fish was tasty and the spice level was pretty good.
Very nice Thai restaurant. We enjoyed large coconut seafood soup and springs rolls and also Sinhga beer. Everything was fresh and tasty.
10/10 experience and food. I used to come to Amarin a lot when I lived nearby. I have not been back in a long time but was able to stop by the new location. I am so grateful that I was able to come back and have the mango cashew chicken & thai tea. Everything was delicious, just like I remembered. The service was great and everyone who helped me was so kind. I will be back when I am in the area again!
Best Thai food experience in Mountain View/Palo Alto. Our months- long search is over. We had chicken satay, soft tofu fresh rolls, and spicy basil tofu fried rice. All really good. Great service, airy, on a busy fun closed street. We will be back!
This is by far the best udon I have had. The flavors were very complex and the dishes were served shortly after ordering. I enjoyed it so much I went back the next day to try other menu items. I highly recommend the Tonkotsu udon deluxe, I opted for the large which was too much as it is filled with meat. The Katsu curry udon is also very delicious and comes in a large portion. If you are looking for a carbonara style udon go for the Mentai cream sauce.
Really yummy. For $19 I got a very filling curry udon bowl. Would recommend. There was a bit of a wait though on a Thursday ~7:45pm. Join the wait-list early on Yelp. Also got some edamame which was good but not amazing, probably wouldn't get that again. Would be interested in trying the tempura curry udon next time since fish cake in the normal one doesn't add much.
It’s my first time trying Japanese food in the Bay Area. I have been to Japan several times that is why I am very particular with how Japanese food taste like especially ramen. The food was really delicious. I had tonkatsu udon, shrimp tempura and matcha ice cream. I really enjoyed the taste of the food. The broth of the ramen is just right not too thick and it was flavorful and it reminded me so much of the ramen I had in Osaka and Fukuoka. Will I recommend this restaurant in downtown Mountain View? Yes, without any hesitation. Will I come back? Definitely and I will try the other food in their menu.
I’ve been meaning to go here for ages! It’s not that egg free vegetarian friendly, but once we had a group of all meat eaters, this was the place to go! I got the large Niku ramen, which I ate to overfilling and still had so much left over that it lasted me another full meal and a half meal after that. I also tried the onigiri, which was fried. It was yummy but I don’t think it was worth it for the $10 price tag. The tonkatsu udon looked like they had a creamier, more flavorful broth, but mine wasn’t bad. The location has friendly staff and large booth style seating. They also have a clean bathroom in the back. I would come again next time I want rudon!
Very great Japanese environment and service I really love the temporal and Udon. Sadly i am allergic to shrimp. When I didn’t notice the shrimp temporal added as appetizer in Udon, the server warmly assisted me and replaced a bowl. Even refund the cost for Udon. Feeling so honored and welcomed at here, will bring more friends to come in the future. The plant temporal is pretty amazing
The curry from the Katsu Curry Udon was good but the katsu was just okay, nothing special. The soup from the Beef Sukiyaki Udon was delicious and I could of drank it as a beverage. The beef was so damn good I wish I had a second serving; there wasn't enough beef. I could do without the tempura pieces.
Delicious homemade udon noodles! My friend and I arrived around 7pm on a Wednesday. We had a short wait before being seated at the communal table. It was quite crowded at the table so we were happy when our server came by again and offered to seat us at a 2 person table instead. We both ordered tonkotsu udon and split the corn tempura. I'm not a huge fan of corn but thought the tempura was quite good! The Udon noodles had a perfect texture and were just slightly chewy. The broth was quite rich with a good flavor. I loved the inclusion of a shrimp tempura and liked the generous spinach portion. Highly recommend!
Fabulous service! We had a short wait for a table where we watched the chef preparing fresh udon noodles at the front window and then we were ushered to our cozy table inside. Lots of happy groups enjoying the evening. Our orders came out so quickly. So much food! And so delicious!! Staff was attentive without being annoying. We felt welcome, well-cared for, and full when we left!
Trying this place after 10 years. The quality has gone down compared to our last experience. The spring roll was good but the sauce could have been better. It was too salty that it overwhelmed other tastes. Pineapple fried rice was good you can’t go wrong with it. Green curry was delicious. I think this was the only place that I could find spicy Thai curry. Overall, good meal, but kinda overpriced.
We have eaten here for years and this is the first time at the new location. This place is half the size of the old location that was across the street. The food is still very good. Mango cashew chicken is a family favorite. Service has room for improvement. They dropped stacks of plates on the center of our table and had us place them, dropped 4 glasses and left at the side of the table, and brought the wrong appetizer by accident, We will still return and hope service is better next time.
The food was delicious I enjoyed the green curry I ordered and the pan-fried noodles. Service: The server was also really attentive to our friends’ nut allergy so I appreciated how they went back to check if the dishes were nut-free. The service can be slow also. We waited a while for our food and they almost missed the last dish we ordered, so expect to wait after you order. Restaurant: The restaurant has plenty of seatings. They have Thai decorations on the wall which is nice to see. It also looks like they have the tables where you sit on the floor, but those were closed when we came. Parking: Parking around downtown Mountain View’s not bad. We just parked in one of the lots nearby.
The food was really delicious but I am giving four stars because they gave us small dish and it was hard for us to eat in small dish. Apart from this the overall quality of food was awesome and the service was also good. Along with it they also helped us by keeping the cake in refrigerator as went to celebrate one of friends birthday. Fried rice , spring roll, pranthey and chutney and special salad was too good but the quantity was less as per price. I am definitely going there again!!
A great Thai place to eat with friends! The Tom ka soup is pretty good! I ordered with seafood. Curry is a bit salty but I guess you need to eat it with lots of rices, crab fried rice is my favorite! I had it twice but first time is better than second I guess. Still enjoyable
Came for lunch. Tried to skip carb and eat healthier and asked if I can have veggie as replacement. The waitress was flexible and agreed to change it without extra charge. Food came fast. My soup was delicious, although the replaced bean sprouts were scanty. Can't ask for more when they were nice enough to modify for you. Basil chicken and yellow curry chicken were both tasty. Yet the papaya salad was unbearably sour and tasted terrible, it also had fishy smell. I've never had papaya salad this bad. The recipe was a disaster. Service was very nice. Staff was polite and attentive. Would probably come back to try other dishes.
Good authentic Thai food. Friendly staff. Nice ambience. A bit pricey but well worth the tasty fare they serve. Some tables offer great view of the street and you watch the world stroll by.
We met some friends for lunch, they say this is their favorite for noodles. We got seated right away, we ordered tempura appetizers as well as 4 different soups. I tried Tonkatsu Udon, the textures were very nice, I wished it could have been a hotter broth. Perhaps after adding a cool-ish topping, it cools down the broth. Also tried the Mentai Cream Sauce Udon. It was creamy with a seafood taste, I think we are use to broth-y udon styles. The tempura was nice and crispy, it also came with a side of ginger and daikon to add to the dipping sauce. Service was welcoming and efficient.
Got the warm udon with the sweet tofu (kitsune?). It was excellent and a decent portion. Bit pricy here but to be expected for the area. Would come again and order the tofu again!
Udon Mugizo in Mountain View is a standout for anyone craving authentic, handmade noodles with a perfect chew. The Tonkatsu Deluxe Udon features a rich, creamy broth that pairs beautifully with their thick noodles, while the Beef Katsu Curry Udon offers a deep, savory heat with a perfectly crispy cutlet. Their appetizers are just as impressive—the Chicken Karaage is juicy and well-seasoned, and the Fried Shrimp are light, crunchy, and never greasy. It’s an essential Castro Street stop for high-quality Japanese comfort food.
The veggie udon was phenomenal, so flavorful and can be made hot or cold with soy meat. Though the ingredients are plant based, they don’t separate food prep areas however so stricter vegans might be out of luck. The rest of the menu is limited for vegan options as things like tofu have fish broth or seasonings
Had a fantastic lunch at Udon Mugizo in downtown Mountain View—a true spot for authentic Japanese noodles. I had the Tonkotsu Udon with a rich, creamy pork broth full of deep umami flavor classic kotteri style. The Nabeyaki Udon arrived bubbling in a clay pot with crisp tempura, a poached egg, and perfectly chewy noodles with great koshi. We started with Gyoza tempura crispy outside, juicy inside, and full of flavor. Felt like a meal straight out of a Tokyo noodle bar. Highly recommend for udon lovers.
Been here a few times for both lunch and dinner. They have good outdoor seating area with umbrellas and heat lamps. Service is decent and waiters/waitresses are friendly. For appetizers: - Their Chicken Karaage is excellent. Crunchy outside and very juicy inside. I believe they use thigh meat which doesn't dry out like breast meat. - Adagashi tofu is good. Tofu pieces are bigger than other places, and taste like other places. Nothing special. - The Vegetable Tempura is great. The veggie pieces are good size and cut pretty thick (unlike some restaurants cut it very thin). The veggies include broccoli, eggplant, squash, sweet potatoes, mushroom and corn. For the noodles: - Tonkotsu Udons are rich. They have three variations with different meat and toppings. The broth is the same. - Nabeyaki Udons are very good. It's in a lighter brother with chicken. Both Udons are good, depends if you want lighter or richer broth. They also put the shrimp tempura in it. Personally I don't like it being soggy. I always ask for th shrimp tempura on the side and skip the tempura bits. If you need to use the bathroom, they only have 2 individual ones. The isle to wait for the bathroom is very narrow and it's between the kitchen and the dining area. It makes guests feel weird to stand in the way of the staff waking back and forth while waiting for the bathroom.
4.3 stars Ordered their Mentai cream sauce udon. Recommended a medium size or else it would be too heavy and creamy. The udon is really chewy and delicious. Would like to try some other dishes next time. Walkable distance at Mountain view downtown Parking lot that has Free 2 hour public parking
Good authentic food mostly, curry etc a bit over seasoned . Also note that extra sauce for ROTI seems like an extra charge of $7. Also the bill was given to me without showing the specific price for each item. Just wishing more honesty on this. The point is mostly deducted for this.
Food lacked flavor. Chicken satay and papaya salad was good. Fresh rolls and crab fried rice were average at best. Pranag chicken curry was the worst. Had big chunks of chicken with two three pieces of bell pepper. Curry was tasteless and whole dish looked unappetizing. Won’t be visiting again
Unfortunately service fell far short of even decent. Both waiters were rude and short with a 10+ minute delay to take our order and 30+ minutes to receive food. Drink refills were nonexistent. When it came time to pay the bill, we were told when we were given the check that the bill could only be split two ways. There were 6 of us that sat down and we informed the waiter we would all be separate checks and there was nothing said. We paid via handheld PoS system which could easily separate the checks. I understand it takes a few more minutes of the waiter’s time to split the checks, but that is compensated by mandatory pay and optional tips. On the positive side, the food was fantastic, with great taste and really solid portions. This unfortunately does not overcome the service issues. With all the other options in Mountain View, I would look elsewhere.
