If you like seafood and good wine, this place is absolutely outstanding! The service, the timing from order to table, i literally have nothing critical to say in the slightest! They even brought out a vase of water to put my friends flowers in while we ate. Thank you! We had 2 starters, a side of fries and 2 light mains and that was more than enough for us 2. Stunning food!
If we are talking fish, this is the place to go in Nailsworth. We often see the fish lorry dilivering fresh from Brixham. Beautiful garden to sit outside in and to watch the world go by.
An amazing evening for my anniversary. Service was great and food was perfect. The fact this restaurant doesn’t apply a service charge, when so many other subpar bad service establishments do, is beyond me. They all deserve a tip for their efforts, really made our night special.
If you’re in the area and like seafood then this is an absolute must. Great service and staff, good wine selection. Food was delicious and didn’t disappoint. Highly recommend. Pictures attached. Starters , Tuna carpaccio, pan fried scallops with poached pear. Mains, rolled lemon sole & split giant prawns. Dessert, chocolate tart & raspberry crème brûlée. All washed down with chilled Pinot Grigio. 👌
Nice cafe atmosphere, beautiful food and great service. We had lunch and as long as you like seafood you are in for a real treat. We booked online and received a warm welcome on arrival. The food was well presented and tasted fantastic.
My girlfriend booked a table here for my birthday, and even though expectations were high, we were both thoroughly impressed. And considering we had a couple of drinks, a bottle of wine and a cocktail, the overall price was pretty reasonable. Photos include the chowder, duck terrine, oysters, Thai monkfish, and grilled tuna steak. The grilled tuna was possibly the most enjoyable piece of fish I've ever had.
One of 3 places in UK with such an amazing seafood. We pre order seafood platter for two, I would say, worth every single penny. An incredible tasty, full of flavours. Filling up so much we couldn't order anything else, so shame because the main dishes, looking at the menu sound fantastic. Staff, very friendly, kind, helpfull. I presume the boss lady was the owner, thank you for very warm welcome. Atmosphere superb. We traveled from around Oxford, 1.5hrs, and we will back again.
We had an excellent lunch from the set menu. The butterflied sardines were cooked well and nicely served. The Catalan fish stew, for main, was hearty and very tasty. Followed by a sticky toffee pudding. Generous portions, good price and friendly, efficient staff. We expect to visit again.
The best place to go for fresh fish whether you’re eating in or taking away with excellent staff and a hands-on owner. They also have a fantastic range of products available in their shop front.
Just fantastic. The food was excellent, a little on the salty side towards the end though, but the service was amazing and the atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. I would recommend a visit if you are near the area.
Fabulous seafood in lovely surroundings. You walk in to a fishmongers, then go through into the restaurant behind it. Highly recommended.
A really amazing place. Was in town for a event and popped in here. Quality of the produce was incredible, the fish counter selection was awesome, The prices were absolutely fantasticly reasonable too! Oysters were wonderful, thanks to the gentleman for shucking a few for me as a treat. Staff were super friendly and welcoming. I will return one day to this brilliant place. If your ever in the area I would certainly check it out. Thanks all!
Fantastic seafood restaurant, fish shop and deli, we had a super lunch, excellent food in a relaxed and friendly setting
Just had lunch in the garden and it was so good we immediately booked for the restaurant on Friday evening. It's hard to even pass the shop's deli counter with the delicious food on display and once in the meals live up to that promise - see photos. Inside, the restaurant has a cafe atmosphere, outside the garden suffers from some traffic noise but don't let that put you off as we enjoyed sitting under the willow on a hot summer's day. Sharon and I shared the king scallop starter with fresh baguette - delicious. Sharon had split king prawns with fries and I had the seafood stew, start argument of who had the better choice! Good choice of wine, beers and soft drinks although I heartily recommend the Normandy cider. Staff are very friendly and helpful, squeezing in our late Friday reservation despite being packed.
A lovely, friendly atmosphere with great food. May have to become an annual visit for my birthday.
Food was amazing. Lovely friendly staff and the weather was so nice that we sat outside under the old willow tree to eat.
Booked a table for lunch on Tuesday the 18th of May, 1 day after the Covid-19 lockdown easied. Covid safe and well organised. Pleasant and attentive staff, food excellent and fresh.
If you love seafood you must visit Williams. Live locally but this is the first time we've visited - it won't be the last!
Delicious food, incredible fish, lovely atmosphere, great staff! Will come again soon!
Beautiful fresh fish and seafood in the centre of the Cotswolds, lovely service and wonderful position. Would totally recommend.
Fabulous fish and lovely service. Will definitely be back and recommend to friends.
We went there today with relatives, they allowed a guide dog to sit quietly in a corner and are obviously proud to be inclusive and diverse. The food was amazing, the service was impeccable, the atmosphere was tremendous and the company was good. One of the finest fish dishes I ve ever tasted. The John Dory was perfect. The coffee was great. Parking just behind for convenience. Very hard working, well trained staff. A credit
Very high quality dishes. 3 x 175ml wine. Starters: scallops, fish soup. Mains: fish and chips, sea bass. £98. Good atmosphere, decent service.
Had a lovely dinner. Its our 3rd visit and the service, food and atmosphere are always on point. A great variety of excellent seafood on offer. Can't recommend it highly enough. 100% worth a visit.
Incredible! A must visit for seafood lovers. The staff were superb, highly trained, professional wait staff. Really friendly and knowledgeable. Food was exceptional. Genuinely can't find flaw. I cannot wait to go back.
We were in Nailsworth for a couple of days chilling.Noticed this fish restaurant in central Nailsworth and found that they are open from lunchtime till teatime Monday to Thursday and also open at night Friday and Saturday. Went for a light lunch bite on Tuesday as had already booked an Italian meal for the evening. Very friendly greeting by staff and we were offered an outside table, which was a bonus considering the hot weather. Good choice of fish and seafood first courses. I won't give you menu choices as they change a lot of it daily. I had the William's soup ( which is a menu staple and my wife had a King Scallop. Both were excellent. ( The William's soup is probably the best fish soup I can remember eating )Very reasonable price including wine and beer. Enjoyed it so much we decided to return the next day for a full lunch. Outside table again and very friendly professional waiting staff. We both went for Spicy Crab soup first course. My wife had halibut main and I had Catalan fish stew. Both meals were superb. We had a chat with waitress and she told us that they get most of their fish and seafood fresh daily, delivered from various parts of the country. What a gem of a restaurant. So unusual to get such a great independent seafood restaurant in the heart of England, so far from the coast. We cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough for food, staff, atmosphere and value for money.
Delicious food, the deli shop is also incredible, perfect for Christmas hampers, and for delicious ingredients
As ever fine atmosphere, excellent service and happy customers. However, a mild gripe: for the second time in two visits, a few months apart, my fish was raw in the middle and had to be returned and came back over cooked rather than tender or flaky. Sure, this happens and it won’t stop me returning next time I am up. The dishes of the other people I was with were perfect.
Excellent menu We really enjoyed our lunch
Thanks so much for a lovely night. We came as a big party of 13. It was a very thoughtful touch to produce a separate menu for the vegans amongst us. The waiting staff were remarkable in the way they dealt with such a large party. The food was served quickly and was amazing. It was my mother's 80th and the staff sang happy birthday and presented her with a cake. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable evening for our whole family. Thank you!
Had a fabulous lunch with friends. The food was excellent, and I can recommend the fish soup as a starter. All the dishes were fabulous and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The only thing that spoilt things a little bit for us was a very noisy customer who obviously wanted everyone to hear what a fabulous financial salesman he was. What a bore, but that's not the fault of the restaurant, just a bit of a shame. It's not the cheapest, however, worth every penny, and I would absolutely recommend a visit. We will definitely be visiting again soon.
Visited for our anniversary and have to say its probably the nicest meal we have ever had. The staff were friendly , helpful and very attentive. Couldn't do enough for us. All of the food tasted amazing, full of flavour and cooked to perfection. Husband had the hake and said its the nicest he's had. Reasonably priced as well. Would definitely recommend and will definitely return when in the area again x
We had an absolutely incredible meal here this evening, not like any other fish place I have been to. Every dish we ordered was perfect and the flavours were matched very well. Lots of choice and a menu specific to the day
We booked a table at the last minute and even though the restaurant was reasonably busy we were given a lovely table for our party of four. The staff are courteous, polite and extremely efficient. The food was absolutely delicious, the Tuna and Sea Bass were great but the Monkfish scampi was just beautiful, can’t recommend highly enough . Thank you Williams for a wonderful meal.
This is one of our favourite restaurants in the area! The food is always wonderful, great atmosphere, and the staff and service is friendly and welcoming.
Crab soup - yum. Satay bream was delicious, exotic and tender like butter. Service joyful. Sad I can’t eat here every day!
We've been customers of Williams Kitchen for many years now. Always a lovely treat and a great place for fish lovers. The staff are welcoming, friendly and very attentive. The cod and haddock were really fresh and tasty! Can't wait to return.
I adore this place. Superb food, great service and atmosphere. Come here evening or lunch. Summer, winter or spring/autumn. It’s always a lovely place to have food. Highly recommend.
Wonderful restaurant this. Very difficult to fault. Not outrageously expensive. Incredible food, lovely staff, great atmosphere - not noisy. Comfortable. My ONLY tiny gripe is that the loos could be a bit better (hot water?!) - but really, I’m a Londoner used to eating in the west end and this restaurant blows all of them away. Practically perfect. Thank you.
Beautiful fish dishes. I had the Catalan stew and my partner had the hake. So much love and attention has gone into the food; the flavours superb and portions well sized for a very reasonable price :) Service friendly and unintrusive- clearly the place to be in the Cotswolds judging by how busy it was :)
So far been twice. Each time food and service has been excellent. There is a good range of options in terms variety, but also price and portions. So everyone can choose what suits them best and can therefore accommodate differing tastes and budget to an extent. Pricey yes, but at least the quality matches that price level. Elsewhere, this is not always the case. Interesting and changing menu. Ingredients are fresh, and the cooking is executed well. Yum.
Highly recommend the monk fish curry!
Great food and drink (really interesting menu), lovely atmosphere. Service was reasonable (not particularly attentive). Covid precautions didn't seem that rigorous (not sure why staff can't wear masks, cleaning of tables was not very thorough).
Excellent food but a bit pricey.
Update When things go wrong Helen put it right and although the experience we had was not good went out of her way to put things right I attended the restaurant for my mothers 79 birthday When I left the restaurant with my mother still sitting at the table to collected her birthday present from the car, and I was heading away from the restaurant that I had eaten at many times before two staff came running after me my mother stood up and stated I was not doing a runner and I was embarrassed then I had to say I was going to collect the surprise from the car . Felt horrified . When I addressed the issues they stated I was looking to py and was lost we just ordered our desert!. I will never eat there again and will tell as many people as possible my dreadful experience.
A lovely fish restaurant serving great dishes but last time I was there they'd let someone else alter my online booking by 'phone without my knowledge and, unlike the rest of the staff who are lovely, an older waitress (maybe the maître'd?) gives the impression that working in a busy restaurant is too much and is straightfaced and often looks positively fed up! Not the impression William's wants to give its clientele I'm sure.
I’m sad because William’s is our favourite restaurant but it has changed. Seems they have lost the nice little touches they used to have like hot fresh French bread with butter that used to appear on your table at the beginning. Also the wine glasses would be so cold for white wine they would almost steam, yet of course the prices have gone up. The waitresses behaved like zombies and it lacked the personal touch it used to have. The food itself is still excellent although there is an air of busyness that I don’t enjoy. Please Williams go back to how you were, somehow 🙏 thanks
I was disappointed overall, although it wasn’t a bad meal — hence the three stars. The strangest part for me was the chips. For a place with such a strong reputation, I was expecting proper chips, but what we were served looked and tasted like frozen fries. I’m sure they weren’t, as that would be ridiculous, but the size, consistency and flavour were really underwhelming, especially in a fish and chip restaurant. Service was average and slow to start, and the prices felt steep — £25 for a piece of fish and some chips. I also had to ask for basics like vinegar and tartare sauce. All in all, not terrible, but nowhere near what I expected, and certainly not the best fish place I’ve been to
Me & my partner came here on a Thursday 28th at around 1PM. We came here based on recommendations from friends & family. We were super excited however it was all a little anticlimactic. They are known for their seafood & we were shocked to find NO SHELLFISH on the menu except for scallops & oysters on the starters. No crab, lobster or prawns we did ask the waiter who was kind enough to go and ask the kitchen. He came back and apologised & said there was none in today, they were getting them in for the weekend. We found this shocking as they are also a fishmonger & are only open for lunch service Tuesday-Thursday. Our order was: 2 large Albariño 1 small 6 oysters Scallops Sea Bass Bill total - £96.45 The wine was great we just found the small wine glass peculiar but cute. Oysters were fine Scallops were a little overdone for me. The Sea Bass was nice the meat itself was cooked really nice I just wish the skin had been a little crispier. Nobody really came to check on us once we had our mains & we had to ask for the dessert menu (we didn’t order) & bill. Overall it was just a bit of a let down having heard such great things.
Food was excellent – really tasty and well cooked, and the kitchen deserves credit. Sadly, the service really let the experience down. We were never once asked if we wanted another drink for the entire meal, and it felt like we were left waiting and forgotten about at times. Staff seemed disorganised and inattentive. It’s a real shame because the food is very good and could easily be matched with much better service. Much better places to visit in my opinion.
