Great breakfast, excellent customer service.

Going to black bear diner is always a fun experience, I can never finish my plates and I always have leftovers for later! If only all restaurants were like this. The waitresses and waiters are always very nice and comfortable to be around. If you haven't been to black bear I recommend getting the bread pudding and the tri tip dinner. It's perfect together! Parking is very easy to find and is accessible to the disabled and elderly as well. If you love bears and can eat like one, this is the place to go for you to go! ❣️❣️❣️

We only get to see him about once a month and the routine is to go tot he Black Bear and then to see a movie! My husband and I love coming to this location when we go to St. Helena. Our waitress was Desiree (Not sure of spelling, sorry), she was AMAZING! She went over and beyond. She made our experience such a good one that I had to do this review. Desiree is a true asset to BB. She was nice, friendly, professional and upbeat! Such a lovely person inside and out. A great little restaurant. They serve breakfast throughout the day as well as lunch and dinner options. There are salads available if you want to eat light or if you looking for a vegan snack and there's always highs for dessert. Restaurants welcomes toddlers teens adults as well as aging adults it is handicapped accessible there are bathrooms for use parking is free and abundant I'm not sure if they allow service animals they're open from 6 a.m. till 10 p.m. I have found myself there on a number of occasions each time I'm greeted in a friendly manner most of them remember where I like to sit for what I like to drink I always find it clean the food cooked to order and the staff friendly.

20250523 Dine in for lunch and split the Southern Scramble with the biscuit on the side. Good food and service. We ordered online for curbside pickup. The restaurant is understaffed and do not answer the phone so no curbside. Potatoes were undercoked. The rest of our meal, Bigfoot Chicken Fried Steak, was OK. Curbside pickup should not be an online option without staffing for it.

This was actually one of the highlights to our Napa experience. Adorable atmosphere, friendly waitress. It was very well priced and it was the perfect, carb-y meal to start on a day of wine tastings. Large portions too. The cinnamon roll French toast was incredible. We’ve been craving it since!

This place was a nice break from the high falutin and often rowdy crowds of the wineries... The food was really good. The small portions "for seniors and light eaters" was still a lot of food for a decent price. They also have beer and wine.

Service, Food, and atmosphere so good we had breakfast there 2 days in a row. Restaurant very clean, I appreciate that. To me it speaks to the idea that pride in your food is also reflective of cleanliness and how it can attract & detract from the entire dining experience. My eggs were perfectly over easy (medium). The pork sausage links were really tasty, and my blueberry pancakes were really light & fluffy. If you get the sausage & gravy over biscuits (my husband did, ask for one biscuit (it comes with two). He said the dish was good but two biscuits upsets the balance of sausage gravy to biscuits (biscuits are huge). One is just perfect. I enjoyed my visit & the food immensely, so much so, like I said, I went back twice. You won’t be disappointed with your meal.

This store seems to have a lot of regulars. Customers walk in and the servers know their beverage of choice and entree! Great service, fair prices, and good food with decent portions! This is my second Black Bear Diner to review and it’s been consistent! I do have to say that the decor seems a bit tired and there was a musty smell in the dining area when I walked in. Other than that, it was a pretty nice experience!

Good local diner. Came in for a late evening coffee and had a slice of chocolate cream pie. The coffee was ok. The pie was your quintessential cream pie. Instead of a slice though it comes as a single round momi-pie.

Food here was pretty good. Y wife had the chopped cobb, which was okay, but the blue cheese tasted a little weird. The chicken club I got was really good, especially with a side of their honey mustard. It seemed like they didn't have enough staff, so the wait was a little longer than I would have liked. Overall it is a cheap option for breakfast or lunch if you are in the downtown Napa area.

We've been going to Black Bear in Napa ever since it opened several years ago. We always liked the atmosphere- kinda rustic. The staff have always (except once) been excellent. Great ladies and guys who are friendly and efficient. One time we had an issue with the hostess who made us wait to sit at the counter until those in front of us were waiting to be seated at tables. It has always been my experience that if you want to use the counter you may proceed ahead of those waiting for tables. That was the only time we were disappointed in the staff. The food, especially breakfasts, are great. Lunches are very good too, with a variety of choices and any special requests handled correctly. However, I cannot recommend the "French Dip" meal. The meat was very tough, pot roast I think, and it was stringy and fibrous. The taste was bland. That is the only time I was dissatisfied with their food. Plenty of other choices though, so not to worry, you will find something to your liking.

Is black bear and Napa touch their portions in half compared to all other black bear restaurants! My friendship sandwich was a 1/2 a sandwich cut in half... Compared to all other black bear restaurants. If you order from the menu for a little less, you really get a lot less compared to any other blackbear restaurants. Don't care to go to Napa's restaurant anymore and the service was not very good.

I love breakfast and diners, only gave three stars here though for undercooked eggs and bland/cold hash browns. The staff was friendly and accommodating when we had to send the eggs back, no complaints with the service. We just felt the food could have been better. Won’t be coming back during our stay. We did like the affordable pricing and good portion size though.

While we were waiting to be seated, lots of employees walked past us. The restaurant seemed to be less than half full. 10 minutes later we were seated. We were allowed to look at the menu for about 15 minutes before we were asked if we wanted anything to drink. We ordered and then waited for our coffee. After about 15 more minutes, our food came out. The food is just OK. Service is definitely slow. Luckily the 49er game was on the TV and we had 4 in our party and conversation kept us busy. Given the food and service, we will not be back to this restaurant. Too bad because we've had good experiences at other Black Bear restaurants.

Visited here 4 years ago I was left with a very different view of the restaurant and food quality. Sadly, the last visit over Thanksgiving holiday was nothing short of disappointing. While the greeting and service are good the food and cleanliness did not meet our expectations. We arrived around 8am Sunday morning with few customers in total. Sadly, the food arrived barely warm. As for my dish the biscuits and gravy (small bites plate) the sauce had no flavor and the biscuits were dry and hard. Ordered a side of potatoes that were just okay. Normally this is a favorite when visiting I hope things change. Good luck!

I ordered to-go. They just threw the order together. Sandwich was falling apart. They grab someone's else's ranch which had stuff in it. And it look like someone took a bite off my sausage. I understand it was busy mothers day but absolutely unacceptable.

Well I've been in some other black bear locations and this time I'll never come back to this restaurant I won't give a good rate they bring my dish but it supposed to come with vegetables and the server told me that he was gonna bring them in a little bit but it didn't happened so I started to eat my food and when I was almost finishing it the guy brought them"toooo late" and the fries were overcooked as the onion rings as I show on the pictures very bad experience 👎👎👎👎👎

This establishment has gone to the pits. It used to be a go-to for locals and visitors alike but the quality of service is not what it used to be. Last time we came my mother had to turn away a mimosa because of foreign chunks of brown matter in the cup, and was then brought the same glass[which should have been tossed] 20 minutes later when she ordered a second drink. Today we were greeted with "I'll be with you in a second." instead of a proper welcoming. I'm thoroughly disappointed.

Food quantity is very good. But the potatoes in 4 out 5 plates were undercooked; the hash brown were brown on the outside but raw on the inside. Few if the sausage pieces in one of the plates were still frozen. The place and the ambiance were very nice; was quite busy but got seated quite quickly. But the food quality is quite bad.

He just stared , I turned and walked out. I think you should update your hours to reflect the actual time you are serving clients. Very poor business practice very poor customer service.

Worst BBD experience ever. Normally, we can count on BBD being consistent with well prepared food and good service. Well not this time. We ordered eggs and hash browns. Eggs were bland, hash browns were under-cooked and bland. Bacon was very greasy. Toast was cold with barely visible butter on it. Orange juice was the only good thing about breakfast. Service was slow and we had to wait over 10 minutes for our check after our plates were cleared. Waitress asked me how the food was and I told her "Just Okay" and she just walked away. Worst $50 breakfast EVER. Super disappointing.

Didn't come check on us to see if we need anything after our food was brought. Brought my wife the wrong plate. Didn't refill our drinks. Brought my toast out when I was done eating. Just HORRIBLE service all the way around. I have been there when they have been busy and still got excellent service. So yeah.

Food was typical diner fare. My hashbrowns were overcooked and biscuit was hard. My sons food was ok and my wife didn't like the sweet cream pancakes. But the service was poor. Never got my coffee refilled. Never got the check. When I went to the counter just got stared at. Not sure how this place has 4.2 stars. Maybe we got the b team.

Served raw chicken strips for my grandchild. We were told they were busy, which is absolutely no excuse! They took it off the bill and gave an extra discount. First and last time ever eating there.
