Very, very good, but not worth the $250 per person, Michelin star or not. Set in a hideaway, in a light industrial area, it has a tiny but spacious dining area hidden behind a sliding corrugated metal door with a large outer bar , any six seat interior bar. This is a prix fixe, full service, friendly, attentive dining experience. All the courses were great with novel tastes and textures, EXCEPT the Tri-tip, that was well tri-tip, disappointingly tough and incongruous. There is good parking nearby.

If there’s a restaurant in Nashville that deserves a Michelin star, this is it. The vibes are so unique. You get to sit basically in the kitchen and watch the chefs prepare everything you eat. They are so chill and laid-back, and it doesn’t feel pretentious at all. The food was really great and probably some of the best Nashville has to offer if you’re looking for a place to have some sort of special occasion, this is it.

I recently had the chance to dine at Bastion in Nashville, and it was an experience worth remembering. From the moment we sat down, the service stood out—attentive, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable about both the food and the wine pairings. Every member of the staff made us feel welcome without being intrusive, and that really elevated the evening. The tasting menu was beautifully crafted, with dishes that were creative, thoughtful, and executed at a very high level. Highlights included the raw oyster with plum and lemon verbena, the raw cobia with melon and genmai, and the Bear Creek pork with eggplant and sunflower. Each plate was stunning in presentation and layered with flavor. The portions are in true tasting-menu fashion—small and refined—so while I left a little hungry, the quality of each bite more than made up for it. We chose the wine pairing, which was spot-on. The selections complemented each course beautifully and gave us the chance to try a range of unique bottles. For cocktails, Bastion absolutely shines. Drinks like the Sandia Boys and Lush Garden were fresh, inventive, and perfectly balanced—easily some of the best cocktails I’ve had in Nashville. The atmosphere added to the night: warm, creative, and slightly playful, which fits the food and drink style perfectly. Overall, Bastion is a gem for anyone looking for an elevated dining experience in Nashville. Expect artistry on the plate, outstanding drinks, and top-notch service. Just know going in that this is a true tasting-menu format, so it’s about savoring flavors, not filling up. Would I go back? Absolutely—next time I’ll plan on grabbing a little something extra afterward, but for the food, drinks, and service alone, Bastion more than delivers.

An unforgettable dining experience from start to finish. The tasting menu was a masterful journey of flavors, each course beautifully presented and thoughtfully paired with wines that elevated every bite. The creativity in the kitchen is matched by the impeccable service—knowledgeable, attentive, and never intrusive. The ambiance struck the perfect balance between sophisticated and welcoming. This is more than just a meal; it’s an experience worth savoring and sharing. A true gem for anyone who appreciates culinary artistry.

Wow. This is the probably my peak dining experience I’ve had. Service was superb. Really enjoyed having the chefs explain their dishes and getting to watch them prepare everything. The wine pairing was excellent also. If you can swing it, you need to go and experience this place.

The tasting menu was excellent! My wife and I went to celebrate her birthday. She had a lovely time. We enjoyed trying foods that we don't normally eat prepared in ways we don't normally prepare them. I would've liked to have stopped at the little bar on our way out to try to some fine spirits, but another party occupied it the whole thing right before we finished our meal which was a let down. My wife's wine was delicious, while the one I ordered was a letdown. So, if you don't do the wine pairing, be selective. Overall, we would go back for the food.

Words can’t even express this place. I’ve been twice now and both times have been meals I’ll always remember. From the atmosphere to the food to the cocktails and wine pairings it’s a 10000 out of 10. Do yourself a solid and make the reservation!

From the moment I walked in, I knew it was going to be an experience. The fact that there is a regular bar in the opening with this incredible high end restaurant in the back, brilliant! We got a cocktail at the back bar and then headed to dinner. The food was impeccable. Visually beautiful but the flavor profile hit every time. The staff was so kind and attentive. It was not pretentious at all and was one of the best fine dining experience I’ve had.

We had such an amazing experience at Bastion. Each course was unique, fresh and exciting. I am so happy to have opted for the wine pairing too. We enjoyed talking with the chefs and getting their insight on how each dish was prepared and created. We will absolutely be back next time we are in Nashville. This was one of the top dining experiences we've ever had.

Vibes here as Been here before but came on a game day which meant busy busy. We ordered game day the special which is a drink and nachos. Ordered them veggie but it was loud and the bartender didn’t hear us. Anyway, get them, they’re meat heavy and just not what we wanted. We let them know and they went above and beyond to make it right. So impressed with the customer-centric mindset the staff had and how chill they were in correcting it and apologizing. Great spot in a good neighborhood but even better staff - especially Harrison. So professional and willing to go the extra mile. Keep it up y’all and see you next game!

I loved every bit of this meal. It worked out to about 16 different little plates. Impeccable in every way.

Really fun bar we like to stop at for a drink when we’re on that side of town. The nachos are a great snack you can split with another person if you’re looking for a quick bite! The sitting is really fun an inventive. We’ve also done the tasting menu restaurant in the back, and has been one of our favorite experiences in Nashville! Definitely worth the price if you’re looking ti celebrate a special occasion!

Food, service, ambiance were fantastic. Despite being a pricey (but worth the price if you appreciate the art of food) reservation-only restaurant, the dress code is casual which I appreciate. Sometimes fine dining restaurants can come off as a bit pretentious but everything felt very comfortable and homey at Bastion. You pay when you make your reservation. It came out to $501 for 3 people and when you get to the restaurant you get the option of adding a drink pairing. We stuck with ordering our own cocktails and the drinks (4 alcoholic, 1 mocktail) which came out to an additional $85. Tax and tip are included in everything. There is a paid parking lot for Bastion but it's best to snap a picture of your license plate and go in to ask about validation before paying on your own through the parking lot portal. Bastion validates parking and depending how long you stay you can get a partial or full discount (3 hours for us was free)

May be the best restaurant in Nashville. It’s not for everyone as you will try unique foods and flavors, but if you are a foodie, the restaurant at Bastion is a must-try. The restaurant is intimate, the chefs work beautifully and interact with you about the food, and the food is a creative tasting menu developed with precision and care. They know where every ingredient is sourced and the cooking methods sometimes take days or prep. They are also wizards with the drink pairings, both alcoholic and nonalcoholic. A standout date night experience! There’s parking in the lot across the street and they validate it at the restaurant. I personally enjoyed sitting at the bar where you can see the kitchen. Would highly recommend getting a reservation.

Great experience. Knowledgeable and attentive staff. Loved the vinyl bar ambience. Food and wine pairings were well done. Off the beaten track, but we'll worth it.

This is a must try dining experience when you’re in Nashville (if you can score a reservation). The restaurant itself is almost a secret entrance of sorts connected to its sister bar. It’s gorgeous inside and everyone (for the most part) sits at the chef’s counter. You basically get 1 on 1 service from very skilled chefs. The ambience was so unique. Overall service was some of the best we’ve had. It was so nice chatting to the chef about places he’s tried and to see how passionate he was about food—it was amazing. Drink menu was top notch. So many good cocktails, wine and beer that it’s tough to make a choice. Food was incredible. Bold flavours and great portion sizes. Did not leave there feeling like I needed to be loaded with a forklift but I was plenty full. The menu layout was so unique and we loved it. It was just such a great experience. Will 100% go back when we are in Nashville next time.

Bastion is a very unique spot! The menu is always changing, so it's a flavor adventure every time. If you're a picky eater, this place will not be for you as it is a tasting menu and the portions are small. This spot is mean't for the foodies who enjoy fine dining atmospheres and are willing to try new food methods and flavors. The small intimate vibe adds to the cozy charm. If you're looking for a food experience with small portions, big flavors, and that goes beyond the usual – then add this place to your list!

A top-notch restaurant! 6 course dinner, 24-person attendance limit, great hospitality, and a sophisticated wine pairing. This is something you can not find in the Tri-State Area. If you visit Nashville, please put Bastion on your bucket list. Just be sure to reserve your space in advance!

We recently had the pleasure of dining at Bastion, and it was an experience we'll never forget. From the moment we walked in, we were struck by the beauty and atmosphere of the restaurant. The attention to detail, both in the décor and service, was impeccable. The food at Bastion is nothing short of extraordinary. We had the opportunity to try dishes we’d only ever seen on cooking shows—tartare, kohlrabi, gooseberries, and duck—and each one was a delightful revelation. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the presentation was stunning. Every bite was a testament to the skill and creativity of the chefs. The service was equally impressive. The staff was attentive without being overbearing, and they made us feel like we were the only guests in the restaurant. It’s clear that the team at Bastion is passionate about what they do, and that passion translates into an unforgettable dining experience. We left Bastion feeling not just satisfied, but truly grateful for the experience. If you’re looking for a place that offers more than just a meal, but a culinary adventure, Bastion is the place to go. We can't recommend it highly enough!

This evening was a complete experience and was out of this world. We really did not know what to expect and we made reservations (like 4 weeks in advance) for an 8:30pm dining experience (which is 9:30pm our time which is my bedtime) only because we wanted to see one of the chefs who is chef-ing there now - Diana aka Diesel - who we know from the Kimball House in Atlanta. We got to Bastion at like 7pm and sat at the Big Bar which was fabulous. We both got a cocktail which was exceptional and then we needed food - but refused to order the nachos since we were eating in the main dining area. We moved from the big bar to a smaller more formal bar which is where one goes to get closer to your dining experience. Another cocktail - this one divine - and now we REALLY needed food. Finally we were sat in the small dining room at the bar where we got to watch each chef prepare their courses. And each course was a piece of art. We do not like small ridiculously sized portions of pretentious food, but this was not like that at all. Each portion was perfect, exactly what your palette wanted and needed and out of this world. Everything was made to perfection and each chef brought their own spin to things (of course we will say Diesel's food was our favorite :) If you can get in this restaurant, please do. It is a full experience and one that you will remember for a long time - but take it from us...don't have too many cocktails before your night truly begins!

Bastion’s is one of the finest places we have ever eaten. Each dish is extremely creative and combines so many different flavors. We have eaten at many fine restaurants, but this is by far the best place in Nashville we have ever experienced. The chefs preparing the food go out of their way to tell you about each dish and the wine pairing is highly recommended. We had high expectations going in, but by far every expectation was exceeded. Highly, highly recommend. Worth every dollar you spend.

Such a great experience!!! My friend and I made dinner reservations. The whole menu (attached in the pictures) was delicious, tastes, presentation, textures and portions. We were seating by the prep section, so we were able to watch the chefs decorating/putting plates together. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly.

Now this is how you do it! Talk about an experience. The wine pairing with the dishes served fit each other so impeccably I am at a loss of words... Okay I found them. This food was different in a way that made me interested. Love fine dining and I wanted to try this place forever!! So glad we got to experience this place, because everything was done to the T. You will not be disappointed and you will get full by the end unless you just have a huge appetite. The wines were amazing, every dish was amazing. I forgot the servers and host names but man if I could acknowledge them I would. The interior of this location was gorgeous and the low light made for an amazing date night.

In 2018, I planned a whirlwind trip to Nashville to see a band I was really excited about. I had booked a cool place to stay, got dinner reservations at this awesome looking restaurant, and made some notes of other interesting places I wanted to check out while I was in town. Unfortunately, from the moment I left work on Friday afternoon to start my adventure, everything went horribly, unbelievably wrong. I left late. My "cool place to stay" ended up being a bit sketchy. And, on top of that, when I got an Uber to head to my dinner reservations, my driver was lost, made many wrong turns, and I missed my reservation time. I also think it was raining, and I had no umbrella. Needless to say, I was defeated. When I finally got to my destination, I wasn't at this James Beard-nominated restaurant I had seen online. I was at a bar. Given everything that had happened up until this point, I decided that I finally deserved a moment of peace; I gave up on my reservations and sat down at the Bastion bar. I ordered a drink, bonded with a bartender over our shared pizza tattoos, and tried to decompress from my wild afternoon. I'd had just enough time to recenter myself when someone came from behind the bar and asked me my name. They saw my open bar tab, and they also saw that I had missed my dinner reservation; wondering what was up, they came and grabbed me. It turns out, I wasn't in the wrong place, I just didn't ask the right questions. I was led into the restaurant area (I'll spare you the details so you can experience it yourself, but it was a special transition), and I had one of my favorite meals ever. I just like cool, weird, interesting things, and Bastion is a perfect combination of all those adjectives. I'm writing this review over 5 years later because I still think of Bastion and how wonderful of an experience it was. The rest of my Nashville trip wasn't all that great; the band wasn't as great live, and I found myself feeling really old, surrounded by a bunch of teenagers (who were special in their own way, of course-- but not what I was expecting). The only thing that went right on that trip was finding Bastion, and I have zero negative things to say about my experience. Thank you for a fantastic dining experience, amazing food, and a special memory. I will always be a big fan.

Just visited Bastion for the first time on a Saturday night. This restaurant is a culinary experience. I was highly impressed with the flavors, textures, and artistic presentation of all the dishes I tried. The service was on point, the cocktails tasty, and there was little wait time between courses (however the courses were all timed perfectly). This is not simply a dinner, it is an experience and a chef’s restaurant. This place is a perfect for a nice date night or a place to celebrate a special occasion. One of the best places to eat in Nashville hands down.

Friends brought us here on Friday night for dinner. The dinner was wonderful. It is a tasting menu and we had them provide mixed drinks to accompany each course. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and all the dishes. The soup and fish course were my favorite. The chef came out to visit us a few times during the meal. He was very friendly and informative. All the staff are friendly and accommodating, as the wife has shellfish allergies. We will be back. This is the place to go for that special date night when in Nashville.

Wow. Bastion. The tastings were AMAZING! We also did the wine pairing and all of the flavors worked so well together. This is definitely an experience to be had with loved ones. It was so intimate and the servers were so knowledgeable. Expensive but worth it. The pre-dinner cocktails were great and boozy, the bartender asked us what flavors we enjoyed and crafted each cocktail specifically for us! I cannot wait to dine here again!

I’m so happy I decided to dine at Bastion and scored a reservation! Definitely the highlight of my trip to Nashville. Food was amazing, cocktail excellent and service outstanding. I loved sitting at the counter and watching all the action. Shoutout to Jacob who made my dining alone so much more enjoyable. I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great dining experience in Nashville, it’s worth every penny.

My favorite restaurant in Nashville is Catbird Seat so of course I had to give Bastion a try. We came with another couple and did the option to try everything and it was simply amazing. Every bit as good as Catbird Seat. My favorite style of eating is tapas so for me, this is fabulous. The flavors were incredible, presentation gorgeous, service impeccable...fabulous evening! **Update: Ate here again with another couple. Made reservations for 7pm for The Feast with wine pairings. Paid a little over $1000 in advance for the 4 of us. We waited at the bar for a little bit beforehand (if you're the designated driver and you've ordered the wine pairings, good idea to not get something alcoholic). When they sat us, they told us we had the table for the evening so no rush. We left about 10:30 btw (probably left the table at 9:45/10 and sat at the bar for another 30-45 minutes). Our meal of course was incredible. The sommelier had lots of interesting stories/history that he shared qith each pairing. It was hard to say what my favorite was because it was all amazing. I enjoyed the cards with descriptions of each course. The Feast is family style. Some of the dishes were separated so we each had our own dish and some we passed around. The steak was very impressive and beautifully presented! We were all full by the end. Of note is that you might want to arrive a little early to park. Not a lot of great parking and I'm not sure I'd leave my car overnight. The area has changed since we were last there though with lots of shops/restaurants/bars that have popped up. I highly recommend The Feast!

This is a fantastic dining experience in a `secret` room off from the side of the bar. The staff was absolutely top notch, answering any question you might have, and providing a very welcoming environment. Instead of choosing, we just did the Bring It All and Fly Blind combination. At the end, don't miss the private bar inside as they have a top notch bartender and selection of whisky/drinks.

Came here for my anniversary with my girlfriend and we had an amazing time! the food was so good and the service was impeccable. We were most surprised by the veggie course, since I typically just eat a ton of meat, but this frisee salad was fire. Like normally frisee is just a garnish, but this salad was so good i felt i needed this recipe! The duck breast and Fish (forgot name) was hella good too, their titles on the menu are a total set up! It literally said duck, potato, parsley, but when they serve it to you, it is like an explosion of flavor and texture, they totally underpromised and over delivered on every course! Will def come back!

Another incredible meal @ Bastion. Such unique and creative dishes. Preparation, presentation, and flavors are all exquisite. Fun to watch them preparing the food as well. Staff are attentive and thoughtful. We enjoyed the wine pairing this time too.

5/5 stars — one of the most delicious meals I’ve ever had. I love restaurants where you can see the chefs work and Bastion did not disappoint. The chefs were incredible to watch and still found time to individually serve each patron and talk about the tasting menu. It was delightful; I was delighted. I assume Bastion changes the tasting menu seasonally, so if you’re in Nashville in F/W 2021 I highly recommend coming in and giving it a try. See: attached menu. I was particularly fond of the pasta (with rutabaga and apple) and quail (with coca and onion). Could’ve eaten either of those dishes as full, main courses. Beyond delicious. The more interesting items, like matsutake (Google it for the flavor profile, you won’t be disappointed) and boquerones were also equally as delicious and gorgeously presented. Thank you, Bastion! We had a lovely time!

Got a last minute reservation at 9:30pm and went straight here from the airport on day one of vacation. We sat at the bar and had a great dinner. Seems like they're just a bunch of really talented, dedicated young chefs who enjoy making really amazing dishes. Staff heard we were visiting and wrote out a bunch of other dining spots we should check out.

Best meal I've in 2018 so far! Bastion is small modern/inventive restaurant located in the back of a bar. They offer options of a la carte dining for groups of 3 and under, and large format for 4-6. Since it's only 24 seats, tickets/reservations move pretty quickly, highly recommend checking at the beginning of each month. The fare changes on a daily basis depending on what's available. I highly recommend ordering the whole menu while doing a la carte. Standouts were morel mushroom & lamb sausage, maitake & egg yolk, shrimp + 'nduja. We loved everything they had to offer but specifically ordered 2nds of those. Cocktail/wine list is curated well, offering plenty of natural wines and hard to find bottles. If you're in town and serious about a good meal, this is a must. Check the photos below.

Food as performance art is how Conde Naste describes Bastion. I totally agree. Before we sat down for dinner we took in some craft cocktails at the bar. That was an education. We asked some questions which turned into a Ted Talk on the difference between Mezcal and Tequila. He took as much time going through the ingredients in our drinks as he did my son's mocktails. All fascinating. I got through three on the list enjoyed them all. The eight person staff was very attentive and each dish was well explained. While funk music played on the record player, we were treated to symphony of flavors. Definitely heavy on fish. The swordfish was our favorite. The fishroe tart was another standout. The pork was also homerun. Our favorite desert was the suprising cantaloupe three ways. The wine pairing was perfect and worth the cash. Make the time and go way, way out of your way for Bastion if you must

This was an amazing experience for a meal. The ambiance was unique, the service was great, the presentation of food was the best I have had and it was worth the wait get in. Reservations were hard to get. Some of the flavors were out of my comfort zone.

Probably the best fine dining experience I’ve had in Nashville so far. Top tier service, vibe, and food. The pie, halibut, and scallop were standouts!

I don’t know how one place absolutely nails both casual bar and high-end restaurant— but Bastion does both SO WELL. We hit up the bar side regularly for reasonably priced drinks and those insanely good nachos. And if you want to splurge, their restaurant is easily one of the best (if not THE best) dining experiences we have ever had in Nashville! I always recommend Bastion to friends visiting from out-of-town!

A

The dining experience is one for the books. From Alex the sommelier to the outstanding head chef Josh Habiger, everything is finely curated to impress and captivate the palate. Didn't feel hungry or extremely stuffed by the end of the 5th course. The bar side is just as exciting, being more of a standard bar feel with delicious house made nachos topped with pickled onions and olives. Cocktails are standout with twists on old classics. Not too pricey or presumptuous. Love taking friends here when we want a night where we can actually converse instead of screaming at a bar downtown haha.

I consider myself an amateur when it comes to the type of dining experience put on by the team at Bastion, but if I had to sum it up in one word it would be: perfection. From staff, to seating, to atmosphere and not least of all the spectacular tasting menu experience I could not recommend this more. Some of the best food you will find, and certainly top in Nashville.

R

Went to the bar for drinks one night. The bar is supposed to be their more casual space, and it is, but you can still tell it’s so intentionally designed, the service is spot on, and drinks well crafted. Colorful, vibes, and live records spinning behind the bar.

Bastion understands how to make the perfect drink. Bastion, at times, knows how to construct the perfect bite. While not always tying it all together perfectly, it's a memorable, friendly experience, and I'll definitely be back, because their drinks are just too good

The pictures of food will fool you as the restaurant is reservation only starting on Wednesday. However, we still enjoyed the bar and the cocktails were great! The atmosphere is laid back and great vibe.

L

Vibes were great, food was awesome, but not quite super filling and also very seafood heavy which caught my anti-seafood husband off guard (I loved it so no real concerns) However, surely my fault for not reading the fine print, but your deposit when booking online is actually pre-paying for dinner which is absolutely fine except I was unable to swap from my open table card on file to my Chase Sapphire and therefor didnt get to use the dining credit. Truthfully the only reason we booked was for the credit… hence the 4 stars since they were unable to reverse the charge and having to pay that out of pocket really dampened the whole experience. That said, pay close attention if youre planning on laying using your chase dining credit

My friends and I came here tonight and the bouncer and bartender made us very uncomfortable the entire night. As a group of 5 (4 girls, 1 guy), we felt we were being watched from the moment we stepped in. For spending $22 on a drink I would expect the friendliness and lack of respect to be better.
