Great service and good variety on the menu. They also have daily specials. The French onion soup and mushrooms soup were both excellent. The entrance is in the front, it looks like they are closed when you park in their lot which is on the side of the building. Great classy restaurant, we will be back. Will try and save room for dessert next time
We had an amazing anniversary dinner. The food was delicious and the service was wonderful. Highly recommend for a French cuisine experience.
This is one of my favorite places to have lunch. It's so Airy and quiet and the service is top-notch. It feels so fancy but reasonably priced. The food is impeccable. Love bringing a friend here to catch up!
I’ve always loved French cuisine, so visiting Chateau West has been on my list for some time. My husband, his mom, and I finally went for Christmas lunch, and it did not disappoint. First, parking was a breeze with a lot conveniently located next to the restaurant. The service was excellent—our waiter was knowledgeable, polite, and attentive throughout the meal. Appetizers: • Seared Foie Gras: Delicious, especially when paired with the dried fruit in each bite. • Escargot: A classic, well-prepared dish—perfect if you’re a fan of escargot. • Smoked Salmon: Good and well-executed. Entrees: • Duck Breast with French Beans and Potatoes: Perfectly cooked and flavorful. • Blackberry Salmon with Vegetable Risotto • Filet Oscar Desserts: We shared the dessert trio, which included: • Pear Belle Helene: Light and refreshing. • Chocolate Moulleux: Rich and indulgent. • Vanilla Crème Brûlée: Classic and perfectly creamy. I thoroughly enjoyed this experience from the appetizers to the desserts. Chateau West lived up to the hype, and I’m already looking forward to returning. Highly recommend!
If I lived closer to this establishment, I would probably be there every week. Everything that we had was delicious and seasoned extremely well (I hardly used any salt, which is quite unusual for me). French onion soup, smoked salmon, shrimp saffron appetizer and tomato bisque were all incredible, as were the beouf bourginon and grouper special. Creme brulee was one of the best I've ever had, besides my own, of course, which I've been told by many, is the best they've ever had. Definitely recommend this restaurant, as the chefs are excellent and service is very professional.
I was impressed by the upscale ambiance and overall vibe of the place. The decor is stylish and inviting, making it a great spot for a special occasion or a nice night out. I ordered the steak tartare for starters, and while the flavors were on point and the dish was beautifully presented, I was unfortunately surprised to find a bug in the lettuce. It was a bit off-putting, and I expected more attention to detail given the restaurant's upscale nature. Despite this hiccup, the rest of the meal was enjoyable, and the service was attentive and friendly. I would consider giving it another try, as everything else was quite good. Just a suggestion: perhaps a little more diligence in the kitchen could elevate the experience even further.
We went there for my birthday dinner. It was our first time visit. When we arrive around five o’clock, we were the only one. Decoration was not too much, too little just enough to have nice meals. Ordered beef tartar as appetizer, duck for myself, my husband for lamb, risotto to share for side and finally for the trio sampler dessert. Tartar was little over vinegar for me, but still decent amount of meat with toasted baguette. Duck was perfectly prepared. It was very soft and tasty sauce over it. It was on the bed of some long beans and roasted potatoes. Lamb was actually cooked perfect as well. It was so soft and first time I ate that soft lamb. Worth the money!!
We wanted a French Restaurant to celebrate our 42 anniversary since we celebrated our first and a dozen other anniversaries with French food. Being from Texas we were very lucky to find this small, romantic restaurant. The food was fantastic and the service was excellent
I have wanted to come and check out Chateau West since I moved to Hillsboro Village, since I drive by it every time I get off the highway. This cozy restaurant is tucked away right off the highway with plentiful parking and handicap accessible access. Upon entering the restaurant (which looks to offer a small amount of patio seating when the weather is right) you are immediately breath taken by high vaulted ceilings, soft warm light, a bar against the far wall with extensive wine selection, and well dressed staff serving and seating guests at equally well dressed tables. We had a reservation for 2 on a Saturday night at 7pm and probably wouldn’t have had to wait long if we just showed up, but it was nice to be seated immediately. Fresh bread and water is served upon sitting down at your table. Our server’s name was Sam and he was an absolute sweetheart! He catered to our every need with a smile and breezy quips that made us laugh and smile. The menu was a great size and most of the appetizers appealed to me more than the entrees! So my mom and I decided to order a few appetizers, one at a time, very European style! We started with the house smoked salmon. It was tender, perfectly smoky, and complemented by the crème fraiche, capers, and egg. Sam made sure we were ready for our next course before bringing it out which truly made this an experience instead of your normal dinner out. Our second appetizer choice was the goat cheese and fig fondue which was served with baguette bites. The fondue was creamy, perfectly melted and stayed nice and hot with a tea light candle lit beneath the pot. Sam offered to bring us more baguette when we ran out to finish off the fondue, but we knew we had more food coming! So we opted to continue on to the roasted beet salad. It was fresh, crisp, and the fried goat cheese medallions added a perfect hot and crunchy component to this dish. After our appetizers, we decided to split an entree. Between the coq au vin and boeuf bourguignon, Sam recommended the beef, and we were not disappointed! He was kind enough to split our dishes so when we finished, I was thankful for the leftover bread from the beginning of dinner to sop up some of that delicious gravy. At the end, even though we were no longer hungry, I spotted a dessert trio that included vanilla pears, crème brûlée, and a flourless chocolate cake. It was the perfect way to end the night with some sweet little bites! This was an incredible experience, from the great atmosphere and the delicious food all the way to Sam’s excellent service. I cannot wait to come back and try more of the delicious menu! Those oysters are on my list!! Thank you Sam and the Chateau West team 💖
wonderful French restaurant for a quiet dinner with good friends and conversation. wide array of appetizers and main courses, plus wine 🍷 so everyone will find something they like. not trendy, packed or lively... and that's fine too, but quiet dinners are also good.
In summary, an outstanding experience! The restaurant boasted a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere, adorned with elegantly set tables featuring tablecloths and cloth napkins. Our culinary journey began with a delectable fondue appetizer, blending honey, Brie, and truffle oil. Moving on to the main courses, the Bouef Bourguignon showcased slow-roasted beef shoulder in burgundy wine, creating a mouthwatering flavor. Equally delightful was the Duck Chambord, a roasted duck breast with Chambord, fresh berries, Brabant potatoes, and carrots. The side of mixed vegetables complemented the meal perfectly. The grand finale featured a Trio of desserts—poached pear Helene, Creme brûlée, and a chocolate torte with ice cream—a perfect ending to a delightful culinary experience. Chef's kiss to the goodness we savored!
The Escargot was amazing simmering in butter and garlic, and all of our entrees were AMAZING as well! I have since recommended several clients and friends to chateau west and we will certainly be back! Great atmosphere and great food! Wine selection was decent as well 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Even though our server had a table of 20+ women, he was great at getting us food! We had the honey and Brie fondue and lamb chops. They also added a little note!
Amazing. We were a group of 10. The service was impeccable. Our waiter streered is to all the best choices. We were able to take our time and enjoy the moment and food. Never rushed. It was worth the money.
Love it! I highly recommend going there. Real authentic French food that tastes just as in France. Very good and attentive service. The entrées came all at once, so that we were able to start eating together. Thank you for managing so well! We had our wedding lunch here and we're allowed to bring in our own wedding cake.
We stopped here out of convenience to where we were going and it turned out to be a great find! I would love to get back here for dinner. The quiche is one of the best I’ve ever had. Topped with melted cheese, it just melted in your mouth. Beautiful crusty crust added to the flavor. They have a beautiful menu. Can’t wait to come back!
Had a great lunch at Chateau West. Service was exceptional and we really liked the decor and ambiance. My salmon with blackberry sauce was awesome so I recommend that dish if you go. Best cooked fish I've had in ages. Wife loved the Brie with honey fondue appetizer. Very enjoyable meal!
I went to Chateau West to celebrate a birthday, and I was absolutely blown away. Not only by the unbelievable foods, but also the incredible service and peaceful ambiance! I still dream about this food every other day, and we’re counting down the days until I go back!
Wow! Took us way too long to discover this place. Fantastic in every respect, service, ambiance, selection, quality. It is pricey as many French resturants are but it is NOT overpriced. Escargot, lamb, chocolate moulleux. We spent $140 but that included 20% tip and tax. We had 1 appetizer, 2 glasses of wine (an excellent beaujolais), 2 entrees, and 2 desserts. Bon Appetit! Been back several times and couldn't be happier. Oh yeah, a resturant in middle TN that knows how to make an omelet! Check it out for bruch. Excellent.
A most wonderful place to have a new unique and romantic date. But very open to anyone or family too. Food was so delicious and did so well for having there staff not show up our very kind and sweet server Rebecca informed us. Dessert was simple but amazing too. It is higher prices than many might be used too but if you have special mood and money night destination in mind then visit with them.
An intimate setting with flavors to please the palate with excellent service. Appetizers, drinks, and main course were served in timely manner. Alas did not stay for dessert due to time constraints which gives me a reason to return. All in the group of six thanked me for great restaurant selection. Went on a Friday night when restaurant was completely full. Thank you Chateau West for the memorable experience!!
Loved the ambiance and cuisine. Both the Beef Bourgunon and the Lamb were excellent both with bold flavors. We also ordered a side a mixed veggies which were pretty simple. The pic is a spinoff of what we ordered so don't ask for this. Long story. Highly suggest the entrees we had. We topped it off with a table-side prepared banannas fosters. Taste was excellent. Just to be a little picky the presentation choice IMO was subpar for the cost. The ice cream was added too soon causing 3/4 of it to melt before it hit the table (table-side prep). However this did not overshadow the excellent experience. The staff was present, kind and accommodating.
This was my first experience with French cuisine, and I must say I was very impressed! I ordered the blackberry salmon and it was delicious! Everyone at our table seemed to be happy with what they ordered. One of the girls in our group has recently been to France and she said that her boeuf bourguignon dish was very legit. We received great service. I want to go back for dinner, so that I have a more expansive menu and order the spiced lamb chops, and perhaps a dessert.
Delicious French cuisine. We had cheese plate, French onion soup, and i had Coq au Vin. My friend had an exceptional pork chop. Service was on point and wine had good selection. Hidden gem!
When you want to try French food done right in west Nashville go to Chateau West. From cheese to dessert and in between. You can't go wrong with any dish you get.
Wonderful French restaurant. The service is very good. Knowledgeable staff. The food is very good and incredibly fresh. The bouillabaisse is about the best I've had. Escargot seemed a little over done to me. The beouf buorguignon is very tender and delicious. The prices are not over the top. I recommend this restaurant for a lot of reasons.
We went to the Chateau West on a Tuesday noon for lunch. My wife had a crepe and I had the burger with blue cheese. Both were excellent. The service was good on time and polite. I can certainly recommend Chateau West
Incredible meal with authentic French dishes. Our server was fantastic. Highly recommended to anyone wanting an upscale meal with professional service in a calm setting.
I’ve always loved French cuisine, so visiting Chateau West has been on my list for some time. My wife her mom, and I finally went for valentines day and it did not disappoint. I didn't really want to go here but my wife wants to try it. So, we went. The food was excellent. Portions were on the smaller side but after fondue and bread, it was perfect. The beef and filet and potatoes were really good. The service was outstanding too. I don't understand why I see a handful of 1 star reviews. Good, service and environment were all great. I think the best part overall was the dessert. Profiteroles, the trio, bananas foster were all so good. We will definitely be back.
Loved my experience here! It is a nice, classy layout with amazing service! Our waiter was great and always attentive to our table. The food was especially amazing- rich in flavor and fresh. Highly recommend the shrimp saffron! Great choice for anyone looking for something different but tasty!
This place would have a waiting list if it were located in the Gulch or Downtown. Luckily for that reason, Chateau West is not pretentious. The quality of food for the price is unmatched. My wife and I had a wonderful Anniversary dinner with perfectly cooked Lamb Chops, Filet Oscar and Escargot. Our server Tugay, was excellent as well..gratuitous, knowledgeable and timely. We will definitely be back to try more offerings and we would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone..also, free parking!
The Chateau is a breath of fresh air in a Nashville food scene that seems to emphasize pizazz over excellent service and a solid command of a single cuisine. Every dish I have had here in the last seven years has been perfectly cooked. The ambiance is that of a real French restaurant with crisp white table cloths, low lights, no intrusive music, and superb service. The staff here know the menu backward and forward and can give meaningful suggestions rather than just pushing a special to clean out the fridge. And - as above - the food is always spot on. WIthout a doubt the most legit French restautant in Nashville!
I went here while visiting Nashville with family, the fondue is definitely worth the visit! There aren’t a lot of nonalcoholic drink options, which is to be expected for a French place, the salad was very good and the chicken soup of the day as well. It’s a great little spot for dinner. Even though it’s not the highest quality French food I’ve ever had, It was very tasty and I would definitely recommend!
The service and atmosphere were great. I highly recommend the escargot. The mussels were TERRIBLE. The steak and scallops were great and so was the dessert. Overall everything was good and I would recommend.
I wish I could give 4.6 stars as overall the dining experience here was really excellent. The restaurant is a legitimate chateau style building where you will dine in a long open hall. Despite that we felt very cozy and easy to have a conversation amongst the 4 of us even with a large crowd. The food is classic French. Nothing new gastronomically here it's giving what my grandparents would have eaten if they had the money to eat at a very fancy restaurant when they were young. This is certainly a feature not a bug I loved having such well executed classics to try. Start with a delicious crusty baguette or better yet upgrade to the fondue. I'm not aware of many places you can still get fondue and here it's reasonably priced and delicious with a delightful string pull of honey and truffle flavored cheese. Our table really had fun with this. The salads and apps were decently sized and had clever touches with figs candied pecans and interesting splashes of sauces to liven things up. I was a disappointed with the French onion soup the croutons on top were totally sogged out and the cheese was lacking but it was inexpensive so no great loss. Entrees were a grouper on special, scallops, and beef bourguignon. Portions were enough for one but a bit small to split. The grouper was done perfectly and on a risotto that was to die for. Check the price point though because a branzino was on the menu for about half the price. The scallops don't need much description except to say they were perfectly cooked and the beef bourguignon has to be on your must try list. Just an excellent depth of roasted flavors with fork tender veggies and seasoned soft to the bite beef. The dessert was an average creme brulee and a decent but underperforming pear chocolate and ice cream situation. (With a candle for a birthday celebration). The way to go is the crepe Suzette. Prepared table side with a showy flambe; when the neighboring table ordered it we were instantly jealous. The wine list is extensive and surprisingly unfussy they certainly have some French classics but also typical grocery store type bottles that are priced ok for a restaurant. Service wise we felt it was slow in fact European I'd say, checked on a few times but mostly left to our own devices. We did have to wait far too long between Entrees and being offered desert but our servers sweetness and humour when she was around saved that portion of the evening. Overall I'd certainly come back perhaps especially with some out of town parents or grandparents who might appreciate being away from the loud bustle of downtown hotel restaurants or flashy Gulch dining locations. It's also a wonderful date night location for two folks that would like to have a more intimate time out. That said a party of maybe twenty was also having an excellent time so don't sleep on bringing a large group here perhaps as a business dinner. Oh and plentiful free parking!
The sweetest host greeted me at the door and seated me at a table. She was very accommodating (took me to the bar but realized we can put 2 tables together to seat my party). Our server was good but there was something off that the whole table felt... The food was delicious - we tried all different things- smoked salmon, saffron shrimp, duck, beef, the seafood. Two things stick with me - the lobster bisque - did not care for it , not a piece of lobster in it, and the Tennessee version of ille flottant. Do not order those - everything else is a good pick! Recommend!
Food was good but nothing so special that I feel compelled to return. Lamb chops were tasty. Pork chop was okay. Could have benefited from a marinade or brine so it was more tender. Roasted vegetables were nothing special. However, the spinach bacon salad was quite delicious.
We went for the steak tartare and it was awesome. We enjoyed it tremendously - even more than our entrees. Next time we visit we'll both order the steak tartare as our entrees and enjoy some French wine along with it.
Delicious French food and a great atmosphere. Make a reservation. Our server was great as well. Picked a wine for me and all. Just visiting, wanted to get out of the city for dinner. Well worth it.
It was a quiet on the Monday night we dropped in. We enjoyed the fondue, catch of the day (grouper) and the beef bourguignon.
We loved the food here! We shared oysters, fondue, filet, scallops and desserts. All were excellent! The service was slow at the start but overseas very good. Rather than playing bluegrass music some French bistro music would have made all the difference to the experience! Keep it French!
Had a really nice meal here with my wife. Beef Bourguignon and Blackberry Salmon, both very tasty. Dessert choices were very good. Our service was perfect. We'd definitely eat here again. Easy parking on-site. Just outside of downtown, easy to get to.
Nice atmosphere. Small bar. French seating on left. 4 tops in the rest of the place. Nice, rounded menu and wine list, though limited "good" wines by the glass Seared Foie Gras was excellent. Worth a return trip with a nice reduction and some greens to balance the fat. Duck breast was a small, over cooked, portion over unevenly cooked potatoes and the presentation somewhat institutional with the string beans. Trio of desserts was excellent, though the poached pears would be better served with creme Chantilly rather than ice cream. Glad I did not order the cheese platter that the guy next to me ordered. It had Spanish cheeses, no brie or anything soft. Cheeses were drizzled with some strange stuff and looked like it was off the child menu! Wait staff was amateurish considering it is a French restaurant. Myself and the folks next to me at the bar were asked if we wanted to see a dessert menu even though we were not served our entrees yet! My glass of wine was topped off from a different bottle too!
Maybe it was an off night…will not be returning. Went to celebrate our anniversary. Very disappointed. Server and the service was fine, but the food was honestly terrible and that says a LOT coming from us because we’ve both worked in the restaurant industries and understand how it can be. Not long after we sat down THE CEILING LEAKED water all over our table so we had to move to a different table. Awkward. We started with the french onion soup. It was actually the best part of the entire meal. I got the blackberry salmon with vegetable risotto… yet another mistake. The salmon was crunchy? The risotto seemed like it came out of the freezer. My girlfriend ordered chicken with the vegetables… a stew came out? With bacon? She doesn’t eat pork and the menu didn’t say anything about pork. My drink didn’t appear to have any alcohol in it.. after the ceiling leaked all over us, it could’ve at least had alcohol in it. I paid $107 for what was quite literally the worst experience we’ve ever had together. We left early, didn’t eat over half of our food. Still tipped 20%. Wanted to ask for literally anything to be taken off the bill just so we could justify going to get dessert somewhere after but we couldn’t wait to get out fast enough. The only reason this isn’t 1 star is because our server was very friendly. Not sure how the reviews are so high. This was a waste of time, money, and our anniversary.
I was very excited about going to Chateau West with my wife for Valentine’s Day this year, but we were very disappointed for a handful of reasons. While the atmosphere was great, and it was packed out showing that this restaurant has a great reputation, everything fell apart for our experience shortly after we ordered. For context, we were given a restricted menu for a 3 course meal priced at $85/person. This wasn’t a huge deal, but it was clear that this wasn’t advertised well as it was a surprise to us and every other table in our section of the restaurant who asked the same questions about ordering other items. Our experience went downhill as our appetizers came out cold, but then our waitress disappeared for the next hour and we couldn’t even tell her about it. The tables on both sides of us were seated afterwards, and we both served their entrées AND desserts before we even got our entrées. After over an hour, our waitress appeared and apologized for the kitchen “losing our ticket” and says “they will cook your meals again right now.” This seemed generous, until my lamb chops that had apparently just been cooked came out completely cold. So I sent them back and had to wait another 15 minutes to get the good that I ordered an hour and a half earlier, while the tables next to us were wrapping up to go home. Then, it got worse as the dessert that my wife ordered ran out so she had to choose something else, which probably wouldn’t have happened if we got our orders in time. Finally, the worst part was that the waitress handed off the check, didn’t apologize for the sub par experience, and didn’t comp one thing on our ticket. I was very disappointed. I understand it was a holiday and a busy night, but the whole point of the restricted menu was to avoid these exact problems, but it couldn’t compensate for poor service.
Beef bourguignon was basically $27 beef soup with 2 tiny pieces of meat. After bringing it to their attention, which is rare for me but this was just unacceptable, the server seemed annoyed & it took forever for them to correct. My father was a restaurant owner and always said if it isn't the norm, the owner would rather you let them know than not come back. Unfortunately we will not be returning after the poor reception of our very legitimate complaint.
We have been coming here for a few years for valentines day. I had oysters, duck and chocolate for the meal. Ive had this the year before as well. Tonight was a bad experience. I am a pacific islander. I know seafood doesnt come fresh especially to Nashville but I give it a chance. The oyster app was two pieces. The first piece was amazing. I scarfed it down. I bit into the second one and oh boy...it tasted rotten. Like I almost threw up. I wish they could pull the camera to see me spit that out so fast. It kind of ruined my meal...kind of. I know some thing are out of their control but I think a simple check of the seafood would be a good idea. Even smelling it you could tell. The waiter was kind and offered me a salad. It helped but all I could think about was that oyster. The duck was delicious. They swapped my husband and I plate but we switched even after I asked the lady if this was the well done duck and she confirmed.I do want to go back but honestly that oyster really disappointed me. We didnt ask for a discount. We paid full and a tip.
If I could give this 0 stars I would. I recently visited this restaurant on Valentine's Day and received some of the worst service I've ever seen. We were sat in the back room where it was so quiet, no music, you couldn't talk without the whole room hearing you. Our waiter did not greet us for 20 minutes, he never checked in on our food or asked if we needed anything, we received bread 45 minutes later after having to ask for it. We did not order drinks, just water that was already on the table, and it took a whole hour to receive a refill. I couldn't even ask for water because he would just drop the food and run off. Our waiter actually came to deliver our food, both water cups empty, and nothing. 30 minutes later we got more water. We were ignored the entire time and then charged 20% tip automatically for a 2 person table? No, this was not listed on the menu, no we were not informed about the automatic tip beforehand, just added to the bill. When I made the reservation, there was no "special valentine's" dinner menu, so we assumed it would be the regular menu. Nope, we arrived to a $85 per person pre selected menu (which is normal for large holidays) but it was not marketed anywhere and we went there for a specific appetizer so that was a little disappointing but not the end of the world. If you're looking to spend $85 per person on dinner, do not go here. The shrimp entree was ice cold but was supposed to be warm and even served in a hot dish, the salad came with burnt croutons, only 2 croutons to be exact. Both steaks were cooked wrong, but the server was nowhere to be found and it already took an hour to get the food. The table next to us actually got up to find the server numerous times and ended up storming out, I regret not leaving myself. All in all, I've never had such terrible service, I don't usually complain or write reviews but this restaurant needed one. Save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere.
I was extremely disappointed with my experience here. Every single item we ordered was about twice the price listed on their website, which felt very misleading. On top of that, the portions were surprisingly small for what we were charged. Paying double the advertised price for such little food is unacceptable. If prices have increased, the website should be updated immediately so customers know what they’re actually going to pay.
