As a long-time patron of Adobe, I can confidently attest that it remains my top choice for Tex-Mex in New Braunfels. The staff consistently demonstrates a warm and welcoming approach to service, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. The ambiance is calming, rendering every meal a delight. Fresh chips and salsa are always served promptly upon seating, and the staff regularly checks in to ensure our needs are met. The menu showcases a variety of fresh food and drink options. Additionally, Adobe provides a private room for large events and a bar area.

Have been coming here forever but it had been a minute and I hyped it to my family. It did not disappoint. We got the large queso and added a bowl of the salsa to it. It was insanely good and honestly more than we needed, but we ate it all by the end. The taco salad with steak fajita was good. The chicken verde was amazing and gluten free. We had the #1 - 2 chicken and verde enchiladas, beef taco and a chalupa - darn delicious. We had the #2 - 2 cheese enchiladas with carne and a beef taco. Side note, the refried beans are legit the best I’ve ever had. The beans I’ve been looking for. The beans dreams are made of. The rice was fluffy and so so good too. The place is big and it was crowded but got us seated in less than 15 minutes. Service was awesome and food served quick.

The best part of writing this review is that when we embarked on our trip to the National Cemetery at Fort Sam Houston from NW Austin, we had never heard of Adobe Cafe, and we hadn't planned on taking I-35 to San Antonio and going through New Braunfels. After a missed turn, we ended up in Kyle and we just jumped on 35 to save time. We were hungry and wanted to grab a quick bite, and then eat dinner later in SA. I asked my girlfriend to Google top-rated Mexican restaurants on our route, and among a handful that popped up, Adobe Cafe was on the list. They were all within two miles of our location so we stayed on our route deliberating where to go. We could see 35 to our left so I told my girl that maybe we should just hop back on 35 and eat after visiting the cemetery. She agreed and just as we were about to turn left towards the feeder road, my girlfriend saw Adobe Cafe a hundred yards away on the right. We looked at each other and said, "let's stop there". The rest is history. There are no shortage of Mexican and Tex-Mex restaurants in Austin, but we want to be wowed by the food, the service -- all of it. We sat at the bar and Bailey was our server. She was wonderful. Then came the fantastic chalupas and the grilled Carnitas tacos! Oh, man...over the top quality, preparation and final result. It couldn't have been more delicious! You wowed us, Adobe Cafe, and we can't wait to come back.

This was my first time to Adobe Cafe and after 2 years in NB my search is over for the best Tex-Mex in town! Food was hot, steak was tender, and everything was delicious! Server was incredibly friendly - smiled like she actually enjoyed working there! Also impressed that every table was occupied, but food was delivered quickly and the place looked clean and organized!

I can't post a picture because it would just be an empty plate. I just finished the best burrito I've ever tasted. The Grande Fajita Burrito (beef) was amazing. Wonderful friendly staff made it even better. If I'm ever back in town I'll walk back in just to get a fresh warm tortilla. Amazing.

First time and the food was great & service too.planning on going again. I had the vegetarian enchiladas and it was so delicious. My husband had beef fajita tacos plate, the fajitas were soft and taste great. Over all everything was great.

Tex-Mex for the soul. I live out of state now, so scratching my tex-Mex itch is essential every time I visit. Adobe Cafe knocked it out of the park with their cheese enchiladas. My mom got the garlic shrimp and thoroughly enjoyed them as well.

Update: we just went last weekend and even though the food is great and the wait staff is always amazing, the bathrooms could really use an upgrade, they are pretty run down. Absolutely delicious! It was our first time here but definitely won't be the last!

The mushrooms are the best I have had in a long time. Perfectly seasoned batter. Yum!! Chips and salsa are outstanding and very flavorful. The Nachos, yum! Perfect amount of beans and cheese. Spinach and mushrooms enchiladas are delicious. Beef fajita tacos are tender and tasty. I didn't get a picture of the chicken fried steak. It's Hugh!! And so good. If you live in New Braunfels, you know about this place. Take a little drive. Check out the menu. Something for everyone. You won't be disappointed. Service was outstanding!

Very enjoyable meal today at Adobe Cafe. I ordered the Healthy Chicken which is a grilled chicken breast with grilled veggies. I asked to substitute my rice for charro beans, which they did for no extra charge. Everything was tasty and service was attentive.

As stated above everything is good, but it's been better. The food quality in the past year has declined, and the prices have gone up. Some of the servers are excellent, one or two are among the best we've found in family restaurants in this price range. But currently, everything is good, not great. Having said that, we'll come back because the food is fairly dependable, and the service is fast.

Food was ok. I ate the the grande fajita burrito. The meat was ok inside the burrito, did not like the sauce, and did not like the rice. Both had a funny taste. The cheese sauce for chips was a little pricey and way too runny, almost like water. Our waitress was nice and very quick with our drinks and food came relatively quick as well for a Sunday dinner. My wife ate the cheese enchiladas which she said was good but she didn’t like the rice either. The complimentary chips were good as was the salsa. I do think it was a little overpriced for what we got. $45 for 2 people and it wasn’t food I would brag about or even say that I would eat again.

Birthday-Cake-Bringer Diners Beware! My family and I chose Adobe Cafe to celebrate a birthday. Unfortunately, our experience started off poorly. Before we could even say hello, the hostess immediately told us we were NOT allowed to bring in a birthday cake and followed it up with, “Didn’t you see the sign on the door?” The delivery was rude and unwelcoming, especially for first-time guests who wouldn’t necessarily know this policy. A simple, polite explanation would have gone a long way. Instead, we were made to feel uncomfortable right from the start. When we spoke to the manager, Marcus, the policy was blamed on the health department. If that were truly the case, you’d expect every other restaurant in the area to have the exact same rule, which clearly isn’t true. As a lifelong New Braunfels resident, this left a bad impression, and we’ll likely choose other local restaurants that are more accommodating and welcoming for celebrations.

I’ve been here many of times and had great service and great food today I experienced one of the worst service and food quality that I’ve ever had. The server only came to my table 3 times. I had to wait to get more chips and salsa cause she didn’t come back until after my food was given Explained to her that the beef fajitas was super tough. Nobody came. Nobody said nothing asked if she could get, did she get my points ignored me like I was. Nobody drove over an hour to come here and biggest mistake of my day. Could’ve got better service at a 711 very very disappointed.

Not sure how this place has a high rating. Parking lot is a nightmare. Got our drink order wrong. Ordered a Tex-Mexini and the shaker was full of ice and it was still only filled ⅔. Little glass with a big ice in it as well. Made 1 and ½ fills. Ordered $17 Pork Carnitas and half the plate was toppings. Caritas were burnt. Beans came 5 min later. I guess the old people rate this place off "character" and dont realize how bad they are getting ripped. *wow. What a way to reply. Justify your mistakes. We did tell the server the issue with the drink and it was fixed. I shouldn't have to complain or send crap back. For the price, maybe do a better job.
