Oyster Bar has been a part of downtown New Braunfels for over 20 years, and for good reason. I can't believe I haven't left a review of this awesome place yet. I had their red snapper ceviche today though and it was incredible. I absolutely recommend Oyster Bar as a mandatory stop for anyone from out of town.
Only reason this place got 5 stars, is because I couldn't give them 10. This was our first time there. Katelynn (hope I spelled thet right) was truly attentive, diligent, and tenacious,, with keeping up with us (our Scotch glasses were always full)! The Gulf Oysters were huge and satisfying, I had the Ahi tuna which was plentiful and fulfilling. I will be going to this place again, and chalking it up as one of my new favorites. Thank you all the staff whom I didnt encounter that made my visit incredible. Truly AWSOME.
Love Oyster bar we go often the drinks are flowing, food is on point. They added new items as well. Great thing about NBTX the dive bars have great food!! Get the breakfast shot!!
Alfredo is an awesome bartender. Friendly and fun to talk to.
Shout out to our server, Daisy!!!! Excellent service! Very nice person! Thank you!
Always a stop going through New Braunfels. Breakfast shot & a Gonzo are my go to drinks.
food was great, service was better! bre was so attentive and charismatic, we'll be coming back just for her!!! next time you visit i highly suggest requesting her.
Personal favorite of mine! Been coming here before they expanded! Great drinks, great food and environment! You must try the breakfast shot! Just do it... And the sliders and crab dip are out of this world! Great day time hang out. Weekends after about 930-10 can get busy and loud. Great staff and management! Def recommend!
This place is my local favorite! It’s a dive you can eat oysters at. Casual and fun… candied bacon sliders and the breakfast shot is a favorite for sure. The wings are great, and so is the staff! We go here often and it’s always consistent.
Who would think a dive bar would have such amazing food?! The fish tacos are great here and don't forget to try the breakfast shot, it's a must have and is so unique. The service is always great as well. A New Braunfels classic!
My Sweetie and I have been coming here for years and the food and service are literally the example of small town service. Weather the server remembers us or not we are always greeted as an old friend., and the food is above what you can ever expect from any pub. Today I have no service on my phone so I came to work and get some sliders (top notch BTW). The food is as good as you can get from a city bistro, and as good as any I've had from Park City Utah to down town Austin. Always a fan and hype this place at every chance. Things to try are Fish Tacos, Deviled eggs, SLIDERS as mentioned and just about everything else. The Tuna is second best in town and its still the best I had ever had until I came here.
I always evaluate Food, Service and Cleanliness for restaurants. The Food exceeded our expectations... I mean, REALLY good food! The service did not stand out as great, it did not stand out for being bad either. It was serviceable service. Not saying it needs improvement or anything, it just didn't stand out. Cleanliness was kind of a tricky one. The place didn't stand out for being particularly clean or dirty, BUT... Their Playlist they were rocking made the experience along with the food... A 5 star trip! Well done guys!
Caesar dressing was excellent. Crab cake was mostly bread crumbs, but the horseradish sauce was excellent. Seafood dip was excellent. Sweet potato waffle fries were sooo crispy! Cold slaw was excellent!
So I tried this place with the wife since she like Oysters and it was the only place close enough that I could find on a Sunday. We went during the afternoon this place is a Bar so not the atmosphere we would normal go in. But the place was fairly empty and I had to check to make sure they even serve food because no one was eating. Our waiter assured us the food was great so we ordered Broiled oysters for the wife and 10 wings with fries for me. I did parmesan and honey BBQ I believe half and half. The wings and the fries were really good. The fries had just enough crunch to them and with the ranch was awesome. The wife loved the oysters as well. If you just want good food come early and you can avoid the drinking crowd. I’m not sure what time this place stops letting minors in but the door says 21 and up only but kids were inside so I’m assuming sometime at night that changes. I’m not the best at city parking but this place does have some parking in the back you just have to drive up the road and circle back around.
Overall, I had a great experience at this establishment. The food and drinks were delicious and the atmosphere was lively. However, the music was a bit too loud for my liking and it was difficult to hold a conversation at times. The service was decent, but it seemed like they were understaffed and could have used more help. Despite these minor issues, I would still recommend this place for a fun night out with friends.
We went here and they had great drink specials. The food was excellent. There wasn't anything we tried that we didn't like. The artichoke spinach dip was the star of the show. I'm not sure where they get their ships but they are delicious. Drinks were reasonably priced. We had a fantastic time! Highly recommend!
Great food great service I have a nice date night there
Cool place! Great food! Bertender was very good! I'll be back!
Had some friends come in town last weekend, they LOVED the food and service! The OB is always fantastic!!!!!
I got the Cesar salad with fried oysters and my husband got the fried catfish both were amazing! The oysters were HUGE and the catfish was light and crispy coming from Mississippi were also skeptical about our catfish they really hit it on the nose. I normally take pictures but we were STARVING it was gone. The atmosphere is so friendly everyone was amazing. 10/10 would come back again!
The oyster bar is a great place to go in downtown New Braunfels. The food is good! This has two bar areas, as well as seating. There are also pool tables, darts and shuffleboard. They are famous for their breakfast shot, I attached a picture of it. The oyster shots are also really good! Definitely recommend this place.
Best drinks and service!! Breakfast shot is AMAZING
Went here last night. Service was initially a bit slow but they were pretty slammed. Got better later. Food was very good and my gf really liked her Bloody Mary. Got the crab dip starter, some premium oysters on the half shell , and seafood chowder. They knocked them all out of the park. Will be going back.
Went here for my birthday with a group of friends, and it did not disappoint at all! We started off with adult beverages, which were made good and cold! Then we moved onto their famous breakfast shot, and those were amazing! (Ended up having two rounds of them)! The staff was friendly and attentive, I highly recommend this place, and we will definitely be back! You need to try this place!
Good service, cold drinks, decent pool scene old-school atmosphere and the food is pretty good too. Best parking in town, can't start a crawl without the oyster bar. Get a breakfast shot and don't look back.
We are hosting a Galentine’s event for our SATX Moms Social and they have been extremely accommodating. Can't wait to have our event here!
If you’re new to the area definitely come see Alfredo here at the bar on sundays, he made the entire experience an amazing one with his hospitality and customer service, he even taught us black jack!
The wings and the dip here are amazing. Staff is friendly and attentive. Definitely on our rotation of places we go to.
The BEST service around! Ask for Alfredo, he will make sure you are taken care of! Definitely recommend the grape shot
Edgar was on point. We celebrated my mom’s 60th birthday he handled our difficult party with ease. Highly recommended him and the rest of the bar staff. Ask for Edgar you will not be disappointed .
I loved the look of this place. The food was really good. My oysters on the half shell were really good and those were just the standard oysters. My kids loved their food as well. If you like oysters I highly recommend.
Visited The Oyster Bar for lunch on 12/13. Started off with the herb butter broiled oysters, Little Bear oysters from the premium section (which I believe rotates) and their Bloody Gonzo for the drink. The herb oysts were good but lacked that flavor wow factor I hope for with dining out. The description for the Little Bears was spot on and they were terrific. Also a great oyst for those who do not care for the brininess. As for the Gonzo, not a fan of heavily decorated bloody marys but, that's my age talkin and I get the visual goal behind it. With that said, didn't mind this one at all after starting to drink and eat the decor. Was one of the best marys I've had; great flavor along with the flavor of the decor which also complimented the drink (and much better than McAdoo's mary monstrosity). Now, on to the Moonlight Bay oysts. As a Gulf Coast country kid many seasons ago, we had two terms for brininess; normal and extra. Probably why the description for these oysts threw me off. Was expecting more brine but the level (personal taste opinion en route) was absolutely perfect! Didn't overpower but complimented and allowed all the other flavors (including a light touch of sweetness) to come through for beautiful oyst wonder! So much in fact, I ordered quite a few more. Alas, my thumb is getting tired so I'm going to speed this along. Ordered 3 or 4 more different drinks. Each one was terrific. Ordered the hot seafood dip which has a great flavor wow factor. The young lady who served me was perfect; great personality, not pushy, we both had to ask each other to repeat ourselves and both didn't mind, allowed me to enjoy all of the ocean and liquor goodness. Pass along my apologies for forgetting her name. The Oyster Bar is so close to perfect. Could get there if they'd lower the music volume and add oysters Rockefeller to the menu. By some small miracle you decide to do so, don't make a fake Rockefeller like Mcadoo's. Include the dry white wine. Makes all the difference. Now, I'm going to ice my thumb.
Never been and we loved it! Daisy was great, loved the seafood dip and meatballs. Broiled Parmesan oysters were a bit salty, but still good. We’ll be back!
Oysters and Bloody Marys are a great start on Saturday and Sunday. Great bar, good music games on TVs and great service. Best wings and Tuna too. Breakfast shots for all!
Daisy was amazing, her service rocked. Oysters were off the shell great! A must try don't miss out Daisy knows how to pour shots and is a mixologist guru!
I stopped in at the Oyster Bar in New Braunfels during a busy dinner rush and was blown away by the service. Even with a packed house, we had our food on the table within 20 minutes of sitting down. Daisy, our server, deserves a huge shout-out she was attentive and made sure everything ran smoothly from start to finish. The food itself didn’t disappoint either. The catfish was crispy and flavorful, the crab cakes had the perfect balance of seasoning and texture, and the hammerhead oysters were a surprise highlight especially impressive considering they were out of season. Overall, between the quality food and Daisy’s top-notch service, this spot is absolutely worth a visit. I’ll definitely be coming back.
It is seat yourself when we walked in and the place was packed. We did not wait that long for a table. Service was quick, we had our main waiter but 3 other people brought stuff to the table. We got a chips and salsa, large salad that we split, fried oyster basket, and grilled fish tacos. Chips came out HOT and they were seasoned. Salad was fresh and crunchy. They made a mistake and brought out something other than the tacos. They told us what happened and we understood and waited for them to make them. So glad what we waited.. cooked and seasoned perfectly with an amazing tasty coleslaw. The oyster basket was delicious and hot. To my taste it had too much breading on the oysters. Very great place to come and get a drink at the full bar, sit inside or outside and relax listening to music.
Well, I got so excited when the wings came that I forgot to take before photos... so here is the aftermath. SOOO GOOD!! I got the Hot Buffalo. No so hot that I couldn't eat them. We also got the crispy sweet potato waffle fries. I typically don't like those in general, but these were fantastic!! Service was top notch, as always and love the atmosphere. Oyster Bar, see you soon :)
We love the oyster bar!!! Phenomenal oysters both the premium raw and the broiled herb butter oysters were sooo good and we also got the crab dip. Sooooo tasty!!! I highly recommend their spicy bloody mary and definitely the breakfast shot!!! We loved KK, Tim and Ranger! They are awesome bartenders.
Great service! The young man was very energetic, attentive and accommodating. I had their oyster poor boy with fries and added ginger coleslaw. The oysters were nicely fried with a mix of cornmeal and flour? It was not over cooked and they were some pretty large oysters. The ginger coleslaw was good and interesting, I would recommend it. My husband had their blackened chicken sandwich, came with jalapeño cheese and guacamole. I will definitely be back to try something else on the menu.
Food was delicious. The oysters were huuuuge! Oyster shooters were impeccable and made for a fun start to our night. The service was great. Servers and bartenders did perfect. My husband and I can't wait to come back we had so much fun. Food and drinks were on point! Prices are reasonable and the bar had a relaxed cool vibe. They have the best deviled eggs I have ever tried! :)
My husband and I got the artichoke and spinach cheese dip, along with the grilled fish tacos. The tacos were the best we have had in New Braunfels yet. A little too loud for us, but it is a bar. The lemon drop martini was tasty. Our water was Liam V and he was an awesome waiter....not in your face but very attentive. Will definitely be back for the fish tacos.
The food was good! (found out I am not a fan of oysters, but I’m also not a fan of seafood/fish to begin with lol). The Candied Bacon Sliders were SO good, we well as the fries. The chips and salsa were also amazing. My boyfriend loved the catfish! The server was super amazing and sweet (wish I knew her name!) The restaurant was clean and cold on a hot summer day.
The bar type atmosphere, nothing special with that. Went with my father to enjoy a light lunch. We ordered the blue crab dip and oysters on half shelves. The crab dip was delicious, and the oysters were a nice size and fresh. Our waiter was very attentive, we came in right after the brunch crowd.
Pretty much exactly what you want from a local dive bar. The food is good, the oysters were clean, the service is good... only thing is that while ordering multiple margaritas they all came out different colors so drink consistency can be better. That won't keep me away though... and it shouldn't keep you either!
Went here for a date, we wanted oysters, they had a good selection of different cooking methods for oysters but they didn’t have different types of oysters. The service was ok, sat at the bar due to no one greeting us when we walked in. First time being here was a little awkward cause we didn’t know you seated yourself and no one told us that so we just found a spot open at the bar. Wish we were greeted when we came in to at least know what we should do.
Food was excellent and service was friendly. Had the Fried Oyster Basket - oysters were huge and perfectly fried... crispy on the outside, warm and tender on the inside (not overcooked). Also had the Broiled Oysters - very very good. Their oysters are fresh and tasty. They also have a full service bar, serve cocktails and have a decent beer selection. The interior is pretty basic and that's OK with me. This place has been in New Braunfels for almost 20 years and hopefully many more.
Great service. Food is so-so. I feel it is over priced for what you get. UPDATE: Just appetizers and some drinks. We had a couple dozen oysters (which were fine) and the herb broiled oysters. The herb broiled oysters were just a little bland. We would come back. Again, service was fantastic.
The food was pretty decent. I had the fried shrimp basket which was good. Got a half dozen of oysters and they were just alright. The restaurant was playing music but all you heard was bass, and the waitress seemed weird.
Came in for a quick pint and enjoyed the perfect weather outside in the sidewalk seating. Service was very prompt and friendly. I'll be back with my appetite next time I'm in town to try the delicious looking food.
Food and service were great. Still trying to get used to the NB parking. Had the blackened chicken pasta. Great portion, and great flavor.Gonna try those wings next time
The food was incredible. Had the oysters on the half shell. And burger with fries . Food was awesome ! Service wasn't that great. Hard to get anyone to take an order. Hard to get refills of our drinks , and we were sitting at the bar . Even though they weren't very busy. I would go back , but only for the food . And they only have one restroom for men and women , and only one at a time. So if you go , you might use the restroom before you go , or you could be waiting a while to get in.
First time to stop in after always driving by and saying “we need to check that place out”....downside is we came in later at night and they were down to literally only 4 oysters.....upside is they made us 4 oyster shots!! We just did apps with the bacon wrapped jalapeños and we also ordered wings and blue crab dip. All of it was tasty and just hit the spot!! The cold beers and Bloody Mary were on point!! The service was excellent!! Lexi was our server and was honest and friendly. Will definitely be back to try the fresh shucked oysters!!! Y’all need to give them a shot if you haven’t yet!
$$$ Good service... Timing was really off when they brought out our food. Kind of awkward when someone doesn't get there for as others because they have "2 different kitchens"for ten minutes. Food & drinks were good wasn't really what we expected for oysters though & experience was a little ruined,
Crab dip was fresh and great tasting but full of pieces of shell. Bloody Mary’s hailed as unique here - wasn’t a fan myself. Half glass of Tom juice, vodka and the rest filled with pickled juice. Veggie assortment all pickled, which is great, but all in the same style/juice, which is all just poured back in the bloody. It very much was just drinking from a pickle jar with different looking veggies and a piece of bacon added in while all tasting of the same older vinegar while being over-priced due to parroting of misplaced hype. Not sure I caught on to what was to be the bee’s knee’s about this place as I may have missed it. Prices are good for food - it’s priced about as low as can be without starting to suspect the food quality.
My father came into town and wanted to try some oysters, so we came to the Oyster Bar. I personally don't enjoy seafoodso I tried the sliders. They were absolutely amazing! I was surprised at how simple yet delicious it was. The rest of the family had oysters. My father has had oysters all over the place, and he said these were some of the best he had ever had. If you love oysters, this is the place to come. I will say the only downfall was the noise level. It was very hard to have a decent conversation with the music as loud as it was. I can't wait to try something else. If it's half as good as the sliders, it will be well worth it.
Had a good experience. Our waitress was sweet and definitely brought a positive to the dinner. We ordered the crab dip it was okay nothing special and was a little dry. Next we ordered the broiled oysters those were probably the best I ever had. Had some lemon and herb also to dip the bread in. I personally ordered the fish tacos. It was okay but the fish didn’t taste like it was grilled. Wasn’t that hot honestly. I did hear customers complaining at the table across from us that their hamburger was cold so that concerned me. But luckily their service went right away to fixing that matter so I hope the second time it was better.
Kinda run down.. Service down right sucks. It's a perfect hole in the wall place so don't expect much here. There are much better 😊 paces to spend money in New Braunfels. They do have a back patio, but you will not get service there unless you walk back inside to the bar. The food is actually decent, but again the service is a disaster so plan accordingly.
Probably not ever gonna be here again but good whiskey great bartender what kind place doesn't have a fried mushrooms fried pickles are gross people unless you just don't like making food Anna punish the public.
Food is below average. For being known for seafood there’s not many choices. They need to learn how to cook their broiled oysters. Crab cakes were slightly over cooked on the outside and under cooked on the inside, small portions on the crab cakes. Some orders were wrong. Not worth the trip.
Owner is rude. Uncleanliness in the restaurant. Food was disgusting and I got sick from it.
Waited over an hour never got our food, bartenders were rude horrible service. We couldn't even get our tab until we were about to walk out.
Bar tender and bouncers are going to drive what little business this place has to nothing. It's not the best place or setup as it is. Good luck! Have been a customer as a local but the rest of the places in this area will get my business. Pathetic attitudes and assumptions are uncalled for!
