Love Snugs, but make no mistake: this is a Dive Bar. A real one. There is nothing ironic happening here. This is locals and characters and freaks enjoying cheap drinks and no bs; rich kids looking to play tough, and tourists looking for craft cocktails, this ain't the place...

Good times, went Thursday for open mic night and it was awesome. Played darts, pool, and the smoke area just gives shows how inviting the patrons are.

You haven't been to New Paltz if you've never been to Snugs. Definition of a dive bar but always a good time. One of the only places in now for live music, it's usually pretty good.

Okay, so where do I start? Snugs, in a nutshell is everything wonderful and downright terrifying about New Paltz, wrapped up into a cash only, late night haunt. The most interesting thing here by far, are your fellow bar patrons - never have I seen such a diverse bar crowd in my entire life. You have pretty much every walk of life, from punks, skaters, preps, sportos, goths, normies, hippes, old hippies, teeny boppers, etc, etc. Add the phrase "washed up and smelly" and "poser" to the front of any of those personas interchangeably (when needed!) and you've got yourself a winner! Cheap drinks, cheap beer, cheap thrills, topped off with loud up-and-coming "musical acts" and you've pretty much summed up the entire Snugs experience. Worth going to at least once!

A proper dive bar... If I lived in the area this is where you would find me... at least during the day... Not sure what goes on at night... [yet]... but they have affordable prices... an engaging bartender and a proper soundtrack so i will definitely be stopping by anytime i am in New Paltz... A bar with "character" those seem hard to find these days without corporate sponsorship and/or having to rock a stab proof vest just to last an hour...

Went to this bar last night with my friends, and it was definitely packed. Had to pay a small cover charge to get in which I thought was ridiculous because it’s a college town area. They had live music playing and it was entertaining, and I love that they have an outside where people can hang out!

Grungy bar. Not clean. Went there for the live music from the New Paltz Rock Camp. Acoustics are excellent. It is a favorite place of locals musicians.

Sam, one of the bartenders, aggressively hit on my girlfriend and made her feel very uncomfortable. I would be weary of bringing your significant other to this bar.

Scam artists, double changed for cover and drinks if you’re not a regular. We had been in the bar all night and stepped outside for two seconds and the white trash bouncer with cornrows wouldn’t let us back in to get a friend before leaving. Charged a cover for about 30 seconds in the bar. My friends had cash stolen from him and another friend was offered LSD by a sketchy regular and people are constantly vaping weed. Live music sucked, was suppose to be cover bands but only played originals. Great place to hang out and see white trash in its natural habitat. Not only that but all the positive reviews are either fake or “sponsored” by the bar. They offer free drinks for positive reviews, which is why they would have any credibility whatsoever. New Paltz police department, you need to start patrolling this place. It is a hot bad for any and all illicit and criminal activity.

Hands down, worst service ever. One bartender stole money. Another was extremely rude. Do yourself a favor. Stay away from this place. If you like fruit flies in your drink. Go to this place.

Hostile barmaids, wouldn''t allow paying customers to use restroom & said it's illegal, when the opposite is true. Sat on their outside bench no more than 30 seconds after a walk, thinking it was a public bench. The same nasty barwomen came out immediately, told me to get off the bench, & when I asked why, called the police, who did not arrest me, as there was no reason at all to! Totally disrespectful of a disabled senior new resident.!!

They don’t allow albino people in a showed them my ID from 10 years ago and the lady was very rude and disrespectful to me I wouldn’t recommend this bar to any people who believe all people are equal. Total disgrace #ew

I was there this Friday and the bartender tried to fight me. He legit chest bumped me and was pointing his finger about 2 inches from my face and would not back down. he was looking for a fight even though I did nothing wrong!!

Awful, awful person and horrible service. Do not come here if you want a fun and drama-free night.
