The easiest 5 out of 5. Even when you go at the end of the day and have to get whatever is left, it is still amazingly delicious. Best bagels in the city, hands down.
I work in the area and I come in here constantly. The bagels are wonderful! I love the service and how efficient everyone is. I’ll forever show up to this spot.
Quick service. Good bagels. Great cream cheese selection. Convenient location. This has become my go to bagel place. I've gone at all hours of the day, weekdays and weekends, and never had a bad experience.
Legit bagel shop in West Village. Quick and efficient service. Nice glaze on bagels, chewy inside, and a good shmear. All these negative reviews going on about rude workers etc. need to buck up and learn how to order a bagel in NYC. Otherwise jus get Thomas bagels and stay home
I eat here almost every morning before work and it is honestly the best bagels I've ever had. They have various options when it comes to flavored cream cheese and always fast and attentive service.
This place has good food however the lady in the front needs to follow instructions when making my coffee in the morning. I say light and sweet most of the time it's not sweet. Other then that is good people are nice and quick service.
Great lowkey bagel spot in the area. Algorithm won’t push it through but locals will. Hella worth it
Speedy lines and delicious food. The staff behind the counter move fast, so make sure you know what you want to order before stepping up to the counter. I ordered a sundried tomato bagel and a breakfast bagel and they were made so fast!
My favorite bagel place by far. Great value and the service is always really speedy. I usually grab a bagel and cross the street and enjoy eating it in the square. I usually change my bagel up in the mornings but I almost always get the vegetable cream cheese.
Quaint bagel shop in the village. I've been going my entire life, best bagel shop you can go to. They have fast service and ive never had an order messed up. Great bagels and great breakfast sandwiches. I highly recommend getting the apple cream cheese spread on your bagel.
The staff here is amazing! The team moves so fast and they are so polite/friendly. They always complete my order quickly and it is always delicious. Love this place and I look forward to my order!
Let's go, let's go. If you are in the Village, West 4th street train stop, walk 1 block to Carmine street and bam! Bagels on the square is your place to check out. Great customer service, great bagels, eggs, coffee, etc. Definitely makes mornings a little better. But hey, don't take my word for it, check it out yourselves. If not, more for me, lol. Peace.
Good fast food bagels at a great price! Love the folks who work here. Also surprisingly good iced coffee!
Great, fresh and affordable bagels. The staff is quick and really nice. They put some basil in their sun dried tomato cream cheese, which is a nice touch, and the scallion bacon cream cheese is to die for.
Bought some bagel sandwiches here to take to Laguardia for our wait and a dozen for home. I got the lox & schmear on everything and I couldn't desire anything more. The dozen we brought home were still great after a long flight and we noshed on the deliciousness for many days after.
Wow! Ordered catering for an event celebrating Nurse’s Week and it was AMAZING. Everything was so beautifully presented, fresh, and delicious. We received so many compliments I will not be getting breakfast catering from anywhere else! Would give 10 stars if I could. And to whatever gentleman was behind the counter on May 6th—you’re the best! Thanks for all of your help!
One of the best bagels I’ve ever tried.
My first taste of bagels in New York and I’m glad it was here. Had an everything bagel with schmear and it was amazing.
I ordered a dozen bagels with 2 different type of lox for my friends' family , and they said its the best they ever had in the city , they package it very good and it stayed very well for the trip, the staff is extremely helpful and will advice you as well. It's definitely a place to check out and get your bagels . Highly recommended.
Not your typical bagel place in NY, this place is simply amazing. I thought I had a favorite bagel place until I found Bagels on the square, so much flavor in those bagels especially the fired chicken ones!! Customers service is a cherry on top as well.
This was already my go-to bagel spot in New York, but my latest experience just affirmed this place being the best! The business operating hours were wrong on Seamless (fixed now!), so I unkowingly placed an order 30 minutes before the actual closing time for three dozen bagels. They shortly thereafter called me to tell me they needed extra time to finish bake them fresh! I was so shocked they even accepted the order--I would have totally understood if they cancelled or only gave me the leftover stock for the day. When I picked them up they were so so nice and told me it was no problem, even though it kept them several minutes after close. Thanks so much BotS!
Probably the best bagels in Manhattan. I come here over the multitude of choices, because they are friendly, the bagels are amazing, the selection of cream cheeses is extensive and tasty, and the park across the street is a pleasant place to eat the bagel. Overall a 5 star experience.
Probably the best quick breakfast spot IMO. The people that work here are crazy fast and super friendly. They're also open 24 hours which is insane dedication. One thing I think they could improve, like I've seen other people say, they have cut down on the amount of cream cheese you do get which is a bummer if you're paying $3.00+ for a bagel. But besides that, I have no complaints. Their blueberry cream cheese has got to be the best.
My favorite local bagel shop! The bagels are delicious and the perfect texture, and to top it off, they make incredible bagel sandwiches. My all time favorite is the egg everything bagel, and I live for their sausage egg & cheese. Highly recommend!
Favorite bagel spot in NYC! Exactly what you’d expect from a bagel shop, pretty typical bagels and fillings, but the perfect spot for when you want the classic/expected taste of a New York bagel/bec. Pricing is reasonable, esp compared to specialty bagel spots like Murray’s and Leo’s.
Food was absolutely the best I've had in NYC so far, so delicious and the staff was very patient and nice!
I go here all the time. Not only are the bagels so delish (order the sourdough one it’s amazing). But the vibe is just so great. They’re always laughing and joking with each other. When the preparer is done with a sandwich, he wraps it up and just tosses it to the guy on the register. They are super efficient but also super fun. They make me feel like they’re happy to be dealing with me even when they’re super busy.
Old school NYC bagel spot in the heart of the West Village with interesting flavors of top quality bagels, with lots of vegan cream cheese options! I heard the sun dried tomato tofu was excellent, so I tried that on an herbed sourdough bagel-great combination. Service was friendly and extremely fast. $3.50 for an excellent breakfast and/or lunch. All major credit cards accepted.
So back in the day, that being 1983-84, I used to live across the road on Minetta St in a room off the landlord's apartment, which came with a bed a fridge and a kettle and that was it. So a bagel & cream cheese at this place became my morning filler until lunchtime. Great to see its still going strong, assuming the same crew? They should give lessons to the 'get-rich-quick' crowd on business longevity in addition, if y'ask me! Back home in Dublin, Ireland, I have searched for anything resembling my beloved onion bagels in vain; nothing comes close :-(
Sometimes I’m taking a leisurely stroll around the village and I need a bagel cause I’m gonna sit down with it at the park across the street and take my time with the bagel and coffee may be a copy of the New York Times. This is the best place. Other times when I’m on the run trying to catch the train before work I need to get a bagel and this place delivers fast. They have a great warm fresh chewy juicy bagels with excellent selections of cream cheeses. They have one of the best selections of tofu-based cream cheeses in the city great for us dairy free folks highly recommend.
Great bagels. They have tofu cream cheese as well and I was really impressed!
Delicious bagels - came here after seeing the giant lines at Leon’s and similar and there was no line. Bagels and cream cheese were great! Highly recommend
I have been to this place every time I've been to NY, and I have a huge smile on my face going here. The service is fast, they have tons of options and the cream cheese spread is bar none the best combos I've seen. I'm sure there are other spots in and around NY that are each buroughs favorites, but this is mine when I'm visiting. There is also a quaint little park across the street if you don't mind sharing your bread with a few friendly pigeons and birds.
Quick, fast, and reliable. This place may sometimes have a line but it’s goes quick. They have some of the biggest bagels in Manhattan and I love it. The bacon, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel add ketchup is the move! There’s also a ton of muffins and even some cookies. Perfect for a quick breakfast on the go.
THESE GUYS ARE AMAZING!! I get breakfast from them pretty frequently. Their western omelet on a roll reminds me of my childhood. They've got a large selection of specialty cream cheeses and different kinds of bagels. With hot sandwiches also on their menu you are sure to find somwthing you like
An amazing choice for breakfast. I had the sausage egg cheese and the bagel was fresh and tasty. My only problem was the queuing/payment system, it was a bit chaotic and confusing. Also, it can be overwhelming for first-time costumers. I would have it again.
My faaaaaavorite place to come get a toasted bagel with cream cheese!!! They have a ton of different flavors, savory and sweet. my favorite is the blueberry cream cheese. I just wish they toasted the bagels differently so that they didn't bubble... But still my favorite and still delicious
the place is very simple and it does not look like the kind of restaurant where you would seat, so grab your bagel and go out to the square! The whole wheat bagel with the walnuts cream is amazing, but you can not go wrong with the classic egg bagels!
Good and fresh (but not amazing) bagels. A good choice for bagels in the area, good for a local spot but nothing to go out of your way for. No seating, bad coffee. Eat in father demo square across the street and people watch.
a solid bacon egg and cheese sandwich and tunafish sandwich. I had both on onion bagels that were the perfect temperature and consistency: just the right amount of bite for the chew. Tompkins Square is across Carmine St too for some munching with the pigeons on a nice little park bench! Service is quick; it's a modest establishment, yet all the best ones are!
A good place to stop off at for a quick morning top-off, with an impressive variety of cream cheeses; also reasonably priced.
Very good bagels and spreads. Nice breakfast menu that even has burritos! Great customer service and fair prices. Very solid place. Update: Had a BEC on toasted roll today that was so good. Starting to warm up to this place.
Is a bagel 🥯 w/ cream cheese a viable substitute for pizza? Yes, especially when you realize it's cash-only at the over-hyped Joe's Pizza next door. Veggie cream cheese on a poppy bagel is a refreshing combination. Sorry for not including a picture; I think a tourist seeking directions to Washington Square interrupted me before I took the shot.
Great little bagel place by the square. How do you stand out as a bagel place? They toast the bagels just right, have great cream cheese (I really like the lox one), and they make the bagels fresh. Prices are OK. The taste is great. Unfortunately they don't have any places to sit, they're pretty busy, and they also don't offer any extras. Like you have to pay to get a large bag. Pretty good bagel spot.
I ordered one dozen cinamon raisin bagels plus 6 French toast bagels to go. When packing the bagels at my place, I realized that 2 Cinamon/raisin where missing, and I had no time to go back to the shop. Too bad for me. To be honest, that is the first time that happpens to me.
Eh. Mediocre bready bagel. Kind of like a oversized Lender’s you’d buy at a grocery. Not terrible , but I’ve also had far superior bagels at the Jersey shore (...shots fired). The price and bacon earned it one extra star.
Heard a lot of hype, absolutely no idea why. Just a very average bagel. In no way shape or form bad, but definitely far from special!
I used to love bagels on the square, but it seems like recently the quality and service has been slipping. They regularly get orders wrong, and the bagels are not very fresh and even border on stale. I won't be going back for awhile.
The food here is very average. I am disappointed more than satisfied. It is near the subway and I order online via perkchops which is why I tend to reorder.
Food is decent, staff is nice enough but they definitely try and scam people. Prices are already high enough and I went to this place 3 times over the course of 2 weeks and it was a different price every single time even though I got the same exact thing. Be careful at the register make sure everything is correct before paying. I will not be going back.
The food is good but feel like every month their prices change. I normally get 2 sandwiches used to cost me 11-12 bucks depending on the time. Then went up to 13-14. Went in this morning and they charged me 16 bucks. Good people though. But if you want bang for your buck. There’s deli at every corner and the one in bleecker across the street from the school is more bang for your buck with delicious food.
I moved into the apartments directly above this place and went here at least six or seven times before I had to stop. I literally only had one good experience. Every other time they either lost track of my order, which resulted in me waiting for 15-20 minutes, or just straight up got it wrong. Two stars because the bagel they got right was solid. Lots of other good bagel options in the neighborhood - avoid this one if possible.
Worst bagel shop/ establishment, they prepare your food without washing there hands or using gloves, after handing money. Also, they would charge you more money for any breakfast sandwhich, before 6:00 am. Over priced dirty establishment. I had to call the department of health, to make a complaint. They don't speak English, and get your order wrong all the time.
They must’ve been on a different planet while I placed my order. For the amount charged getting right is literally the least you could do. Bagels are mediocre at best.
I got a poppyseed lox, tomato, purple onion, and cream cheese. The total cost was $10.25 for the bagel. When I ordered I told them chives in cream cheese . When I told them they gave me regular cream cheese instead of chive cream cheese, they tried to charge me $1 more. That is unacceptable for a bagel to cost $10.25 and not even be made right. They did not offer to correct the situation. Would not recommend.
During my recent visit to NY, I'd gone to pick up a bagel and coffee for a quick breakfast. The girl and boy at the counter were very rude and dismissive. I had just ordered a cheese bagel on coffee. However, people behind me in the queue were being served while I was made to wait. The guy asked me 3 times what I'd ordered. After being served, I asked the girl how to open the coffee cup - she expressed irritation at this simple request - kept muttering Oh God, Oh God. A highly unpleasant experience. The management should train the staff to show some courtesy and explain things to customers from outside the US who may not be familiar with terms on the menu or the structure of the coffee cup.
I went there this past Monday, it was one of the worst bagels in NY I've ever had, the bagel was under baked no chewy crust to speak of, even the cream cheese was not very good. For NY bagels it's not a stop that I would make again.
Booooh! Waited in a crowd on line for over 5 minutes. Got to the register and ordered. She refused my order. Said I had to go to the back of the line and order from the counter man. But all the while I was waiting nobody asked for an order and there is no sign to say order here. Sorry sir, you have to order in the back. So I left, still hungry. Never going there again.
Never got my delivery will never order from again …. Stop using DoorDash use delivery service you actually know smfh
I am a customer since September 2023 until now march 2025, I work next door, when I went to ask just for something I needed and they have it, they refuse to give it me, I told him I will pay for it, he still refuse and said I don’t know how much it cost, I told him I am your customer I always come here, he said “ I know”. I felt humiliated and ashamed, I told him I will give you such and such if money, which is way more than how much it cost, he still refused So, they should know as they know I am there loyal good customer sunday march 9 that I will never come back no matter what?
Scam for tourist The bagels was good but lady at the cash scamed me. I order bagel with peanut butter 3,75$ and bagel with scallion creame cheese 4$ and add salmon to that and I payed 19,33$!!! She didn’t give me receipt, overcharged me and didn’t want to give my money back.
I ordered off grubhub. The employees have zero common sense, ordered a bagel with cream cheese, a turkey sandwich on a bagel, and fries. None of the bagels were toasted or even warm. They gave me ice cold bagels and weren’t apologetic about it very rude nor did they offer to fix the issue. Ended up throwing it all away and wasting my money. On top of that the French fries were soggy ok flavor but soggy af. If I could give zero stars I would.
I have been going here for over 10 years. A bagel that cost $3.50 a few years ago is now $4.50. That is not a problem unless they also reduce the amount of cream cheese to nothing more than a thin skim. The cream cheese used to be piled high. I thought skimping on what must cost them 10 cents worth of cream cheese was a one time mistake so I have been back a few times and it keeps happening. So it's time to move on.
If you have a family; a wife, or a child, do not visit this restaurant. At least 3 of the staff were making inappropriate comments about my daughter and my wife. They clearly did not think anyone on the other side of the counter spoke spanish. For what it’s worth, the bagel was OK.. not the best but not worth the visit with the disgusting comments and thoughts of the men working there. Avoid.
Went here for a small order of soup and heard the employees calling me disgusting comments about my race. They clearly don’t think people understand Spanish. Sad because I’ve been going here for a year. I will not be back. They need to hire better people who respect customers.
