From the moment we went into Barbuto, the host and waiters were amazing. We didn’t had a reservation and we arrived almost at the closing hour but still they managed to give us a table and the service was amazing. We ordered some focaccia, kale salad, two pasta dishes and a baked Alaska and everything was a 10/10 in quality, flavor and size. We definitely will be going back!

We hosted our wedding dinner reception at Barbuto BK, and it was absolutely perfect. From the moment we arrived, the team made us feel so cared for — everything ran seamlessly. The food was incredible (our guests are still talking about it!), the drinks were a hit, and the space was just beautiful for such an intimate celebration. Every detail felt thoughtful and effortless. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience — thank you, Barbuto, for making our wedding night so unforgettable!

Kale salad was so good and overall we really enjoyed all the food and pastas. Pistachio cake was great too. Would recommend!

Incredible. Can’t wait to go back. Much nicer than I thought it was going to be. That View! Gypsy is an amazing bartendress. She made it feel so cozy. So professional. Drinks were 🔥. Duck. Amazing. Beets and potatoes. Amazing. Gnocchi with the yellow squash. My personal fav.

We had a great early dinner here. The service was outstanding and the food was amazing. We had the kale salad, the meatball and a pizza and all were superb. I don't normally like kale but that kale salad was something special. Even my kid who is a picky eater loved it!

My son, daughter-of-heart and I had a late lunch here. Our waiter, Eduardo, was attentive and helpful. Cleaned table and reset between courses. We ordered several dishes to share We had the focaccia(superb), a meat ball (plenty large enough for us all to have a good taste) and the kale salad to start. I hate kale...and had 2 large helpings! Main courses were roast chicken...so NOT boring chicken; pasta carbonara...make sure you are good with black pepper, which we do, so SUPERB; and the potatoes were THE BOMB! I just wish we had room for dessert!

The chicken dish they are known for and it is very health and peels off the bone easily. Also ordered the beet dish. Great food and friendly staff. A little off the beaten path but doesn’t seem hard to get a seat at the bar.

One of my favorite restaurants in the city Have been there several times and wanna come back for sure! The food is just fantastic! you have to try their signature dish - kale salad, it’s amazing ! also their chicken is something incredible, for me it's the best combination Last time I fell in love with their meatball And of course the service and staff are great. try to make a reservation there, especially for dinner on the weekend my personal recommendation, come there during the day on brunch time on sunny day

My favorite restaurant in NYC. The iconic chicken and potatoes are worth it, let alone the rest of the menu including pizzas, pastas and a great wine list. I come here every time I’m in NYC

The food was great, believe is seasonal so some items on the menu will change. Pasta and chicken were delicious, the kale salad is a must. Totally recommend. Oh, the views too, great.

The Jonathan Waxman chicken is a must order. It will change your life. I almost never order chicken at restaurants but at Barbuto I will every time. The chicken is super tender and I actually enjoy the white meat. The salsa verde is the perfect compliment. The space is huge and bright; a stones throw from the floating island.

Probably my favorite restaurant in the city! Delicious food, friendly staff, amazing view of sunset on the river. Dylan behind the bar was so nice and helpful!

The in season tilefish was quite tender and pan sauce really hit the spot. Kale salad was mild and fresh! Went on a weekday evening, crowded but easy to find a seat for two. Great that the restaurant has a policy to keep a few seats open for walk in! I will definitely be coming back to try more dishes!

Fun restaurant in a cool part of town. Food was great. Starters were really good. Mains were great. The steak and chicken really good.

Classic west village New American/Italian bistro in a lofty space with nice bar and high top seats for more casual dining. The ambiance is lively, cozy but not too loud or rowdy. The menus are well curated, featuring season ingredients and great selection of appetizers for sharing. The salads are well balanced and fresh. The pizza was bready (not thin crust) but the bolognese sauce was delicious. The grilled chicken with chimichurri sauce is a must. The chocolate budino was rich and silky, perfect for chocolate lovers to share. The price is definitely west village level but for the experience it’s worth the value for a cozy get together.

I had dinner at the bar, and it was just what i was craving! The bolognese was delicious, and I really enjoyed the gin cocktail on the menu. The chocolate hazelnut cake was nice and light, perfectly capping off my meal. Special thanks to Gipsy at the bar for her excellent service, I really appreciated it! Thanks for the great evening :)

not a bad bite here. some dishes were better than others. some favorites were the meatball and the tuna crudo. the burrata was a little firmer than i’m used to but was good. it didn’t come with bread so we got the foccacia, which was okay (not the best but not bad). the hannaha pizza kind of tasted like a kids pizza. the chicken and pork were cooked well but i preferred the appetizers in terms of flavor. the berry tart dessert was really good though. also the portions are pretty decent.

Excellent dinner with my husband last night. We had the meatball, bread, gnocchi, and scampi spaghetti. I probably should've ordered less but it was so satisfying to polish off these plates and go for a long walk afterwards. The staff was extremely courteous and welcoming. Definitely plan to return on my next trip back!

So delicious! No wonder everyone raves about Barbuto. The chicken is what draws people in but my party didn’t even order it. Don’t sleep on the fried calamari salad, fettuccine fra diavlo, and the hazelnut praline cheesecake. All dishes were great but those were out of this world. Great service and hospitality. Would love to go back.

If you’re on the lookout for an unforgettable dining experience in NYC, Barbuto should definitely be on your list. From the moment we walked in, the warm, inviting atmosphere set the stage for what was to be an exceptional meal. We kicked things off with the Prosciutto e Burrata as our starter, and it was a match made in heaven. The prosciutto was perfectly sliced, delicate, and flavourful, while the burrata was incredibly fresh and creamy – the kind that melts in your mouth. It was a simple dish but executed to perfection, setting the tone for the rest of the evening. Next up was the Insalata di Cavolo, a kale salad that was anything but ordinary. It was beautifully balanced, with a mix of textures and flavours that made it a standout. The freshness of the ingredients really shone through, and it was one of those dishes that makes you rethink how good a salad can be. For the mains, we indulged in the Spaghetti Scampi and the JW Pollo al Forno with salsa verde. The Spaghetti Scampi was a revelation – perfectly cooked pasta with a rich, garlicky sauce that had just the right amount of kick. The prawns were succulent and fresh, making the dish an absolute delight. And then there was the JW Pollo al Forno. This roast chicken was unlike any I’ve had before – tender, juicy, and bursting with flavour, thanks to the salsa verde that added a vibrant, herby freshness to the dish. It’s one of those meals that leaves a lasting impression, making you want to return again and again. Overall, Barbuto is a culinary gem that blends originality with classic flavours in a way that feels both comforting and exciting. It’s not just about the food, though – the ambiance, the service, everything about the place makes you feel like you’re in for something special. If you’re in NYC, do yourself a favour and book a table at Barbuto. You won’t regret it!

I might have to write a poem about this chicken. Had a lovely lunch with my friends Dara and Jess. If you’re here get the roasted chicken and kale salad! (The insider tip ;). Amazing service, ambience and food.

I'm just in New York for a few days of meetings and made a pilgrimage to Barbuto. Used to have it as a favourite when we lived here more than 12 years ago. Still great chicken and service.

So they played Tame Impala 80% of the time, that for me is a 5/5. Also, they have a cute canva of the dog which the restaurant was named after. Barbuto is a delightful experience, food and wine is great!

Never disappoints. Set up a great table in the corner with 2 high chairs on short notice. Food always excellent. One of my go-to restaurants in NYC and a place I bring friends/family that visit.

We hosted a 16 person semi private dinner here and the food was fantastic, good portions for everyone family style. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating to everyone. Also the pistachio cake was amazing.

Brett was awesome! He was quite knowledgeable about the food and drinks, which helped guide our selections. It was all delicious! We appreciated his attentiveness. We will certainly return with friends and family!

This is a super reliable and tasty dining experience in the heart of Meatpacking. Chef, Jonathan Waxman has been doing this for years and he knows what he is doing. The chicken is outstanding, as is really everything on the menu. And the atmosphere and vibe is great!

The view from Barbuto is simply amazing if you’re lucky to sit by the windows facing the Hudson River. The food is good as are the portions. Overall a good place to eat. If you’re in the area it’s worth coming in but not a destination you go out of your way to visit.

Overall, I had a good time here. I did find this place from TikTok the space big beautiful inviting warm even when it’s has high ceilings. The food is mostly good though it had it ups and downs Still an enjoyable experience I think a lot of out-of-towners would enjoy it. It’s near the water on the water. Food – as I said most everything I’ve had here was good but good in New York City isn’t always the best. There’s too many options in the city. The chicken is what they’re known for, but it was just chicken. It was good flavorful I enjoyed every bite of it. The stain out for me was just the potatoes the crispy mashed potatoes. Those are fantastic. I could eat tons of those in that hair and lies the only issue I have with this place. Also the potatoes don’t come with sauce and still win. The server also recommended the duck pasta actually was turkey pasta very interesting. Kind of pasta and I was hesitant. I didn’t enjoy that dish, but I also came to this restaurant thinking I was gonna have a lot of pasta options and that’s just not the case. I think it’s more of a grill or wood fireplace not a pasta please that’s my fault. No, we had extra funds to spend so we got the steak last because everybody at the table loves steak however, when I was eating a steak, I got the feeling that it was like a braised beef or whatever that meat that falls apart easily is It just didn’t taste like steak and I really threw off the ending of the meal for us because it’s really hard to make a mistake. My partner doesn’t like. Last thing we got a dessert because of the holiday season, we got the gingerbread dessert. Presentation was absolutely amazing. But to be honest, I’m not a gingerbread fam, so it’s not my thing, but still very happy with presentation and it was good. Check out the picture. It’s adorable. Atmosphere - as I mentioned it was huge. It’s a very large space, but it doesn’t always feel large when we got to the table and felt like home again. It was warm and inviting and very nice. There weren’t any standup features that we blew me away. But there was not a moment in that room that I didn’t feel comfortable in at home the staff was excellent and attentive. Everybody was great very knowledgeable about the food. Some good recommendations as well again we wouldn’t have got the turkey if she didn’t say it. It looks like it could be good for large groups here so that’s an important thing to think about

The chicken is good but nothing worth screaming about - if you’re coming here just for it, I’d say it’s passable. However, this is an overall decent Italian joint that has a good number of seats and a dependable offering of pastas and salads. Great views of the WSH as well.

This is an interesting restaurant that really doesn't fit into an ethnic box. It's not really Italian as it has some pasta dishes but also has many non-Italian salads and main courses. Regardless, the dishes are tasty and fresh. There are plenty to choose from and the beverage options are well stocked too. We also enjoyed the open kitchen concept and loved the stainless steel pizza oven. Overall, we had a good meal and experience here.

Pizza was great! The server was spot on. It is very dark and loud, fyi. I am disappointed by the B health rating!

Really excellent dinner spot with a bit of a neighborhood feel to it. Sadly did not have a chance to visit the old location, but by all accounts the food here is up to par. Highlights for us included the two salads (the calamari one - wow!) as well as the gnocchi. Service was excellent and prompt, though it does get a little loud (which is part of the fun). Definitely a good place to go with a group - you'll find something to please everyone.

Big room across from Little Island, been wanting to try it for a while. Pleasant experience. Pizza was tasty, bruschetta too. We all had pastas, menu was quite limited, if I’m not mistaken there were only three pastas available, gnocchi, rigatoni with guanciale (thick bacon) and a linguine with shrimp and jalapeños in an olive oil. There was something a little odd about how the pastas were served, quite uneven portions. There were six of us, I think I would like to try it as a couple for a better evaluation. Service was good and food was flavorful.

Appetizers were very fresh but the calamari could have been more abundant. The fettuccine with clams was delicious and the hanger steak was cooked to perfection. Pollo al forno was tasty but loaded with bones. Pumpkin cheesecake was phenomenal and the negroni was well proportioned. Overall good food but definitely not the best Italian option in the city.

A
Anum Afzaal

Great dinner spot near west side highway if you’re looking for a vibey place filled with grown ups, not insta baddies. The place feels spacious and lively, not cramped and annoyingly loud like west village restaurants. The apps were the best part - we got the focaccia (big chunks of soft bread) and the prosciutto with burrata- highly recommend both. For mains we got the steak and mushroom tagliatelle. Both were meh 2/5 tbh - the steak was underwhelming and the mushroom tagliatelle was sweet (if it’s supposed to be sweet then we just ordered wrong). Come here for apps and vibes

We were very pleased with the chicken salsa verde and the kale salad, and would happily return to order them again. Together, they make the perfect-sized meal to split between two people. The service was responsive, though not especially personable. The restaurant itself is spacious with large windows, but it can feel a bit cold in the winter. That said, it’s a great location, and we're looking forward to visiting again in the summer. We also ordered the gnocchi, which had a nice flavor, but some of the vegetables weren’t fully cooked, resulting in a slightly strange texture. The wine pairing was well done and delicious. Overall, we’re excited to return, especially to try the pizza.

Service, vibe and wine were A+. The food unfortunately, meh. UPDATE: Both me and my friend got stomach issues from the food.

Went to Barbuto for the first time at their Horatio Street location. Last time I visited was at their Washington Street Location. Totally different vibe from before - much more of a a sterile environment, though clean with an open kitchen. The bartender, Dylan, was the best part of our evening. We insisted on crushing half a round at the bar before sitting, which the host happily obliged. That’s when service sorta…. Stopped. We sat early at 5:30. It took us around ten minutes or more for drinks, the first round at the table. Then each other round of drinks seemed also to take forever. The food was very good: Steak, Chicken, Gnocci, Burrata and Prosciutto to start with delicious bread and EVO. But we couldn’t really enjoy ourselves because we just kept waiting each time someone needed a drink. When my wife brought this up to our server, he replied that he “was very busy.” With this wait, we still spent over $200 on drinking between three people- our bill w/tip was just under $500. Noted it was a birthday on my reservation - no bday recognition once from the time we entered. Overall, while the chicken is some of the best in the city, I don’t see a need to come back. The guest is no longer central to the spirit of Barbuto’s new vibe. Side note- the service staff (bussers and runners) were incredible in execution, though not into small talk, haha.

L
Lesley Collins

The host was warm and friendly and sadly, that's where the lovely service ended, as our server was completely miserable. I mean, not a smile, not a welcome...not even a hello. I was so bummed because I never made it to the OG Barbuto and this has been on my list for sometime now. We went for Brunch yesterday 12/14, and sat a hightop. The restaurant has a warm feel and we were excited to be there. It's always disappointing when your server isn't in the mood to be at work...I've been in the business and I know everyone has an off day. Still - would have loved to have one of the other servers in the restaurant as we were watching and noticed how nice and friendly they were to their tables. :/ We started with the burrata - it was ok. My husband had the pizza which was good and I had the duck pasta which could have been cooked maybe a minute or two more...the al dente was a little too al dente. The pistachio cake was a bit of a letdown...it came out super quick and felt like it had been precut and kept in the fridge...

First the good. Great location, charming space, genuinely good bites. Yet — the service… for a restaurant of this caliber, sub-par. For many, many reasons. But the way the meal ended sealed the deal. Half the table was not offered the opportunity to order dessert or coffee. It was a birthday celebration, and although it was not indicated on the reservation, that should not matter at a quality restaurant. With good service, a celebration reveals itself. I would return for a quick bite if in the neighborhood, but with lower expectations and minimal appetite (especially for dolci).

D
David Joseph

I came here on a Wednesday evening with two friends one of whom was coming from Long Island and I advocated for doing something outside of midtown in a neighborhood with better food. Well we may as well have stayed in midtown because this place was a waste of time and money. The food tasted like nothing, including the gnocchi which was labeled as a "signature dish". The service was good, but nothing more than what I would expect for a restaurant of this price point. They ran out of the special, off menu side item and they gave us another option on the house. We got the potatoes which didn't go off the theme of tasting like nothing. The atmosphere is fine. I would not recommend and I wouldn't go back.

S
Skyler Johnson

Not a lot of options for vegetarians, and the ones we did get (pizza, gnocchi, mixed greens) were all just fine - not sure we'll return. Seemed like a popular spot for business dinners. Not sure if it was just the night we went (a weekday), but service seemed quite slammed and it took a while to get orders in - servers were all very kind, though!

N
Naz

We recently had dinner at Barbuto after visiting the Whitney and was disappointed. The Martinis were average, but the food was not enjoyable. The stuffed zucchini flowers had a hard, glass-like coating instead of a crispy one and the classic chicken was chewy and not the exceptional dish it used to be. The service was also poor, with four different waiters showing up at random times and not being attentive to the timing of food and drinks. We noticed the grade was pending when leaving, which was a final disappointment in what used to be a wonderful spot in NYC.

A
Agus Chao

Last night was our third time at Barbuto, and honestly, we were very disappointed with the service. We were a group of six and ordered a pizza as an appetizer, but the staff made us wait until they could take the full order. When we finally placed it, we clearly said the pizza was a starter, but when the food arrived, they brought the pizza and the main courses all at once—except they forgot two of the dishes. Those two people ended up eating much later than the rest of us. We appreciate the gesture of removing the delayed dishes from the bill, but the service really needs improvement. We doubt we’ll return.

L
Luiza Taboaco

Had never heard anyone talk positively about this place, but given it was in the ny top 100 restaurants, I decided to give it a try. Result: server accidentally threw wine all over my face and clothes (got nothing comped for it, not even another glass of wine), food was very average and pastas which should be great in an Italian restaurant were way below average, mains came before pastas and when we tried to explain server looked perplexed. This is a below average neighborhood spot, don’t waste your time.

j
jennifer lopez

Visited the restaurant based on the good reviews. Very disappointing and not worth the money. The portions were very small given the expensive prices for example a classic margarita is $30 and 9 pieces of small ravioli is $34. Food had no flavor at all. For a table for two, you only have about an hour and a half to be there. Better off going somewhere else where the food and drinks are affordable or worth your money
