Nice and cozy neighborhood bar serving a decent variety of craft beer on tap and bottled options. Nice atmosphere, good music that is not too loud. All the snacks we tried were tasty and were of decent size. The only nit to pick is the stools are kind of uncomfortable but not terribly. Will be going there again for sure.

A hidden gem near Times Square! This spot has dive bar vibes (meant in the best way possible), a killer beer selection including a wall of cans/bottles that you can take to-go or enjoy at the bar. A must-visit for a beer lover looking to enjoy a craft beer and escape the tourists in Times Square!

T
Trey Tollison

A little hideaway spot where you can find a few locals mingling with some tourists and some theatre folks. Great rotating selection of craft beers on tap with a knowledgeable staff. They also have a very well stocked beer cooler. Grab what you want bring it to the bar to be opened and enjoy. Loved the low key cheers like vibe definitely a place you could frequent as a regular or just enjoy for a really good night in town.

Great draft beer selection and if nothing in draft caught your attention, the fridge has some nice selection in cans and bottles. Was not crowded (wed eve) was quite enough to have conversation without screaming on each other. Service was adequate to the amount of ppl in. Will return.

Nice little place near time square. With great selection of beer. They acrually keep just whisky and beer in ample variety. Food is good as well. Bar staff is amazing and great to talk to. Nice outdoor seating area as well. It is our often after office drinks place. Would recommend.

Terrific bar, truly great beer and great dogs. Very relaxed - highly recommended.

Come for the beer - stay for the food. Insane selection of craft beers from around the world to choose from and a kitchen serving up a limited, albeit delicious selection of foods.

always a great selection on draft. I love the IPAs, there has been a DIPA option every time I’ve visited 😍

Great, chilled out bar in the middle of Hell’s Kitchen. Wide selection of beer in their fridges going from east to west coast. Imports in bottles and cans are in the back. They change up what they have on tap regularly and have something for everybody. Bar food is pretty good as well. Bartenders are also friendly and attentive. Can get quite crowded on Thursday-Saturday nights since it is a smaller space. Would definitely recommend.

This place is different than others around the area in a good way. A very chill atmosphere. The bartender Chris was one of the nicest gentlemen I have ever drank with. I appreciate you guys making my birthday a special one! Will be back if ever in the area again count on that.

J

As a tourist, it was refreshing to find this spot. The staff were friendly and engaging, making us feel like locals. They have a good beer selection and we got bar pies and hummus/pita bread. It looked like most people were getting burgers. The patrons also had a fun energy so it was a great place to stop for our family to grab a drink and something to eat on a chilly evening.

Everything you want from a local beer bar. Great variety, cool stuff not found regularly, chill vibe. Food was pretty good, along with the great beers! Second review after multiple visits. This place is all I can ask for in a beer bar. Brats, Pretzels, amazing beer. Every time I come to the city, I stop by and I love it. Google won’t let me review it again, but I love this place. Cheers to anyone who stops by and finds this absolute gem.

Awesome little bar that’s separated from all the hustle and bustle of Times Square. Came in for some beer and a pretzel and was not disappointed. Good prices and friendly bartenders, check it out if you’re in the area.

Impressive tap selection highlighting many local / regional IPA's and summer pale ales. Extensive cooler where you can grab a can or bottle and drink at the bar. Cozy and probably easy to miss from the street if you aren't looking for it.

Incredible selection of beers from around the world. Friendly staff and a relaxed environment. So pleased we stumbled across it just a few steps form the bustle of Times Square.

Great beer bar in hell’s kitchen! Got the ommegang abbey. Dark ale. Very tasty. Fresh. Mmmmm. Lots of fun, unique options here. Came and bottles in the fridge too. So many delicious choices to get drunk. Small and dark inside. But it works.

Cozy beer hall full of merriment and great selection of local and eccentric craft beers. Crispy tater tots and brats with kraut and quality mustard. Friendly, welcoming bartender and an at-home vibe.

Amazing place! It is one of those places where they value quality over quantity. Decent selection of beers, with enough variety and all the ones I tried were delicious. The menu is small and everything is well made and delicious. Vibe was great, knowledgeable and friendly bartenders. Will def go again.

M

My go to place when I’m in NY for work. Simple menu that’s done well and a small manageable, well thought out beer list. Incredible staff, especially on Monday nights where advice is right where people are at. Not pretentious at all. Best of all, you won’t feel like a block from time square, but instead in a place where the customer matters. If you like beer at all, it’s worth a visit.

P
Paul Bobo

Really nice little bar with a great choice of local beers a short walk from times square. Service was friendly, music was good and air conditioning was cooling

O

This place is for bear and whisky, so no fancy stuff here. Which is what we were looking for at the time btw.. Nice place to have couple of drinks after a long day of walk in New York city! Bartender is a nice guy and helps a lot on what kind of house bear you would like to drink.

J

Nice selection of beers on tap and available by the can. Close walk from the theaters.

My favorite bar in NYC. Matt and the staff are super welcoming. I wish I could take this place home with me 😂

T

It's not the most extensive tap list you can find in NYC, but it rotates often and always has an excellent selection. Easy to miss, but charming, if I'm meeting friends for a drink before a show I will often suggest Beer Culture.

Stopped here on a spur of the moment decision after a Broadway play, and this spot is a hidden gem, it's not very big and a bit hidden but delightful never the less. Their beer variety was really great. I'd say more than 30 beer selections. These two were amazing. Will definitely be returning to try the wings 😁😁😁

Visiting second time in last 2 years. Cool place for great selection of drafts & cans, cozy atmosphere and decent food. Shoutout to the friendly bartender.

First off, let me just say, this place is fking awesome. They have a great selection of beer on tap or in the fridge. Stopped by early in the day last Friday and again after we saw Book of Mormon. Simply put, I definitely had too much fun here and felt the consequences the next morning. We were able to get our hands on some King Sue and Pseudo Sue, which was a big highlight of this weekend trip.

C

Great place for craft beer. Bartenders are all very knowledgeable and can provide recommendations. Small place with a great vibe. Small but excellent selection of whiskies Can get a little noisy due to the size. Love this place as a getaway from the nearby tourist area.

Came for the beer selection and was very pleasantly surprised by the food. The smash burger was shockingly good and fast made. Also got a pretzel that hit the spot. The whiskey and beer was of course great. Great place if you get a chance to drop in.

This was a great spot. We spent a few hours just hanging out between shows. There is a great selection of craft beer. The food was simple but tasty. Even though you are in the heart of Manhattan it feels like you are at your neighborhood bar.

Beer Culture has usurped Blind Tiger for me as my beer bar of choice in Manhattan! They have a tight draft selection that rotates pretty often, and a pretty good can collection in the fridge. The staff have always been friendly and extremely knowledgeable; it is really handy when you can say you live in San Francisco, what do you have that I can only get out here? You can tell it is a good place in Hell’s Kitchen/Times Square when stage hands and actors actually come by after (definitely not between) their shows. They also have whiskeys available here as a sidecar; definitely do not try and order any other liquors, the back of their staff shirt makes that clear. For food, I’ve only ever had the cheese curds because I obviously have a problem and can’t get them at many places in SF. The portions are large and the prices reasonable. My only feedback to them is maybe offer some large format bottle pours on busy nights so people can try some of the more obscure options.

Hands down my favorite bar — this place is everything you want in a great local spot. The bartenders are amazing: friendly, knowledgeable, and always quick with a great recommendation or an Underberg when you need it most. The owners are just as awesome, creating a space that feels genuinely welcoming and rooted in the local community. The beer selection is top-tier, with a thoughtful mix of local brews, seasonal rotations, and always a few unexpected gems on tap. And if you're headed home or to a hangout, the take-out beer options are super convenient and just as carefully curated. Whether you're a regular or just stopping by, you’ll always get a warm vibe and top-notch service. It’s the kind of place that makes you proud to be a local

Stop what you’re doing and re-route yourself to this place immediately if you like beer, bratwurst and burgers. The brat is prepared locally and served on and served on a delicious, fresh and toasted to perfection baguette with grainy mustard and a generous portion of kraut. Truly the best brat I’ve had outside of the Midwest. The menu prices do not reflect the high quality of food here, and I’m shocked they aren’t charging more. Absolutely delicious and I can’t wait to come back. Had we not devoured our food so quickly I would’ve taken a picture.

Beer Culture is one of my favorite bars in NYC. A haven from the madness of midtown, this intimate neighborhood haunt boasts an amazing craft beer selection (with 16 taps and an extensive variety of cans available in the fridge to stay or to-go). I also delight in the fact that next to the big fridge there is a basic fridge with basic beers for those with basic needs. And I mean this with the utmost respect as sometimes you just really need a good old miller high life instead of a fancy beer. Be aware that this bar has a strict beer and whiskey only policy, but their selection of both is on point. The bartenders are extremely knowledgeable and happy to provide recommendations. They're also fun to chat with. I've tried most of the menu but my favorite item hands down is their cheese curds. Also of note are the bratwurst, pretzel, tater tots, and wings. There are three televisions around the bar that play local sports or classic films at low or no volume. Nothing is ever crazy loud so it's a great place to catch up and chat with friends. We love to pop in before a play or post-show as it's in the heart of the theatre district. In addition to beer, whiskey, and bar fare, they sell some pretty awesome merch (not embarrassed to say I sport some of their hats around town- their wool hat is my most favorite and warm winter hat). So if you haven't gotten the message from my long winded review … Beer Culture is a 10/10 in my book.

I’m a grumpy old man. Noisy, active places usually annoy me. But from the chatter of the patrons to the lively playlist, I really like drinking beer here. Great Imperial Stout, “Barrier Half & Half.” Fries crisp and well-seasoned, enough for two people. Lively vibe, dark and cool on a humid summer day. Service super friendly and quick. *second visit, one month later: I got the last dribbles of the only stout on tap, Central Waters “Nitro Puppy.” While disappointed, I was delighted to discover that they have a huge cooler of canned options, which included 6 Porter/Stout options. The French fries were great. Again.

Scott Chapman

I'm giving them 5 stars because their name is BEER Culture and they have a great selection of beers! Also on the Sunday evening we visited the place was relatively unbusy and frankly was a bit of respite from the craziness that can be NYC. The smash burgers were reportedly good, but frankly the flat bread was sub-par with a bread that was way too tough. In contrast the smash burger buns reportedly were quite good. Normally I wouldn't give 5 stars with a flat bread like that but you're hopefully coming here for the beer, not the flat bread, and for that they definitely get 5 stars.

Highly recommend this neighborhood jaunt (does not at all feel like you’re blocks from Times Square). Beer is great, food great, and vibes are immaculate. We greatly enjoyed the bratwurst and chicken sandwich and hope to return again soon. The staff were also class acts.

Beer selection was great. Loads of craft beers. Huge selection in the fridges. Bar staff were friendly and were helpful if you wanted help choosing. Had some sports showing on a couple of screens, but no volume which was perfectly fine if you wanted a quiet beer post lunch.

Great craft beer served in an intimate setting with knowledgeable staff. They have a good selection of high quality beer on tap as well as a more extensive selection of canned beer. Came here on a Friday around 8pm and the place was fairly empty, but filled up by the time we left at around 9:30pm. Staff is friendly, beer is awesome

Haven in an otherwise manic, touristy area. Despite its midtown location, it has a really homely, local feel whilst still being welcoming to visitors. Great selection of beer, super tasty food (at relatively cheap prices - get the wings) and a very friendly bartender (my man with glasses and a ponytail)

C

Great little beer bar and store. They have around a dozen things on tap and lots of stuff bottled. Just grab something from the fridge and enjoy!

J

We stopped in right after seeing a show. The beer was good and the burgers were surprisingly delicious. They use a proper bun (not brioche, thank God), and the smashed patties were super crispy. Lovely experience!

J

Nice hidden dive bar in NYC right off Times Square. Only beer and whiskey. They have a wide variety of beers at good prices. Not a good place for a group but a great place for a low key hang out. The bartenders are very nice and attentive.

N
Nilesh Parikh

We had a couple beers while waiting for our show. Great little dive with excellent craft beer selection and whiskey. Although I didn't have any, the food looked really good. Only downside was the couple regulars that definitely had a bit too much to drink and we're a tad bit morose. Definitely didn't liven the mood...

J
James Lowe

This is one of my favorite stops when visiting NYC. Very friendly place. The craft beer selection on tap is pretty short but their bottle selection is much larger and offers more variety. Beer on tap is good and fresh, and the food is really good too. They used to have a larger/better bottle selection but maybe I caught them short on this visit.

D
Darth Bane

Great spot to explore the local and not so local (Great Notion) 👀 craft beer. My only advice is I wish they served beer in the NEIPAs and stouts in snifters.

B
Barry Dahl

Went in for drinks and food, settled for drinks and found food elsewhere. They had a good selection of tap beers and lots of unusual cans and bottles in the cooler.

S
Stewart Went

(Dec 2014) Does a very good job of part store part bar. I only stopped in for takeaways so can only comment on the retail piece. Must be 300 beers in the fridge plus another 50 on the shelves. Range is not amazing but good enough for the non-American beer tourist (and to be fair NY not exactly teaming with good retail options). Tap range just ok and Pony Bar a better option in this respect. Pricing quite decent.

K
Kelly White

Cool little spot with tons of craft beers on tap and a huge selection of bottles. They only serve beer and whiskey so you know they're serious about what they've got.

A
Andrew Kanouse

Popped in for a post-show drink. The draft selection leaves a little to be desired but their can selection is a little better. The atmosphere is fine, nothing terribly stand-out for the area. Reasonable prices for beer in the area.

One of the best soft pretzel in NYC. Go for the jalapeño cheese dipping sauce. Lots of beer and some cider choices. I recommend the cinnamon pear cider. Famous for their beer and whiskey only policy and they won’t disappoint. Definitely worth a visit.

C

Oddly lacking in atmosphere. Service was ok. I enjoy craft lager/pilsners but ended up leaving my pint. A little bit cheeky with the change meant having to leave a large tip or ask for smaller bills, so worth bearing in mind if paying with cash.

T
Tomas Walter

Regular american beer quality. Even if they say belgium or czech it is unfortunately still american beer. But I have to say the bar is nice and clean. Atmo is almost super nice retro. French fryes with chilly anf cheese were great.

Pablo Moreno González

We've been here a couple of times in the last few days. Perfect place to have a beer in a quiet environment near to Times Square, huge variety of beers, stouts and lagers, fully recommended. This being said, today (August 9th 4-6 p.m.) we had quite a bad experience with the bartender who literally tried to rip us off by over charging us for the beers we had ordered, and he did the same thing with our friends who ordered snacks for which he charged them twice the actual price. Fortunately we were able to get our money back only after complaining about it.

B
Billy

This is the only place ever I have ever been asked to buy something or leave, while actively putting money in a pinball machine. Starts are for having a Godzilla machine. $12 well tequila and a bartender who was ready to kick someone who wasn’t causing issues and was actively spending money in an almost empty bar get zero stars. To add to it, I was shot the snootiest attitude when I obliged and ordered a shot. Godzilla plays great, and it’s a brand new machine. I highly recommend giving it a play. Hard pass on coming here for the bar. Godzilla is the only reason I would return. TLDR. PINBALL IS GREAT. SERVICE IS NOT.

P
Paul Lockyer

Not exactly the hub of NY beer culture, but they had a decent selection of beer. My only complaint was the staff is pretty unfriendly and unhelpful, maybe because I was a tourist. The guy behind the bar made me feel like being there was an inconvenience to him. Won't be back.

S
Sara Abigail Salcedo

There was a bearded bartender who had been drinking since early on, at least from what I saw when I arrived. After several beers, I found the place amazing, and the alcohol was very good. I approached him, and since he was talking to someone else and there were obviously a lot of people, I signaled to him with my hand, pointing at him. He reacted very rudely, I imagine because he was under the influence of alcohol, as if someone was pointing in his face. It was very rude and dismissive, which I found very inappropriate considering that I am a customer. So, okay, I apologized because, obviously, I am a woman, and I felt scared. I then ordered what I wanted, he charged me, and that was that, but I find it very sad that this is the kind of service I received, and that the bartender was under the influence of alcohol while serving others. As a result, he reacted aggressively to anything that might have been misunderstood, like when I pointed at him, but it wasn’t in a bad way—it was like, “Hey, pay attention to me, I’m here,” because he was talking to other people, the music was loud, and it wasn’t intentional. I hope this doesn’t happen again, because I think it’s a very honest, nice, and cool place, but the service isn’t worth it.
