Cozy, old, warm, and classic atmosphere. They only take cash so come prepared! The fried calamari were perfect texture, and the calamari and endive salad with warm cherry tomatoes and capers is exactly as fresh and flavorful as they sound. The calamari in the salad was a completely different texture as the fried, and both were wonderful. We also had house-made gnocchi with marinara, which were the perfect texture and warmth, and the fresh basil on top added an easy, calm finish.
Convenient dinner near the museum of natural history. We got dishes like ricotta di bufala dorata e fritta and ravioli di ricotta e spinaci in burro e salvia. All the food was delicious. They were very accommodating for our large group, and so friendly and understanding of all our questions! Recommend this place for dinner!
It’s hard to find delicious food in this price point but it’s definitely here at this restaurant! House bread fantastic. The service was fast and attentive and the owner made me feel like I was at home. Awesome experience here.
It was an absolutely wonderful dinner! Despite a slight kerfuffle about our reservation they were super kind about it and were able to seat us quickly despite a packed house! We all argued over whose meal was the best (I maintain it was my lasagna) Definitely leave room for dessert and order the tiramisu or pistachio cake!
The best gluten free pizza I have ever had!!!! I’m celiac and they were very knowledgeable and helpful and accommodating for me. I also have a dairy allergy as well so they were able to remove things as needed. We got the pasta fagioli which was to die for and then we got the gluten-free Bolognese, which was insane. The meat was so tender and then as well as the salmon and everything was incredible even down to the sautéed spinach. 100% recommend for my gf friends!!!!
I ordered the pasta with vongole, and I really liked it, but the place is very small with too many tables. The waiters were constantly bumping into me; there's practically no space between the tables, it's very strange, but the food is delicious. We'll go back there. The service was basically fine, it's just that there were so many people, and they kept bumping into me and my jacket, but the food is really tasty, there are just a lot of people there. But everyone seems to like the place, the food is truly great.
We came in on a cold evening and got seated immediately, place was pretty crowded but the service was very quick and helpful. David was a great server helped us pick from a handful of dishes we couldn’t decide on and helped us througthe extensive wine list. Food came out immediately and was very very solid. I got the tagliatelle bolognese and my gf got some steak and arugula dish I can’t remember the name of. We agreed mine was better but we liked both.
This place is great! The ambience is super nice and the staff is really friendly. We ordered the mascarpone pizza to split for 4 and it was really delicious and came out super fast. It felt really authentic, especially since I miss the food from my hometown in Italy. Later on we ordered our specials and my Ravioli Di Bufala con Sugo Vesuvio was absolutely delicious! Food came out literally within 5 minutes of ordering and once again, the staff was great! The dessert was a cherry on top and the Panna Cotta was super creamy and fresh! 10/10 - would recommend to anyone!
Always a pleasure coming to Celeste for dinner. Real pastas and pizzas the real ITALIAN way. Waiters always take their time to discuss options and David made us feel welcomed. Owner is always walking around and making sure we're having a good time here. Make sure to book because it can be busy on weekend nights! Always having the Pasta a la norma because the eggplant is amazing.
I’m an old soul and so find myself drawn to establishments that feel cleaved from time, and focused on their craft over trendiness or artifice. I came here with friends from the UWS who’ve been coming to Celeste since taking their high school dates here. Immediately I was charmed by the owner who felt like an old friend. I ordered the leak soup, a special, and shared it with the love of my life while discussing our careers and future plans with another couple. The leak and potatoes were simple and supple, whetting my appetite. We had a good laugh with the charming waiter David then ordered four bologneses; as they say you only live once. Four bologneses, four minds blown. I myself felt cleaved from time. Though I was born in the early Clinton administration, the evening felt positively Eisenhoweresque. We ordered desserts and laughed about the small details from our lives. I forgot my worries, work deadlines, my late puppy and simply enjoyed the moment. Thank you Celeste, see you again.
Hands down one of the best Italian restaurants I’ve been to! Every dish was delicious, from the appetizers to dessert. You can really taste the quality and authenticity in the food. Portions were generous and everything was beautifully presented. A must-visit for Italian food lovers! Thanks David
Excellent dining experience! We enjoyed the shaved baby artichoke salad, halibut and wood fired pizza made with flour imported from Italy. Dessert you have to try the tiramisu and dark chocolate cake….amazing! Everything tasted fresh. The owner came over to provide suggestions for my wife who is gluten intolerant and vegan. Not a huge place but very cozy atmosphere!
It was a Saturday afternoon perfect day for lunch with my family. The vibe was relaxing and the food was astounding. We started with the house salad, simple and perfect. Next was the fried calamari and shrimp. It was lightning floured and seasoned then perfectly fried. So crispy. So much to choose from on the menu. Our entre selections were lasagna, spaghetti and clams, ravioli and gnocchi. Finished with chocolate cake, vanilla Gelato with espresso. I'm so glad we decided to visit. Staff was attentive and friendly. Bring cash!
This upper west side Italian is more of an institution. The main course is good - but are we not all just in it for the cheese? A great selection hurriedly described in Italian so you cannot understand. The host (who I assume is the owner) roams the restaurant and describes the cheese. He has mellowed with aged but is still very fun. You may feel a little packed in. CASH ONLY
Came to this hidden gem on the recommendation while we were celebrating a milestone birthday. The food is amazing, the staff are friendly, and Stefan is amazing. We ordered the fried artichokes, meatballs and black bass special. The tiramisu was delicious and they sang Happy Birthday to me. Highly recommend!!
Really great service for takeout from LJ! We got pizza for takeout but door dash messed up the order and they helped us out.
