We had a great experience at Telio. The gyro platters were large, filling, and absolutely delicious. My son tried a lamb gyro for the first time and loved it. The chicken gyros were made with white breast meat which was a big plus for us. The service was attentive and very friendly. Telio is a great new addition to the neighborhood. We really hope it sticks around, since this is the third restaurant in this spot since we moved to the area in 2021. We will definitely be back.
Fantastic new Greek restaurant, fancy-ish ambience yet still family friendly. Every dish was flavorful and appetizingly presented. The vegan stuffed eggplant was absolutely delicious, filled with sweet onions and tomatoes and savory mushrooms. The lemon potatoes melted in your mouth but the serving size was not worth the price (price wasn’t too high but amount was a bit skimpy). Beet hummus was excellent and the horiatiki salad was satisfying and bright (the capers added a fantastically salty touch). My daughter had the chicken souvlaki platter and said the meat was perfectly cooked and the rice fragrant with herbs. Only quibble was the tables all around us got their food significantly faster than we did. We waited a very long time between courses (it seemed like they forgot to fire our entrees). For the inconvenience the waiter brought my wife a glass of wine for our troubles which was a nice gesture, but with a hungry 9 year old it was a bit of a let down in an otherwise wonderful first experience. Hopefully things will go smoother on our next visit.
So excited to have a good Greek spot in the neighborhood!! The food was phenomenal, I loved the seafood pasta. My husband went bananas in love for the chicken souvlaki. Portion sizes were great. Service was P H E N O M E N A L! Adam was a funny and attentive server that went out of his way to make sure our meal was fantastic. The place was cozy. The perfect new spot for date night!
Brand new greek restaurant in the neighborhood and we already love it. Went to their soft opening yesterday and ordered some gyro plates, chicken and moussaka. Everything was delicious, the quality of the food was fantastic. We’ll be sure to come back many times
This is the most excited I've ever been to write a review about a restaurant. My wife and I are foodies, and eat out quite a bit. Telio blew us away tonight. Our server Adam was amazing and almost read our minds for dessert. Our neighborhood really needed a new hot spot and Telio filled that need in perfectly. We will be back tomorrow!
Wonderful! The food was on point and the staff was lovely! The space is sooo nice! I can’t wait to go back :) finally a place with clean eating that tastes good !
Underrated Greek spot in UWS! Am not too experienced with Greek food, but I really enjoyed the food! The somewhat high price came with a large portion of really good food. The bread was much more flavorful than I expected. We got a Tyrokafteri (red pepper and feta cheese spread) that was really tasty with the pita. The Tilapia Mediterranean was really nicely cooked a little crispy on the edges, and went really nicely with the rice and tomato flavors. The Greek Sampler was huge! The fries were fresh and crispy, and the meats were a nice sample of everything, and likely enough food for two to share. The desserts are likely the most underrated here. We only got a Pumpkin pie, but I was really impressed by the flavor and texture. It was surprisingly sweet, flavorful, and aromatic yet not as heavy as I would expect for a dessert. I would definitely go back to try the other desserts if I was in the area!
Local Upper West Side Greek restaurant with plenty of charm. Reservations are a must unless you go after 8 on a weekday. Food is good, flavorful and the portions are big. Nice outdoor seating especially if the weather cooperates. Inside seating has a warm ambience. Great food, reasonably priced a winner in my book!!!
Quaint place, very quiet, the waiter and all the staff were amazing. The food was delicious, the drinks were good. My husband loves the blueberry, and they have many to choose from. I will definitely go back. I highly recommend this place. 01/14/2025.
Dinner was fantastic! The food tasted great! Our night was one we will never forget thanks to Gus. The services were excellent. I would highly suggest this experience to others. Can’t wait for the wine tasting event that’s coming up.
A great spot for good Greek food! The server (maybe the owner?) was lovely and always checking on us. The gyros were HUGE portions and very delicious. Loved their sampler of spreads and they quickly gave us extra pita so we could finish it all. Would definitely go back!
Very nice place. I really enjoy my diner there. Big plates . Delicious food. Very good and friendly service. You Greek guys are the best there. You can say right away that there are Greeks in there though... Haha!! I hope I'll visit again New York City so I can come again to your shop.
Delicious food and incredible service! The owner is from a small town in Greece and you can truly taste it. I had the stuffed eggplant and it was fantastic.
OMG.....BEST GREEK FOOD EVER!! I love love love the grilled octopus!! Always a favourite. Must come here!! Great wait staff; friendly always. Great service too.
Visited this nice restaurant after a day's visit in the American Museum of Natural History. Service was super attentive and the Greek food was very good. Very recommend.
NEVER in all my dining experiences have I been to an eatery such as Telio restaurant. The hůmmuse reminded me of my time spent in mikonos in the late 70s. Oh! What a time. Thank you for bringing me back. The dancing, the music, the fashion, it all came flooding back. Thank you telio! Telio, you are enchanting and you are love. The atmosphere touches the soul, beautiful! So glad I stumbled upon this place that only serves dinner. I would recommend the halloumi.
Amazing food and atmosphere with excellent service so come and support our fabulous Greek friends of Telio’s...yum yum!
great greek food. The wait Staff was phenomenal. They made you feel right at home.

Happy to have Telio reopened i. our neighborhood- great food and the new restaurant had a great ambiance
Dinner was delicious. Servers were kind and attentive. Go for the dips. We’ll definitely be back!
a great new restaurant. elevated food, excellent happy hour and lunch specials!
Nice food, friendly staff, good value for money
I organized a party of 15 people for a graduation ceremony for my daughter. The reservation included two babies and a dog. I had called a number of restaurants in Manhattan, looking for a place to accommodate us that included vegan options and was not able to find much. Telio Taverna exceeded all of my expectations. Most importantly, the food was absolutely delicious. The wonderful waitress we had was able to manage 15 people giving her individual orders and getting the food to the table still hot. The outdoor atmosphere was perfect. The management clearly removed two tables to make room for our little ones and the dog. Nobody felt cramped. I highly recommend this restaurant for its atmosphere, it’s food, and its staff. Everything was perfect! thank you Telio Taverna!
It is a great place. Great food. Friendly workers. Love the place!
What a pleasure! The Upper West needed this place. Highest quality home-style cooking with flair, heads above the same, same Greek fare one usually finds. (Grandma is actually in the kitchen and you taste her heart in family recipes). The moussaka was beautiful and the seafood was super fresh. Don’t miss the zucchini fritters filled with fresh dill. I was also happy to see their beautiful renovation/transformation from the restaurant that preceded them. We felt so welcomed by the warm, friendly staff, and the space was so inviting. The light airy vibe with organic details and warm olive color scheme made me forget Broadway was just outside. Oh, and a great bar / happy hour to consider ;) We will be back!
Awesome addition to the neighborhood! We had the shrimp saganaki, halloumi, chicken meatballs and a chopped green salad with fresh herbs. Everything was really excellent, flavorful and bright. The shrimp was especially impressive…not your typical tasteless restaurant shrimp. It was vibey and fun at the bar and service was warm. My martini was also in a real martini glass…not a mini. Nice touch to make you feel not ripped off these days in nyc!
Went in expecting to try out the new neighborhood restaurant and ended up blown away! The service was top notch, seated by the manager/owner and our server was extremely friendly. Beyond that, the food was served so quickly and was phenomenal. Specifically the Lamb Shank Youvetsi. Did NOT expect to get that level of flavor/quality when we went in. Will absolutely return and excited to see how the other dishes hold up to the first one.
So happy this terrific Mediterranean restaurant has opened on tbe UWS. Adriana is terrific! She had great recomendations and was very attentive and friendly. The food was delicious. We had tbe dolmadikas ( Grape leaves) Gyro ( beef & lamb) and tbe swordfish solvakas. Every thing g was fresh and very tasty. Will definitely be coming back.
We had a delicious meal at Telio's last night, with friends. The Greek chicken soup was wonderful. We also enjoyed a flavorful Branzino with crisp edges, lemon potatoes and a lamb shank with orzo, in a tomatoe sauce. The food and atmosphere made it a very nice evening out.
The service is impeccable, and the food tastes authentic to Greece. Everything is finely flavored and perfectly balanced. They do seafood beautifully! And the Souvlaki is incredible. The tzatziki is absolutely amazing! Please find Adam and he will take care of you!!! A fantastic date spot or casual, laid-back dinner any night of the week.
This was my third visit to Telio Estiatorio, and the experience remains consistently outstanding. The food quality is truly exceptional and consistent—every dish I've had across all my visits has been superb. A special mention must go to the Moussaka, which is the very definition of the authentic Greek recipe; rich, comforting, and perfectly layered. Greek Loukaniko, Haloumi cheese, orzo and Lambchops are highly recommended too! The customer service is very good, driven by staff that is both friendly and genuinely welcoming. The restaurant offers excellent prices on the menu, providing high-quality food and service that delivers tremendous value for your money. This place is ideal for any occasion. Highly recommended!
My husband, daughter and I just had dinner at Telio. The food was excellent, particularly the octopus, chicken soulaki (superb quality organic chicken, freshly cooked and moist) and the papoutsakia (stuffed eggplant). Servicings were generous and I'm stuffed. This is just the kind of restaurant the UWS needs.
Brand new. I have eaten at some of the best Greek & Mediterranean restaurants in midtown and this is, dare I say, even better! Good prices and service is attentive and so polite. Plus the owner is around to chat...
I’m Greek, and this is better than many Greek restaurants in Greece. If you want great Mediterranean food, this is the place to go.
Everything was fantastic. Food was exceptional, service was great and the owner couldn't have been more gracious and welcoming!
Stopped by Telio because there was a lot of outdoor seating and seemed like a pleasant environment to eat dinner in. My party was seated quickly and the servers were very friendly. I got the chicken souvlaki sandwich platter which came with a sandwich, fries, and tzatziki sauce. The fries were really good, perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Salad was pretty fresh, I really liked the tomatoes. The chicken souvlaki itself was a little dry. Overall the food was fine, but not anything amazingly overwhelming. There was some live music playing just as I was leaving, so I would probably come again to check out the music.
Great good. I never knew this place existed, it’s sort of part of good enough to eat. Food was very good
Ate dinner here for Valentine’s Day with my husband. The host got into an argument with a server about table arrangements while we were being seated, so there was an awkward two minutes where we were standing in the middle of the restaurant watching the argument. Once we were seated, our server was very attentive and the person bussing our table was excellent. The fried calamari was pretty rubbery (needed less time in the fryer), but we finished it because we were starving. My husband loved the chicken soup and the pasta with meat sauce, and the beef patties with lemon potatoes that I ordered were pretty good. The chocolate lava cake we split for dessert was very yummy. Overall, a pretty good meal once we were seated. I’ll probably come back and try some different menu items. I could tell based on the clientele that lots of people are happy to have a Mediterranean spot in the area.
Overall great neighborhood resturant. The food could've used some more excitement for the appetizers or better flavor profile but the entrées more than made up for it. Service was good and atmosphere was better.
We had a wonderful rehearsal dinner at Telio! The was expertly prepared and tastes great! There was plenty and everyone left full. The staff was warm and hospitable and our family felt welcome. I highly recommend Telio for dinner or an event. Rita and her team will not disappoint!
Service was good. They were attentative however I was not impressed so much with the food. The mussels didnt come with bread unless I asked. While in the process of finishing my appetizer, my main dish came. I was asked if I wanted to keep it warm while I finished my appetizer at that point, I quickly took my main course. Ordered a Greek sampler for $39. However, the presentation was horrible. It looked like a blob with dried fries as topping. I was not impressed at all.
Decided to eat here after walking around the neighborhood. Somewhat busy for a Saturday night but they had enough outdoor seating. The chicken was a bit dry and the food did take quite some time to come out. Not sure if I’ll stop by again but the prices weren’t too bad for the portion size.
The food was delicious. Lamb burger with lemon potatoes, but sadly their frappe machine was broken and NO Mythos. Was trying to get a "full" Greek experience, but the beverages I wanted weren't available. That's why only 3 stars
Went in for the first time hoping for something special. It wasn’t special but rather pretty good. Mu first problem was the 20 dollar semi martini. I’ll pay the price but am troubled by a half filled glass. Ordered a second. One full Martini, thirty eight bucks. Ouch! The food was good but only so. I will return and give it a second chance. The service was top notch.
My husband and I often have brunch at this restaurant when it’s “Good Enough To Eat” which is always delicious. So I’m sad to say that the Greek menu was not up to the breakfast standard. The hummus was too lemony, without any garlic flavor. It was basically tasteless. I ordered the stuffed cabbage with lemon potatoes. It comes in a bowl swimming in a lemon butter sauce. The meat in the cabbage was mediocre at best with a very thin cabbage wrapped around it. It also did not look appetizing. The potatoes had so much lemon it was almost like biting into a lemon. It was so strong I couldn’t eat it. My husband had a gyro platter which was much better but we’ve had better from other Greek restaurants. The fries were the best thing on that plate. Also, I let the waitress know but she charged me for it anyway. We won’t come back to the Greek tavern but will continue to visit for brunch.
Awful Gyros and Souvlaki, they basically just put a greek salad in a pita and call it gyros. The most important part of the greek cuisine is the Tzatziki sauce, which should be made with thick greek yogurt and fresh cucumber. Here you get a liquid yogurt with some garlic in it.
High prices for average food and small servings. The first sign was the pita bread tasting like microwavable food, stiff and not even warm. This is a Greek spot and you can’t even serve fluffy, warm pita?? Then the hummus and other spreads were barely flavorful. The hummus wasn’t even a soft, decadent creamy spread. They also charged our table for extra pita without telling us… This place has a nice ambience but the food was soooooo bland and mid. It actually tasted like they microwaved half of it and brought it out. Nothing came out piping hot or flavorful. I expect so much more from a Greek spot. Save your money and your time and go elsewhere.
