Great spot with delicious food. It is properly priced for the area but will seem expensive, especially for asian cuisine. Service was great. I will say the bathroom is downstairs and has that old water smell. Just a heads up. Enjoy!
Really delicious Chinese food, kind & attentive staff, and wonderful atmosphere. We split a meal because the portions were generous at a good price. The chicken was very flavorful, crispy, and juicy. The rice was perfection and the pan seared dumplings were fabulous. Will definitely be returning next time we’re in the city.
this place is sooo good. i’m here for happy hour (sitting at the bar) and i couldn’t be more satisfied. i’m being helped by jenny and she is the sweetest and most kind and helpful person. the food is amazing and the prices are reasonable and im happy this place is in my hood. thank you jenny for making this dining experience special.
I would say that mostly food in China is more authentic, but still the place and the service are great! Staff is very polite. Tables and places at all are clean.
I had the pleasure of going here a couple of times in the past week and was impressed by the menu and the service each time. We were immediately greeted and sat at a table in the back dining room, which can be mostly private or lively, especially as there are some larger tables back there. We had the xiao long bao, both pork and crab and they were nicely prepared and flavored, with the traditional vinegar served and we carefully navigated getting them off the paper in the dim sum steamer and onto the soup spoon. Warm, brothy and tasty! We had some shumai and pan seared pork dumplings that also were nicely prepared. As we were celebrating a special occasion we had a dish off the menu, scallion and ginger crab. It was expertly prepared and the delicate crab and the tasty sauce mixed well together. The standout dishes continued with the dry sautéed crispy shredded beef, the Tingling Curry Chicken hot casserole, and the red cooked short ribs in Hang Chow style being ultimate comfort food in the cold weather. The Shanghai fried rice was also top notch as an accompaniment or could be a main course. We had some pea shoots as well as some water spinach (off the menu). Both brought clean, bright flavors and some greens to the mix, though the beef ribs come with some greens as well. Service was attentive and the water glasses and tea cups were kept full throughout our meals. It is an excellent, traditional Shanghainese restaurant and the casserole recipes have been handed down from generation to generation, bringing deep, wonderful flavors, as they are slow cooked to perfection.
Our go to lunch spot when we're visiting the Natural History Museum. The food is good, fast, and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere. I always joke that Chinese restaurants in real life never look like they do in movies with the nice decor and pretty round doorways, but this one does! Do not miss the soup dumplings! The skin is nice and thin, not doughy at all--and the soup is delicious! A lot of places have flavorless soup or too much grease. But theirs are really tasty. This time we also had the crispy duck which was excellent! I love that they have real, traditional Mandarin pancakes with their duck instead of the fluffy bao, which seems to be more popular at other places that are less authentic.
The dim sum is very good and has a lot of options. The flavor of everything is always on point. The staff are beyond amazing. Best service I’ve had in the UWS. They’re polite, attentive, and extremely friendly. If you’re dining solo, I recommend sitting at the bar and you’ll be served with a smile. Good for groups as well. Highly recommend!!!
Great Dim Sum and really good Lychee Martinis. Was walking by and had a craving for dim sum. This atmosphere is lovely and the staff were so friendly. Steamed dumplings were excellent. They were light and so tasty. Truly authentic upscale Chinese food. Happy Hour 3-6 with great pricing.
This place was perfect for a quick meal for my family and I after tiring ourselves out at the museum. We were 30 minutes early for our reservation but they were able to accommodate 6 adults and a toddler very quickly. It was also pleasantly surprising that the waiter picked up on our ethnicity and spoke to us in our native language with some phrases. All of our dishes were served quickly, and were so delicious. We got 2 orders of fried rice because it was perfectly seasoned. We couldn’t get enough! Ordered: scallion pancake, cold roast duck appetizer, har gow, pork xiao long bao, shredded duck wraps, pan fried noodles, chicken fried rice, pork spare ribs. We are making this place our new dining spot whenever we’re in the area, we loved it!
Great tasting food at a reasonable price for the location. Our waitor was very attentive and gave our son some ice cream with a candle on top for his birthday and helped sing the happy birthday song with a smile. Food portions are perfect for sharing (our usual method of eating out family style). I left feeling satisfied and content.
I can't believe this was my first time trying dim sum! Future expectations are set! Our server was incredible! I tried the tri-nut chicken (i don't think that's the official name) based on his recommendation.. great choice! The other person in my party had the Gu-lu pork with pineapple. We also had an order of the turnip shortcakes, pork dumplings, and the duck roll. We both had two alcoholic drinks. The plum wine and lychee martini are a must try! Excited to come back for happy hour! An easy walk from AMNH also.
Great waiters. Always asking if I was comfortable and if the food/ drinks were up to par. Had the Shanghai noodles with curry and the steamed shrimp dumplings. Both were incredible. Was told the noodles would be spicy but didn’t really get that much of a kick. Still delicious and a healthy portion too. Lagavulin 16 was great and the second was a pineapple vodka concoction which was great. Nice ambiance in restaurant. Very impressed!
I'm going to keep this brief as possible. The service was extremely attentive. My water glass didn't have a chance to empty. The waiter checked in on my party frequently, which I like. The decor inside was elegant with low calming music which sets a pleasant atmosphere. The chairs were comfortable, sturdy & plus size friendly. I say this as a plus sized person with an ample bottom & hips. The food was brought to the table quickly and piping hot. When I say piping hot I'm NOT exaggerating about the temp. When the food arrives please let it cool for a minute or two or you will burn the hell out of your mouth. The quality and the taste was wonderful. Every thing was fresh, well seasoned, and all around yummy. All in all TriDimWest is a lovely place to dine. Treat yourself and go.
Best Chinese food by far on the upper west side. Friendly service. Great atmosphere in a very well laid out and unique space. A very comfortable lounge area in the front to sit and enjoy a cocktail before dinner. Excellent dim sum - soup wontons are a must! I will definitely be visiting Trip Dim West again very soon.
Nice casual Chinese food. No wait for walk in Friday night. Really liked the liquid egg yolk bun and bean curd puff. Soup dumplings could have been more flavorful. String bean eggplant was a bit too sweet snd saucy. The shredded beef was decent but flavors seemed a bit generic. Overall nice place, good service, and decent selection of dim sum and Shanghai style dishes.
Tridim West is known for its traditional Chinese Cuisine and mouthwatering dim sum. We tried the crab pork soup dumplings , crispy shrimp balls—they all packed with flavor and oh-so-delicious! The decor is modern and nice. Whether you’re a dim sum fan or exploring the Upper West Side, this spot is a must-try! ✨ Featured: -Crab Pork Soup Dumplings -Hong-Kong Shumai -Crispy Shrimp Balls -Shanghai Sautéed Thick Noodles -Crispy Whole Sea Bass in Hunan Style -Sizzling Rice Cracker Soup Follow @spinx17 for more NYC food recs!
Good food! But no specialty or unique dishes. The menu is very much catered to the UWS customers, but they do their dishes quite well. The pork buns were especially great, and were sweet and perfectly steamed. Service was good. Overall a nice place to have on the UWS, and great for classic (although a bit Americanized) dim sum.
It's Lunar New Year and I don't have my family here to do our traditional homemade cooking. I looked up several different places for specific dishes to celebrate but also represents specific things (wealth, prosperity, health, longevity, etc.). I was able to find a few things here, which was great! At first I thought they weren't delivering and was able to figure it out. The food hit the spot and delivery was super fast!
Walked into this place on a weekday evening and it was silent. Like, “library with no books” silent. Service was lightning fast though—blink and your food's there. Portions? Respectable. Taste? Ehh… it exists. Not bad, not amazing, just kind of there. Like the background music in an elevator. Not mad I went, not in a rush to go back either. 🥢📉
Incredibly small portion sizes. Sesame chicken was tough and lots of gristle and the $20 order had like 8 pieces. Mei fun was just ok, but the portion was like an appetizer. Not worth it at all
