It has a great happy hour and the oysters and clams were very fresh! The sushi roll was very good as well. The bartender was very friendly and helpful with choosing items. The calamari dish for happy hour had too much sauce over it, but the calamari itself was well prepared.
$1.50 oysters and clams per piece is outstandingly good! Cherrystone clams are huge and so satisfactory that I can't believe it's just $1.50🥰 You need to be seated to the bar counter to get Happy Hour menu, though.
This by far was the best experience of a 5 course meal. The service was outstanding with EVERYTHING.
We went for lunch and the service was knowledgable and superb. The fig and arugula salad was tops as were the LI oysters. The clam chowder was tasty, but thin and light on the clams. The crab cakes have no fillers and are indeed tasty, but the crab has no lumps of crab, is shredded crab. The cheesecake was the best these New Yorkers have tasted in a long time. Delicious. Noise level can be high, less so at lunch. We look forward to another visit soon.
Had an amazing experience on a very busy New Year's Eve. The entire place was festive, lively and beautifully decorated for the holidays. The food was amazing, in particular the Smoked Oysters Rockefeller, presented under a dome, was a standout! All seafood was freshly prepared and delicious. Service from beginning to end was outstanding, huge shout out to Mary, our server! We did not sit at the bar, but the Oyster Happy Hour is apparently legendary. Just found our new neighborhood restaurant, we'll definitely be back.
Excellent happy hour and great sushi. The bar was packed but the maître d' went above and beyond to seat us. Spicy tuna and spicy yellowtail rolls were excellent - fish was fresh and good quality, not too much rice. Good selection of happy hour items including oysters. I can't wait to go back.
This place HAS NOT LOST ITS QUALITY, Amazing great, fresh food!!! 11/11/2026- Went with my parents for a late lunch. Taking vacation time off to spend time with them! Ordered from the main menu. The fried calamari was sooo soft and well-battered. The dragon roll was delicious and the baked clams were incredibly buttery. Our main entree was salmon. We each loved it. Crispy skin and great squash side. Salmon cooked delicious!!! 2 rounds of Chablis, … I had my Belvedere martini and the service was impeccable. A proper and decent $430.00 meal! Will go there again! Next will try the raw oysters and I’m sure my wife will want to eat the tuna steak!
Great spot for after work drinks, lunch meetings, and even dinner. Food is high quality. Oysters are fresh, as are calamari, and shrimp dishes. The lunch deal with an appetizer and main is a good deal, although it can feel a bit glutinous as servings are quite generous. I've not had a bad meal there. Happy hour drinks are also cheerful, and not so packed. Bar staff are friendly. At lunch and dinner the service has been ok, they take your order, nothing to write home about. Ample room and quiet enough to talk. Good wine selection.
We used to live 9 blocks from here and went quite often. Coming back for a meal was coming home to the neighborhood. We had the scampi starter, iceberg wedge fried calamari, baked lobster with baked potato and coleslaw, grilled striped Sea-bass with lobster mashed potatoes. All followed up with key lime pie. The scampi and the baked lobster Keylime pie were the superstars. The rest were good supporting dishes. The staff is motivated and enthusiastic and Margaret is very welcoming.
Amazing spot! Margaret was an outstanding server—super attentive and kind. We came for happy hour and were so impressed with the great prices on small bites and drinks. Everything we ordered was fresh, delicious, and full of flavor. The cocktails were perfectly made. Can’t wait to come back!
Wow! What a great experience we had - I am always a bit hesitant when menus do not have Gluten Free options noted on the menu (it really isn't that hard and it does make it so much easier for us celiacs) but I will give this restaurant a pass, as the server did an amazing job of ensuring the selections I made met the *GF* standards. The service was top notch, not too pushy, yet attentive enough to get our orders when needed. The food was a knock out, I consider myself a wedge salad expert and this is one of the best, alongside oysters rockafeller (no breadcrumbs) and truffle fries (they do not have a dedicated fryer - I am not super sensitive and can have a few without incident). We stayed and had after dinner drinks, and were not disappointed with the service and overall experience. Next time we are back in NYC, this will definitely be a place we will visit!
We had an amazing time. Was our first time definitely worth it. For the first time I had order only seafood meal for the table. My honey loves seafood whereas I had just started eating cooked seafood( improving on eating raw seafood 😝).I hesitated on trying raw for years until now. Glad we chose Docks oyster bar for dinner date night. I want to highlight our SERVER KEVIN AND JONATHAN. They both were fabulous. Very attentive and friendly people. We had ROYALE PLATEAU SCALLOPS RISING SUN ROLL Everything hit the spot. Would definitely love to visit again. Highly recommended 100%
We've dined at Docks Oyster Bar a handful of times over the years. It's one of my favorite seafood places in NYC that is more on the casual side. The food is always great and the bar area is fantastic. I always try and make it over here whenever I'm in the Grand Central area. Highly recommended!
The dining experience was wonderful. My friend and I chose the restaurant week menu. I had the leave it out Mocktail, which was tasty. Salmon Avacado Tartare, Crispy Oyster Salad, Short Ribs, Seafood Curry Couscous and Cranberry Apple Crumble. The food was well seasoned and delicious. The waitress and staff were polite and attentive. We will be back again.
The atmosphere was amazing, and the friendly service from the servers really stood out. I was intrigued by the kimchi fried rice on the menu, so I decided to give it a try. The combination of green onion oil and kimchi was fantastic. It was a bit greasy, but as a Korean, I was very satisfied!
My fiancé and I stumbled upon this gem and agreed it is now one of our new favorite restaurants. We received 5-star service from the waitstaff, and the food was great! The halibut was perfectly cooked, the scallops were incredible, cheesecake was worth 5 stars all on its own, and the chocolate pudding was decadent and delicious. We will absolutely be coming back soon!
The place is massive and can be a bit loud. The bar area gets crowded during happy hour. They have a private room too if needed. For dinner I had the beet salad which was a light start to the meal. The halibut was flaky and had a delicate flavor to it as well. Didn’t have the oysters though. Not a big fan of oysters. The key lime pie was a nice finish to the meal. Nothing wow’d me here so not sure I would come back. Bathroom is small too for a place that size.
This is only for my experience with the foods we chose this time, I would be curious about the sushi rolls. Came here on an impromptu date after work and due to my partner having enjoyed a work place meal there last month and wanted to show it to me, particularly the oysters. Food: They have an oyster happy hour at the bar with $1.50 oysters, it was full so we took a table and ordered the OYSTER COLLECTION a dozen east and west coast oysters. These were excellent and my favorite part of the meal, fresh, our server offered Tabasco, along with fresh and zingy horseradish, cocktail sauce, and mignonette (or their version of it) fair price and great selection. I wish they had told us which was which. Got the SMOKED OYSTERS ROCKEFELLER which came out in a fun glass dome presentation, they had nice flavor but I wasn’t thrilled, they didn’t really have a temperature to them? I’m not sure if that was on purpose. I went with the prefix bc the deal for $60 seemed good and I liked something in each category; appetizer, entree, and dessert. The mans went with a Caesar salad and lobster. The Cesar, which we mean to share, he immediately didn’t like—it had bitter radicchio, greens and although the dressing was said to made in house there simply wasn’t enough to taste, I mean you don’t want to over dress a salad but if you go to the trouble of making it here, make sure it’s featured. The server got him the clam chowder instead and I’d gotten the mussels and seafood soup. I love soup. And I can promise you this $17 (no joke) half cup of soup was beyond disappointing. Lukewarm, little to no seasoning, mainly little tasteless potato chunks, and very little of the featured protein of the soup. We had to salt and pepper it to get anything and I even added the hot sauce I kept, I’ve had better canned soup, man even that bagged soup from Panera had more to it. Despite our efforts to make it taste like something we’d like to eat? Neither of us finished bc it just wasn’t worth it. The entrees were fine, my partner really liked the lobster prep and cook, and the jacket potato which came with little fixings on the side and a surprisingly good Cole slaw as well. I got the little feature, Sea bass or some meaty white fish over stewed tomatoes. It was quite nice, if not all too creative. The dessert came with my pre-fix and we shared, a berry crumble I didn’t bother to take a picture of, it was a little cup with soggy, slightly warmed berry and crumble, with a little ice cream scoop—every homemade crumble of any fruit was MUCH more tasty than that thing that we paid for. Just a bit unimpressive food for that price that makes me question if anything is cooked in the kitchen beside the proteins and that dressing, like is any of it made in house? DRINKS: We got a bottle of Pinot Grigio, wine presentation was perfect. I say that bc I’ve had to learn wine presentation and teach it many times over, and it does take a minute and a steady hand while having to serve others. SERVICE: We had Benjamin, he was polite, prompt, and did a perfectly fine job, checked with us for coursing and everything. I don’t know if it’s Dock’s policy tho? Places I’ve worked, even the silly kitschy job I had in Times Square, if your guest doesn’t finish their food? You see what was wrong with it—like the soups. But everyone was polite and present, professional. ATMOSPHERE: Really lively. The warm lighting was great, clean bathrooms, easily navigated floor plan with enough space, great looking bar and very impressive to walk through. Specials were listed on a visible board and easy to read, music was at level that was easy to tune out or in. Overall, was it a bad experience? Not at all! Thank you for the dinner, we had a lovely time together, the food was just a bit below the pricing and atmospheric standard we had. Probably wouldn’t eat here again but would recommend the oyster happy hour for the nice space and staff.
Ordered the seafood pasta lunch special, which on the menu clearly said it came with shrimp, crab, and squid. What I got had only shrimp. When I pointed it out, the server suggested it might actually only come with shrimp and went to ask the manager. The manager just brought crab and squid separately , instead of bringing out a new plate. Considering it was their mistake, I found the response quite disappointing and not very customer-focused. Definitely expected better service.
