So wife and I happened to get to Grand Centeal and no downtown trains on a Sunday. The bus was taking forever, so we decided to walk down Lexington. Saw the Jamaican flag and instantly the wife was hungry. Best decision her stomach ever made! Walked in and was welcomed immediately! It was empty at first but shortly filled up. Atmosphere was not the typical “Jamaican restaurant”. I’d say maybe upscale for a Jamaican spot. ShaniceR was our server and she was GREAT!!! Wife had the shrimp rasta pasta, I had the curry chicken. The shrimp rasta pasta was obviously FRESH! The pasta was delicious! Wife and I cleaned the plates…so they don’t have to…but I’m sure they did! Also, VERY IMPORTANT: try the mixed frozen drinks on the wall next to the bar…Shanice recommended the rum punch mixed with another flavor, I’m too tipsy to remember the other flavor. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!! If you’re ever in the midtown Manhattan area by Grand Central, DEFINITELY give this spot a try! You won’t regret it!

On a freezing evening we ordered Uber eats from here and it was amazing. Well cooked with a nice balance. Very impressed. Perfect portion size. Slaw is lovely and fresh and really adds to the dish. Chicken serving was perfect size and spiced well. We had the jerk chicken with rice and peas. Delicious and highly recommended.

I had a very good Oxtail Stew with Rice & Peas on a Saturday lunch time. It wasn't cheap and it wasn't a huge portion when you take the bone away, but that's a relief in the USA, quite honestly. The service was very friendly and attentive and the food was absolutely delicious - the Oxtail fell off the bone just like it's supposed to. I'd certainly go back.

It’s hard to find authentic Jamaican cuisine in Manhattan. Found this place on google, and ordered to take out. I had the curry goat with rice and peas and cold salad. With an avocado side. The avocado side was $7!, i found that to be crazy, but still ordered it lol. The goat was well seasoned and tender, rice was nice and shelly, and i could taste the aroma of coconut milk in the rice. 10/10. The gentleman that was at the front was very polite and professional I would revisit and dine in this time.

Delicious and packed with flavor. As a Caribbean person, I can easily spot inauthentic Jamaican food, and this is the real deal. The kale salmon salad was incredibly flavorful, blending the rich spices of jerk with tropical notes like mango and lime. It’s one of the best salads I’ve had in a long time. The beef patty was perfectly flaky, and the filling was tender. I can’t wait to return and explore more of their menu.

My trips to Jamaica as a child left me with a craving for authentic Jamaican cuisine, which I've missed deeply. When I moved back to NYC, I was lucky enough to work with a Jamaican colleague who introduced me to the wonders of fried fish from a local food truck—it was a revelation! Since then, I've been on the lookout for Jamaican flavors right here in my neighborhood. The variety, the rich history, and the sheer joy that Jamaican food brings is something I've longed to experience again. The moment I saw Jumieka NYC was open, I couldn't resist; I went straight in with my son and a friend. We dove into their Curry Goat served with rice and peas, and it was absolutely sublime—the gravy was to die for! My son tried his first curry goat there and was instantly hooked. We left already planning our next visit. Jumieka NYC is a fantastic addition to our community, and I'm thrilled to have a taste of Jamaica so close to home. Can't wait to go back and explore more of their delicious menu!

Jumieka is a vibe, period! I go there all the time because it’s simply great authentic Caribbean food. When I have a late night at the office, I go to Jumieka to unwind and have a tasty dinner before trekking home. Believe me when I tell you, they NEVER disappoint! Nuff respect!!!

I got the chicken roti wrap ("Jerk Burrito"), the chicken charred to perfection and the flavors were phenomenal. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu. This place is secretly huge inside with additional and private event seating on the second floor. They're still waiting on their liquor license but the drinks menu looks like it will be legit (with reasonable prices).

I ordered the oxtail plate, and let me tell you—the food was beyond amazing. I didn’t leave a single grain of rice on my plate! The oxtail was tender, well-seasoned, and left me wishing I had a bigger stomach because my eyes wanted more, but I was perfectly satisfied after that plate. My co-worker ordered the curry chicken, which I got a taste of, and it was also delicious, but I’m sticking with the oxtail as my favorite. My only mistake? The drinks were amazing as well. Our server Shanice R was great; she definitely catered to our needs. It’s a small place but charming. Even the bathroom is nice. The women’s bathroom was CLEAN and that’s one thing I think about when going to a restaurant. It’s black and gold and the faucet has black fixtures. The food was DELICIOUS! The salmon had the fresh off the fire grill taste , smell and texture. The escovitch red snapper was the best I’ve had in a LONG time(and I usually get my Jamaican food from Queens and Brooklyn). The oxtail needed another hour or 2 on the stove. It was still a little tough. The drinks were weak tbh, it tasted like fruit juice and it was missing the alcohol, still was delicious overall. I will DEFINITELY go back for more and I’m definitely going to order for delivery when I’m at work.

The veggie roti is just scrumptious seasoned perfectly with curry chick peas, crisp green beans and carrot and potatoes topped off with some ripe plaintain. The ginger beer reminds me of how my Grandmother used to make it. They have a diverse menu with lots of amazing choices so as they say back home, no worries, tek it easy 🇯🇲 Upstairs is an amazing oasis for larger group sizes or you can lounge by the bar and catch the latest NFL or NBA game. Big up to Executive Chef Kemis and team who are the brainchild and heart of the operation. He is so welcoming with a genuine passion for top notch food and outstanding service. First time staying in the midtown area and came across this restaurant! As soon as I walked in I was welcomed by the chef. He was very friendly and the bartender Ricky is hilarious!! Great atmosphere and vibes! The food was amazing I had to come back the next day for dinner again! Love this place and I’ll definitely be back! Highly recommended!!!!

I love this place nice area, nice staff. I enjoyed my time there. My niece told her uncle and I about when she learning her cooking services but we couldn't go then but it was on our list. It was worth going we wanted to order everything on menu. The drinks was good. I order coconut drink it was good that I was feeling good lol walking not so well. Amazing experience at Jumeika Jamaican Restaurant in Manhattan! We ordered the oxtails meal with rice and peas and cabbage, and everything was cooked perfectly. The oxtails were tender and full of flavor. We also tried the coconut corn and a beef patty. Both were delicious. To top it all off, we finished with a cream soda. No complaints at all. Special shoutout to Ricky, who helped us out. He was very polite, helpful, and made the experience even better. I especially loved the cabbage. It reminded me of how Haitians make pikliz, so flavorful and well seasoned. Definitely coming back. Highly recommend! Sorry forgot to take photos. As you can see we were really hungry. Don’t worry they’re not cheap with the gravy!

The food: AMAZING The people: AMAZING The atmosphere: 101/10 I don’t even know where to begin other than the regulars and staff who were absolutely the kindest people I have ever met. I highly recommend the Curry Goat with rice and peas and the Ox Tails were absolutely delicious as well as the carrot and black cake. Everything was fall off the bone tender and mouth wateringly tasty. It was an amazing experience being in a little slice of Jamaica with amazing people and I will absolutely come back!!! ——— from sadness

Delightful Jamaican place. Flavors are nice but I thought a bit on the mild side. If you want the Jamaican experience with a little less heat this is the place. We started with the coconut corn appetizer which reminded me of street corn with Caribbean flavors. We had oxtail and lamb chops for the main course. Both were delicious and cooked perfectly. I was thinking of getting dessert with an extra scoop of ice cream, but decided against it when I was informed that a extra scoop of ice cream was an extra $10 for a $15 dessert already. I would consider eating here again when I have cravings for Jamaican food, but I wouldn't eat here regularly due to the cost.

Got the Rice & Peas and Jerk Chicken through Uber Eats but it came warm which quickly went cold so I want able to thoroughly enjoy. I thought coleslaw was too sweet and interfered with the taste of the rice & peas. The Jerk chicken on the other hand was as authentic as they come and the quantity was equally generous.

I have no idea how this restaurant has a five star rating. The food was basic for Jamaican food. They got my order wrong and the portion sizes for the price is ridiculous because it’s located in Manhattan, but it’s excusable Jamaican food is known for strong power flavors, generous portions.

The food is good. I ordered curry goat. I was charged $38.11. Had nothing to drink or a side. When I got home all I got was bones. So I paid almost $40 dollars for bones. This will be my last time at this restaurant.

We had the BBQ chicken starter and braised oxtail. Both tasted pretty good but the price was up 50% + no lunch special compared to normal days, watch out when coming here on holidays

On my lunch break arrived at 2:19 was told I am not eligible for the lunch special which ended at 2 o’clock, which was no problem ordered off of the general menu also ordered a fruit punch of fruit punch tasted like guava, which is not a flavor I like so asked them to cancel said order After canceling. No one brought me back a menu for the drink which was weird so I requested a menu, the menu was brought to me and no one in 15mins, No one came back to ask me what I wanted to have to drink. I literally felt like I needed to leave this establishment as they did not value my time all my money because clearly I was begging for juice.

I ordered it via Uber Eats (1st timer, buy one, get one free). Delivery arrived timely. Despatch/Courier was polite and friendly. But the meal - Jerk Chicken with rice and peas came with rice without the peas. The meal was also cold and salty, I had to microwave it.

Not good or authentic. Flavors are alright. Rice is terrible. When a sampler is $50 you expect it to be better than decent. No plantains with the sampler either. Disregarding price, the food is average.

$27 for a little plate of oxtail rice and salad . Rather go to golden krust on 14th street . Tsk tsk

Order on Uber eats received old food chicken was in small pieces and stale tired of ordering and being sent garbage food they take your hard earn money and don’t care what they serve you it’s sad don’t order from here
