Great local Italian spot, wait staff is simply amazing with character and how they take care of you. Food is amazing, one of those places you can order anything and not be worried if it will be good.
Always an amazing experience. Great wine selection, perfectly cooked classics.
Food was great, service was prompt, but be warned the space is tight.
Absolutely delicious. The veal was so tender and the lamb special wonderful!
The staff and food are excellent. I try to eat here whenever I am in New York.
So fancy. So tasty. I had no business going here but it was well worth it.
Went for company party, great food, best Brussels sprouts and cheesecake ever had!
Very well prepared food and great service i well be back soon
Nice, cozy, great food and service. A gem hidden in the neighborhood
Wonderful old style Italion food and perfect service
Super experience, from the staff to the kitchen and even the fellow patrons.
a bit worn but still the best Veal Parm in the city
Delicious food. Great service.
Great food, perfect service.
Nice service, great fish
Fantastic food- Great advise
Excellent Mediterranean cuisine
Simply amazing
The service, wine and food were fabulous. It started with the antipasto coming to the table when we were seated along with the bread and olive oil which was so delicious - really nice. Mom & I wanted to split our food to two plates so we could enjoy multiple courses and the kitchen split them for us. First course was a stuffed artichoke, second course was lobster ravioli, third course was a veal dish which was tender and had great flavor. We ended with the lemon sorbet and 2 spoons, it was such a nice presentation in a lemon which had been hollowed out, stuffed with sorbet and frozen. I really can not recall a more attentive wait staff. The price was high for me being from Oregon but not high for NYC. It was a great first experience in the city.
An elegant remnant from the past with excellent food and very gracious service. The staff makes you feel like a frequent and familiar guest whether you've last been there last week or three years ago. There are many small touches to make the meal feel special and the Italian inspired food is truly wonderful.
One of my favorite restaurants in NYC. Excellent food, wonderful service and the recent updates/rehab to the interior are lovely. Not inexpensive, but worth it. A great spot for a special date, business dinner or get together with friends.
Grifone has been my go to Italian & favorite restaurant for many years. Food is consistently well prepared and always delicious. Mario's charm and staffs professional service make every evening there memorable. Once there you will always return...looking forward to my next visit!
I have been going to this place for 17 years. It is the sort of place where you do not look at the menu. Just ask what your are going to eat tonight and take things from there. I had an octopus dish last week that ranks at the top. Remember to bring your personality with you because showing it is required.
Fabulous food, fantastic service. Grifone is such a gem. High quality cuisine, impeccable service and wonderful wines. We have been going for years. Be sure to get a slice of the crepe cake for dessert.
Such a wonderful, out of the way gem. Food is always fresh and prepared perfectly. They are very accommodating to my food allergy and happy to do so. I highly recommend.
Quiet, relaxing atmosphere, delicious homemade fresh gnocchi & pappardelle amatriciana. Large portions, fair prices, great service. Tell Mario that Rocco sent you.
I recently connected with a relative that I kind of knew about but it took a while to really connect with and what else do two Italians do when they get together, but go eat. These’s no better place to eat Italian food in NYC than at Grifones. I was introduced to Mario at Grifone over 20 years ago. I ordered a secret special called Veal Lucatorto. A chop breaded, fried and so tender it practically fell off the bone. The dish, named after a regular at the place, Joe Luca has been my favorite since the first time I ate there 23 years ago in 1997. I highly recommend you make Grifone one of your must dine at outings whether you are a native NYer or visiting. Ask for Mario and tell him NickyG, a friend of Lucas sent you.
The Best... Everytime my wife and I are in NYC we come to Grifone's for a great Italian dinner... It was recommended by a friend and now our friends have enjoyed their excellent dishes and wines... Thank you and we'll see you soon at Grifone's...
The service was attentive. Their lobster ravioli was delicious. The dining room was quiet and relaxing.
Old world with very personal service. The best Ceasar Salad I have ever had. Everything was really tasty.
Authentic Italian cuisine served at the highest quality. Fantastic. Thoroughly enjoyed
This is a classic, old school Italian restaurant. The food is amazing.
Exellent classic Italian
Good service
Very good Italian food. Nice ambiance. Comfortable. Friendly. A nice place to have a quality meal.
Good little hole in the wall restaurant. Food was good not great. Desert was way very overpriced and just okay. Service was very good. It is a nice intimate place.
Decent spot for Italian food - we had the tortellini soup, the mushroom pasta, the carbonara and the cheesecake. The pastas were good but nothing special. The cheesecake was interesting, it had a citrusy taste that was nice.
I saw an old man with no pants on pacing back and forth outside the main entrance. He wasn't very well endowed but it was also cold outside which may have been a contributing factor.
Atmosphere is ok, food is also ok, but nothing special.
Good food and ok service. Ambiance is very cozy.
Nourriture a la hauteur, ambiance pas super mais passable et service attentionné. L'entreedu restaurant et a revoir malgrés les travaux.
Sorry but Food was so so, specials were much more expensive than menu items {branzino special not worth it especially @$40 vs the $30(?) menu equivalent and no price was disclosed when the specials were listed}, cesar salad for 2 is $20!! but hardly enough for 2 people! Service was mediocre at best...
Nothing special.
I have been here a couple of times, and my experience has been mixed. This last visit was very regretful. The only reason I am giving two stars instead of one is because we were able to eat as a group of four for a little over 2 hours without being interrupted. That to me is the only plus about this restaurant. I haven't seen it packed at the seams yet, so they will be patient with you while you eat and enjoy the company of your party. That to me is where the positivity ends. First off, I had commented to the owner during a previous visit that I found the men's bathroom to be deplorable. That was over a year ago, and nothing has changed. Rusty fixtures, disgusting smell, just not clean in appearance. Unacceptable for a higher price point restaurant. The food was decent, but in my opinion, lacked flavor. I had the linguine with seafood. I was told that the dish had swordfish in it, but it was clearly salmon. I have eaten a lot of swordfish and know the difference quite well. The calamari and the dish was also very overcooked and dry. My guests seemed to enjoy their meal, so I did not make a scene. One guest in particular commented that her shrimp was quite good. Then came dessert. We had one slice of the crepe cake, two cannolis, and a cappuccino for a total of $52. That is an extreme rip off and I find that to be unacceptable. I have worked in catering for nearly two decades, that is not robbery. That is a scam. I'm sorry, Grifone, you lost a customer in me.
Service was ok.. ambience was fine too but food wasn't upto the par. I ordered rigatoni pasta with shrimp. Shrimp was cooked fine but pasta could have been boiled for few more minutes..
È un ristorante come tutti, ma non è italiano.
Extremely overpriced for the food! Over $70 for 2 spaghetti Bolognese, a glass of wine and a coke! Wouldn't have minded paying so much if the food had been great, but it was average at best! Won't be returning anytime soon!
