A great little hideaway. If you're going at the weekend make sure you book. You won't be disappointed, while it's a small basement restaurant, it's got a great feeling of a local with fabulous food. It was recommended to me and I will make sure I visit every time I am in New York. I give this rating because IS a great place.

Classic place that has not lost its flavor decades later. The burgers are outstanding! The buns are so soft, the fries and onion rings slay and the pickles have a kick to them. Love it!

Best place in the world! I would say that this is my favorite place in the city. The hamburger is HUGE, GOOD and WELL COOKED. The combination of ingredients are fantastic. The place is very cozy and comfortable, you can find a lot of very old stuffs, like '60 and '70 stuffs. The service is OK, sufficiently fast. One concern is that the place is under the ground, so for some people it can be claustrophobic.... Not my case at all, but for some people may be. Anyway I highly recommend this place for everyone,in particular ifyou can eat a lot and are very very hungry!

This was a huge burger guys. Very tasty. Service was good. Small seating space but it wasn't packed and what do you expect in NYC. I was sitting in back near an employee door and apparently that is where the freezer was at. There was a time they were storing some items and the cold air from the freezer hit me. It was all good though. Nice cool breeze. 😎

Rather enjoyed the deluxe Brie-Berry 7oz burger with all the fixings the other night. My wife really liked her deluxe Guac burger too. Attentive staff and neat decor to take in while your food is being prepared.

These burgers are massive! You definitely need two hands here, a third would be incredibly helpful. Lovely ambience, best tasting turkey burger I’ve had in a long time.

I love this place! The reason for 4 stars is that there is not much space inside. It can get a little cramped when it's busy. Everything shares the same space. I'm born and raised in NYC, so I grew up on Jackson Hole Burgers. We always went to the one on the upper Westside, which isn't there anymore. I no longer live in NY. I am here visiting and wanted to walk down memory lane! We finished shopping in the village and wanted to close out the night with something delicious and nostalgic. Jackson Hole here we come! We drove to the one on E 64th St. Initially we drove right by it! It's downstairs in an apt. building, so it's hard to spot. It was 9 pm and dark so we didn't see the sign. We called to be sure and they said "Next to the hospital." That was all we needed! Our server seated us and handed us the menus which were on a computer tablet! They have SO MANY new choices to choose from! I got the Bouldini. Which is onions mushrooms w cheese. I had the audacity to ask for a fried egg on top of their already ginormous burgers! My husband ordered the Mac and Cheese burger. I had a Root Beer float on the side. He ordered a mixed fruit smoothie. Those were delicious too! Anyone that knows me knows I drown everything in ketchup. I took one bite of that delicious, tender, juicy burger and didn't dare put ketchup on it! It would have ruined it! Hands down THE BEST burger I've eaten in my life! Tasted even better then I remember as a kid! Normally you eat a burger that size you feel bloated and need a nap. The meat was so light and fresh and delicious, it felt like I had a salad! Full disclosure we did not eat the buns! We focus on the important part. The BURGER! We ate every last morsel! I don't eat beef often. This was worth me falling off the wagon. Thank you, for a delicious, nostalgic night!

I love this place and honestly every location is unique in its own magical way. Im sure service was only a little off because it was oddly busy for a Wednesday evening. I didn’t mind it too much but I definitely didn’t want to hang around seeing they might of needed the space since the place is small and busy. Over all everything was great, I just needed a tiny bit more attention from the waiter. Definitely bring a family and friends even a casual date would work well.

Come here hungry (REALLY HUNGRY) and prepare to get your hands dirty because it's going to get messy. I had the biggest burger that I ever had customized with American cheese, bacon, & mushrooms & fries on the side. I had to get the fries, pickles, and coleslaw to carry out because the my custom burger got me so full I couldn't finish my meal. With this location close to a number of bus and subway lines and the Ed Koch bridge in close proximity, it's relatively easy to come here.

Excellent burger spot! Curly fries are on point too, and the complimentary pickles are fantastic. Not many other non-expensive places to eat around here with delicious food.

We had a great experience! After one day of tourism we wanted a place to enjoy a very good burger so we found this one and didn’t disappoint us. Sizes are huge (at least for Europeans) so I had enough with one burger and no chips. My boyfriend added chips and he couldn’t finish it. We will come back!

This place is honestly a hidden gem! Atmosphere was great and the waiter was nice. The nachos were amazing, burger was ginormous but delicious, and I loved the vanilla egg cream. Definitely recommend this place!

Delicious food and great portions! Highly recommend. We got a peanut butter milkshake, waffle fries, HUGE burger with steak fries and I got a turkey/goat cheese sandwich with eggs, mushrooms and onions. Everything was freshly made and we took it to go. The other drinks were from another spot called Little Spain Mercado by the Highline. Combined all together made for a great and filling lunch outside.

Really cool vibe for this place. Great variety of food. Pickles brought to the table instead of traditional bread was a nice touch. Food was delicious with very generous portions.

Wow. I was looking for a place to grab a quick bite before seeing a movie nearby and found this slightly hidden gem. The outside looks upscale but rest assured you're in for a very old school New York burger joint vibe once inside. It's small, but that's not a bad thing. Intimate and cozy come to mind. Now, for the food. I had "The Goat" which is a burger with goat cheese, sauteed mushrooms, grilled onions, and pesto. Eating it one sitting may have been a mistake -- it was absolutely huge. But it was just so good that I couldn't stop. Such an amazing find! If you're hungry and in the area, DEFINITELY stop in. You won't regret it.

One of the coolest little bars I've ever been to. It's a super fun and cozy atmosphere with great service. The classic burger was exceptional, waffle fries were also very good. The wings were decent but not as great as the burger. Overall excellent experience.

We found this little cozy restaurant on google maps and went for diner. Amazing burgers and also the chicken burrito is great! Prices are average NYC. $80 for to main courses, one desert, cappuccino and two drinks. I would go again if have had anymore time!

Outstanding burgers and sandwiches! Stumbled upon this place while waiting to get into Serendipity for dessert, and could not have been happier with our decision. It was me, my wife and our pre-teen son, and we had a wonderful time. As you can see, the basic burger is HUGE - my son could barely eat half. I got the mac 'n cheese chicken sandwich with an extra side of broccoli and couldn't finish it. But it's more than just huge portions, the food is really, really good. It's a fun environment too, and if there was one local to where we live (we were doing a mini vaca to NYC) then it would be one of our go-to spots, no doubt.

My burger was delicious and the JH milkshake is definitely one to try if you are a peanut butter fan. The service was great and the staff, friendly and professional. Its nice to know much hasn't changed in the way of flavor and portions. Will happily go back. There's more than burgers on the menu too!

These burgers are sooooo good. One of my favorite burger places in the city. I especially love the Santa Fe burger. All the portions are huge and very generous. Love their steak fries as well. Very recommended!

Small hole in the wall burger joint. I love Jackson Hole. I’ve eaten at their Astoria location prior, but never eaten in this location. I ordered the classic burger with curly fries and it was to die for! The flavors were so rich. It was just oozing with so much flavor. I highly recommend this location. It isn’t for big parties. A party of 4 is the most I’d say but great for date nights! Enjoy!

Awesome experience. This location is clean and practicing the proper safety precautions providing hand sanitizer, and taking temperatures. It is a very small space but it's intimate and there is also outside seating if you prefer it that way. The ginger ale was flat but all the more reason to drink water right haha I will definitely be going back. Awesome hospitality.

Burger was AMAZING!!!! The staff are so sweet. It's such a cool spot. Reminds me of a speak easy with the two different dining rooms and backyard garden. Love this place.

Most burgers I review are meals I'd consider as, "lunch burgers." And they can be really good burgers...but they may not be a full meal. Tonight, I had a burger that was quite easily a, "dinner burger." Start to finish, I was really surprised by Jackson Hole. I expected kitchy, over-priced, run-of-the-mill Manhattan dining. What we got, was a friendly, neighborhood-quality, and very filling meal. Though it's down a few (six) steps from sidewalk level, staff were immediately attentive and helpful in accommodating a wheelchair. We were coming from a long afternoon at MSK, and have to say, the Jackson Hole team was as welcoming as the cancer team at the hospital. At least three team members pitched it to get us seated safely and comfortably. I can't say that we've seen that level of concern at any other restaurant in the city. The welcome set the stage for a delightful experience. We began with nachos, which were impeccably done with soft gooey melted cheese (not like the usual rubbery melted mess) and a really decent and flavorful chili. Diced tomatoes, sliced green olives, jalapenos, and two dips with sour cream provided a perfect finish to the chips and cheese. Then the burgers arrived. Next to me was a Santa Fe Burger, cooked nicely with a rich flavor and topped with enough guac to fill a sombrero. However, the standout of the meal loomed before me...the Jackson Hole Bison Burger. Though slightly dry, the bison patty was both saved and completed by the best pickled mix I've ever had on a burger. Sweet, tangy, and delicious, the onions, banana peppers, and cabbage added a complex mix of acid and sugar to the lean and delicious bison meat. Beyond the food, the service was spot on friendly and attentive...not too pushy, not a hint of snarky NY attitude, and we got to see food being prepared right at the front grill. To top it off, they make the best Arnold Palmer on the east coast. In a city with a thousand choices, it'll be hard to try someplace new when Jackson Hole is so good, and so close to MSK!

For the portion sizes and quality, the prices are totally worth it. If you’re craving a satisfying, old school burger, Jackson Hole is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be back soon!

They have a 'No Smoking' sign in the bathroom from the Guiliani era. That's reason enough to check it out. But seriosuly, came in for early lunch on a Saturday and it hit the spot. I love a medium rare Patty, and it def. swung towards rare. Which is great, because despite "The Classic's"daunting size, it was surprisingly light yet filling. Good options for veggie fans as well. Free pickles to help the stomach digest was a bonus.

These burgers are still the biggest tasty delicious burgers they've been since day one. I enjoy the locations still being around. Especially the original spot which is where I went this round. The seasoned cucumbers are delicious and the oreo cookie milkshake sealed the deal. I could barely get my mouth open to bite into my turkey burger. I topped it with the works of mushrooms, onions, Swiss cheese and turkey bacon. I should've got an egg. But next time! I use to go after school back in the day with my friends. Love this chain! Our waiter was great as well didn't have a reservation. We just popped up and they showed us love. We waited about a half to be seated.

Other than getting good news from my doctor’s visit I look forward to going to Jackson Hole afterwards lol. I usually sit at the counter but with today’s sweltering heat I decided to sit at a table in the dining area. The servers were polite, professional & more than happy to help narrow down the many amazing choices. Which aren’t limited to hamburgers but also include choices of chicken if you feel you’ve had too much red meat lately or fish including tuna melts if you happen to be vegetarian. The digital menu is easy to use & gives descriptions of each burger, wrap or dish you’re interested in. They even have a few interesting deserts (even though I’ve never been able to order one since the meal is so filling) I definitely recommend stopping in if you’re in the area & VERY hungry.

This is one of the best burger restaurants I've ever been to. I'm writing this the next day and I'm still thinking about the burger I got. Firstly, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was charming. My server even let me borrow a phone charger. They start you off with a bowl of sliced pickles. I quickly ordered my Classic Burger with steak fries and it shortly came out. The patty is absolutely massive, but somehow all the toppings stayed on and it was easy to eat. Not sure what type of magic they're using but it was amazing. The steak fries were fine, but nothing special. Definitely would recommend a different side.

I decided to come back and to bring my partner even if in the meanwhile I became vegetarian🤣 The place is exactly the same, food is great, they have a lot os choices besides hamburgers, which is their strength. Salads are great (I had one very big and very tasty). Fries are among the best fries I had. I love this place!

It’s a hole in the wall! I love their themed decorations, food was generous and service was great. I did find it a bit overpriced, probably the most expensive burger I’ve had so far. You gotta order fries separately from the burger and pay an extra cost. They have different options for the fries. We walked-in and got a table in no time, despite the place being small. It’s the perfect place to bring your visitors to impress when coming to NYC.

I’ve been in this area so many times and even worked up here and I can’t believe I’ve never been in this location before. I was really missing something. I especially loved all the iconic Americano or Americore kind of John Wayne fuel to the place. The food is a bit meat heavy but it has great options for vegans and vegetarians. I was very happy with the veggie burger and they have cauliflower buffalo chicken wings as well. The potato salad and the coleslaw were excellent and the steak fries can’t be beat.

I came around 6pm on a Saturday and the place was at capacity. It didnt take long to get a seat, I chose the bar because its cool you get to see them making your burger. Staff is really caring about customer service and they were all prompt and attentive. I remember I was squeezing the ketchup and it ran out but somehow the cook- while taking so many orders was able to hear it and ordered someone else to pass me a new bottle. I was amazed lol also before I sat down the bar was wiped super clean, it was such a comfy place to be in! Anyways I ordered a classic burger, beet salad and the baldouni burger and everything was perfect and fresh. Cant wait to go back and will be trying a milk shake next😎

One of the best hamburgers you’re going to find. Fries sold separately and no refills offered on iced tea so they nickel and dime you elsewhere, but overall worth the experience.

Gluten free options GF buns and sides like rice and beans The fries are in a common fryer so if you're GF because of celiac or allergies skip those. Serving sizes are huge and the food is delicious. Only complaint is the restaurant puts the credit card service fee on the customer increasing the cost of the meal by nearly 4%.

Below is a picture of my coworkers food. He thoroughly enjoyed it. I had a veggie burger it was mushy and fell apart. Barely any flavor. It could be been better. My meal was 19.90 cents with fries and a soda. I would've been better off eating anywhere else. I was very disappointed. If you want an excellent beef burger go to Jackson Hole. Skip the veggie.

definitely felt like we teleported into a real wyoming burger spot. the goat cheese burger was great, the blueberry one had a little bit of an overwhelming blueberry flavour with too much on top.

It's a great spot. Lots of options vegan and meat alike. The adult drinks are great too! Waitstaff is excellent very attentive and kind. I took 1 star off because it's pricy. It was 100+ for 2 without alcohol. But it is extremely delicious. Spoil yourself for a day and come here ...

Overall a great experience. These 7oz burgers are huge. I don't recommend getting an appetizer if you are trying these bad boys. The BBQ Truffle was a delight and I recommend the onion rings as a side. The burger itself though was a little bland but the toppings definitely made for it.

Cool place!!! I love the Western theme. I settled on The Brie Berry Burger - a brie cheese, bacon and blueberry compote burger. Very interesting, but didn't have a sharp counter point to the cloyingness of the blueberries; the bacon and patty disappeared into the compote and the bread got soggy. Still, it was fun and different than anything I've had recently. Fries were pretty standard. I really enjoyed the peanut butter shake. That was really delicious. Service was oddly aloof, inexperienced, the type where they call you "boss". I would definitely return and wish I had several lifetimes to try everything on their extensive menu. Not related- Mind your conversational topics when you go out to eat. A couple next to me were talking about problems in their NYC apartments after they finished their food and I before I begun mine. I have a strong stomach, but it's still uncouth.

Massive portion! Onion rings were great but burger was okay - patty was a bit bland and dry.

I give 5 stars for the staff. The food could be better though! I had the classic burger, it was okay but I could smell the raw beef even though I had it well-done. The staff were very polite and helpful and the decoration was nice.

The tables downstairs are nice, kinda feel like you’re out of Manhattan for a minute. Service was decent—nothing crazy. Took quite some time for the food to come even though they were not busy (maybe they have lots of deliveries?) Got the classic burger it was pretty good, like 10/10. Definitely messy to eat since it’s very big! Got a chocolate lava for dessert, it was ok, would not suggest it.

It was my first time at this place, I ordered the Boss burger and it was delicious!!! I would go back for it. The service was good, but the bathrooms... they were terrible. They smelled strongly of urine. They're unisex bathrooms, so they should have someone cleaning them frequently because the smell and the place were very unpleasant. That's why I'm not giving it 5 stars, because for such a traditional place, they should have a 10/10 for their facilities.

Very characteristic and cozy atmosphere, with friendly staff. The burgers were exceptional, featuring an extremely generous and juicy portion of meat with flavorful toppings. 1st time in the 25+ years that I've been coming here, I am disappointed. No fries with your $15+ burger?! If you are looking at the past reviews/photos, expect to pay for fries now as they don't come with your burger now. I normally would give JH 5 stars (I tell every one of my tourist friends to come here), but Value is a big deal, and I give that a 1 star now.

Excellent burgers and fries. Onion rings are terrific. Always enjoy looking at the decor with western movie posters. It's a little cramped so you need to go in off hours. Some waiters are awful and I know which one to stay away from. Have to ask multiple times for pickles and refills of beverages. But if don't care about that you will get a great platter.

So I didn’t know JH was still around until I saw them on the Eastside in NYC. I sent my son to grab us lunch because I remembered the food being amazing! NOT ANY MORE!! It was horrible, no seasoning on the burger at all, steak fries tasted like wood chips. I paid close to $60 for the lunch ordered! I wanted to take the food back and get a full refund. Don’t go here if you’re looking for the memories of the old JH, you’ll be totally disappointed! So sad.
