I recently had the pleasure of dining at Kubeh, and it exceeded all my expectations! As a lover of kubeh, I was thrilled to find a restaurant that offers such a wide variety of options, from fried to soups, beets or hamusta. Every dish I tried was bursting with flavor. The staff were incredibly friendly and provided fantastic recommendations. Despite the bustling crowd, the atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming. And the cherry on top? The unexpected delight of artichoke liquor! Kubeh is definitely a must-visit for any food enthusiast looking for a unique and delicious dining experience.
A must try. If not for the cocktails alone. We loved everything we ordered. You can taste the tender loving care that is put into every dish. Turkish Coffee Martini 10/10 Shemesh Cocktail 10/10 Lamb Shank 9.8/10 Kubeh 9.5/10 Tahdig 9.4/10
Loved the cozy, welcoming restaurant. Our Meal was 5 star for sure. Hummus and pita unique and delicious. The Kobeh in soup was unbelievable! The shawarma chicken and rice was in a great sauce… memorable! We will Be back to try more great food!
Had a birthday dinner here and it was incredible. The flavor profile of everything we ordered was out of this world. The food was so interesting and new and we've had middle eastern food so many times. We were really impressed by everything. The food options, the decor, the owner who was friendly and welcoming. I'd give it more stars if I could. Definitely check this place out while they are still doing restaurant week/month!
My friend and I walked in on a Friday night and were able to get a table right away. The restaurant had a lot of indoor and outdoor seating, and the vibes were good. We’re both veg and got a lot of dishes to share. To start we got muhammara, torshi and paprika fries. The fried were satisfying and the torshi was refreshing — I’m a big fan of pickled vegetables and the Torshi hit the spot. The Muhammara was standout though! I would say it’s a must try. We liked it so much, we almost ordered a second serving, though we opted instead to try the hummus. The hummus was pretty average. Then we got our entrees. The staff was super helpful about bringing sharing bowls so we could split the soup. We got the Iraqi vegetable kubeh soup in the selek broth. I would highly recommend! My friend and I both really enjoyed it. The kubeh are on the doughier side, which is typical for this style of dumpling, but might not be to everyone’s taste. The broth was delightful with a nice earthiness from the beets and a good assortment of veggies. Safta’s rice was good, but not standout. If you like dill, you’d probably enjoy it and I think it worked as an entree to share, but I think if you were eating it by yourself it’d be too much of the same flavor.
Pretty good experience at Kubeh. First time visiting the restaurant. We had a couple of small plates and Latkes+eggs to share, and everything was tasty and unique in a good way. We left a note on the reservation to request a candle for my friend’s birthday, and the dessert with served with a candle and extra kindness. Many restaurants ignore the notes so I really appreciate that Kubeh remembered it and made a nice surprise moment for my friend’s birthday. I intend to visit here again and hope to have another good experience!
The fantastic, lively restaurant with friendly people and amazing food. The beef kubeh was one of the best I have ever tried. Had Aldo discovered a couple of Middle Eastern dishes, which I didn't try before. My two cents: I would prefer a better selection of Israeli wines and I would suggest to use less salty olives in a mezze.
I had an amazing meal at Kubeh. The Middle Eastern Kurdish food was full of flavor and made with real care. The fried kubeh was rich, and served warm and freshly home made The meze dishes were fresh and delicious, especially the eggplant and lentils. Every bite felt honest and full of tradition. This place is a true gem. I’ll definitely be back.
solid spread - muhammara is a must. great dips and the chicken shawarma was really good. sweet potato and salmon were phenomenal as well. great flavor all round, smaller portions. really nice spot to catch up with friends and easier res to get. not a omg wow but super solid and good neighborhood go to.
I shared the halloumi, salmon crudo, chicken schwarma and the rice chicken soup with a friend. The salmon crudo was soft and sour in the best way although the salmon pieces were so thin that they weren't fully satisfying. Similarly, I felt that halloumi in honey was nice but not substantial enough to even really be an appetizer. Overall, the food here is good and the ambiance is nice but I didn't find the food to be significantly different than other middle eastern restaurants I've been to. Make sure to order at least 2 main dishes per person due to the portion sizes.
Great spot for a ME dishes to sample. Nice portions, good for sharing and tasting many things. The menu features unique dishes from several cultures in the ME region like Iraqi and Kurdish dishes. We shared all the dishes and loved them all. Would go back to try some more. The atmosphere is modest, this is not a fancy restaurant. Good prices for what you are getting as well. Included the bill so you can see what it cost for 3 people and multiple dishes and coffee at the end. They have bar seating as well as indoor and outdoor tables. We opted to sit indoors at a table. Go and Enjoy!
Most of the food I tried was very good. The muhamarra, the fried kibbeh, and the ceviche tasted fresh and had distinct flavors. The kubeh signature dish was a letdown: the dumpling wasn't thoroughly cooked and the broth wasn't very interesting. It's on the expensive side because the portions are small.
I really wanted to like this place more but there were a few hits and misses with the food. Loved the mezze with a doughy pita especially the red pepper one. Kind of regret getting Middle Eastern eggs as they just seemed standard except for the delicious bread on the side. Kubeh was good but not my favorite. Maybe I should’ve tried the non-fried version. Staff was nice and accommodating. It was a bit loud that day as there were big groups of people for brunch. Not the restaurant’s fault but the guests were extra loud and bubbly that overpowered our conversation. Lovely interior with cultural and personal touches representative of the Middle East.
Came for restaurant week and it was so nice seeing the portion sizes didn’t change and a good variety on the menu. I started with the saffron shrimp, had the lamb shank for my main and ended it with the warm brownie for dessert. I also tried their torshitini cocktail which was on the savory side but very delicious. Saffron shrimp was great and I loved the bread to help finish up the sauce. My lamb shank fell off the bone which is always a positive. While I did like it I didn’t feel it stood out for me. The brownie at the end was great and helped close the meal nicely. Overall it was a great experience, the service was excellent and it was a fun and lively dinner spot
Let us start with what is fantastic: Love the fluffy pita, shakshuka and the “spicy” labneh was great, I enjoyed the many textures of tomato. Added a half cup of lamb for a whopping $13. (On top of the already $17 plate.) The challah french toast was pleasant — I liked that the kitchen chose a sesame challah and other seeded versions that gave an interesting flavor profile. Other than that, it was standard. What I was disappointed by was the smoked salmon latkes, the chai latte and hot chocolate. I wanted to love it — but the poached egg should have been shocked with cold water because it cooked the lox underneath it — which made it taste oddly fishy. The latke broke as soon as I picked it up. I did like the egg, but I ended up just eating it alone. The hot chocolate and chai latte were profoundly watery. These items are not central to the restaurant’s theme, but if Kubeh chooses to include it, they should pay attention to it as well. The price point was fine, given that it hardly satisfied my expectations for standard West Asian fare, I just did not think it was reasonable.
For the intersection of such delicious food cultures, the “Middle Eastern” food was mediocre at best. The soups and food lacked any depth of flavor or substance, and it was shocking to see it even on the Michelin Guide. The restaurant was also excessively loud with preposterous noise levels. On top of this, it would have been nice to know that the restaurant was ‘Israeli-Iranian,’ whatever on Earth that means, before we ordered food, considering there was no transparency as such online.
This is a Michelin star Resturant? Literally the worst middle eastern dishes I’ve ever tasted in my entire life. If you go to Steinway and go to the worst rated Arab Resturant, that would be 10 folds better than their best tasting dish. You can tell they are trying too hard to copy middle eastern food but it just isn’t working out.
