Had the best time dipping into this bar for a few drinks. The employees and owners were so so kind and fun, they took care of us after a few drinks with food and we made friends with locals in the area at the bar. The atmosphere is homey, lively and casual. Worth dropping by!
Stopped by here for dinner after a Broadway show and it was not a let down! The escargot was delicious. I ordered Salmon and they were so kind to substitute the cooked veggies with ratatouille instead. Although they forgot to bring out the wine I ordered, all was forgiven because I was too busy enjoying my food! Can't wait to come back here again 👍🏻
Came in last minute for brunch and will definitely be back!! Alan was incredibly sweet and accomodated us with the onion soup and escargot that wasn’t on the brunch menu. Both fantastic. I shared a croque monsieur and to my surprise they split it to separate plates with salad and frites. Very thoughtful and I appreciated they did that without even asking. Will come back again for brunch or dinner next time!
This is by far my husband and my favorite restaurant we’ve ever been to. Not only do they serve some of the best dishes (appetizers, entrees, desserts and drinks) I’ve ever had in my life, but every single employee at this establishment is welcoming, kind, and treats us like family. Ambience is perfect- cozy and lively. Not sure what the few ridiculous negative reviews are (probably written by professional karens), but we have never had a single experience here that has been less than spectacular. I couldn’t recommend this restaurant more highly!
The bartender with cool glasses on “Omar” is the name of the amazing server/bartender that treated my dog and I with so much respect that I will def be coming back. He has the charisma that is missing in so many places! I had the best time drinking my wine with my dog! 🍷 thank you!!
Great French bistro with a cozy, lively vibe. Excellent steak frites, solid wine list, and friendly service. Feels authentic and always a good time.
Excellent espresso martini & the Love Me Passionately is terrific too! Superb vibes and great drinks, what more could you want?
I discovered Le Baratin recently, and it is a must try in Greenwich! They offer delicious French food, very tasty, good portions and top quality. The atmosphere is great, and people working there are friendly! I really recommend this place, which is located in a great neighbourhood!
So glad we had an opportunity to dine here! This place is a bit smaller than I expected but it was actually so much more fun than some of the larger party dinners. Really good service and drinks (Espresso Martini and Baratin Martini). The French Onion soup was one of the best I’ve ever had. I can’t wait to return.
I had the pleasure of dining at Le Baratin and I must say, it was an absolutely delightful experience. From the moment I stepped in, the warm and inviting ambiance set the stage for a memorable evening. The menu was a treasure trove of French culinary delights, and I couldn't resist starting with their escargot persillade. These tender, garlic-infused snails were a true delight for my taste buds. As for the mains, the sautéed foie gras melted in my mouth, leaving a rich and decadent flavor that I won't soon forget. The baked brie, oozy and perfectly paired with a light puff pastry that encased it, was a heavenly combination of creamy and crunchy. However, the real star of the show was the boeuf bourguignon. The melt-in-your-mouth beef, braised to perfection in a rich red wine sauce, was a true masterpiece of French cuisine. To end the evening on a sweet note, I enjoyed a splendidly crafted crème brûlée, with its perfect caramelized sugar topping and silky smooth custard underneath. The service at Le Baratin was impeccable, with knowledgeable and friendly staff who were more than happy to guide me through the menu and offer suggestions. I left the restaurant feeling content, my taste buds dancing with joy, and a firm belief that Le Baratin is a true gem in the crowded NYC restaurant scene.
Had a great meal at Le Baratin. The food really stood out—especially the steak frites, which was cooked perfectly, and the French toast, which was rich and flavorful. Both dishes were top-notch. The atmosphere, however, felt a little off—maybe it was the lighting or the music, but it didn’t quite match the quality of the food. Still, definitely worth visiting for the food alone. Coming in again for sure.
I had a really amazing experience at Le Baratin! This was such a fun and lively place to enjoy a meal and have a drink at. Not only is it a fun place with good music and dancing, but the food and drinks are great. The place is a bit small and you will be close to people, but that is to be expected if you go anywhere with music and dancing. My favorite part was when they flicker the lights to the beat of the music and everyone starts dancing. I definitely recommend this place for an upbeat and fun type of night!
Everyone is super nice, the place is casual enough for you to relax and feel like you're in paris the steak frites is expensive at 48 but it's definitely worth it. The staff being nice and friendly is a big plus reminds me of a few places I went to in paris even the interior being so small was just like paris.
This French restaurant is amazing. I have to say the best Foie Gras. It is very crispy! Also I tried the Duck Breast very tasty and juicy. All of my order was fantastic and delicious. Love the atmosphere here. If I visit NYC again, here is the first restaurant I want to have a dinner 😘
Fabulous classic French cuisine! The food was wonderfully delicious. The ambiance was just right. The service was friendly and nice. I highly recommend this place. Easy to get to from either the red or blue line.
My favorite French spot in west village. Unpretentious but high quality food, service, and vibes. Katia was super friendly and helpful in selecting wine/food. The mussels were a generous portion and delicious. Also loved the salmon- huge and perfectly cooked. Can’t wait to get back soon.
This place is the heart and soul of French expats in New York City. Authentic French vibe and atmosphere. BTW Le Baratin means "braggert" or a**hole in French, or that was what I was told at least. This place is really jumping at night and especially for World Cup soccer matches especially when France is playing. I came early this time and it was much quieter. The waitress was kind and funny, the owner was a cool dude. The food, simply outstanding as always. We had escargot, steak frites and creme brulee to eat - typical French food. Washed it down with Bourdeaux. If you're a Francophile, or just looking for an agreeable meal, this is the place for you. C'est tres bien. Magnifique
Amazing place, good stuff, don’t be silly and miss this local place with best French food in nyc. Beautiful place, amazing atmosphere and really affordable!!! ❤️❤️❤️ Steak tartar and steak and fries 🥰🥰🥰 Johanna she is the BEST HOST THERE ! Everybody love her !!! thank youuuuu see you again
Me and my friend raved that this is the place to go to for traditional French food and it did not disappoint. We splurged on the three course prix fixe. If there's one thing to describe the experience I'd say it's TEXTBOOK. Everything was just perfect and you can see what we got in the pictures. Particular standouts include the filet mignon and the onion soup. my friend felt that the souffle was the best he has ever had. I was a bit too full and also, not a big sweets person. The artichoke heart carpaccio was as amazing as it was sold, I really enjoyed the meal, service, and music.
One of the best bartender's I've had in a long time. Anthony's drinks are here excellent! Escargot amazing. Great staff and vibe Update Jan 2026. Alan's food recs were on spot! Four gras, mussels, again escargot, skate fish, lamb chops , ratatouille, creme brulee, and le tarte tatin
Eat here! This place is a triple threat - food, vibes, and staff are top notch! The escargot is delicious as is the steak tartare. The wine choices and cocktails are divine. The late seating has music and dancing - this place is a blast! The staff is incredibly welcoming and attentive. Can’t wait to come back!
the recent negative posts seem to be from a certain group who saw a need to complain. I have been here about 20 times. It is amazing. casual, but the staff and food are as close to Paris you can get in NYC.
Didn’t have the food but the martini was cold and strong! Love the bartender and the owner. Made a quick stop feel very special!
I walked in randomly and found something truly worthwhile. This place maintains consistent quality. The staff's timing was perfect. Every dish satisfied my taste buds. This place functions well and I'm glad I came in.
like so much fun to celebrate any occasion! our server was so understanding and everyone was so much fun! food was good drinks were better
The food is amazing and the vibes after 9pm with the music and dancing are perfect. I would 100% recommend you come with friends.
Fabulous food service and atmosphere! The staff catered to our group and fit us in. So warm and the food was great
Everything we ate was incredible, especially the duck breast. Truly great experience. Mike and his team do a great job and I will be back.
This is one of the best establishment I’ve every been to. everyone is so friendly and the service is top notch. This is a must come to place if you ever in the city with friends and family!!! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
I walked in and I said, wow. I know good places, and this is a good place. Small French bar, very classy, very smart. It’s the best. I only eat at the best restaurants. I got great service. Joh works there, fantastic lady. Beautiful lady. The most beautiful. I was treated like a VIP, which frankly I am. 5 stars for this restaurant. And never give 5 stars. But they really deserve it.
Fantastic food & service! The atmosphere is perfect, as you'll find yourself wondering how you ended up dining in the middle of Paris by way of the NYC subway. Top of my recommends list for anyone asking about spots they need to try. 10/10.
One of the best French restaurants I’ve ever been to. Omar, Allan, and Armand are incredibly kind, and Mike, the owner, is warm and welcoming. The whole team is amazing, the food is outstanding, and the service is impeccable. I had such a great time and will definitely be coming back soon. Pure gold.
It’s a very cute place. We had a wonderful meal. The energy was intimate and the service was timely and efficient. I would come dine here again.
One of the best French restaurants in the city, not even up for debate! Food is excellent and the vibe is rad! Don't think twice and book a reservation today! Hopefully you get one…
Awesome place, the waiters take great care of you throughout the evening and the atmoshphere is like nothing else in the city. Strongly recommend, special shoutout to Mika. Vous avez été formidable. À bientôt.
Delicious food, fantastic service. Had brunch on a Sunday afternoon to get away from the crowds and the cold. Wonderful experience.
Incredible food, incredible drinks, served by incredible people with incredible tolerance for amateur French on the part of their guests. Order the foie gras crème brûlée, or die a coward and a fool, who has seen the Meaning of Life and yet declined to partake. Drink whatever they tell you. Spend a perfect evening. Repeat.
Such a great meal and wonderful service!!! The atmosphere is so fun and cozy as well. Get the coq au vin!
This is one of the best French restaurant I’ve ever been too. Very intimate! I even got to hold an Oscar from a famous celebrity!!! Love this place!!
Katia was an amazing hostess. We were greeted and then served as if we were family, when we were just first timers. This is as authentic as a French bistro gets. Everyone speaks French. The food as good as walking the streets of Paris. The foie gras special, mussels in saffron, steak tartare entree and French onion soup burger all amazing. We will definitely be back!!!! Merci Beaucoup!!!
Great steak tartar and good appetizers. A bit noisy but awesome place for good food and large parties. I wouldn't recommend it for a romantic dinner. Needs some improvement on the wine list. Duck and the steaks were also very tasty. Loved the mussels.
The food was really good! I felt the vibe was authentic French but not a big elegant restaurant. More like a genuine French hole in the wall where expat’s probably go for a real French meal. I thought the food was great. It’s a bit small and can get noisy but I suppose that is part of the charm
Super rude woman came and grabbed a wine glass that had over 1oz left. When I politely asked for it back she gave me a look that was very judgemental. When I finished she then condescendingly said are you finished now. Such an unnecessary jerky move. Real turn off for an otherwise nice dinner with great food.
This was an incredibly horrible experience, I was at the restaurant simply getting a drink with my friends when an employee seemed to assault another customer. As someone watching from afar the customer seemed to do nothing wrong but try to use the restroom. The employee wrongfully put his hands on her and her friends and shoved them out. It was incredibly uncalled for and as young women, it was scary and sad to watch. Bad rep for the restaurant, disgusting and management needs to realize what’s happening. Will not be back and will make sure my friends and family don’t visit this establishment. Read the other comments, and you’ll find that this place turns down customers based on appearance. Something weird and uncomfortable is happening here.
There is absolutely no customer service at this restaurant. The behavior of the employees was unprofessional and intimidating. Instead of resolving issues calmly, they escalated the situation. I strongly do not recommend this place. If you care about being treated with respect and feeling safe, stay away. I will never return.
I have celiac and dined at this restaurant this past weekend. My food was not safe and I ended up sick. After vetting on gluten free eating websites, I thought I would be safe. The waitress seemed knowledgable and was able to specifically name everything on the menu that could be made gluten free. I did specifically ask how safe the kitchen would be due to the severity of my situation. After putting in my order, she came back to inform me that fries I ordered would be cross contaminated due to a shared cooking space. She proceeded to walk away without providing an alternative. We were able to stop her and get that half of my meal swapped. I ate my meal and proceeded to have a reaction that kept me out of work the following day and needing to leave my shift early the next day. I will never dine here again and do not recommend anyone with an allergy dine here due to the staffs clear lack of care for their patrons with food sensitivities.
After informing the waitress of a gluten allergy at our table, and asking which dishes would be safe from cross contamination, my friend was glutened and left sick after eating dinner here. Though the rest of our food was good, the wait staff clearly did not properly inform the kitchen of this allergy, or the kitchen did not know how to properly accommodate someone with Celiac. For anyone who is gluten free or has another severe food allergy, I would avoid this place all together
This place is absolutely unacceptable. The employees were aggressive, hostile, and extremely disrespectful. There was yelling, intimidation, and a complete lack of professionalism. Instead of providing service, the staff created a very uncomfortable and unsafe environment. The customer service is terrible. We were treated badly and spoken to in a rude and aggressive manner. No one should be treated this way in a restaurant. This was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. I do NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Extremely bad and dangerous experience. This is one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to. The staff is openly aggressive, hostile, and completely unprofessional. Customers are yelled at, disrespected, and there have been serious situations where people were physically confronted. The environment feels threatening and unsafe. It is very hard to believe the large number of positive reviews. It honestly seems that many of them are written by employees, owners, or people closely connected to the business, because what you experience in this place does not match those reviews at all. This is not a welcoming place, and no one should feel afraid just for trying to eat. Be extremely careful if you decide to come here. I strongly advise people to stay away. I do not recommend this place under any circumstances.
I had a very upsetting experience at this bar that left me shocked and uncomfortable. My friends and I tried to use the restroom, but the male bathroom attendant stopped us and denied access, claiming we couldn’t go in without a table or drinks. The music was so loud it was hard to even understand what he was saying, and the policy itself seemed arbitrary and unposted. The worker became frustrated as we kept asking clarifying questions since we could barely understand or hear what was being said. Our group then decided to leave since we were denied access (and also could not get a drink at the bar since it was so busy). As we were walking away, I jokingly picked up a glass of water to show my friend I had a drink—just being silly—and out of nowhere, the bathroom attendant put his hands on me and shoved me this was completely unprovoked, inappropriate, and aggressive. Additionally as a woman, a man shoving me for an apparent unwarranted reason was completely inappropriate. There is absolutely no excuse for a staff member to physically touch or assault a guest under any circumstances, especially over something so minor and not maliciously intended. This level of aggression made me feel unsafe, and it completely ruined the night as the male worker also put his hands on my friend while we were trying to leave. As my group was leaving the bar, the other guests looked appalled and uncomfortable and tried clearing a path for us to exit as also they noticed my friend was being shoved by this worker. Management needs to seriously reconsider who they are hiring and how their staff is trained to handle guests. I would strongly discourage anyone—especially women—from coming here until this kind of behavior is addressed.
