We had the Margarita pizza, calamari, penne alla vodka (off-menu item), mushroom cavatelli. Everything was fantastic and Loris was an amazing host. Will definitely be back.
Great spot, friendly staff, good food.
Food was terrific, best branzino I’ve ever tasted! Great music and vibes, the service was amazing too!
Wonderful place! The chef is from Bologna making real Italian cuisine and the pizzaolo is a rockstar! Great drinks and service too. Or see the Mortadella pizza with pistachio crème
Best new Italian joint I’ve tried in years. Very friendly staff but also low key. *chefs kiss*
Such good vibes all around! Went for a girls night and we had a blast. The music, food and drinks were all on point. The food was to die for - you can tell it’s authentic! Can’t wait to go back
This place is spacious, beautifully decorated with really good vibes. I ordered bruschetta, broccoli rabe and cavatelli alla Lollo. Outstanding! I will definitely return!
Amazing pizza and food in general. They also serve great cocktails! Highly recommend. I can’t wait to come back!!!
Great date spot. Just solid authentic Italian. I feel like this place is going to be iconic once more people start to learn about it.
I’ve been there a few times and have always had the most pleasant experience. The food is amazing, and the service is phenomenal, will definitely be coming back soon!
Niko makes the atmosphere, food and wine beyond pleasurable. A true anomaly to what New York is today.
Best hidden secret in the village. Do not miss this place. Nico will not let you down
Maretta is easily one of my favorite restaurants in the city. the service, the food, the ambiance. i want to go every night. & don’t forget to order the martini or the cosmo.. or both
Don't sleep on Lollo! It's an amazing new addition to the East Village restaurant scene. Lollo serves delicious authentic Italian cuisine with warm and attentive service. My favorites were the brick oven pizzas and fried polenta (absolutely incredible) . Though I have to say everything else on the menu, including the pastas and drinks were super tasty too. I can't recommend Lollo highly enough and am excited to go back!
Lollo is a gem worth discovering! The pizzas here are nothing short of exceptional, boasting authentic flavors and perfect crusts. With friendly service and a cozy atmosphere, it's a must-visit for Italian cuisine enthusiasts!!
I’ve gone here a few times with one of my friends and we always have a great experience! The pizza is so good, including the gluten free option, and their tiramisu is perfect!
The owners are fantastic hosts and the atmosphere was great. Newly renovated place with a super cozy vibe. We just stopped in for a drink and they offered us water and a pizza on the house. They even asked what music we'd like to listen to!
A very tasty meal Attentive staff Reasonably priced
I honestly can’t say one bad thing about this restaurant ! It’s like transporting to Italy, eating authentic amazing food with the right amount of creativity! All the staff were so nice and extremely attentive and had excellent knowledge of the food! I was celebrating my birthday and the staff went above and beyond to celebrate me! I highly recommend this place to anyone ! 10/10
Excellent experience at Lollo! The staff was so kind and helpful, we had delicious pizza, the drinks were well made and wine was great! Would definitely come back and bring people to eat here again!!
We had the most amazing experience here last night. The food was incredible - best I’ve had outside of Italy. Amazing staff from the host to the chef. Comfortable seating. A 10/10 experience.
Friendly staff, amazing food, and a cozy atmosphere. We got wine, lasagna, and tagliatelle. Probably the best lasagna of my life. Pretty reasonable prices for the location. Will definitely come again!
Great new spot in the neighborhood! Pizza is delicious and the wine and antipasti menus are great. Prices are reasonable, especially for the quality of the food. Atmosphere is great, and even the staff are cute!
Lollo is a slice of Italy in the heart of the East Village. The friendly staff treats you like family, and the warm ambiance fosters an unforgettable dining experience. Their pizzas are legendary, boasting crispy crusts adorned with fresh, flavorful toppings. Don't miss their polenta fries, crispy on the outside, yielding and creamy within.
Had two pizzas, one with eggplant and another with prosciutto and both were delicious Loris recommended a Schiava that paired perfectly with our meal. I must come back and highly recommend all to give this new restaurant a try!
The food was delicious and the service was great. We went for a friend’s birthday party on a Saturday and there was a great DJ who really hyped us up at the end which was super fun! Great for group dinners.
I don’t like eggplant and was kinda pissed that there was eggplant on the pizza my friends ordered. I now like eggplant. Everything was delicious! And the desserts. Get the tiramisu and add to that the limoncello. Everyone is so fun and friendly! Love this place!!!
Great food, especially the pizza. And great cocktails including seasonal ones like a watermelon spritz. Plus a really friendly and fun atmosphere.
Delicious bruschetta, pizza, pasta. Everything tastes like it’s straight out of Italy, just like the staff. Friendly staff, gave us limoncello for dessert on the house. New favorite in the neighborhood. Reasonably priced.
So nice to have an upscale restaurant open late in the neighborhood, especially on a Tuesday night. We looked in and sat for dinner at 9:30 and enjoyed everything.
Food and ambiance is outstanding. Service and staff are very friendly. Great addition to the neighborhood xx
One of my favorite Italian places in NYC! The food is to die for! Service was great! Wine is amazing. Everything is imported from Italy. Highly recommend this place if your in the neighborhood.
We had such a fantastic evening yesterday! The restaurant was packed and the energy was super fun and lively. We got the lardo, octopus, clams pasta dish and the oxtail ragù. Everything was fantastic and the natural wine that was recommended to us hit the spot! We'll be back!
Ate here last night and everything was outstanding. We had the Insalata Verde, the Ribeye which was perfectly cooked, and the Oxtail to share. The martinis were cold and kept coming. My new favorite in the neighborhood. Big thanks to our host Nico for the great evening! 10/10
A most excellent experience. Just what the East Village needs. European flare. Music and atmosphere was excellent. Definitely try the mussels and their pizza was fantastic. Great place for a date night. We will be back. Thanks for bringing such a great dining option to our neighborhood.
I absolutely love this restaurant. Last night I had the ribeye steak, followed by tiramisu. The staff is amazing and super friendly, the atmosphere is beautiful in its concrete simplicity - it has a very European vibe. Can highly recommend!
We live in the neighborhood and just had dinner here for the first time. Could not have asked for a better dining experience. The food was beyond delicious!!!! I had the mussels with French fries and my husband had a pizza. Everything was fantastic. I highly recommend this place!
I never write reviews, but reading them led me to Marietta, and I want to share. This restaurant is so special. I’ve been twice while visiting friends in the neighborhood, and now want it to be a tradition. The food is excellent, come for the fresh pastas, balanced menu, great drink list, amazing bread, and warm, inviting atmosphere. All staff are genuinely kind and warm, and you can tell they truly care about the restaurant, from the presentation to the service. There’s something homely and heartfelt about this restaurant. The food is made with love, and it shows. Also it was such a treat to have met the chef both times :) Hasta luego! xo
Wow! What an amazing addition to the neighborhood. Excellent food, great music. Very pleased. We went light and had mussels (yum), fennel salad, pizza - all amazing. Also good dirty martini.
Food was absolutely delicious - had the fennel salad, pappardella with oxtail ragu and steak au poivre - portions were perfect for sharing. Service was fantastic, so was the wine. Atmosphere is a little stark and cold but not in a modern way - wish it had more of a cozy neighborhood vibe to it.
I came here with someone who grew up in Italy, lived there over 20 years and they said this is the best Italian food in the US that they have ever had. They said it tastes like home. And wow - truly this place is incredible! I had the spicy inferno pizza and the fried calamari; both were PERFECT. Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted very authentic. Will be definitely a regular here!!
Had a great dinner here last night. Wanted pizza, but not just a slice, in a nice environment. Sat outside, weather was perfect. Had the polenta appetizer, yummy, then we each had a small pizza so we could share, really good. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. Highly recommend.
Had dinner at Maretta, last night a lovely, delicious, new Italian restaurant and it was fabulous. My wife and I sat at the bar and enjoyed great cocktails and conversation with both other diners and the bartender and owner. Everyone was loving their food and this great addition to the neighborhood. We shared the fennel salad, pappardelle with a beef/pork ragu and a pizzetta. All of the food was fresh, perfectly prepared with good sized portions and very fair prices. I was impressed because the owner noticed we were not finishing the pizzetta and I told him it was little spicy for me and without even letting me know had the kitchen prepare another pizza with prosciuto and arugula that also delicious and at no charge. Also a great Italian wine list. We eat out a lot and often Italian and really loved Maretta and Strongly recommend it.
Fantastic Chicken. We just had an early dinner and ordered its Pollo dish. So juicy, seasoned, perfectly cooked. Friendly and prompt service too.
Such great vibe, atmosphere and staff. We had a delicious meal and tastey cocktails. such a great spot for cute date night or dinner with friends!
Lollo is consistently a great spot to grab a bite. The pizza is always 10/10 whether you're getting the happy hour pie or something from the speciality pie menu. I cannot recommend it enough! It is very true to Italian cooking with the simplicity of dishes and letting the ingredients be the star of the show.
Perfect spot for a fun Friday evening dinner with friends - pizzas were amazing, service was so kind and friendly (they gave us free desserts on the house!) and they played great music. Can’t recommend enough! Hard to come by affordable and accessible sit down restaurants in lower Manhattan but this place was perfect.
Owner is lovely, intimate and vibey spot - perfect for date night or a girls night - and the food was awesome
I’ve come here a few times since opening and it’s fantastic! As someone who is GF, I think the pizza is wonderful, high quality, and fair priced. Ezy provided wonderful service and experience each time I’ve dined here, making it memorable and fun. Atmosphere inside is great, street seating is clean and spacious. They also will host events on the weekend with a pre-fixe menu and brunch coming soon! This is EASILY my go-to place moving forward. Couldn’t recommend enough!!
Absolutely perfect NYC Tuesday evening thanks to this wonderful restaurant 🙌🏼🙏.
If you get a chance to go to this wonderful gem do not hesitate. The quality of the ingredients used and preparation along with the atmosphere is exceptional. Enjoy!
Most amazing Italian! I’ve been over 10 times and keep going back because of how amazing the food and service is. So appreciative of such an intentional menu and the most welcoming staff. Definitely recommend :)
Had a fantastic dinner here! The next night we tried gnochirria a block over because my husband likes gnocchi. RAGRETZ. We ate, left, and headed over back to Maretta and it was lovely! Had pappardelle again to redeem myself but I probably should've tried a different dish but it was so delish. And the bread service!!
It doesn’t get better. Venetian authenticity. Super brilliant and cool owner. Vibey, inclusive, energetic. The chicken was absurdly good. Like, in a different tier from most of the excellent chicken you get at restaurants in NYC, LA or London.
we had a gorgeous meal here last night. the food, drinks and service were wonderful! highly recommend
Maretta is a culinary experience. One that finds a balance of flavor and vibe while preserving an elevated yet approachable atmosphere. I'm writing this review after having dined at the restaurant over six times. I've lost count, honestly. The menu items are consistently great --- my favorites are the grilled prawns, lardo, pappardelle, and fire roasted branzino. And those are just my favs. I've had many of their offerings and they're all solid! I highly recommend their orange wines, as well. From my experience, the staff is quite friendly and personable. They'll give you really good recommendations depending on what your tastebuds are craving at the time. I'd like to think of Maretta as a lowkey gem in NYC. But see it easily becoming one of those top-rated restaurants in the city!
booked a big table for a birthday and they really went above and beyond for us. great food, amazing service, and perfect atmosphere
A true downtown gem. The restaurant is cozy, well decorated with a unique casual vibe and lovely staff. Food is a great combination of flavors and seasonal ingredients, must try the fritto misto, pasta with oxtail, oven roasted branzino. Great pizzas to share and keep some space for the affogato! Make sure you start the evening with their signature mezcal cocktail! Bravo!
The chef here is doing amazing things. This is standout Italian cuisine. We're been here a couple of times and I look forward to my next visit. The grilled prawns in Calabrian butter is a must. The potato pave is a must. Pro tip: Mash the potato in the Calabrian butter. You're welcome. The salads change seasonally it seems. I had the Radicchio lettuce salad on a recent visit the was perfectly seasoned and super fresh. It's a large portion that can be shared with 3 - 4 people. I highly recommend the linguine and clams. Some of the best anywhere. The sauce is perfectly emulsified. The Mafaldine is elegant. The service is spectacular. Andy is a great host. The team here works hard to create a great experience.
Wow what a gem!!! The best vibes and service, EXCELLENT pasta (vegetarian options!), delicious apps and also amazing cocktails. I can’t wait to be back!!! Would be a really fun place for a private event buyout too.
Instant favorite! Stumbled across this restaurant after a comedy show at the bar across the street and I am so glad I did. The food was absolutely delicious! My friend and I shared the diavola pizza and the lasagna. The pizza had the perfect crust that can only be achieved by a great pizza oven and the lasagna had the perfect creamy texture without feeling heavy. All of this is complimented by the atmosphere: the second you walk in you can feel the elevated yet welcoming atmosphere - a great romantic and relaxing vibe with soft lights. The service was my favorite part though, I believe we were helped by Jaime and Javyer. Friendly and super helpful, gave us suggestions and made us feel right at home. I’d skip the crème brûlée and next time I’ll be trying some wines from their great selection.
A very pleasant and delicious place. Small, friendly service. We're glad we came and will be back again. Lezzet cok guzeldi gec fotograf cekebildim
Maretta is a such a gem! Gorgeous bar, sleek minimalist, chic yet inviting. The staff is warm and attentive. Such a cool vibe. Drinks are superb. Wine list is very well done. The warm bread fresh from the oven with real olive oil was my first clue this was going to be a superb meal. Do not miss the mussels dish they were the best I've had in a long time! The steak is fantastic and honestly a bargain, with delicious fries and sauce. The pasta has never disappointed, pappardelle was a banger. Such a great addition to the neighborhood! Thank you Nico, Andy and Luigi!
I wanted to gatekeep Maretta but I won't! Went for dinner on a Saturday night and Nico (the owner) found us a table right away. We started off with classic dirty martinis, which were so delicious we ordered more. For apps, we got the melon prosciutto, the prawns, and the lardo milk bread. All were delicious but the standout was the lardo. Order it; it's worth the calories. For entrees, we got the bronzino, the oxtail ragu, and the pizza bianca. I'm not usually a fan of pizza but this one was so fresh! The bronzino though was the favorite: buttery, flaky, and melts in your mouth and the skin was charred to perfection. We finished off our meal with the creme brulee, which came with sugar cookies that were so good they could have been a dessert on their own. We ended the meal with some amaro local to our server's hometown in Italy, which warmed us up enough to go back outside in the freezing cold. Great experience overall, very reasonably priced, and friendly people all around!
One of the best restaurants I’ve eaten at in nyc. The lowkey clean film-artsy aesthetic lent to the experience. The food was perfectly salted and seasoned. Steak melted in my mouth and the service was friendly and prompt.
Super cute Italian restaurant with delicious pasta ! I got the mafaldine mushroom pasta and it was perfect; loved the pistachio martini as well. Our waiter was very helpful and service was great.
One of my favorite spots at the moment! Food is amazing, you have to try their specialty pasta Cavatelli alla Lollo! Just wow! Of course the pizza is amazing too! Totally in love with this place. Exceptional service and great atmosphere!
Great Italian food and friendly atmosphere. They host my birthday party and it was wild and everyone had a great time, lot of food and wine. I will definitely come back often . Great job

everything at maretta is 10/10. the food is some of the best i’ve had in nyc. i highly recommend the verde pizza and the lardo.
This is one of the best Italian restaurant I’ve eaten in New York in a long, long time. I am Italian born and raised, and I can tell you the food here is the same as you can find in Italy. The service was amazing. Great atmosphere welcoming and warm. Drinks were good and they had a fantastic wine selection. I was there a week ago and I’m already going back next week. I think everyone should experience the wonderful restaurant Maretta.
I haven't had a dining experience this enjoyable in such a long time! ther service was impeccable, attentive, and kind. The food and wine surpassed all expectations! We walked in super easily which is always nice. I will be back here soon!
Delicious. We really enjoyed The Sour cocktail, fennel salad (loaded with parm), mushroom malfadine (very generous with the mushrooms), and the complementary focaccia. The oxtail ragu and tiramisu were nice too.
Had an amazing time, luis and Niko were absolutely amazing. Great service. Amazing food. The verde pizza to die for. Unbelievable house shots. Would recommend.
What a great dinner! We were a party of eight with an early reservation at 6pm. Greeted by the hostess who also was our server. She was so pleasant and friendly. It set the right mood at the outset. Ordered 2 each of the apps ( shrimp, mussels and broccoli rabe). For the entree, half of us had the Osso Buco and others had various pasta dishes. All very good, and by the end— all plates finished incuduing the apps and two bottles of a great barbera. Split two orders of Tiramisu one of which was free of charge since we were celebrating my son’s wedding earlier that day at City Hall. Thanks to the staff at Maretta for making it a special evening.
Absolutely Loved It! We went to Maretta on Monday for dinner with kids and friends and absolutely loved it! The food was delicious and innovative — every dish had a thoughtful twist that made it stand out. We started with the potato pavé with leeks (to die for!) and the smoked beetroot salad, which was completely unexpected and packed with unique flavor. It’s so rare to find something truly unusual these days, and this was exactly that. For mains, we had the chicken, branzino (fantastic!), and the ragu bolognese — each one was a treat. The portions were perfect, and everything came out beautifully presented. The ambiance was cozy and elegant, with dim lighting, candles on the tables, and crisp white tablecloths — and honestly, everything tastes better when the setting is this charming. They even made a non-alcoholic espresso martini that hit the spot — not an easy feat for a small restaurant, but they really nailed it. The service was delightful — warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. We’re already planning to come back and are recommending this gem to everyone we know!
From the moment we walked into Maretta on Avenue B, we knew we had found something special. The vibe strikes that perfect balance of relaxed neighborhood Italian and chic East Village energy. Minimalist interior warmed with candlelight and a buzzing bar scene that feels both intimate and lively. The seasonal menu delivers thoughtful, authentic Italian dishes with fresh ingredients that truly sing together. We started with the steamed mussels and shared their pizzetta and pappardelle every bite was rich, perfectly seasoned, and deeply satisfying. The wine list and cocktails (especially the crafted martinis and Negronis) were standout accompaniments. Service was warm and attentive, making us feel right at home. This gem earns every one of its 5 stars. We are already planning our next visit!
Incredible find in the heart of the East Village. Maretta is both cozy and lively, a perfect date night spot, and I can't wait to host a celebratory meal here. The vibe is right!!! I've been a few times now and service is top-tier. The food is delicious and elevates classic Italian. Highlights for us have been the perfectly cooked pasta dishes (any of them), the steamed mussels were phenomenal, and the cocktails (especially the Negroni Shakerato) were expertly made to pair with each course.

Fantastic I hope this doesn't blow up because it's one of the greatest places I've been to recently in the city! Keep it up everyone! ...is what I would scream atop every roof about Lollo, my favorite pizza place in the city. edit: came a few times after the management change (as Maretta) and updating the rating to reflect that. a few things changed mostly for the worse. It's not a bad place per se, but it's lost a lot of charm (personal taste, some people might prefer the new, classier look), the pizza level is slightly lower, and the prices are a little higher (now in-line with the average mid-scale italian restaurant in manhattan). I understand that this reflects the economic realities of a restaurant that previously struggled to fill up, but I can't recommend it nearly as much. It's a decent italian restaurant
Weird atmosphere and service. Hard to explain. Feels like a new business. Some food (tagliatelle) was excellent. The rest was not great, or almost great. Mushroom pasta dish had good flavor but noodles overcooked, for example. Not terrible but won’t go back.
Food was very bland, we had the beetroot and prosciutto with cantaloupe and the house bread. Verde pizza and oxtail ragu which was the only thing that was seasoned to some point of normal tasting ragu, the food literally had zero taste. We ordered the house white wine which was very good and light, staff was super friendly and welcoming. Over priced, and honestly I don’t see a reason to return.
Deeply disappointed on our third visit. We had previously had wonderful meals at Maretta, especially the pasta and the chicken. This time, the fish did not taste fresh (fishy flavor, slightly overcooked) and the linguine was awful. The cooking standard seems to have dropped significantly. Bad enough to warrant a review. Unfortunately will not be coming back.
We actually had a really disappointing experience at Maretta. Given the high ratings and reviews, I thought I should probably share our experience so others might not be surprised in the same way. Both the service and food were nowhere near what I expected based on the review and price point. On the former, on multiple occasions, we were served dirty glassware/dishes. (In addition to a share plate with old food crust on it, I was accidentally provided a used glass with some leftover drink in the bottom when I got my beer, and when they gave us a refill carafe of water (which we had to ask for both times, despite the bottle sitting there empty for a while), the server had dirty hands and when they dropped the bottle, the food/substance on their hands smeared across the top of the carafe. If I hadn't been there with some special guests, I would have said something in the moment. It left a pretty poor impression. On the food, our main dishes were very mediocre. In fact, we had to ask for some salt just to make the pasta dish edible. It was really baffling, given that the restaurant is well reviewed. I left wishing I had gone to a more affordable, neighborhood-style option.

Had a 9pm reservation on a Friday night and when we got there we were shocked at how insanely loud the place is. We were asked if we wanted to sit outside or inside which were equally bad choice. Outside people were smoking at the tables and inside it was so loud and no AC but between the smoking and the noise we decided to deal with noise inside. We ordered our food and drinks around 9:20pm. We got a glass of wine, a cocktail, little gem salad, pizza, and a branzino. The drinks came out quickly but around 9:50 pm we still had not received any food (not even salad) and asked our waiter about it. He assured us it will only be a few more minutes. About 15 minutes later we finally got all of our food at once which did not fit on the table. Very poor planning and an insanely long time to wait especially since we could see tables next to us that got seated later getting their food before us. As far as the food, the little gem salad was fine but nothing special. The pizza was incredibly doughy in the middle and we ended up only having a slice each because it tasted like raw dough. The one redeeming dish was the fish. The waiter apologized and noted that our food was accidentally sent to the wrong table which is why it took so long. I get that it happens but you can at least comp our wine or do something to make it right.
They tried making anything made out of wheat healthy by using whole grain flour. This does not work with pizza, it was so bad. The pizza was also ridiculously small. Blinis were bad and there was a draft in the restaurant. This is not a vegetarian/vegan/kosher friendly restaurant, so keep that in mind.
