Okiboru is a popular spot for high-quality tsukemen and ramen, known for its flavorful broth and perfectly chewy, handmade noodles. The service is efficient, and the atmosphere is reminiscent of ramen shops in Japan. Space is limited and can feel cramped.

We were in town for Super Bowl Sunday and basically went on a food tour. It was freezing cold so I wanted ramen. This place was small, you can see them cooking in front of you. It reminded me of Japan. Because we just ate, we just ordered the bao bun which was really good. The bread was light and the meat was tender. We got the fish and chicken dipping noodle and that was delicious. We got tired of dipping so we just poured the broth over the bowl. The lime & pepper made every bite perfect. Can't wait to go back.
Amazing service and delicious food. The woman who runs the place is the sweetest lady on the planet and was such a delight. My arm was in a cast and she made an effort to accommodate my needs and even signed my cast in Japanese! The vegan broth was super good!
Had one of the best meals of my life at Okiboru today! On a blustery day in NYC, we took a chance and got in line with about 7 groups ahead of us…luckily their efficient service got us inside with 15ish minutes. The classic tsukemen is amazingly flavorful, the tonkatsu is somehow rich without being heavy, and the fries ???? Incredible. The made-in-house noodles are perfectly chewy, the broths and toppings all taste incredibly fresh. Our lovely server Mimi was so helpful and friendly and gave us the best suggestions ❤️❤️ highly recommend if you’re a fan of ramen and delicious noodles 🍜
Incredibly delicious classic and dipping ramen. Nothing too oily, fatty, or salty. Every element cooked perfectly and all made in-house. Mimi makes the experience unforgettable with her warm personality and efficient service to keep the line moving but not make you feel rushed. Will be going back again soon!
Very high quality tsukemen in a small counter space. The tsukemen broth has a very strong smoked dashi with lots of concentrated katsuobushi bonito flavor. Noodles were perfectly chewy, and the lime was nice to break up the fattiness. The chasu was a little dry and could have been hotter. Also highly recommend the shrimp katsu pops to start.
This place has such good ramen. The seating is very much like the ramen places actually in Japan. It’s walk in only, you sit down, and then pay before you eat. It’s really unique because they have both dipping ramen and normal ramen options. It was my first time trying dipping ramen, and I really liked how I make my bites the ratio I wanted. It’s usually served cold, but the sauce is warmer so I think it’s still a good choice during the cold weather. The normal ramen was more on the salty side, and I thought the buns appetizer wasn’t as good. You also have to tip before you get your service. On the bright side you can leave whenever you finish.
This place served up some delicious ramen. The broth, a chicken/fish style was quite interesting but tasty. The pork slices, small but flavorful and cooked extremely well. The egg, cooked to perfection. The noodles, the star of the show, thick and gooey but structured, recommend have a bite without the broth to appreciate them. The employees were all nice. Restaurant wise, this is a get in and get out type ramen place, how it should be. Price wise, it’s on the pricier side. I would certainly come here again.
My favorite dipping ramen! Don’t forget to ask for soup-wari if you want to drink your broth. Their Tontori soup ramen is lesser known, but slaps just as hard. It’s a chicken / pork tonkotsu alternative that feels lighter and has a wonderful blend of umami flavors. Menma is also only a respectful additional $0.50, which I would recommend.
Felt like we were back in Kyoto. The staff were super kind and accommodating. We were a bit surprised that the tsukemen broth was chicken/fish based and not pork/fish but it was amazing. Will definitely come back (soon). We came on a Sunday around 12:30 and there was no wait (the place was 90% full), the service is fast so even if there’s a line you don’t need to wait much.
One of the best tsukemen spots in the city. The noodles are thick, chewy, and clearly handmade, while the dipping broth is rich, savory, and perfectly concentrated, comfort in every bite. The squeeze of lime adds a bright, surprising touch that balances the flavor beautifully. The space is small and minimalist, more focused on the food than atmosphere, but service is quick and efficient. It’s best for solo diners or a quiet meal for two. If you love ramen and haven’t tried tsukemen yet, start here, Okiboru sets the bar high!
Like guyssss omgggg!!! This ramen is to die The best ramen I had a pleasure of trying in my life and oh girl I had me a ramen. Okiboru House of Tsukemen had amazing chewy noodles, pork belly that melts in your mouth and oh wow the broth! THE BROTH! Is just full of flavor and has an interesting combination of fish and chicken flavor. The service is excellent! The two people who were serving us did with a smile and with a lot of kindness.
A slice of Japan in LES! Although this place is known for their tsukemen, every menu item is equally good. In fact, my favorites here were the tonkotsu ramen and pork buns. The chashu pork (which is in most of the dishes) is expertly cooked: tender, well marinated, and fatty. I also appreciate that they don't skimp out on the portions, like most other Japanese spots in NYC do. The staff is also super attentive, fast, and kind. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 — Honest Review of Okiboru House of Tsukemen I tried their signature Tsukemen, and here’s my honest take: The noodles are the clear highlight. Slippery, chewy, fresh, and made in-house — easily some of the best-textured noodles I’ve had. If you come here for noodles, you won’t be disappointed. The dipping broth/sauce starts off decent — salty, rich, and definitely fishy (as expected with a fish-based broth). At first it didn’t feel particularly memorable, maybe even a notch below some other ramen broths I’ve tried. But it actually grows on you as you eat. The more you dip the noodles, the more the flavor settles in and becomes enjoyable. Still, the broth and noodle combo is the real star of the dish. I ordered the chicken, and while it was tender, soft, and lightly charred, the flavor itself didn’t really stand out. Good but not memorable, and you only get about one or two slices, similar to the pork. For me, the meat isn’t the main draw here — the dish would honestly shine just as a noodle + broth set. The staff were fairly nice, nothing exceptional but perfectly fine for a ramen shop. The biggest downside is the price. Once you include tip, a single bowl of tsukemen will go above $30, which feels a bit steep considering the portion of meat and add-ons. Some reviewers mention Michelin recognition, and I can see how the noodle craftsmanship might attract that kind of attention. Overall: • Fantastic noodles ✔️ • Broth that grows on you — salty, fishy, and increasingly enjoyable ✔️ • Chicken topping is okay but not memorable ✔️ • Price is high ✔️ Still worth trying at least once, especially if you're curious about tsukemen and want a bowl where the noodle + broth combo really shines.
Tried the tsukemen here today. The broth is flavorful but noticeably salty, so dip lightly if you’re sensitive. Noodles are chewy and good. Chashu was just okay, but the fried croquette skewers were surprisingly nice. Fast service, busy open kitchen. Good for a quick tsukemen fix, just keep the saltiness in mind.
My review: I visited Okiburu NY by chance because Russ & daughters was packed and they had a one hour waiting time. Okiburu is just next to Russ, so I decided to give it a try. A lovely woman who acts as the receptionist gave me a seat instantly (I realized later that I got lucky because after I sat a line began to grow outside). I ordered a Tsukemen, arguably the most popular dish here. I went with atsumori (warm noodles), pork chashu and ajitama (egg). Since I didn't know about their spicy criteria, I asked for spicy sauce on side. The noodles were awesome, thick and warm. The pork was just fine but the broth was absolutely delicious. Special mention for the eggs. I was surprised when I realized this is a Michelin rated restaurant but a good experience overall. Tip included, I paid $38 (ramen + can of coke)
I came by for lunch on the weekend. The inside space is quite small so more often than not there will be a queue outside. The staff directed us to stand by the trashcan right outside their door which was odd so we stood a bit farther away on the sidewalk instead. But the staff member kept telling us to get closer to the trash can instead which was weird. Anyway after 20 minutes of waiting, we got brought inside and were seated by the counter. Ordering was done via QR code and you pay before you get your food, like food court style. It was interesting that they asked for tip before even serving the food. Chopsticks and napkins you grab yourself and at most, they bring you cups of water and your food. I got the tsukemen with warm noodles. It was quite a pricey bowl of noodles for what you get. After tip it was almost $30 and all I got were noodles, dipping broth, 2 pieces of seaweed and a slice of charshu pork. The dish description mentioned yuzu in the dipping broth which I tasted upon the first few dips but the flavor eventually disappears. I enjoyed the strong bonito flavor of the dipping broth. Noodles were okay too though they did start sticking together as they cooled down. It was nice to try it once but not somewhere I'd go out of my way to visit again.
This spot serves tsukemen (dipping noodles) and it looks like they make their own noodles tasty🍜 The chashu didn’t have much flavor and had a bit of a burnt taste, but the broth with fish powder was really good. It’s more of a Japanese-style ramen shop, so don’t expect full table service or a place to chill for long. You order through a QR code and eat quickly. Not ideal if you want to relax, but if you’re here for good ramen, it totally delivers.
arrived at 12pm on a weekend and was seated immediately place filled around 12:15 ordered classic tsukemen plus egg pros: noodle was perfect texture!! service was quick. the egg goes well with the broth. people say the place is cramped but didn’t feel that way, it’s ur typical noodle counter style place cons: the pork chashu was unusually salty. the dipping broth was ok but also way too salty. i had to be careful just to dip just a tiny bit….
Ambiance (3/5): The establishment is tiny with crammed seating that is elbow to elbow (seriously knocked into my neighbor like 3x). It’s really cool to be able to have bar seating that overlooks the chefs in the kitchen while you dine. While I did not necessarily feel rushed out by the staff, I definitely felt like it was an eat rather quickly and get outta there atmosphere. FYI- bathroom is located down a set of spiral stairs. Service (4/5): I came in as a solo patron around 6:30pm and was seated immediately. You scan the QR code that is tied to your seat without having to place an order with your server but also have to decide your tip amount before the service is given to pay/place the order. There were 2 staff members scurrying the floor with speed and the order came out within 7 minutes!! No issue with water refills since a water canteen is provided at the onset. Tsukemen (3/5): Traditionally, the noodles are enjoyed by dipping into the broth. I saw many patrons eating it non-traditionally by dumping the broth into the noodles (D’oh nooo!!). Anyways, the noodles were superbly bouncy and a good portion. The charsiu was terrible—on the dry side, tough, and only 2 measly pieces too. The broth itself was fine (not too salty) but also felt like was missing a bit of umami flavor. For an extra $1, I had a side of spicy paste which helped a bit in the broth’s depth. For a $30 dish (including 20% tip) I was definitely expecting a better dish.
