Excellent customer service. Delicious and affordable food. The cakes are really good and the ice cream too. This is my favorite vegan restaurant so far

As a vegan from the south I am used to somewhat limited options, and am constantly blown away by the selection when I’m in New York. Red bamboo is almost like the Cheesecake Factory for vegans with its humongous and eclectic menu of Asian, Italian, and southern dishes. I never had crab Rangoons before I went vegan but wanted to try them, and this is the only place I’ve ever seen with vegan crab Rangoons. The food was just amazing, I was so full but had to get the peanut butter cake since I’ve never seen anything like this vegan on a menu. I cannot recommend it enough!

M
Mikey Terranova

Absolutely loved it. Went for dinner with my girlfriend and enjoyed everything that we got for an incredibly reasonable pricem I really recommend this place to anyone looking for a solid vegan spot or even just wants a nice comfy meal. Pictures show the curry wings, crab rangoon, mac and cheese, southern fried chicken (with greens and sweet potato fries) , and creole fried chicken (with veggies and mashed potatoes)

If you’re vegetarian and you miss meat, come here! I heard many great things about this place from others and finally took the chance to try it during COVID. We sat outside in their outdoor dining space. The selection is quite good. We ordered Barbecue Buffalo Wings, Creole Soul Chicken, and Sizzling Pepper Steak Platter. The Buffalo Wings were on point. They even had a fake bone to imitate real meat. It was very tasty! Out of these dishes, we loved the Sizzling Pepper Steak Platter! The combination of veggies and meat was absolutely perfect! The staff we engaged with were super nice and I’m glad we decided to give this a try. If you’re a vegetarian and you haven’t been here, you’re missing out!

Service isn’t always that great, mainly because of limited staff but the food is stellar. Creole soul chicken and crab Rangoon were great for appetizers. The wings are my all time favorite. I also love their vegan deserts. Pumpkin cheesecake is seasonal, must try 😊

The hot ones wing challenge was so fun! The wings and milkshakes were very tasty. We loved the roti canai as well.

Near this gorgeous park, this restaurant offers exactly what it promises: comfort food. And why is it a big deal? Because we, the vegans, are sick and tired of uncomfortable food. If you’re not a vegan you won’t get it (but it’d be worth a visit anyway). The space is small yet cozy. Service is attentive and friendly. I asked for “the dish you’re most famous for”. I thought they’d bring me the sizzling meat board which seemed amazing when the table next to me ordered it. They brought me a plate of chicken nuggets with some mashed potato and vegetables. It felt underwhelming at first, I confess. I took the first bite and got it. Yeap. Nuggets. It’s been almost a decade. Wow! And the peppery sauce was great as well. And the gravy. Yeap, gravy. Portions are a reasonable size (I hate tiny portions). I was too full (how else would you feel after a plate of nuggets??!?) to order dessert. But I did see a beautiful Oreo pie the guys next to me ordered. Bottom-line: I had a really great time. I missed comfort food. Thanks for making it easier being a vegan.

The country fried not-chicken is so so good. Tastes like and has the texture of dark meat chicken. The atmosphere of the restaurant is good--not too loud, usually playing fun/funky music.

So many amazing vegan options. Delicious food and nice atmosphere. Loved everything we ordered and I wanted to try more. We try vegan restaurants all over the US and this was one of the best. Highly recommend!

Food was fresh and delicious with a small but tasty gluten free menu. Small space but nice music and good atmospheric lighting. A little slow to take orders but food came pretty quickly once our orders were placed.

We arrivedwhen the place was almost closing but the attendant was very nice to get a table and let us stay. Highlights of the food were shrimp fingers and BBQ ribs, which were actually kind of sausages. Incredibly delicious vegan food!

Nice and clean place. Food is just amazing. Buffalo wings, crab rolls, seafood fried rice with pineapple😍😍😍😍😍. I would stick with appetizers and ice cream only next time. Entrees are ok too. Definitely recommended and going there again

I can't believe I just found this gem. The team provided solutions, not excuses. We were won over by Red Bamboo completely! They deliver good meals at sensible prices. The dishes tasted wonderful, service was attentive, and our visit was satisfying.

The food was amazing! Wasn’t busy much which was surprising but we did come at a relatively early dinner time. My brother got the tonkatsu pork chops and I got the soul creole that were both great. My sister loved her chicken parmesan. Overall I am glad my non-vegan siblings enjoyed this with me!

It's a small place and wait time is usually long... And thats because of their amazing food. Loved everything we ordered . Would definitely go back again to try other items on their menu!! 👍 Buffalo wings, Crab Rangoon, popcorn shrimps, Seoul chicken, Pineapple fried rice, Chicken cashew, black pepper steak, Philly cheese steak 😍🤩👌🏻

Reasonable prices!!! Super great food! So healthy and large portions. Great staff and inside a great atmosphere!!! I would HIGHLY recommend. I loved the portobello mushroom dish. The other picture is the bamboo curry chicken.

This place lives up to all the hype. We ordered appetizers and entrees and ended up with a lot of leftovers. Everything we had was delicious. We also enjoyed vegan wine which was nice. This restaurant has mostly a fake meat-based menu so be prepared to have heavy meals.

One of my favorite vegan spots in manhattan. Not only is the food solid through and through (baby that pulled pork sandwich and that crab Rangoon will make you forget you’re vegan) the service is kind. The hosts, servers, are all chill and normal kind easy to talk to people. They even let you use the bathroom without opening a tab. What concept. Love this place. Hope they stay open forever.

Incredible vegan comfort cuisine. I've been going to Red Bamboo since summer 2020 and I have to say it is the only vegan place that I have come back to more than 10 times. As a vegan that lives in NJ, this says a lot. It's in a prime area and the people and culture near the restaurant add a lot to the ambiance of the restaurant. I can't wait until the indoor seating opens up again so that my fiance and I can finally enjoy our meal to stay! The death by chocolate cake is to die for, and the rest of the food will exceed every single expectation that you have. You must try the creole chick'n! I hope this place never closes after 19 strong years!

This place has quickly become my top choice when thinking about where to get dinner. Their menu is impressively extensive and executed flawlessly. I've had the pleasure of dining here three times in the past month, twice with my meat-loving boyfriend, and I can honestly say that not a single dish has disappointed. Whether it's the delightful skewers, the Seoul pancakes, or any other item I've had, the quality consistently shines. Surprisingly, the beer options are both affordable and surprisingly good, always priced at $7 (you must try the sour!). The staff is exceptionally friendly, adding to the overall enjoyment. It's a superb destination for well-prepared comfort food.

Friends brought me here while I got stuck on a 2 day layover in NYC. We shared several dishes and everything was delicious. So grateful to know of a fully vegan place in the city. And shoutout to Les for being an incredible sever. Thanks again for everything!!

I went here on a Wednesday with my girlfriend and a friend and we ordered several starters (photos of those below!) and an entree all to split- it was more than enough food! We got the fried chick’n, vegetable steamed dumplings (Asian dumplings) popcorn “shrimp”, and chicken satay for the starters and the main we got was the red curry tofu. It was all so good!

S

When I meet up with my former roommate to go to shows or films in the West Village we always eat either here, at Berimbau, or Galangol (until it closed). The food here is always good and often great—I also have a huge soft spot for vegan fake meat. This time we split the wings with curry sauce, he got sweet and sour chicken, and I got spicy chicken and broccoli (pic included below). It was the best thing I’ve ever had there and highly recommended. This place is also relatively cheap. If I lived or worked in the area I would go often.

What an amazing find!!! This place offers excellence I wasn't expecting to find. The plate comes loaded and the salad was particularly good. The atmosphere is tidy yet completely approachable. The employees transform meals into special occasions. This place has visual harmony.

The pineapple seafood fried rice and the curry chicken were definitely a highlight! To pair with the dish, the lemon pineapple ginger drink. Will definitely come back and visit again.

J
John Wendeborn

Non-vegans and vegans alike will love it here. The tofu dishes mimicked meat excellently, and there was a wide variety of dishes to choose from. We ordered three appetizers and two mains; everything was delicious. We aren't 21, so no drinks for us, but they looked unique as well. Small place, so perhaps not great for large groups of 6+, but it's cozy and intimate. Would definitely recommend.

E

We have been eating here every time we come to NYC for years. It is great vegan food that taste like not vegan food. We love the fake fried chicken. My son got fake ribs. We live in Ohio so it is rare we get good vegan food. The mashed potatoes were a little hard and lumpy and we did not live the collard greens but we really go for the fake meat anyway. We were super happy. 12 year old son stuffed himself and is very happy.

Prior to my arrival in NY I deliberately decided that this place was on my plant-based restaurant visitation list. My choice was very much vindicated. This quiet, cosy and unassuming restaurant did not disappoint. The menu is vast (you’ll be spoilt for choice) and appealing and the portions are substantial. Service is welcoming and they are very knowledgeable about the vast array of foods options available on the menu. I had the chicken and fries and the Thai beef curry. Bother were delicious. If I’m ever in NY again I will definitely be back to try a few more items on this places menu.

J
Justin Prince

A quaint, slightly hidden gem by Washington Park! Don’t be fooled, for this meat eater loves their vegan food. Get their buffalo wings. I love their teriyaki chicken noodle bowl! Honestly everything is good. A must stop if you are in NYC and hungry for lunch or dinner.

S
Sukriti Roy

Great food as always!! Staff is always polite and helpful! A must stop for vegan delicacies. Pro tips: 1) A rainy Monday afternoon is the best time for a visit (like today, lol). 2) Creole soul chicken- THE BEST. It’s 🔥. 3) Other recommendations: Thai beef curry, tonkatsu chops, and sizzling pepper steak platter. Go get Red Bamboooooo! ♥️ 🎋

This place validates the effort of searching for good food. They cook well, mix drinks well and design spaces well. Staff delivered notably good service! Every dish before dessert was incredible, looked professional and matched well. Wonderful cooking, prompt attention, and remarkably kind staff!

Nice, tasty, cool place and very very decent prices. Hugh menu with many options and the flavours are interesting. One time is not enough if you want to try all of the combinations the can offer. I enjoyed a lot even though the cute waitress didn't fancy me so much....oh well.

I came in to place a large takeaway order. Leslie is fantastic and took care of my order with all my special requests. I got a milkshake to go and it was delicious!! Forgot to take food/drink photos but I did take photos of the menu to share here. Adding that when I picked up my order, the kitchen had labeled everything how I asked which helped me so much!! Outstanding service at this restaurant. Everyone loved the food tonight. 😋

One of the best vegan places I've ever been. I tried the vegan chicken rice, and it was perfect in terms of flavor and textures. The vegan chicken tastes brilliant, I absolutely loved it and actually looking forward to visiting another time and trying something new on their menu. The lady there (not our server) was very sweet and the ambience is very cozy, so this place is perfect for a late lunch where you just wanna have a beer and eat great food after a long tiring day of exploring the neighborhood. 🫰🏼🫰🏼🫰🏼

Must try 100% vegan restaurant! Massive portions & all dishes were wonderful. We tried Sizzling Steak platter (good recommendation to upgrade side rice to Garlice Fried Rice!) & Chicken Parmesan (nice sauce!) So many interesting menu items - many different cuisines represented ranging from Asian to Creole to Italian Located near NYU - look for the stairs, directly off street level

I had the wonderful opportunity to dine at this restaurant, not my first visit, but this time stood out. The welcoming staff and a conversation with the owner enhanced the experience. The bold flavors and visually stunning dishes, including broccoli, mash, sour chicken, and exceptional spring rolls, left nothing to be desired. A solid 10 out of 10 – a must-visit in the West Fourth area of New York City.

The food is excellent! Prices are pretty high, but you get the best vegan food in the world! If you ever have cravings after meat/fish: I've never ate animal products that taste so realistic. Tfust me. It's CRAZY! They do a great job and beside the fact, that you have to pay a lot to get perfect food, it is definetly worth it!

WOW. we were blown away by the food here. we split the fried tofu and zucchini, and i swear we were almost too full to eat our entrees. the portion sizes are huge for a great price. i ordered the creole soul chicken as my meal and could only finish a few pieces, which was totally fine because they reheated super well for leftovers. my friend got the teriyaki chicken bowl. both meals were absolutely amazing. a must stop for vegans visiting NYC

We had a very tasteful dinner at red bamboo. We just found it by hazard and we incredible happy for that. Really great food, super friendly staff and nice location. Just the beer is kind of special and not truly our taste but ok :)

Love the restaurant. First discovered it on a college tour of NYU, and it’s located right next to the school of Law. I’ve come back four times since the first time. Service was great and the waitresses were very friendly. The food is amazing, and I always take a meal to go whenever I visit. Every meal I get is better than the last. It’s out of my way since I stay downtown normally, but I always make an effort to come.

J

Wow....what can I say. I've been going here ever since I was a kid with my parents. And then for lunch a few times when I was a Counselor in training at a summer camp. And lots of other times. Great memories. Amazing food and the some cozy vibes are just immaculate.

Everyone who worked at “The Boo” cloaked you with welcomeness. I wish them all success as well as sincere gratitude for their robust kindness. I kinda sobbed when I found out this vegan restaurant with the creative & vast menu (and specials, to boot!) was closing. I honestly can’t recall when they weren’t around…whether for a stop-in lunch, leisurely dinner or legendary Thanksgiving (for 2 days!). So grateful to have been there for their last Saturday. As I left, the sidewalk became blurry from tears. Peace & All Good Things to each of the team at Red Bamboo. Just shy of two and a half decades…and I will feel my heart ache whenever I walk down this part of 4th St.

M

Awesome addition of the Filipino dishes! I've come back twice to try them! They have the best Vegan Wings in the city, for sure. I also love their Creole Soul Chicken, really a standout on the menu. The Pork Adobo is such an excellent new item. I think everyone should try it!

V

I LOVE THIS PLACE! Is that enough said...totally obsessed. I haven’t had a dish that isn’t good, always delicious. The food is so flavorful, fresh ingredients, sauces amazing, and dishes innovative. My absolute go to dishes are the buffalo wings and chicken with broccoli. The chicken with broccoli tastes even better the next day as it’s soaked in the dry chilies longer and even more spicier- amazing. Their popcorn shrimp is a really good appetizer - soy density is spot on. And their dessert- wow! The vegan carrot cake is ridiculous- just melt in your mouth and moist...can’t even tell it’s vegan. Every time I’m there you have to roll me out- along with my 10 to go orders for home bc I want more.

I had a great experience dining here, with one of the most kindest waiter ever. The atmosphere is cozy and everyone was so friendly including the other guests. The meal I ordered was so tasty! It was very satisfying and filling. I can’t wait to go back and try something different.

Amazing. Went with two meat eaters and they both enjoyed it! Huge menu and everything we got (the bourbon chicken, creole chicken, fried shrimp and sweet and sour chicken) was great. The creole chicken was the favorite! Great friendly staff and nice dining area. Good selection of vegan beer (all local) and wine. Quiet enough to keep talking.

L
Louise Mabulo

Great spot, loved the food, and really good pricing. Drinks were huge! Good option to hang out here and catch up with friends, and everything was surprisingly vegan, even if nothing was explicitly labeled vegan except the ice cream. Actually enjoyed the vegan “meats” (coming from a meat eater) and everything was flavorful.

M

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. The packaging didn't make the food look too great but once I had a bite I knew I'd have to try more from their menu. I had the breakfast sandwich which I absolutely did enjoy, and my girlfriend had the chicken cutlet sandwich with daiya cheddar cheese. The breakfast sandwich was tasty but the chicken cutlet sandwich was so full of flavor. I would highly recommend that one. The fries were put in this container that trapped the steam in so they became soggy. That wasn't a huge deal for me, just providing a heads up. I definitely plan on returning when I'm in the area. There was a lot more from their menu that seemed appetizing to me

S

The food was amazing! Highly recommend the mashed potatoes and brown gravy! We ended up getting EXTRA brown gravy because it was so good! Plus organic vegan wine and the crunchiest breaded chicken, in the best, in NY.

Red Bamboo is like having a meal at home, but you hired a Top Chef to prepare it. The food is consistently amazing, comforting, and full of flavor, the kind of dishes that make you slow down and enjoy every bite. The team truly feels like family, welcoming, genuine, and proud of what they serve. Places like Red Bamboo matter. Supporting vegan restaurants means supporting care, culture, and community, and Red Bamboo delivers all three every single time.

This is one of our favorite go to spots in the village. Staff is always friendly and attentive, food is always fresh and delicious. Our kids love eating here, especially our 6 year old. If she had her way, she would eat here every day. As it is, she already drags us in to say HI to Jade or whoever is at the desk whenever we are within the vicinity (6 yr old owns us). We have brought our non vegan meat eating friends for dinner here and they have loved their dinners and surprised with the textures. Red Bamboo is definitely a great place for everyone

I love it here! I came here when I became vegan and was afraid to try new things and i’m so glad I did. I’ve missed many of the foods I cut out and red bamboo helped fill that void. I’m obsessed with their Cesar salad and their garlic fried rice but I like to try out new items every time I stop in because I know it’ll be good. Make sure you leave room for dessert!

This vegan restaurant can please even the non vegans. We tried the "chicken" sandwich, the bbq buffalo wings, and the bbq steak hero. Everything was absolutely delicious! The wings and chicken are a must though. The atmosphere is so so welcoming and warm. Our service was outstanding, and Jade the owner is one of the nicest people I've had the pleasure to meet. They go way out of the way to make sure you have a great experience. Im not a sweets person but they brought out a piece of chocolate cake and I'm still thinking about it.

A great restaurant with much more to offer than what we ate and definitely worth a second visit if/when we return to NYC. We both opted for their vegan wings, one with the BBQ buffalo sauce and one as the Hot Ones challenge, which comes with a bottle of every hot sauce used in the 24th season to apply as little or as much as you want. The menu is extensive and looks amazing, but we only had time for a light-ish lunch and I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to take on the Hot Ones lineup (as a chilli-head). A place definitely worthy of your custom and support, and one we’ll make certain to visit to try more of their offerings when we can.

My favorite types of food are chicken, shrimp, and vegan options!! 😋 I love having a platter so I can try more than one delicious thing, especially those chicken wings. I was so full I couldn't try everything, but I definitely plan to come back for that popcorn shrimp. The service was great, so I think I’ll be returning s.

Holy crap, this place has some banger food. I tried the chicken satay and was extremely impressed. You MUST try a slice of cheesecake -- it is some of the best I have ever tried. My only regret was not being able to visit more than once.

One of the best feelings is stumbling upon a restaurant that is unassuming but just offers delicious, no frills food. That is Red Bamboo. Stepping into the restaurant and speaking with the owner, Jade, is like stepping back into a time from when I was younger, before every restaurant was filled with gimmicks or aesthetics and portions were meant to fill you up. It's always nice to support small businesses in these times and especially when the owners are as kind as this one. I had never gotten Filipino food before and did not think I could ever have it as a vegan. I'm glad that this restaurant offers some authentic Filipino food (I had the adobo). For those who may want something different, they also have a wide variety of other foods and desserts. Their wings are some of the best vegan wings I've had. Also for those who don't know, these are the wings that were featured on the Hot Ones with Ariana Grande (the barbecue wings are great). They also offer a Hot Ones challenge for those who want to try some spice. Having been here for 31 years, Red Bamboo deserves more attention. I'd highly recommend checking it out. I think it deserves a spot as a vegan staple in NYC amongst the many others.

Red Bamboo 140 W. 4th. St. New York, NY 10012 Buffalo Barbecue Wings Vegetable Tempura Grilled Bourbon Chicken Coconut Chicken With Pineapple Slices Creole Soul Chicken Sizzling Pepper Steak Oreo Cheesecake Coconut Custard Cake Appearance: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Taste: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ It is quite the feat to prepare scrumptious meat that isn’t actually meat. Serving American to International vegan cuisine, you will be blown away at how authentic everything tastes. The spicy, tangy, chewy wings are smothered in sauce. Don’t worry about biting into any bones because there’s only a wooden stick in the center that’s easy to remove. If you aren’t a fan of vegetables, the tempura will change your mind. The battered coated veggies was served piping hot. It put a new meaning to broccoli, peppers, and zucchini! The sizzling pepper steak arrived literally sizzling with smoke billowing from the skillet like a locomotive. Between the seasoning and sauce, you won’t go wrong. You won’t be disappointed with whichever chicken plate you desire. My personal favorite was the coconut chicken because of its crispiness with a touch of sweetness; pineapple is a strong backbone to this dish! Cheesecake Factory has a fierce competitor. Even though it’s not actually Oreos, The Oreo cheesecake is so delicious that I would have thought it was made using the prestigious Nabisco cookie! If you are looking for fine dining that is not prepared from animals or their byproducts, check out Red Bamboo. You won’t even notice a difference in this vegan utopia. #RedBamboo #veganfood #tempura #vegancheesecake #westvillagenyc #lowermanhattan #veganfoodporn

This place is 10/10 in terms of taste, staff and vibe. The food was delicious, loved it. The prices are reasonable and portion size is good. We ordered : Creole Soul Chicken - 8/10 Almond Coconut - 8/10 Tiramisu - 10/10 (The best vegan tiramisu ever) The staff is super sweet and nice, they recommend you the best. So visit here if you are in NYC. There are so many vegan dishes to try, you will be confused! 100% recommended!

It's great to have a vegan alternative to Filipino food! As a very meat-centric culture, I was happy to try dishes that traditionally were off my plate. I can't wait to try other dishes there!!

Entire menu is vegan and there's so many options to choose from, from realistic mock seafood to savory handheld sandwiches. If you're a vegan visiting New York City, this place needs to be on your list of restaurants to visit. After a stroll through Greenwich Village this place is absolutely perfect to stop in and refuel with some good grub. They have a vegan beer list as well which is pretty unique. Can't recommend enough and will be coming back when I return to NYC.

One of the best vegan restaurants in the city. Came with a friend who LOVES meat and she was impressed with every dish we ordered. Her favorites were the Soy Fish Tacos and the veggie lo mein. My dish, which I took a picture of, was their new Teriyaki Bowl. It was delicious. Why the 4 stars? Not only does this place get extremely packed in the evenings and its super small, the wait list is super long and while I didn't mind waiting ( I made new friends on the line) I did mind that the hostess forgot about us. Table after table were cleared up and people who came before us got seated first. At first we thought that they had online reservations, but when I asked how long for us to get a table, the hostess said "oh you can sit now". I fess too many people had her spinning. Still, I will return in a few days for a late bite and then head over to the bar for some game of pool.

I went yesterday to this amazing place. It was very crowded and we were waiting in line for almost an hour before we got the table. We ordered tempuras, roti canai, Asian dumplings for starters Roti canai was amazing!! For main course we ordered eggplant parmesan, coconut chicken, mango chicken. Mango chicken was the best. I definitely recommend this place and try out mango chicken and coconut cake. Be sure to be patient to be seated!!

Nuggets were good. Nearly as good as nuggets could be I suppose. The sauce was nice as well. Lemon lime cake was also really quite good. Wasn’t the best vegan food I’ve had in the city but certainly among the best.

This was my first visit and it was well worth it. It's a small cozy place. If you are visiting on weekends better make reservations ahead of time. The buffalo wings were really delicious. The milkshake tasted little different due to soy milk used. But not bad. We ordered Portobello Mushrooms it was ok, to much soy sauce. And then the spicy chicken was ok as well. It was made to look like real chicken or steak pieces. They have a lot of different items on the menu which we didn't got chance to try. But will visit again soon.

Was Recommended to try, I liked the food but not enough for 5 stars as this is not my preference in food. Tried something new and it was good. Would recommend to try if you enjoy soy based products.

Vegan eats review: Eclectic menu. Nice staff. Friendly not intrusive. Spinach dumplings have a thicker skin than anticipated but comes with a yummy sweet soy sauce and a palate cleansing salad with ginger carrot dressing. Fried chick’n salad has same salad and is perfect portion when you are hungry. Chick’n sandwich is on a delicious crispy bun. Wish I had room for the yummy dessert menu that boasts several cheesecakes, a key lime pie, and assorted ice cream floats.

The very popular "Red Bamboo" on West 4th street is a Vegan's paradise for your mouth. A little bit pricey but if you crave animal cruelty-free dining, then the cost is well worth the trip. Meat eaters will also love the variety of tasty meat substitute meals. Plenty to choose from. You won't regret it :)

This is a decent vegetarian restaurant. Well priced with good quality food. Pro tip: The coffee shake and the chicken wings are great. However as a non-vegetarian I found the sweet and sour chicken a little too mushy.

I’ve been going to Red Bamboo for many years. Last night (9/22/25) was perhaps my 10th visit. Our waiter was outstanding! Really 5 star service. The Sampler Platter was the perfect appetizer for a party of 4. Yes it’s a lot of fried food, but the three sauces were tasty and we enjoyed the variety. Three of the four entrees were hits although one of my companions mentioned that the vegan ribs were a little dense. The one dish I cannot recommend is the Kare Kare, the special Filipino peanut stew which was not flavorful and was extremely “soupy”. Since I’ve never had the original perhaps that was the point, but from my perspective it needs to be reworked or dropped from the menu.

Ok, this review is for the carnivores. I’m having a hard time accepting that what I ate here was not actually steak and chicken🤯. These vegan chefs are magicians. Flavorful and yummy. Deep skeptic turned believer. I now have a casual vegan spot to go to with my foraging friends.

P
Poorvi Goradia

Small spot with a huge variety of vegan options - the portion sizes are quite large, so we only got a few starters: the dragonfly dumplings, the chicken satay, and the fish tacos. Our favorite were the tacos, which were incredibly flavorful, fresh, and were very filling. The dragonfly dumplings were a bit mushier than expected, and the filling was quite plain. We’ve been here before and have really enjoyed the entrees, but wish that portion sizes were a bit smaller so that we could order and try more :)

This place is great! I just think the food is very salty and/or a little sour. My mom came here when she was in collage! Still open and great! Other dishes are probably better than mine. I ordered the veggie lo mein.

I chose to go this restaurant for lunch as a group of 3 friends as this was a Chinese vegan place on my to-go list. The food was slightly short of good, in my opinion. The mock-meat were hard to chew, perhaps that's how the original meat would be. The one dish that all 3 of us liked was the 'sweet and sour chicken' (not pictured) which was having a heavy tangy flavour that overshadowed everything else. August 16, 2024.

Red Bamboo has been on my list for some time. First impression was how badly the place smelled. Could not believe it! Went to the bathroom to find out it was worse than a truck stop however my husband encouraged us to give it a chance and we were pleasantly surprised. We ordered the BBQ Buffalo Wings (SO GOOD), Sizzling Pepper Steak Platter (he says it was a touch bland), Classic b.l.t. (perfect), & Death by Chocolate Cake (Amazzzzzing not sure if it was housemade but would order again, perfect punch of cherry). Our overall thoughts are questionable cleanliness but delicious food. Would recommend ordering for take out, not dine in - too smelly!

We found the place to be okay ish. The food was okay, ambience was okay and the service was okay. Though there were a lot of vegan options to choose from. They have a pretty elaborate menu and a lot of variety. The place is a little tight but we easily got in, no prior reservation was required on a weekday. We ordered Roti Canai which comes with a chicken and potato coconut curry. It was just fine, could have been a lot better. Also wanted to try the famous Barbecue buffalo wings, they were decent. The chicken skin was actually crispy and had a crunch to it. The dish was quite filling and a whole meal in itself but something still felt incomplete. May be a little spicy sauce would have made it a complete 10/10. The main course options are full with so many varieties, you'll probably get confused. We narrowed down upon Spicy chicken with broccoli and it was hands down the best dish of the night. The chicken had a good bite to it and the wok fried vegetables topped with peanuts went perfect together. This dish was the highlight of the table and the restaurant deserves +1 star solely because of this dish. The place is a decent one-time experience for vegan food and one can give it a shot if you are in the nearby area.

The Popcorn Chicken was alright. The French fries were hot and some were great others were soggy. The last photo you see is the Bamburger. This was a soggy mess. There was so much much mayo that the burger began to fall apart after two bites. I think the burger would be better without all those soggy toppings. I was really disappointed with this order. 😔 I hope other menu items are better than my order. Unfortunately, I wouldn't order from here again.

Decent vegan food but it didn’t blow me away. The appetizers reminded me of something defrosted out of the frozen section of Whole Foods. I had the southern fried chicken which was decent and worth having. I wouldn’t go out of my way to go back but if I was in the area I would eat here again. I would caution you to be careful with your order as it seems very hit or miss. The cheese cake was absolutely amazing though, if you’re going I would recommend the dessert!

The Service was good, the food I'm sorry to say was a bit of a let-down. The pasta and sauce were decent, but the "soy" meatballs were soggy and had a strange flavor to them. I was expecting them to be on par or better than the frozen "soy" meatballs I get from Aldi.

Discreet vegan spot that offers alternative flavors to the foods you know and love. Service was nice and attentive to our needs. The Sweet and Sour Chicken and Bamboo Curry were on par with each other but I felt like they tasted better the first time I ate Red Bamboo a couple of years ago.. I’m left somewhat conflicted in whether I’d come back.

I went to this restaurant with high hopes but didn't enjoy the food. We ordered barbecue buffalo wings(I didn't like them because of the very sweet taste of the sauce), fish tacos( tempura batter was not properly cooked), and Chicken Gyro was okay but the French fries side was amazing. For noodles, we ordered Veggie lo me which was also okay with me. I prefer spicy food and it was kind of bland in taste. We also have Roti canai, it was yummy. The restaurant's ambiance was good.

I ordered the sweet and sour chicken and got it delivered. Online, it said that the soy “chicken” would be sautéed with the vegetables but they were all RAW (as seen in the picture)! I did the like the soy bits though. Additionally, the bottom of the container was watery…. As seen in the picture this made the bottom of several pieces wet and mushy. I received the sauce in a separate container and the portions were good but it is SO sweet and overwhelms the other flavors. I really wanted to like this restaurant and had been meaning to try for a while but this was disappointing. I ordered the vegan fried eggs that honestly looked sad. I literally never leave reviews but this baffled me. EDIT: I see the owners responded and I appreciate that. I understand the sauce was separated and had no issue but the vegetables were not cooked at ALL and the sauce was very overwhelming.

The BBQ Buffalo Wings were complimentary due to the restaurant's birthday sale and they were tasty. The entrees we ordered, however, were not. The Creole Soul Chicken was nothing more than an overpriced reheated Kid Cuisine. Everything lacked flavor. The veggies were not seasoned, the soy nuggets were tough, and the mashed potatoes were grainy. The pasta under the Eggplant Parmesan was also unseasoned and there was barely any cheese. For $22 and $24 respectively, it was plain daylight robbery. Even the wings which we liked would have been $18. Uninspired, flavorless, and overpriced. Will not be coming back.

Food poisoning!!! Got a take out thanksgiving meal for 3. When we got home we found out that the food was DIRTY and the cake taste like soap / chemicals. I called to complain and the manager who picked up the call was extremely rude! I have explained that the cake was old and made me sick and was told that “they don’t have the time to deal with me and I can send an email if I like to” Disgusting!!

This review is for a take out order- so perhaps Red Bamboo is marginally better in person- or just go for apps and drinks. Spark notes: overpriced, under-seasoned watery, frozen vegetables - definitely not worth it. I ordered Red Bamboo take out for a long night of studying. I placed my order over the phone and the hostess was very professional and kind- both over the phone and when I saw her in person. The food smelled good, but unfortunately the praise stops there. I ordered the Teriyaki Vegetable Stir Fry and added tofu for $4 for a total of $19.00. I honestly cannot imagine paying $15 for frozen vegetables. Here’s the menu description: Zucchini, mushrooms, broccoli, squash, carrots and cauliflower sautéed in a sweet teriyaki glaze. Check out my pictures and let me know if the teriyaki “glaze” looks appetizing to you. It was a literal puddle of water w a splash of sauce. It was apparent the vegetables were either previously frozen or wayyy over steamed and let out all their water which mixed with the sauce. Totally unappealing and inedible. Very disappointed. I will say the spring rolls $5 for 2 were delicious. The ambiance was nice when I walked in, and the hostess was nice, but my main dish was disgusting. Love spending $26 + tip on dinner and still ending up eating mac and cheese for dinner 🥲
