San Pietro offers an authentic Italian experience with exceptional service, especially from Manol. Many praise the fresh pasta, veal, and zucchini flower appetizer. Some find it overpriced, with occasional billing issues or slow service when short-staffed.

Manolo made us feel like we were family for my mom’s bday. The food was clearly high quality ingredients and fresh pasta was amazing. Will definitely be back!
one of the best Italian restaurant in NewYork delicious food, excellent service and good seating.the waiter called the chef personally to be sure of our order as we decided to change the meal ingredients.prices reasonable for the quality &quantity 😀 😋
Delicious menu and drink, a must if you live in NY. Best place outside if Italy for sure. Get the veal and the Grappa!
A place that definitely I recommend to the lovers of Italian cuisine. The food was amazing and the staff very welcoming. I will definitely go back 😍
Classic Italian restaurant experience. I like the mature waiters willing to say "let me just bring you our best wine pairing for your dinner". And it's an experience just to listen to the 16 specials detailed then summarized in reverse order. We had lamb, pasta, and branzino. All well prepared. Pasta was fresh made and a highlight. Branzino is a house speciality and also exceptional. Lamb was tasty, if one minor complaint it would be that we ordered medium rare and the lamb was well done. That said, overall a delightful experience I'd recommend to anyone.
Everyone is so cute in here and the food is sooo good. The mature waiter recommended us really good pasta and the tiramisu was delicious. Love it!

As soon as my partner and I walked in for our special date night dinner, we were welcomed warmly by Manol who should be promoted or receive a raise for such wonderful service. The whole meal felt so personal and as if we were being spoiled. There is such attention to detail with the bread and olives and they even put butter on ice at the beginning. Other very attentive staff ready to take care of you throughout the whole meal. Very old fashioned Italian and highly highly authentic!!! Would absolutely recommend and would love to keep them in business! Thank you so much for truly completing our night and for making us feel at home away from home.
Such a sweet, small restaurant with fabulous service. The food was wonderful. Highly recommend the zucchini flower appetizer! Would definitely come here again. Well worth the price!
If you want an fabulous, authentic Italian experience, this is your place. The staff, the head waiter, the servers and even the bus boys were fantastic. I never press a glad of wine or water. The food was exquisite. The fish and veal specials were outstanding. We had a party of 14 and nobody wanted for anything. There were also smaller, romantic tables. The prices were in line with a fine dining experience. If you want a nice experience woke in NYC, this is a great option.
Long overdue review. Unbelievable experience. I don't normally take the time to post restaurant reviews but I had to for this one. I took a lot into account. Cleanliness, decor, ambiance, staff and of course...the food. I've been to Italy once and I can honestly say the feeling I got walking in there simulated that experience like no other restaurant I've been to. You can tell the owner was meticulous about creating an experience and not just a place to dine. The staff was unbelievably friendly and was very attentive. It was beyond professional...it was personal. They sincerely wanted to ensure I was enjoying myself and that I was pleased. The service was quick and the food was spectacular. The owner came down and spoke to us as well. You could see the passion and love he has for creating such a magnificent experience. I am looking forward to visiting as soon as this quarantine is over.

Update... So we returned after the incident from about five years ago below. The owner wasn't there today, but the long-time head waiter, who is fantastic, and the real reason why this restaurant still operates took great care of us today. The food was excellent as well. I'm going to move my rating up from one star to four stars based on this recent visit... I have been going to San Pietro for years and have recommended it many times to friends and colleagues, but from my previous experience, it will be the last time that I ever visit the place. I had taken a client out to lunch who happens to be over 90 years old and hard of hearing. He inadvertently ordered the wrong main course and asked for it to be changed. The owner ran to our table, yelled, and threw a fit over the request. In all of my years entertaining, I had never seen anything so unprofessional, especially from a place supposedly this high-end. It was horrifying, to say the least, and I could tell that the waiter (who is great, btw) was incredibly embarrassed. As I was leaving the restaurant I walked over to the owner and let him know that I didn't appreciate his treatment of my elderly client and his response to me was "this is my house, get out". With an attitude and treatment of customers like that, it won't be his house much longer. Needless to say, I won't be recommending or returning to San Pietro ever again.
Take a step back in time! The service here is what truly separates the spot from other restaurants! You are greeted like an old family friend and given the specials by your uncle! It was great! The food was inspired by rustic classic Italian fare and did not skip a beat!

Food was incredible! Atmosphere really stunning, sommelier helped me choose a great wine, and the homemade gelato was straight out of Italy, so delicious. Only thing off was that the prices on our bill didn’t match the menu… but I would definitely recommend this place nonetheless.
Great food, salad salty but still delicious. Service was off their game, got wrong order (which was corrected) and waited 20 minutes for menus. They were clearly short staffed, but still very nice and attentive. Lunch entree was awesome - portion more than enough. One regret, can’t blame San Pietro for, was it was super loud. Good for celebratory meal, not so much for a getting to know you meal where I had to strain to hear my tables words. Very expensive. I’d go back in heartbeat so long as I can expense lunch!

Overpriced in my opinion and we've been to several good NYC restaurants. Seems to be a local favorite. Desserts was below average, you'd think the caliber would be better. It's not all negative, service was great and the owner very friendly. Appetizer and entree were good.

We had a reservation at 7 pm - get to the restaurant at 6:55 and we got in trouble by the waiter for not calling ahead. The whole meal was chaotic from start to finish. They didn’t refill waters (beware they charge $10 for 1 bottle of water and didn’t even offer tap water as an option). The food was just ok. We didn’t even get 1 of the dishes we ordered. The portions are very small and some dishes were salty. The worst part of the meal was when we got our check. Suddenly, our bill had different dishes than what we ordered and we were charged $235 dollars initially. We only got 1 salad, 1 entree pasta, and a small serving of eggplant Parmesan (pictured here) which was the special. We told our waiter about the wrong charges on the bill and he seemed irritated and took the check back. He brought it back with a few dollars knocked off. However the bill was still wrong. The head waiter then comes over and tells us that the eggplant Parmesan was usually $60(!!!) and he gave us a special price and he ended up charging $48 for it. He then up charged the price of all of the dishes we ordered by a few dollars. There’s only a few menus to go around for the whole restaurant so I couldn’t even reference it to double check the prices. Overall, we paid $134 (so $100 less than what they initially charged us). Between the mediocre food, poor service, and highly inflated prices - we were highly disappointed and would not go back.

Food was Average for Authentic Italian cuisine, overpriced is an understatement! But what pissed me off is my wife got a bottle of Oberon cabernet 28.00 in a liqour store they charged me 158.00 dollars so for that i wouldn’t go back especially!! most places charge like 60.00 for something like this!

We were a large party. It took forever to serve us. The waiter came over and said sorry for the inconvenience. Let me take care of the appetizers. Too many appetizers arrived, we mentioned it to the waiter and he said don't worry about it. Not only were the appetizers just so so but when the bill came, it was ridiculously expensive. They thought we were out of towners So they try to stick it to us. STAY AWAY
My recent dining experience at this restaurant left much to be desired. From the moment we were seated, it became apparent that there was a severe lack of coordination among the staff. While one waiter initially placed plates on our table, another quickly snatched them away without explanation, setting a chaotic tone for the evening. The confusion continued when we asked for wine menus. Instead of providing the menus, they inexplicably put down wine glasses. To our surprise, a different waiter promptly picked up the glasses, leaving us bewildered and frustrated. The issues extended to the food as well. The pasta we ordered was disappointingly salty, to the point of being nearly inedible. When we tried to express our concerns to the waiter, we were met with rudeness and a dismissive attitude. Their excuse for the salty taste was beyond belief, as they blamed it on "smoked fish" and insinuated that we didn't understand the flavors. The service overall was a comedy of errors, with multiple waiters repeatedly asking the same questions about our water and wine preferences. It seemed like there was a complete lack of communication among the staff. In summary, this dining experience was a chaotic mess, with poor service and unsatisfactory food. I strongly advise against dining at this restaurant. It was a frustrating and disappointing evening that left much to be desired.
We had lunch here two weeks ago and the prices are outrageous. Lunch for two with no drinks, no coffee, no dessert was over $200. We went with the specials the waiter recommended and each had a bowl of soup as an appetizer ($35 for EACH bowl of soup ... a lentil and a chicken). I had tuna which was a plain grilled tuna - nothing special ... it was overcooked and fishy - it was $70. There is a difference between price increases and price gouging and that will be the last time we don't ask for prices on specials or dine in this restaurant.

Horrible experience! Had to pay the check and go eat dinner at another restaurant right after. Extremely disappointed at the food and service. Very rude and arrogant staff. Not typical Italian food you are looking for- very bland tasting and you could get better Italian food for half the price anywhere else in the area and the city. I am a vegetarian and asked for no pork/no meat pasta dish and waiter still brought out meat dish casually saying to me that it only has turkey … sir do you know what being vegetarian means? Service is bad quality and waiters give attitude and makes you feel guilty for asking for something. We live over on 5th Avenue and won’t be going here anymore nor consider it even as a neighborhood spot!
