super amazing experience for 12 pieces omakase courses. Please do order the Big Mac the fantastic one-bite at the end of the journey. The bite is even large enough of two mouthful tastes for you to fully chew and feel the combination of all layers. Drinks are perfect. We were grateful to be fortunately treated with 2 shots of sake from the staff since it’s a birthday celebration occasion! Thank you so much! Overall a high-quality and wonderful dining spot for those who loves Japanese fresh sushi. I especially admire the way as well time of serving which is appropriately presented and controlled by the chef.
I booked Sushi by Bou Nomad for our sisters night out. We expected a typical omakase dinner but Adrian and Chef Koichi made our experience truly fun and unforgettable. As soon as Adrian realized we had the entire place to ourselves, he asked us which music we wanna listen to and I think that was brilliant. They didn’t have the drink that I wanted (veuve clicquot) but he was quick to suggest an alternative. Chef Koichi shared stories about music and food as we toast to making it in NY. Would love to be back with friends next time! Highly recommend if you want an upbeat omakase experience.
I love omakase but haven't been to a spot in a while and this place definitely did not disappoint! Great value ($65 for 12 courses -- with add-ons available), delicious drinks, excellent service, and fun vibes (cool wall art, dark space, and 90s hip hop music)!! Loved everything about it! (The only qualms I have is with the $58 add-on of thr caviar bump -- I did not think it was worth it.) Will definitely be back!
The best omikasi hands down. Chef Win was a joy to watch hand craft each piece of Culinary delight. The fish was so fresh and amazingly prepared. The Bougie 17 course is the way to go, if you love sushi so worth the price. The bartender and all service staff were amazing and truly knowledgeable about drinks. A hit, an amazing experience!! Reservation a must as this is a culinary sushi show and dinner
My friend treated me to the Omikase at Sushi By Bou. It was fun. Super intimate, the restaurant is tiny with the bar seating maybe 12 people max. Each piece of sushi was delicious. I wasn't drinking, but my partner was and drank his G&T in addition to the generous shots of free saki they gave us. It was fun. You should go.
Been to a couple of their other locations, but had to stop by this one and was genuinely impressed. The food, the service, the atmosphere was all amazing. My favorite part about this chain is how small and intimate the space is, and the interior design is always beautiful & different at each location. But this has to be best location yet since there was a small Japanese theme bar next door where you could continue to hang out. Razo, was so welcoming and kind and made the experience that much better! We will definitely be coming back for their tuna tour!
What a great little spot! Such a vibe, sushi and drinks were spot on. We did the 12 course omakase and ordered some additional pieces. Staff was attentive and it's such a great vibe here playing 90s hip-hop. There is even a little speakeasy in the back with fun claw machines. Will def come back for the 17 course.
Was gifted a gift certificate for sushi by Bou for a present from my brother and sil so we just had to go try it out. Everyone there were super nice and attentive. The food and drinks were absolutely amazing. I was told this place was pretty fast paced but honestly, it felt perfectly fine for my husband and I. All the fish were so fresh and the flavor combinations the chef put together was incredible. We added on the "Big Mac" add on at the very end, even though we were extremely stuffed from our 17 course omakase and it was worth stuffing it down! Would definitely come back again!
Had such a great time here. It’s one of my favorite omakase places. The staff and the guests were nice and friendly. Chef Win did her thing. Cool vibes with throw back hiphop. The sushi was fresh and tasted amazing. The Big Mac is my favorite. Very good uni! Prices were reasonable. We did the 17 course and got a bad and bougie headband.
My friend and I went for their family/friends special, and we had a great time! Alejandro and Antonio were great hosts. We never had empty glasses. And our chef, El Chapo, was the best. He explained each piece thoroughly, and we had such great banter with him. He was so fun and knowledgeable. All of the sushi we had were so good and so fresh. Every piece was special in its own way. We definitely will have to come back.
This is my second visit to Sushi by Bou Nomad at Hotel 32|32. My first visit I went to the Suite which I found so much fun to step through the door to a hotel room containing a sushi bar and outdoor space. This visit I had the 12 course Omakase sushi tasting at the ground level restaurant. This comfortable spot accommodates up to 8 guests at a time. Delicate, fresh fish is served within a 30-minute time period, making it perfect for a quick lunch or pre/post theater dinner. It is affordable too. The chef works quickly and everyone is very attentive.
Easily one of my favorite omakase spots in the city. The ambiance was elegant as it's hidden in a hotel lobby. There's a speakeasy bar upstairs which was pretty cool. Easy parking along the street. It's also pretty affordable ($60 for 12 pieces) compared to other omakase in the city. And very high quality sushi. After the 12 pieces, you have the option to order any of them again a la carte which was great. Among my favorites were surf n turf (wagyu and sea urchin), scallops, salmon, lean tuna, fatty tuna. All of the pieces were delicious. Drinks also great. The 2nd time I went, they gave us sake on the house. I have been here 3 times already and will continue to come for more!!
Food was very tasty and good quality, but be prepared to be rushed. From the moment you sit down they are prepping every round of biggie very very quickly and the staff are pushing you through. Didn’t feel great to spend $300+ (for 2 people) while being rushed. Beware. If you want quality fish/nigiri quickly this might be the spot for you.
We went here for the $65 pp omakase. This is quite a deal for weekend night in nyc. We enjoyed the scallop, shrimp, chopped tuna, and roe particularly. I wasn’t accustomed to or the largest fan of having a big mound of ginger but no soy sauce or wasabi. The ambience is loud despite the small space with loud music and loud decor.
Warning: FOOD POISONING Came here for Valentine’s Day arrived probably 30 minutes early to our reservation and had drinks in lounge those were fine and normal but then we weren’t seated till about 40 minutes after the time of our reservation. Staff was super nice about it though so we didn’t really mind that much. The omakase experience was average not bad or exceptional and we didn’t really appreciate that they took our bottle of sake off the check for us. But they were obviously running very behind and had us eat dessert in the lounge without a table additionally dessert was just a tube of freezer burnt ice cream which was very lack luster. And this would’ve all been fine but then we got some of the worst food poisoning I’ve ever had from this place. Non stop vomiting.
I genuinely don’t understand the high reviews because my experience was extremely average at best. My friend made a booking last weekend, and this was my first time at Sushi by Bou even though I’ve been going to omakase at least once a month for the past 2.5 years in NYC. With that context, this was easily the worst omakase experience I’ve had. While the ingredients themselves were fresh, the portions were outrageously bad. The amount of fish and especially the rice was shockingly small. The couple sitting next to us even asked twice if they could get more rice, which really says a lot. On top of that, there was absolutely no creativity in the flavors. Every course blended into the next, and the entire meal was completely forgettable. To make things worse, they had also run out of uni. Basic inventory management should be expected... this just felt unprofessional. For the price point, this experience was unacceptable. I left feeling so hungry (never happened to me after an omakase) and ended up going to K-town afterward just to eat more food. My friend went straight home after and later told me she actually woke up hungry, which says everything. The seating was also uncomfortable, and the space was so dark it took away from whatever atmosphere they were trying to create. The only real positive I can mention is that the service was friendly and attentive. Overall, for this price, I would never return to Sushi by Bou unless it were free. There are far better omakase experiences in NYC that are more filling, more creative, and far more memorable.
UPDATE: I was able to contact the team by email and a successful refund for this visit has been completed. The quality of the sushi was completely overshadowed by the shockingly unprofessional conduct of the manager, Razo. What should have been a special and memorable evening (one we had explicitly noted in our reservation as celebrating a special occasion) ended with us being berated and humiliated in front of our family. We encountered a simple and honest misunderstanding regarding the bill, which came out to nearly three times what was advertised on the restaurant’s own website. While this may have stemmed from confusion on our part due to the site’s unclear UI and booking layout, we approached the situation calmly and politely, seeking only clarification. Instead, we were met with outright hostility. Razo was defensive, aggressive, and condescending, cutting us off mid-sentence, interrupting our questions, and refusing to help us understand the discrepancy. He escalated the situation unnecessarily — at one point threatening to involve security and even the police, despite our entirely reasonable efforts to communicate. What makes this even more disappointing is that the chef and remaining staff were gracious, professional, and clearly embarrassed by their manager’s conduct. They went out of their way to be kind, and even apologized for Razo’s overtly rude comments that made not only us but also the surrounding guests visibly uncomfortable. For a restaurant that markets itself as offering an “elevated” experience, this was a disgraceful display of poor management that completely ruined our night. We will not be returning — and strongly caution others to consider whether this is the kind of treatment they are willing to risk.
