5/5 – Absolutely the best chicken shawarma I’ve had in ages! This place completely nailed it. The chicken was perfectly spiced, juicy, and so flavorful – you can tell they actually care about the marinade. But what really blew me away was how fresh everything else was. Juicy tomatoes, crunchy peppers, tasted like they were just chopped – no wilted veggies here! And the sauce (that creamy goodness?) – oh man, it was next level. Generous portion, perfectly balanced, Every bite was fresh, vibrant, and downright delicious. If you’re craving real, authentic chicken shawarma that actually tastes homemade and full of life, this is your spot. Highly recommend – I’m already planning my next visit!
I’m on a personal mission to try everything on the menu. So far, the falafel sandwich is my favorite, fresh and made on the spot. The pizza is amazing too. And sometimes the food tastes even better because the music is that good. Not saying the music adds flavor, but it kind of does.
Cannot explain how good this place is. The best I have had outside the middle east! Falafel perfectly crisp and ALWAYS fresh. The sabich sandwich is unreal. Always making it fresh which is KEY! And the salads that go in the pita or in the bowl are really good quality. Been here about 5 times now and each time really great!
I had the falafel pita and it was absolutely delicious! Exactly what I needed on a rainy afternoon and well worth the half hour walk to get there. If only I was in New York for longer I’d be back to try the eggplant and cauliflower shawarma options. I would’ve liked a bit more spice in it, but that’s neither here nor there. There’s minimal seating inside (enough for 8 people) and a small outdoor seating area too. Definitely a place you should try whether you’re vegan or not.
I love a good falafel and I just happened upon this place. The vegan sign caught my attention. Any falafel joint worth its salt is going to make the falafel fresh to order and that’s what they did. The sandwich was well-made with tasty, warm, moist falafel balls, and a variety of vegetables and toppings. It was very satisfying.
I’m a Cava and Naya fan but this place have definitely take the first position as my favorite one, everything is perfect, fresh ingredients, nice presentation, great customer service. I can’t describe how satisfy I am with this place that I want to have it every day. Thank you Tamam for offering such a great experience!!!
I have been to many Mediterranean restaurants, and this one isn't a large place; it's mainly for grab-and-go or a quick bite. With only three dishes on the menu, however(!) they've nailed it! I recommend the falafel with cauliflower (its a $3 extra but it worth ut!) it's a great mix. Don't put anything on the bottom so your pita won't drip. ;) I think this is one of the better falafel pitas in NY.
I got sabich platter with everything and it was really yum!! The portion was very fulfilling and I'm glad I got platter because hummus bowl seems too heavy for one portion (total around $18). The fried eggplants were very good. There are outside tables and 2 inside tables but no restroom. I would recommend this place!
Delicious Israeli style Mediterranean food. Conveniently located, well priced, and absolutely delicious. The portions are gigantic and the staff is very friendly. The only downside is that this “plant based” eatery is now serving chicken after marketing itself as vegan for years. The switch is disheartening and means there’s some false advertising on their menu and materials. Still worth it for the vegan options, just know that they serve meat now.
While the food is pretty good, the service, atmosphere, and price lead this to be a 4-star review. First, the food is really tasty. Everything is very mildly spiced but fresh ingredients make this taste good. The warm pita bread they serve plates with are also extremely delicious (soft and flavorful). Service is ok - staff aren’t friendly, just terse. Atmosphere is also ok - not much seating and not the cleanest. Lastly, price is way overinflated from what it should be. A pita sandwich is very small and shouldn’t be $13 ($16 after tax/tip). And the bowls start at $17 ($21 after tax/tip)! Both of these prices need to drop at least three dollars before it is reasonable compared to other restaurants in the surrounding area.
The service and food are great! We got 2 falafel platters, which come with hummus, falafel, tahini, pickles, sauerkraut, pickled cabbage, israeli salad and rice/quinoa. It was delicious! There isn’t much room inside to sit (only 3 tables), but during the warmer months they have outdoor seating as well. The owner is very nice!
Tamam used to be my favorite spot on the upper east side. The restaurant is still labeled a vegan restaurant here on Google, but they are not vegan anymore. They have added carcasses to their menu. I asked the woman making my bowl the other week if the chicken was vegan chicken and she said yes, and gave me some to try on the side… Luckily, I could tell by the smell it was not vegan. I will not be going back. Just another cowardly restaurant adding meat to the menu and attempting to appease omnivores. But the real impact is that vegans will stop eating here.
