We had a great experience at Telio. The gyro platters were large, filling, and absolutely delicious. My son tried a lamb gyro for the first time and loved it. The chicken gyros were made with white breast meat which was a big plus for us. The service was attentive and very friendly. Telio is a great new addition to the neighborhood. We really hope it sticks around, since this is the third restaurant in this spot since we moved to the area in 2021. We will definitely be back.
We had a delicious meal at Telio's last night, with friends. The Greek chicken soup was wonderful. We also enjoyed a flavorful Branzino with crisp edges, lemon potatoes and a lamb shank with orzo, in a tomatoe sauce. The food and atmosphere made it a very nice evening out.
What a pleasure! The Upper West needed this place. Highest quality home-style cooking with flair, heads above the same, same Greek fare one usually finds. (Grandma is actually in the kitchen and you taste her heart in family recipes). The moussaka was beautiful and the seafood was super fresh. Don’t miss the zucchini fritters filled with fresh dill. I was also happy to see their beautiful renovation/transformation from the restaurant that preceded them. We felt so welcomed by the warm, friendly staff, and the space was so inviting. The light airy vibe with organic details and warm olive color scheme made me forget Broadway was just outside. Oh, and a great bar / happy hour to consider ;) We will be back!
Awesome addition to the neighborhood! We had the shrimp saganaki, halloumi, chicken meatballs and a chopped green salad with fresh herbs. Everything was really excellent, flavorful and bright. The shrimp was especially impressive…not your typical tasteless restaurant shrimp. It was vibey and fun at the bar and service was warm. My martini was also in a real martini glass…not a mini. Nice touch to make you feel not ripped off these days in nyc!
Fantastic new Greek restaurant, fancy-ish ambience yet still family friendly. Every dish was flavorful and appetizingly presented. The vegan stuffed eggplant was absolutely delicious, filled with sweet onions and tomatoes and savory mushrooms. The lemon potatoes melted in your mouth but the serving size was not worth the price (price wasn’t too high but amount was a bit skimpy). Beet hummus was excellent and the horiatiki salad was satisfying and bright (the capers added a fantastically salty touch). My daughter had the chicken souvlaki platter and said the meat was perfectly cooked and the rice fragrant with herbs. Only quibble was the tables all around us got their food significantly faster than we did. We waited a very long time between courses (it seemed like they forgot to fire our entrees). For the inconvenience the waiter brought my wife a glass of wine for our troubles which was a nice gesture, but with a hungry 9 year old it was a bit of a let down in an otherwise wonderful first experience. Hopefully things will go smoother on our next visit.
My husband, daughter and I just had dinner at Telio. The food was excellent, particularly the octopus, chicken soulaki (superb quality organic chicken, freshly cooked and moist) and the papoutsakia (stuffed eggplant). Servicings were generous and I'm stuffed. This is just the kind of restaurant the UWS needs.
This was my third visit to Telio Estiatorio, and the experience remains consistently outstanding. The food quality is truly exceptional and consistent—every dish I've had across all my visits has been superb. A special mention must go to the Moussaka, which is the very definition of the authentic Greek recipe; rich, comforting, and perfectly layered. Greek Loukaniko, Haloumi cheese, orzo and Lambchops are highly recommended too! The customer service is very good, driven by staff that is both friendly and genuinely welcoming. The restaurant offers excellent prices on the menu, providing high-quality food and service that delivers tremendous value for your money. This place is ideal for any occasion. Highly recommended!
This is the most excited I've ever been to write a review about a restaurant. My wife and I are foodies, and eat out quite a bit. Telio blew us away tonight. Our server Adam was amazing and almost read our minds for dessert. Our neighborhood really needed a new hot spot and Telio filled that need in perfectly. We will be back tomorrow!
So excited to have a good Greek spot in the neighborhood!! The food was phenomenal, I loved the seafood pasta. My husband went bananas in love for the chicken souvlaki. Portion sizes were great. Service was P H E N O M E N A L! Adam was a funny and attentive server that went out of his way to make sure our meal was fantastic. The place was cozy. The perfect new spot for date night!
The service is impeccable, and the food tastes authentic to Greece. Everything is finely flavored and perfectly balanced. They do seafood beautifully! And the Souvlaki is incredible. The tzatziki is absolutely amazing! Please find Adam and he will take care of you!!! A fantastic date spot or casual, laid-back dinner any night of the week.
Went in expecting to try out the new neighborhood restaurant and ended up blown away! The service was top notch, seated by the manager/owner and our server was extremely friendly. Beyond that, the food was served so quickly and was phenomenal. Specifically the Lamb Shank Youvetsi. Did NOT expect to get that level of flavor/quality when we went in. Will absolutely return and excited to see how the other dishes hold up to the first one.
So happy this terrific Mediterranean restaurant has opened on tbe UWS. Adriana is terrific! She had great recomendations and was very attentive and friendly. The food was delicious. We had tbe dolmadikas ( Grape leaves) Gyro ( beef & lamb) and tbe swordfish solvakas. Every thing g was fresh and very tasty. Will definitely be coming back.
Underrated Greek spot in UWS! Am not too experienced with Greek food, but I really enjoyed the food! The somewhat high price came with a large portion of really good food. The bread was much more flavorful than I expected. We got a Tyrokafteri (red pepper and feta cheese spread) that was really tasty with the pita. The Tilapia Mediterranean was really nicely cooked a little crispy on the edges, and went really nicely with the rice and tomato flavors. The Greek Sampler was huge! The fries were fresh and crispy, and the meats were a nice sample of everything, and likely enough food for two to share. The desserts are likely the most underrated here. We only got a Pumpkin pie, but I was really impressed by the flavor and texture. It was surprisingly sweet, flavorful, and aromatic yet not as heavy as I would expect for a dessert. I would definitely go back to try the other desserts if I was in the area!
Local Upper West Side Greek restaurant with plenty of charm. Reservations are a must unless you go after 8 on a weekday. Food is good, flavorful and the portions are big. Nice outdoor seating especially if the weather cooperates. Inside seating has a warm ambience. Great food, reasonably priced a winner in my book!!!
Ate dinner here for Valentine’s Day with my husband. The host got into an argument with a server about table arrangements while we were being seated, so there was an awkward two minutes where we were standing in the middle of the restaurant watching the argument. Once we were seated, our server was very attentive and the person bussing our table was excellent. The fried calamari was pretty rubbery (needed less time in the fryer), but we finished it because we were starving. My husband loved the chicken soup and the pasta with meat sauce, and the beef patties with lemon potatoes that I ordered were pretty good. The chocolate lava cake we split for dessert was very yummy. Overall, a pretty good meal once we were seated. I’ll probably come back and try some different menu items. I could tell based on the clientele that lots of people are happy to have a Mediterranean spot in the area.
Went in for the first time hoping for something special. It wasn’t special but rather pretty good. Mu first problem was the 20 dollar semi martini. I’ll pay the price but am troubled by a half filled glass. Ordered a second. One full Martini, thirty eight bucks. Ouch! The food was good but only so. I will return and give it a second chance. The service was top notch.
We had a wonderful rehearsal dinner at Telio! The was expertly prepared and tastes great! There was plenty and everyone left full. The staff was warm and hospitable and our family felt welcome. I highly recommend Telio for dinner or an event. Rita and her team will not disappoint!
High prices for average food and small servings. The first sign was the pita bread tasting like microwavable food, stiff and not even warm. This is a Greek spot and you can’t even serve fluffy, warm pita?? Then the hummus and other spreads were barely flavorful. The hummus wasn’t even a soft, decadent creamy spread. They also charged our table for extra pita without telling us… This place has a nice ambience but the food was soooooo bland and mid. It actually tasted like they microwaved half of it and brought it out. Nothing came out piping hot or flavorful. I expect so much more from a Greek spot. Save your money and your time and go elsewhere.
