Amazing atmosphere and eclectic arts. The pizza was to die for. Wonderful family atmosphere it is a family owned business. I met the daughter. She was very gracious! love all the art in the place and the food is delicious. I tried the cappuccino. The cannoli is wonderful and the pizza. I got the classic New Yorker with pepperoni it melted in my mouth, the crust was amazing, including the pasta with egg noodles with Ragu steak it was clearly amazing from start to finish, I paired my food with a grapefruit juice and sparkling water. The entire meal was so memorable! I will be back certainly.
Absolutely wonderful experience! Excellent staff and the pizzas are incredible! Main dishes are also very very good
We recently hosted my husband's surprise 40th birthday party at Sono Wood Fired for about 45 guests, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The owner, Bes, was an absolute pleasure to work with — professional, accommodating, and genuinely invested in making the afternoon special. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything ran smoothly. And the food? Absolutely delicious. The variety of pizzas was a hit, and people couldn’t stop talking about the mac & cheese and wings — both were standout favorites. Everyone left full, happy, and already planning their next visit. I would highly recommend Sono Wood Fired for any gathering or night out, and I’d absolutely host an event here again. Thank you to Bes and the entire team for making it such a memorable celebration!
Love this place! It’s our new favorite pizza place in the area! The service and the friendly staff really make the whole experience enjoyable. We got the mozzarella sticks (which are HUGE and amazing) the Blanco Pizza and the New Yorker and we’re so impressed. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the Norwalk area!! The drinks are beautiful and taste delicious. Try anything on the menu and you won’t be disappointed!!!!
Recommended to everyone, everywhere. This is a hidden gem! The atmosphere is amazing, very welcoming. There's a giant wood fire oven to the right that brings a warm ambiance to the place. I ordered the Clams Rockefeller special. It was delightfully flavorful, with a light spinach and cream sauce. The sauce reduction was perfection, not too thick, not to runny! Don't forget to sprinkle the lemon, it complimented the clams so well! The very thin and light crumb on top added an extra crunch! I eat slow, can you believe i ate those babies under 4 minutes? every bite was even better than the previous one. I also ordered the Lady Cluck Panini. The menu is filled with puns that really compliments the friendly environment of the servers. Fries were great, not greasy and not overly cooked. Soft and warm when I received them. The chicken cutlet was soft and juicy, very thingy crusted, 100% respect to the chef for giving me a good portion of meat in my sandwich. My whole experience was a delight. It's literally a great place to eat, and great place to go and eat again. Definitely try it out, many times! 10/10!
Definitely best pizza I have ever had and I been to the greats, Pepes and Sally's and they can't touch this. Just awesome!! It's that kind of pizza when you open the box u know that u are in for a real treat. Great job and staff very polite and welcoming. Got the bacon pizza and pepperoni. Can't wait to try the pasta that is baked in wood oven.
Stopped here because I'm always searching for really good pizza and Sono wood fire did not disappoint. The wood fired pizza was cooked perfectly. The crust was a light and a little chewy. The pizza was very thin with a nice sauce and fresh mozzarella. The wood fired meatballs were very flavorful and went great with the pizza. Update 8/8/23 - excellent meal! Tried the short ribs and risotto. Amazing! My new favorite dish.
What an incredible experience. Having been a salesman for one of the best Italian food distribution companies in the tri-state area, my reviews on Italian restaurants come with a background of knowing what the very best Italian restaurant's have to offer in the most competitive Italian food scene outside of Italy. My experience at SoNo Wood Fired was nothing short of incredible. My date and I had the table located next to the window with a view of the street outside of the Restauant, while experiencing the calm, family oriented atmosphere inside. As an appetizer, we ordered the meatballs. The tomato sauce is composed of the best canned tomatoes available on the market, Bianco Dinapoli, the cans are shown on the chefs counter as a testament to the quality of ingredients used in their dishes. These tomatoes are sourced from a small farm in California and I’ve only known the best restaurants in New York City to use them, as you really have to be in the know to have such excellent, quality tomatoes. They also use local Connecticut mozzarella, a company known as Luizzi, and on other dishes the owner also confessed to using some of their other excellent products such as their Bufala Mozzarella which is also stunningly delicious and can be enjoyed all on its own. For our main dishes we had the rigatoni bolognese, the Calabrese pizza, and the chicken scarpariello. Each one was absolutely incredible in its own unique way. The rigatoni was a high quality pasta, flavorful bolognese sauce which has the perfect mixture of meat and sauce. The Calabrese pizza has chunks of fresh mozzarella, fior di latte, with slices of salumi, and homemade hot honey. The owner explained the process of making the homemade hot honey which gave a flavor profile to the pizza that’s been unparalleled to anything alike. I’ve had a lot of pizza, and this was simply amazing. It is in my top three favorite pizza’s I have ever had. The chicken scarp was beautifully presented. The chicken was cooked to perfection, it was a hefty piece of meat that was tender and juicy. Chicken, potatoes, peppers, and sausage and more were all cooked together to create a satisfying dish. I rarely leave reviews for restaurants, I do when I believe a restaurant is doing something special. Something unique. SoNo Wood Fired has to be my favorite dining experience in South Norwalk, by a long shot. Everything from the amazing service, the incredible dishes, and the great atmosphere, I’d be crazy not to recommend this to everyone I know who appreciates a great dining experience and excellent food. I can’t wait to come back <3.
Wonderful place. The food was amazing, starting with calamari, pasta, French fries, and the pizza, of course. The service was outstanding, and the young lady who served our fam. certainly were able to maintain the bar and provide great service was impressive. Our little ones enjoyed the food, and we certainly recommend this place for anyone visiting the Acquarium. Clean place, and was quite amused by the picture in the restroom of Decaprio. Awesome.
Outstanding addition to SoNo! It was truly an honor to dine in on their opening night. Fantastic food from a wide array of appetizers, pastas, and of course, their wood fired pizzas. Chef and Owner Besar came out to greet our table and the smile on his face said it all. Give Sono Wood Fired Pizza a shot, the pictures definitely speak for themselves!
I have not been able to say this in a long time......THIS PLACE IS THE REAL DEAL!!! I had the best Napolitana pizza I've had since I was stationed in Napoli! The respect and love for the Italian tradition is apparent! The food, staff, ambiance; everything is on point! I look forward to coming back to try the whole menu!!!
Great staff, great food. Definitely a great spot for date night!
Sono Wood Fire Pizza is an absolute gem in the world of pizza dining. From the moment I walked in, I knew I was in for a treat. The pizza is simply outstanding; it's hard to put into words how incredibly delicious each slice was. The combination of their wood-fired cooking method and the use of fresh, high-quality ingredients results in a taste that's truly exceptional. But it's not just about the food; it's the entire experience. The customer service is impeccable. The staff is warm, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about their craft. They are knowledgeable and eager to help you make the perfect pizza selection. The cozy and inviting ambiance further adds to the charm of Sono Wood Fire Pizza. It's a place where you can enjoy great food in a comfortable setting. In short, if you're a pizza enthusiast or just someone who appreciates fantastic food and exceptional service, Sono Wood Fire Pizza is a must-visit. I can't recommend it enough, and I'll be returning for more of their delectable pizzas in the near future.
Great experience at SONO Wood Fired! Pizza was perfect and so many to choose from with fresh bread and delicious muscles. The owner makes you feel at home, it’s so cozy and comfortable. I’m happy this place opened and will be going back soon.
I loved the service and ambiance. I love spicy food, but it wasn't to my taste, I would love hot sauce options on the side, though the had spicy honey and chili flakes but that didn't do it for me. But in general i would come back
We chose Sono Wood Fired Pizza to celebrate my wife's birthday, and it was an excellent choice. The attention is unmatched, the food is super delicious and everything is very clean and sanitized. We all had a very good time out there. We recommend them 100%. Thank you guys (Sono Wood Fire Pizza)for making this day unforgettable.
Food was off the charts imaginative and tasted so sophisticated I can’t say enough. Now if you are gluten intolerant they import their flour from Europe so it is safe for pizza lovers Go for it and you will be thrilled as I Am.
Great place to catch up with friends. It's cozy, pretty quiet but everyone is very friendly there. Food is amazing and the manager/owner made my friend and I feel right at home!
I had the pizza and my wife pasta. Nice eclectic offerings with good execution. The owner came be to make sure we were pleased, nice personal touch.
We stopped here to grab lunch at this cute place on our way back home. The atmosphere & deco is amazing. They have wide selection of drinks. And the food was just delicious 😋. Fresh pizza made with, real ingredients. The beet salad was soo great. 5 star ⭐️
Everything about our lunch here was phenomenal. The owner himself gave us recommendations and you can tell they put so much care into their dishes, service, and experience. Highlights include the salmon wit saffron risotto and the Norma pizza. The pizza deserves every award out there. It had thick mozzarella, an incredible crust, fried oregano leaves, and basil leaves tucked under it all. 100/10.
Is our wedding aniversary. We choose to go celebrate having dinner at this restaurant. It was our first time visiting the place. The welcoming was very pleasant. Everyone make us feel like we was family. Jacquie was our waitress. She was excellent, very atentive, and sweet. The atmosphere, the music, the decoration in one word, perfect. The food tasty, fresh. Drinks, original, unique, exquisite. The whole experience was remarkable. We definetly comming back.
Sono provides a warm, rustic ambience that sets the tone for a relaxing and enjoyable evening. Our space felt cozy and inviting. Whether you're coming in with a group or just looking for a quiet table for two, you’ll find a comfortable spot. The layout is spacious without feeling empty with a perfect balance between privacy and atmosphere. The food is absolutely delicious. The ingredients were fresh, the presentation was thoughtful, and the flavors were perfectly balanced. From the appetizers to the mains, everything was clearly prepared with care and skill. Overall, this restaurant is a gem for anyone who enjoys a relaxed setting and seriously good food. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, it’s well worth a visit.
If you happen to be in Norwalk, CT and you're craving Italian food, this place is a must-try. I know I should have tried the pizza, but I just wasn’t in the mood for it at the time. Here’s my take: everyone was friendly, and we were warmly greeted upon arrival. The space was bright, clean, and inviting—not to mention, the restroom was exceptionally clean. That said, it seemed the holiday staffing shortage affected service, particularly with how long it took for the food to arrive. It took about 30 to 45 minutes, but once it came, it was well worth the wait. Unlike many Italian restaurants, they don’t offer complimentary bread, but that was fine—we didn’t need to fill up before the meal. The dishes were flavorful and fabulous—not overly salty or greasy like some Italian food can be. They used real, fresh clams—not canned—and the tuna was cooked to perfection and as fresh as any I’ve had. The whole family really enjoyed the experience and had a great time. It’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area, and I’ll absolutely be back next time I’m around.
The food was as good as expected. There were a lot of parking meters outside. It seemed to have free 15 min parking just for to-go order pick up. We dined in for about one hour, and it’s enough time. The pizza and wings were good. My seafood medley was very tasty. The squid ink pasta just tasted like pasta, but I was glad that I tried it so I wouldn’t need to wonder.
The food was amazing. Pizzas were fresh and perfect. The calamari was one of the best we have tried. Oysters were fresh. Love this place.
Great experience all around. Kind attentive staff and top notch food. My fav style of pizza and the best Caesar I’ve had in forever!
Food and servers were amazing! Definitely going back! Unfortunately between the loud music and other people having conversations, it was too loud inside to enjoy conversation with each other. We felt like we had to yell over each other just to be heard. So we may start ordering food to go and find somewhere else to sit and each.
Go, go, go! As you can see from the pictures, the food was outstanding. Not only that but our server, Shelly, was top notch. Shelly is a keeper and if I owned a restaurant she would be the head of hospitality. Oh my I forgot to mention the cocktails..Lemon Sorbet, Cookies and Cream Espresso, and the Black Cherry Manhattan...amazing! Highly recommend!
Surprisingly good find. We stopped on as it was the only thing open for Sunday lunch. Everything was good but their speck on their pizza is cut too thickly or has a dry edge that made it very hard to chew
We came here for a family lunch to celebrate my son’s birthday, and it turned out to be such a memorable experience! My son is fascinated by how pizza is made, and the owner, Bes, went above and beyond—he kindly invited him into the kitchen and showed him how to make pizza the right way. Watching my son create his own pizza, guided by someone so passionate and kind, was truly special. The food was absolutely delicious, and the entire staff was warm, welcoming, and attentive. Highly recommend this place for both the amazing hospitality and the fantastic food!
Handled seventy of us seamlessly! Delicious food, table served all together. No one waited for food. Servers were all very friendly and kind. Cool decor, kid friendly. Easy parking validation. 10/10
Let me get the obvious out of the way. The food is phenomenal. My wife had a margarita pizza. I had the lady cluck Panini and our daughter had the mac & cheese. All three were absolutely fantastic and blew away expectations. Weight staff was very kind and helpful with their recommendations and finally above all there was that old-school charm where the owner came up introduced himself made sure the food was to our standards. I cannot recommend this place enough. We came here on a whim and we will be back . as long-term customers.
We decided to have our studio holiday party at Sono Wood Fired and we couldn't have been happier with the outcome. The owner was extremely communicative during the booking process and was able to accommodate our specific needs. The food was ready to go as the party started and there was no delay. Hands down the best calamari I've ever had!!! It's a must. We will for sure be coming back!
We were visiting the area and this was the perfect dinner spot. After eating at SoNo I really wish we lived closer! Terrific service from the start. We walked in they took out license plate number for the back lot to make sure we’d be good on parking. Sat us right away, gave us time to think about drinks and apps. We asked the waitress for her favorites and appreciated her insight on her favorites. We ordered drinks, apps, pizza, pasta dishes and I can honestly say all 4 of us left full and happy. They hit the mark in every way possible. The owner thanked us for coming as we left which I felt was a really nice touch. I hope we get back to SoNo Wood Fired again soon.
We visited from out of town and are so glad we did. We brought our 1 year old who was not in the best spirits after ordering. We asked if we could have our order to go and our server Shelly was so accommodating and gracious. She brought us bread while we waited and luckily our little one turned it around. She put all our to-go food back in dishes and was just so chill about the whole thing. Also the food was absolutely delicious. Very grateful for the welcoming atmosphere and kind service. Thanks so much.
Best wood fired pizza in Norwalk. Excellent drinks. Small but comfortable dining room well designed. Park in the back behind the building there’s a big parking lot for free.
I recently ordered Sono Wood Fired catering for a family party. The food was amazing, many guests commenting on how delicious their pasta was. The restaurant went above and beyond with delivering the order to us. We will definitely use them again & dine-in when we can.
Food was amazing! Pizza was super fresh! S’mores are a MUST! Our waiter was awesome and gave great recs, and the owner was also great explaining all the dishes I had questions about. Everything we tried was incredible and will definitely return !
Always great! Ours family's go to spot. The whole team is great. Pizza is awesome and the other menu items never disappoint
My family stumbled in here today and we are so happy that we did! The food and service were excellent. Everything we ordered was delicious, our picky two year old ate her entire meal. We will 100% be back, and soon!
I am so glad we stumbled upon Sono on our trip to Norwalk…some of the best Italian food we’ve eaten in the U.S. I’m a vegetarian and my experience was incredible, with the freshest and highest quality ingredients. (We knew it would be good when the owner showed us the specials and said he’d created the recipe himself that weekend, with fresh local mushrooms no less). He says the menu rotates seasonally and by guest taste, a testament to this team’s love of food and authentic Italian cuisine. (Seriously, the wood-fired pizza flour is imported from Napoli!!) Thank you Sono Wood Fired 🤗
Large space with a good vibe. Nice bar area with ample seating. The margherita pizza was very good - could have used more chew on the crust, but nonetheless very good. Very enjoyable fig and strawberry salad complimented the pizza. The fire-roasted peppers in cheese was interesting but also very good along with the well-made, nice tasting focaccia - more peppers please. The wine although good, was served too warm. I recommend this place for a good wood-fired pizza.
Decided to swing in last minute and were pleasantly surprised. The wood fire being their specialty brings a fine cuisine that we both enjoyed. The atmosphere was beautiful without a doubt. My husband ordered a NY style pizza with pepperoni for himself while I went with a classic Caesar salad with grilled chicken. The chicken was delightful- it had a smoky crisp flavor however the salad was not my favorite due to the dressing- it was much more anchovy tasting than I like, and I specifically ordered the salad without the anchovies. My husband loved his pizza, the dough was crisp, light, and airy, with an incredible wood fired taste.
Went here last night for my birthday dinner with family. Pizza drinks and the s’mores dessert was good, but all the other food was on the blander side. The best part was our server Mario, really took care of us and was super funny, he provided great service.
Upon arrival, the restaurant was clean, warm, and inviting. Although the place was empty, it took a few minutes before a server came to seat us. The food was enjoyable and reasonably priced. With some improvements to the attentiveness and efficiency of the service, the overall experience could be much better. I was with my two children’s and they don’t have a kids menu .
I highly dislike leaving bad reviews but this one needs to be read. We ordered catering for my son's birthday for 40ppl and were very clear that pizza needs to be delivered at a certain time as we were only granted 1h for lunch by the venue. Not only that th delivery came at 11:45 vs 11:15 as requested, the pizza was burnt and there were holes in it. It was the first time we were celebrating my son's birthday with his daycare friends and I felt so embarrassed not having things properly scheduled. Really disappointed.
Pizza was so soggy and watery. Asked to put burrata on the pizza and they melted it like mozzarella. And forgot to put half the sauce on margherita. No salt no tomato and melted burrata on wet dough. Good ambiance but not worth the price.
This is not a good pizza at all , i am from Italy and i know how a pizza has to be , tomato sauce is watery , and without any flavor for sure not SAN MARZANO , mozzarella they put 2 or 3 pieces, when you take a slice everything falls off , is terrible ! The only decent thing is the dough , but even that is not salted. Don’t be fooled by the pictures. Definitely not approved ! ✋
My family and I love pizza, especially wood fired pizza. This pizza was actually very poor. Tasteless, undercooked, and the pizza slice sags. Four pizza pro's and all of us agreed its poor pizza.
