Amazing. The food was gorgeous. Service was quick and staff were friendly. The decor was rustic modern vibes, very nice low lightning. I would definitely recommend it to everyone, if in Nottingham.

1st time here and won't be the last, food was superb and service was very good too. Wife had Philly cheese burger, they gave her the option of doubling up,she's glad she didn't,it was massive and packed with filling,it was gorgeous. I had the juicy Lucy sandwich, also packed with filling and bloody lovely it was,we both had the fries which are coated and really tasty. We both had dessert too,I had chocolate fudge brownie and the wife had caramel cheesecake (which was huge) both were really nice too.We had Elizabeth serve us and she was really nice. Definitely going back to try other delights and will highly recommend.

Wow! This place is absolutely amazing! I would definitely recommend this restaurant/bar to everyone. The food is delicious, the drinks are great, the prices are excellent, and the quality is top notch. Honestly, the best burger I've had in months. The manager, Delma, was our server and she was fantastic. She was so friendly and chatty, she made our night infinitely better. The music was a good vibe and the toilets were clean. A perfect place to hang out and grab food and drinks with friends.

What a find! All things American here, including INCREDIBLE burgers. We had the hickory and the rodeo burgers, very good. Oh and the burnt end mash is 👌 Great decor, great atmosphere (country music ftw). Topped off with excellent service from Kaylah (thank you!). Highly recommend.

I recommend avoiding this place if you don't want to cry that it's over, every moment of your life after it's finished. Having eaten BBQ food in many different countries and many different venues, I can't think of a place that comes close to this. I am a keen barbecuer and appreciate the hard work and technique required to make food this good on the grill, the flavours were outstanding and so was the tenderness. On a serious note, if you're thinking about going here just stop thinking about it and just do it. We had the New York platter, it was absolutely delicious. The prices seem high at first glance but it's clear the quality of food is reflected in that. Well done Red Dog, will be back to see you again 👏👏

Amazing food and great service. Not many places that you can get a pink in the middle burger but these are so succulent and juicy! Full of flavour and really soft buns. The red dog beer is actually quite nice also, has a fruity twist to it. Staff are very efficient and keen to please. Highly recommend anyone who loves burgers to try this place.

Me and my boyfriend eat here last night, and WOW definitely wasn't disappointed. The food was amazing and could not fault anything about it, the meat was cooked to perfection.....the service was great, Lizzie was our host for the evening. She was friendly and very helpful. Despite some bad reviews, I'd definitely try this place as it was amazing.

First time visit, was heading to brewdog but didn't realise how small it was (be warned, I'd strongly recommend reserving - I've never had to do this at other brewdogs...)- anyway no space on a Saturday afternoon (3pm), so went round corner to Red Dog - a good call... Service was excellent, quick, and professional. Staff helped with portion sizes which was good so we didn't end up over ordering. Great burgers, sides also good. Top tip if you go for a burger I'd suggest you only need 1 side between 2 people. Bill came to around £30 each incl. alcoholic drinks so about par these days. Would I go back, yes. Recommended 👍

We got 2 of the Kentucky platters, 1 Oregon platter and 2 plates. I kid you not, when I say this food blew us all away. We are all big eaters and very much prefer American style food over anything. This is by far the best we have experienced. 3.5 hours after eating we were all regularly groaning for being so full and satisfied. The taste of these dishes was unrivalled. Definitely returning.

We love Red Dog Saloon! The burgers are authentic American Texas BBQ with generous portions, perfect for those who enjoy a hearty meal. While the prices are higher than most burger joints, the cost is justified by the portion size and exceptional quality. The restaurant itself has a charming ambiance, with dimmed lighting and decor reminiscent of an old saloon, making it a lovely place to dine.

We eat here almost every weekend. The food has never been bad! Very good selection of burgers and the platters are amazing! One downside is that more Often than not, they run out of a lot of the platter items. Especially their pulled meats. So you’re forced to get something else. Also sadly, the toilets are very poorly maintained. I’ve walked in there and the floor has been covered in sick and both toilets have been clogged up. Such a shame for a really nice place! I would definitely recommend the food there, but the cleanliness and facilities leave a lot to be desired.

Had my friends birthday dinner here, we asked for a birthday surprise and they brought out a brownie with a candle for him which was a lovely gesture. The service was excellent, milkshake & the food was too die for, those peanut butter burgers are a must try! The wait time was super quick for 7 people ordering, we were surprised. We will be back again thank you guys.

We saw this place on TikTok and the food looked amazing! Plenty of choice for burgers. We traveled almost an hour and it was totally worth it. We were served by lovely Rosie. The whole place was beautiful and there was live entertainment due to start later that night. Highly recommend this place.

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Red Dog branch in Nottingham, and from the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality. The staff promptly showed us to our table, making us feel right at home. After browsing the menu, we decided to go for the Oklahoma platter—a fantastic choice for anyone looking to sample a variety of meats. I paired my meal with a refreshing beer, while my wife opted for a glass of wine. As we waited for our food, I took a moment to appreciate the decor. The venue is beautifully adorned with unique wall art, creating an inviting atmosphere that transports you to a Wild West setting. When our food arrived, it was nothing short of spectacular. Each item on the platter was cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. The portion size was ideal for two people to share, and I can confidently say that I would order this again without hesitation. Overall, the service, the ambiance, and the food were all spot on. If you haven’t had the chance to visit Red Dog yet, I highly recommend giving it a try. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed!

We were the first customer of the day as they'd just opened. First time eating at the Red Dog Saloon but I'd definitely go back. Food came out fairly quick and was hot and fresh. The manager was friendly and attentive but not intrusive.

Food service and atmosphere was amazing. My husband was loving the platter - meat lovers heaven!! Great spot in Notts. A bit on the pricey side but if you don’t mind - Would recommend!

Ate here today and the food was delicious. Had the Cronos burger which was massive and full of different meat cuts. Staff were attentive and very helpful with recommendations. Would have been a 5 Star review, however I think having a tip option on top of already paying a 10% service charge was a bit sneaky.

Good BBQ restaurant in the centre of town. Quiet when I went however the service was friendly and attentive. Went for the chicken wings for starters which we’re tasty with the blue cheese sauce. The meat platter was amazing. The pork ribs were tender and melting of the bone. The beef brisket was also very good and I didn’t have to pay a supplement to have them. Definitely would recommend if you’re looking for a causal BBQ restaurant. Will be back for more!

Red Dog Saloon! I will say this is our second time attending and both times we've enjoyed ourselves and the food thoroughly. This time it was the "When Bouffalant met Patricia" burger for me and "Juicy Lucy" sandwich for her, topped with a "Chicken Bacon Ranch" loaded fries for us both. The vibe in this place is great, the food is top too with our only gripe being the sausage in the "Juicy Lucy" burger had gristle in it, but the taste was amazing, worth ordering again!

Food was really good but pricey . It was very quite on a Tuesday night but actually felt like you were in a saloon. Brisket in burger was delicious!

Loved this venue, the ribs were incredible. The staff were lovely, very friendly, but at times felt a bit too attentive. Constantly asking to take plates/dishes away during the meal and asking if we were enjoying the food. Sometimes you just want to enjoy the meal on your own. Loved the ambience.

Really liked when I saw online. This was my suggestion for a small group of friends. The staff were amazing and attentive. Food was really nice. Only reason I gave 4* is bill was £130 without alcohol. Half only had water, 2 starters, and 2 sides for the table.

A place with a lot of ‘hype’… We were really excited about our visit to Red Dog. Sadly it didn’t turn out to be what we expected. The best part of Red Dog Saloon is the service. That’s it. The service is great, friendly, welcoming and professional. I was really looking forward to my food. It was great don’t get me wrong but when your averaging £40 for burgers and fries, it’s seems extortionate. As some of the reviews do say, there are plenty of other options available in the area. Red Dog is a good option, but by far not, the best, option. The drinks however are very reasonably priced. There is ample Parking in the local area however this can cost a bit if you go above 4 hours. Thanks for my first - and most probably last - Red Dog Saloon experience. 💫

It wasn't bad for what it was but absolutely nothing to shout about. We had a sharing platter between us, and it was okay at best, brisket was nice, burger was good, but the rest was not worth the price paid. The food was warm not piping hot and lost temperature very quickly. Other than the guy who was serving us, all the other staff looked absolutely miserable, like they didn't want to be there, which certainly didn't justify the 10% service charge at the end of the bill that's added on. My view is if you are looking for a smoke house this is okay, there are certainly better ones and if you are wanting a decent meal there are plenty of other places you can go that will give you a better meal for the price point.

Sadly a disappointing visit, this place had everything I wanted on paper but failed to deliver in reality. Wait time for food was fairly long (~50 minutes) this would have been fine if the portion size that came was reflective of the price. I felt the amount of food for somewhere billed as an American BBQ was really quite meager, for £25 a single sausage, pork rib and couple slices of brisket isn't representative of value for money. The sausage was fine, the pork rib and brisket slices were actually very tasty with the brisket being moist and flaky. Shame on the portion size and wait time, shall be trying other places instead of here.

J
Jade Baxter

Got a platter for 3 and it looked like it was for 2 and they added an extra sausage, for the money you don’t get a lot of meat. Frozen custard malt shakes were yummy though, wouldn’t go back soon as too expensive for mediocre portions.

Dale Cross

I've been meaning to visit this place on numerous occasions and finally found the time. I was not disappointed with the food. I had a feeling that the portions were going to be large, but I wasn't prepared for the amount of food I received. The flavour of the the food was excellent and everything on the plate had it's own unique taste, nothing was bland, just full of flavour. I have a hefty appetite, but couldn't finish what I ordered, so a high recommendation to share some plates. I only have a couple of issues on my visit. The first being the the price of the drinks, which, had I known the size of them, would not have ordered. I think it's extortionate to charge nearly £4 each for not even a full can of coke and lemonade. Additionally, upon returning home and checking the receipt, we were charged for a portion of fries. The meal my wife ordered came with fries or onion rings, and she chose fries, but only one portion was brought to the table. Finally, the 10% service charge tagged on to the bill makes it unlikely for me to return. I do think the food is great and there're some flavours you don't find everywhere in Nottingham, but some prices are far too high and additional charges do not make it any cheaper.

B
Brian Milne

Food was good it was very expensive. £4.50 for a coke. The menu was confusing with two prices on it with no explanation. One of our party ordered a combo and was not told the £29.50 price was per person the combo was for 2 people so he got a bill for £60. All in all not a bad meal but I won't go back

Red Dog Saloon: Southern BBQ with a Sports Bar Vibe in Nottingham As Texans who know and love authentic slow-smoked barbecue, we were keen to check out Red Dog Saloon, which bills itself as Nottingham's premium spot for American BBQ. Located conveniently near Victoria Street, it definitely delivers on the atmosphere—it’s a lively, well-stocked sports bar with screens throughout. They enhance the experience further with a live band playing Saturday nights from 9 PM 'til late, making it a great place to settle in to watch the footy or grab a quick bite. We ordered the pickled, fried okra and a brisket basket with onion rings to get a true taste of the Southern menu. The star of the meal was absolutely the okra; it was perfectly fresh, hot, and crunchy—a fantastic starter and well-executed Southern classic. The main event, the slow-smoked brisket, was a bit of a mixed bag. While the meat was flavorful, which is the most important part, we found it to be bit tough. We noticed it seemed to be cut with the grain, resulting in a noticeably rough, chewy texture. This prevented it from achieving the melt-in-your-mouth experience we associate with high-end Texas BBQ. The onion rings also had a minor issue: they were good overall, but the prep suffered slightly as the outer peel was still attached and should have been removed. Ultimately, Red Dog Saloon is a solid choice for American classics like ground-in-house burgers and Nashville hot wings in a fun, comfortable setting. It’s a great venue for a craft beer, live music, and a decent plate of food if you're refueling after shopping or catching a game, but those expecting a flawless, competition-level Texas brisket might need to slightly adjust their expectations. Verdict: Great sports bar atmosphere with live music on Saturdays and excellent fried okra. The brisket flavor is there, but the texture was compromised by being cut with the grain.

We went for my daughters 21st birthday we ordered a platter for 2, wasn’t worth £90 we then ordered a sandwich and 3 sides we had 3 soft drinks the bill came to £164 the staff were nice but rushing around like their life depended on it and there were only 4 tables to wait, so much so my husband stood up from the booth and a waitress bumped into the back of him with hands full of food, 1 plate went on the floor. The table next to us then kept making loud comments about how it was my husband falt, which it wasn’t, we drove for a hour to get there and this ruined our dining experience. The brisket was the only thing to write home about and we got 4 little slices.

So me and my friends went to this place as a birthday dinner surprise for our friend and overall the experience was okay. First of all, the pricing at this place is ridiculously expensive especially for students, I understand with the sizing and quality of the food it makes sense, however something that was rather dogy to me was the fact on their menu, the shared platter price was not fixed to the complete price, instead they've put the price requirement PER PERSON (minimum of 2 people), so instead of the platter being priced at £34, as shown on the menu, it was ACTUALLY £68! And that's just for 2 people!! Usually with shared platters there should be some sort of bargain, this was not. Moreover, disappointedly that night they so happened to have run out of brisket...which was something we were really looking forward to and limited almost half of the menu as a majority of food items consisted of brisket. Although the food was good, especially the burgers were very flavourful and juicy! The pricing was not acceptable, especially the fact that one of my friends was charged EXTRA for chips after paying 16 quid for 3 pieces of chicken... The rib was huge but quite dry and very salty, the wings sauce was too lemony and bitter, the mash was not enough for 2 people but was delicious! Since it was so expensive me and 2 other friends (3) shared the 2 people platter and still had ended up paying around nearly 30 quid EACH! This place is not student friendly (no discounts), the only thing maybe worthwhile getting is the burgers, this place is too expensive otherwise for anyone to be able to enjoy.

Arrived before 5pm and if you like football it's the place for you! Big screen TV with the sound played everywhere, even in the toilets. Service was relatively quick but we were the first in. Milkshake was fab and some of the meats on the platter were incredible, especially the juicy melt in your mouth brisket and burnt end pork belly. Unfortunately the burgers that were part of the New York platter just didn't do it for me. Mine was dry and the bacon was more than salty. Would I revisit, yes! But I'd choose meats only as they were fantastic. There's a 12.5% discretionary service charge which considering the price of the food is over the top

Have been to this place many times over the years and it's very inconsistent. The meat often has potential but how it comes out depends on who they have in the kitchen on the day. Sometimes the food is 9/10 sometimes its a 5/10. Tried the new breakfast recently.. meat very oily, eggs not cooked enough etc, unfortunately wont return for a while. One positive is that the portion sizes are great.

T
Tracy Bonner

The food was nice, although I would have expected more than just the burger and fries for the price, they just made the plate look big by the amount of fries that were on the plate. If you wanted anything else it was extra. Staff were very friendly and helpful. But I just cant justify the price to go again.

j
john giannopoulos

Ordered the £25 beef rib. Gotta say it was as tough as a pair of old boots. I couldn't cut it with the knife let alone bite it. I didn't want to complain so I continued to try chewing it but couldn't swallow much of it. I expected it to fall off the bone. The waitress came to ask us if all was good, I told her the rib was very tough to which she replied, "it can vary from piece to piece, possibly left smoking too long" Ok, I don't think I'll be back. My wife's brisket was nice and the onion rings were possibly the best I've had anywhere. But the star of the show, the rib on the bone was nothing but a let down.

M

The Red Dog Saloon, but not Dog friendly. We had a dog with us, but too bad... we were not welcome in the restaurant. The lady inside was very friendly until she saw that we were sitting outside with our furry friend. Her mood turned directly. The hamburgers and fries were delicious, but we had to finish it very quickly because of the rain. We were soaked and there was no one who asked if we were ok. We would come back if the staff was more friendly!

A
Andrew Smith

Went last week and for some reason they had decided to throw a staff party and leave 2 staff to run the entire front of house. Not blaming them entirely because it's an impossible task, I'm blaming whoever decided this was a good idea. Just close the restaurant and take everyone to the party. Entire experience was ruined, cold food, wrong food, no drinks, long wait. The waitress gave us one meal for free which I appreciate, didn't get her name but she was amazing. The manager or whoever was on the bar didn't look like he was trying at all. Just stood around all night and occasionally made a drink, didn't help clearing tables, taking orders or anything.

D
Dan Whitt

Burger was ok but rib eye steak and pancetta that came it were fatty and hard to chew. Chips were good but very salty. BBQ sauce is way too vinegary. Platter for 2 people, £35 each, served with 2 bits of toast and no fries?! Underwhelming, would not return.

J
Jayne Sampat

Food took a long time to arrive, even for a quiet Sunday. The food was underwhelming for the price to say the least. No BBQ flavour, very dry. We were left with no cutlery and my drink was wrong, these things were quickly rectified. Would not return because the price point does not match the food quality. Also the football was on fairly loudly, not sure if that's just a Sunday thing.

B

There is nothing BBQ about this place! Me and my partner visited today in the afternoon , we ordered a burger each thinking that like every other restaurant, would come with fries or a side atleast! But it didn't! Just a tiny burger on its own. Also , the bar taps were needing repair so we couldn't get a drink of corona as requested. We were very disappointed, it's absolutely shocking we have to pay nearly £16 for just a burger alone that was the size of a cheeseburger at McDonald's!!! The burger was tasteless , the mac & cheese wasn't nice and the fries were shocking. Burgers at McDonald's are bigger and a hell of a lot cheaper and taste better! We won't be coming again. We told the staff we really wasn't happy with our food and they just laughed it off! £60 of wasted money for 4 items! Don't waste your time or money on this place.

K
Kimberley Keiller

Waited over 45 minutes for our food and had an extra drink added to our bill. Its also really dark inside which made it difficult to read the menu. £90 for 3 mediocre meals (at best) Wouldn't recommend or return.

P
Paul Akpan

Food was salty, the waiters forgot to get my iced tea and even once I got it it was a pint of flavoured water basically. Ordered the most expensive meal on the menu and was just a giant platter of meat that was slathered in salt but with mild flavour. Empanadas, mozzarella sticks, and ribs were good though.

T
Tom Reah

Welcomed well by waitress, seated and drinks served. At this point was informed all of the smoke house meat was gone and only burgers were available. Friday evening, wasn’t really busy, believe they should plan better for food arrangement or at least offer some sort of complimentary discount for the inconvenience or simply just inform on arrival before ordering drinks. Sam the manager was accommodating but lacked any empathy and didn’t seem very interested. Lost confidence in eating there and left. 5th Sept.

I have been coming to Red Dog for years now. The quality of food has always been alright, but the price has been fair. This time however, the cost of the chicken tenders has almost doubled and the quality has decreased. The portion are also much smaller than before. It's a shame, as this was always a go to for me. Way to expensive for what it is. Will not be going back any time soon.

B
Bruce Wayne

Absolutely overrated tosh never again... The price of average American bbq Diner cuisine which is exactly what this is in it's entirety..?!? It's just way way to expensive. Save your money is my suggestion some of the McDonald's burgers are far more appetising.

Nottingham branch: The food, venue and hospitality (verging on racist) was so bad that I even begrudge writing a review! Food: 2 cold, slices of unseasoned meat, coleslaw and overly salty, limp fries - £25.00 PLUS an uncooked frozen beyond meat burger and overly salty limp fries - £18.75… AND this is not an exaggeration!! I had to leave my food, as was inedible HOWEVER, the tiny bit I did eat left a horrible coating on my tongue and me feeling sick! Additionally, the menu did not list all the food on the plate, so we did not know that coleslaw came with a dish, so ended up with extra, which we’d ordered - you’d think the waitress would have warned us! Even though we had a booking, we were seated facing the stage, beside the front door (on a really cold and windy night) even though there were other tables available! The manager said he would give us (inter racial couple) better seats when the band started playing, if we were still there EVEN THOUGH other seats became available straightaway where they sat white customers! Shocking!!! Never once offered to put us in a better seat!!! To make matters worse, the benches we sat on were not fixed properly, so wobbled when other people moved AND we were sat above a very noisy nightclub, so could feel the base of the clubs music, which completely overpowered the venues. The pictures on the website do not reflect the interior, which is dirty, old and sticky! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! Toilets located far from the restaurant, through a maze of unsightly corridors, which was difficult to find. We did get a reduced bill, but still paid £32 for half a meal, which wasn’t fit for a dog! They were very forthcoming with offering to reduce the bill as their prices are so high, and food quality so low that they can take the occasional hit as profit margins are so wide, so I think they will keep pushing out terrible food as because they don’t care about the customers - just making money!!! So steer VERY clear of this restaurant unless you your strong appetite for country and western music has completely killed all your tastebuds, as this is the only way you can enjoy the food!!!!

Red Dog is not the one! I wanted to take my partner here for her birthday, which I made clear in the booking comments. When we arrived, who I assume was the manager on duty greeted us. I said we had a booking, to which his response was “oh yeah, follow me,” without even looking at the diary. We were seated in a nasty-looking, cramped bar area. This was a real shame, as there was a much nicer part of the restaurant that was closed off to the public. The issue was how close we were to the surrounding tables — I felt like I could be part of their conversations. Not what you want on a birthday meal. We ordered food and drinks, one of which was a milkshake. The bar staff made the milkshake, served it, and then went on to drink the leftovers at the bar in front of everyone. That’s annoying considering these milkshakes aren’t cheap. The food arrived subpar at best. My burger, which was £22.50 by the way, was a single patty with the smallest amount of beef on it, served with the greasiest potato tots I have ever eaten in my life. All of this while the manager sat at a desk in the nice part of the restaurant, scrolling TikTok and playing games on their phone. Asked for the bill, hoping they looked at the booking comments and just say happy birthday to my partner to nothing but a coy smile and an unenthusiastic thank you! Just go to Hickories people.....

Me and my boyfriend went here for valentine’s day, walked in and seemed like a lovely environment. We were seated right by the door in one of the booths. The service was fast however we had no cutlery or napkins on our table considering everyone else had them on there. We ordered the mozzarella sticks for a starter that cost £12.50, given the price we thought it would be adequate to share however when it arrived it was three sticks sat in a pile of sauce, massively overpriced!! I then ordered the cheeseburger and asked to swap the sauce with ketchup and for it to be well done, when it arrived there was no sauce on the burger and i had to repeatedly ask for ketchup, it was also extremely pink. The burger buns were also extremely greasy and not worth £20!! To top the experience off they had a band playing, in which was extremely loud i couldn’t even hear my boyfriend speak from across from me. Extremely overpriced and won’t be retuning unfortunately.
